Abstract

This research evaluates framing effects of corporate climate-change messaging on sustainable behavior intentions, the moderating role of greenwash bias, and the mediating role of perceived spirituality. Results of experiments indicate that frames do not have equal strength in persuasion. The results suggest natural well-being, sustainable expertise, and environmental frames encouraged sustainable behavior more than other frames in making consumers behave sustainably. Multiple frames are more persuasive than single frames in increasing the intention of sustainable action. Some multiple frames can be more effective than others in increasing sustainable behavior intentions. Greenwash bias exerts moderating impacts on the framing effects. The results also demonstrate the multiple sustainability frames have a positive impact on consumers' sustainable behavior intentions, either directly or indirectly, through perceived spirituality. Finally, this study clarifies the influence of gender differences.

Abstract

Ni‐based alloy coatings are sprayed on 304 stainless steel substrates using a high velocity oxygen fuel spraying (HVOF) method. The corrosion‐wear behavior was analyzed using a "block on ring" corrosion‐wear system. This study mainly discusses the effect of different applied potentials on corrosion and wear interaction using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The results show that as the applied potential increases, the weight loss and corrosion current density of the nickel‐based alloy coating increase accordingly. Increasing the applied potential, the total loss of corrosion‐wear (Wtotal) of the coating increased significantly. Under high applied potential, the main factor for the serious damage is the interaction of corrosion and wear. In addition, the friction coefficient of the coating first increases and then decreases with increasing applied potential. The surface morphology of the passivation layer and the thickness of corrosion oxide can have an important influence on the corrosion‐wear process. Based on the XPS analysis results, the composition of the passive film formed on the surface of the coating in the process of corrosion‐wear includes NiO, Cr2O3, MoO2, and MoO42−. Abstract

Retirement preparation is an issue of global concern. The public and private sectors have implemented solutions in the workplace such that participants turn their knowledge into actions through exploration. Yet, research is scarce regarding the associations between these three levels of knowledge, exploration, and implementation. This study aimed to develop a retirement preparation scale for middle-aged and older adult employees in Taiwan and examine the relations between the three levels. After each question indicator passed validity and reliability tests, the overall scale was subjected to initial validation of the measurement model using structural equation modeling. The key model indicators were analyzed using the best-fit model. The scale has an acceptable model fit with the collected data. There were 27 indicators covering 9 dimensions, and each indicator within the corresponding dimension had good reliability and validity. The results indicated that Taiwanese employees with relatively better knowledge of retirement planning are more aware of the importance of retirement preparation. However, the lack of significant employee engagement toward retirement preparation resulted in a lack of motivation to turn knowledge into implementation. Engagement in retirement preparation is a key determinant in individuals turning their knowledge into implementation. This study suggests that companies should help their employees explore retirement preparation options such that they can combine knowledge and involvement to improve retirement life quality. Abstract

Purpose: Because the Ling six-sound test is based on American English phonemes, it can yield unreliable results when administered to non-English speakers. In this study, we aimed to improve specifically the diagnostic palette for Mandarin Chinese users by developing an adapted version of the Ling six-sound test. Method: To determine the set of testing sounds, we performed an exhaustive acoustic and statistical analysis in which we considered not only the general acoustic properties but also the order of acquisition and the inter- and intraspeaker variability. Results: Six phonemes (/u, e, a, i, teh, s/) were selected as the testing items for the Mandarin Chinese sound test because these sounds exhibit a highly compartmentalized frequency specificity, spanning the entire Chinese speech spectrum, as well as a relatively low articulatory variability and can be acquired fairly early.
