201. Monolithic Convex Limiting for Legendre-Gauss-Lobatto Discontinuous Galerkin Spectral Element Methods

Abstract: We extend the monolithic convex limiting (MCL) methodology to nodal discontinuous Galerkin spectral element methods (DGSEM). The use of Legendre-Gauss-Lobatto (LGL) quadrature endows collocated DGSEM space discretizations of nonlinear hyperbolic problems with properties that greatly simplify the design of invariant domain preserving high-resolution schemes. Compared to many other continuous and discontinuous Galerkin method variants, a particular advantage of the LGL spectral operator is the availability of a natural decomposition into a compatible subcell flux discretization. Representing a high-order spatial semi-discretization in terms of intermediate states, we perform flux limiting in a manner that keeps these states and the results of Runge-Kutta stages in convex invariant domains. Additionally, local bounds may be imposed on scalar quantities of interest. In contrast to limiting approaches based on predictor-corrector algorithms, our MCL procedure for LGL-DGSEM yields nonlinear flux approximations that are independent of the time-step size and can be further modified to enforce entropy stability. To demonstrate the robustness of MCL/DGSEM schemes for the compressible Euler equations, we run simulations for challenging setups featuring strong shocks, steep density gradients and vortex dominated flows.

Abstract: We report a measurement of the mixing-induced and direct $\textit{CP}$ violation parameters $S_{\text{CP}}$ and $A_{\text{CP}}$ from $B^0 \to J/\psi K^0_S$ decays reconstructed by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy electron-positron collider. The data, collected at the center-of-mass energy of the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance, correspond to $190\text{fb}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We measure ${S_{\text{CP}} = 0.720\pm0.062\pm0.016}$ and $A_{\text{CP}} = 0.094\pm0.044^{+0.042}_{-0.017}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. In the Standard Model, $S_{\text{CP}}$ equals $\sin(2\phi_1)$ to a good approximation.

203. Probabilistic Back-ends for Online Speaker Recognition and Clustering

Abstract: This paper focuses on multi-enrollment speaker recognition which naturally occurs in the task of online speaker clustering, and studies the properties of different scoring back-ends in this scenario. First, we show that popular cosine scoring suffers from poor score calibration with a varying number of enrollment utterances. Second, we propose a simple replacement for cosine scoring based on an extremely constrained version of probabilistic linear discriminant analysis (PLDA). The proposed model improves over the cosine scoring for multi-enrollment recognition while keeping the same performance in the case of one-to-one comparisons. Finally, we consider an online speaker clustering task where each step naturally involves multi-enrollment recognition. We propose an online clustering algorithm allowing us to take benefits from the PLDA model such as the ability to handle uncertainty and better score calibration. Abstract: The cross section of the process $e^+e^-\to\pi^+\pi^-$ has been measured in the center of mass energy range from 0.32 to 1.2 GeV with the CMD-3 detector at the electron-positron collider VEPP-2000. The measurement is based on a full dataset collected below 1 GeV during three data taking seasons, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 62 pb$^{-1}$. In the dominant $\rho$-resonance region, a systematic uncertainty of 0.7% has been reached. At energies around $\phi$-resonance the $\pi^+\pi^-$ production cross section was measured for the first time with high beam energy resolution. The forward-backward charge asymmetry in the $\pi^+\pi^-$ production has also been measured. It shows a strong deviation from the theoretical prediction based on the conventional scalar quantum electrodynamics framework, and it is in good agreement with the generalized vector-meson-dominance and dispersive-based predictions. 205. Plasma-Parameter Dependence of Ro-Vibrational Temperatures for $\mathrm{H}_2$ in LHD Divertor

Abstract: We analyzed a thousand visible spectra of Fulcher-$\alpha$ band measured for divertor plasmas in Large Helical Device. With a coronal model and Baysian inference, the population distribution of hydrogen molecule in the electronical ground state were estimated. The non-thermal population distribution was recovered with a two-temperature model, which has two sets of rotational and vibrational temperatures, as well as their mixture coefficient. The lower rotational temperature significantly changes according to the plasma parameters. Its nearly linear dependence on the electron density was found, which is consistent with previous works. The lower vibrational temperature also shows a small density dependence, as reported by a previous work. On the other hand, the higher rotational and vibrational temperatures as well as the mixture coefficient only show slight changes over the broad range of plasma parameters. These population parameters show a significant correlation; with higher electron density, all the temperatures and the fraction of the higher-temperature component increase simultaneously. This suggests that the electron-impact plays an important role to determine the population distribution.

206. Nanocrystalline CaWO$_4$ and ZnWO$_4$ Tungstates for Hybrid Organic-Inorganic X-ray Detectors

Abstract: Hybrid materials combining an organic matrix and high-Z nanomaterials show potential for applications in radiation detection, allowing unprecedented device architectures and functionality. Herein, novel hybrid organic-inorganic systems were produced using a mixture of tungstate (CaWO$_4$ or ZnWO$_4$) nanoparticles with a P3HT:PCBM blend. The nano-tungstates with a crystallite size of 43 nm for CaWO$_4$ and 30 nm for ZnWO$_4$ were synthesized by the hydrothermal method. Their structure and morphology were characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The hybrid systems were used to fabricate direct conversion X-ray detectors able to operate with zero bias voltage. The detector performance was tested in a wide energy range using monochromatic synchrotron radiation. The addition of nanoparticles with high-Z elements improved the detector response to X-ray radiation compared with that of a pure organic P3HT:PCBM bulk heterojunction cell. The high dynamic range of our detector allows for recording X-ray absorption spectra, including the fine X-ray absorption structure located beyond the absorption edge. The obtained results suggest that nanocrystalline tungstates are promising candidates for application in direct organic-inorganic X-ray detectors.

Abstract: We present a study of the $X(3872)$ lineshape in the decay $B \to X(3872)K\to D^0\overline{D}{}^{*0}K$ using a data sample of $772\times 10^6$ $B\overline{B}$ pairs collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. The peak near the threshold in the $D^0\overline{D}{}^{*0}$ invariant mass spectrum is fitted using a relativistic Breit-Wigner lineshape. We determine the mass and width parameters to be $m = 3873.71 ^{+0.56}_{-0.50} ({\rm stat}) \pm0.13 ({\rm syst}) ~{\rm MeV}/c^2$ and $\Gamma_0 = 5.2 ^{+2.2}_{-1.5} ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.4 ({\rm syst})~{\rm MeV}$, respectively. The branching fraction is found to be ${\cal B} (B^+\to X(3872)K^+) \times {\cal{B}}(X(3872) \to D^0\overline{D}{}^{*0}) = (0.97 ^{+0.21}_{-0.18} ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.10 ({\rm syst})) \times 10^{-4}$. The signal from $B^0$ decays is observed for the first time with $5.2\sigma$ significance, and the ratio of branching fractions between charged and neutral $B$ decays is measured to be ${\cal B}(B^0\to X(3872)K^0)/{\cal B}(B^+ \to X(3872)K^+) = 1.34^{+0.47}_{-0.40} ({\rm stat}) ^{+0.10}_{-0.12} ({\rm syst})$. The peak is also studied using a Flatt\'{e} lineshape. We determine the lower limit on the $D\overline{D}{}^{*}$ coupling constant $g$ to be $0.075$ at 95% credibility in the parameter region where the ratio of $g$ to the mass difference from the $D^0\overline{D}{}^{*0}$ threshold is equal to $-15.11~{\rm GeV}^{-1}$, as measured by LHCb., Comment: submitted to Phys. Abstract: We present a search for the lepton-flavor-violating decays $B{}^0_s \rightarrow \ell^{\mp}\tau^{\pm}$, where $\ell = e, \mu$, using the full data sample of $121~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ collected at the $\Upsilon(5S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. We use $B{}^0_s \overline{B}{}^0_s$ events in which one $B{}^0_s$ meson is reconstructed in a semileptonic decay mode and the other in the signal mode. We find no evidence for $B{}^0_s \rightarrow \ell^{\mp}\tau^{\pm}$ decays and set upper limits on their branching fractions at $90\%$ confidence level as $\mathcal{B}(B{}^0_s \rightarrow e^{\mp}\tau^{\pm}) < 14 \times 10^{-4}$ and $\mathcal{B}(B{}^0_s \rightarrow \mu^{\mp}\tau^{\pm}) < 7.3 \times 10^{-4}$. Abstract: We present the first measurement of the ratio of branching fractions of inclusive semileptonic $B$-meson decays, $R(X_{e/\mu}) = \mathcal{B}(B\to X \, e \, \nu) / \mathcal{B}(B\to X \, \mu \, \nu)$, a precision test of electron-muon universality, using data corresponding to $189\,\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ from electron-positron collisions collected with the Belle II detector. In events where the partner $B$ meson is fully reconstructed, we use fits to the lepton momentum spectra above $1.3\,\mathrm{GeV}/c$ to obtain $R(X_{e/\mu}) = 1.007 \pm 0.009~(\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.019~(\mathrm{syst})$, which is the most precise lepton-universality test of its kind and agrees with the standard-model expectation.

Abstract: We present a measurement of the differential shapes of exclusive $B\to D^* \ell \bar{\nu}_\ell$ ($B = B^-, \bar{B}^0 $ and $\ell = e, \mu$) decays with hadronic tag-side reconstruction for the full Belle data set of $711\,\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ integrated luminosity. We extract the Caprini-Lellouch-Neubert (CLN) and Boyd-Grinstein-Lebed (BGL) form factor parameters and use an external input for the absolute branching fractions to determine the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element and find $|V_{cb}|_\mathrm{CLN} = (40.1\pm0.9)\times 10^{-3}$ and $|V_{cb}|_\mathrm{BGL} = (40.6\pm 0.9)\times 10^{-3}$ with the zero-recoil lattice QCD point $\mathcal{F}(1) = 0.906 \pm 0.013$. We also perform a study of the impact of preliminary beyond zero-recoil lattice QCD calculations on the $|V_{cb}|$ determinations. Additionally, we present the lepton flavor universality ratio $R_{e\mu} = \mathcal{B}(B \to D^* e \bar{\nu}_e) / \mathcal{B}(B \to D^* \mu \bar{\nu}_\mu) = 0.990 \pm 0.021 \pm 0.023$, the electron and muon forward-backward asymmetry and their difference $\Delta A_{FB}=0.022\pm0.026\pm 0.007$, and the electron and muon $D^*$ longitudinal polarization fraction and their difference $\Delta F_L^{D^*} = 0.034 \pm 0.024 \pm 0.007$. The uncertainties quoted correspond to the statistical and systematic uncertainties, respectively.

Abstract: We present a measurement of the $B^{0} \rightarrow D^{*-} \ell^{+} \nu_{\ell}$ ($\ell=e,\mu$) branching ratio and of the CKM parameter $|V_{cb}|$ using signal decays accompanied by a fully reconstructed $B$ meson. The Belle II data set of electron-positron collisions at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance, corresponding to 189.3$\,$fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity, is analyzed. With the Caprini-Lellouch-Neubert form factor parameterization, the parameters $\eta_{\rm EW} F(1) |V_{cb}|$ and $\rho^{2}$ are extracted, where $\eta_{\rm EW}$ is an electroweak correction, $F(1)$ is a normalization factor and $\rho^{2}$ is a form factor shape parameter. We reconstruct 516 signal decays and thereby obtain $\mathcal{B} (B^{0} \rightarrow D^{*-} \ell^{+} \nu_{\ell} ) = \left(5.27 \pm 0.22~\rm{\left(stat\right)} \pm 0.38~\rm{\left(syst\right)}\right) \%$, $\eta_{EW} F(1) |V_{cb}| \times 10^{3} = 34.6 \pm 1.8~\rm{\left(stat\right)} \pm 1.7~\rm{\left(syst\right)}$, and $\rho^{2} = 0.94 \pm 0.18~\rm{\left(stat\right)} \pm 0.11~\rm{\left(syst\right)}$.

Abstract: Multimodal learning can benefit from the representation power of pretrained Large Language Models (LLMs). However, state-of-the-art transformer based LLMs often ignore negations in natural language and there is no existing benchmark to quantitatively evaluate whether multimodal transformers inherit this weakness. In this study, we present a new multimodal question answering (QA) benchmark adapted from labeled music videos in AudioSet (Gemmeke et al., 2017) with the goal of systematically evaluating if multimodal transformers can perform complex reasoning to recognize new concepts as negation of previously learned concepts. We show that with standard fine-tuning approach multimodal transformers are still incapable of correctly interpreting negation irrespective of model size. However, our experiments demonstrate that augmenting the original training task distributions with negated QA examples allow the model to reliably reason with negation. To do this, we describe a novel data generation procedure that prompts the 540B-parameter PaLM model to automatically generate negated QA examples as compositions of easily accessible video tags. Abstract: Charged-lepton-flavor-violation is predicted in several new physics scenarios. We update the analysis of $\tau$ lepton decays into a light charged lepton ($\ell$ = $e^{\pm}$ or $\mu^{\pm}$) and a vector meson ($V^0$ = $\rho^0$, $\phi$, $\omega$, $K^{\ast0}$, or $\overline{K}{}^{\ast0}$) using 980 fb$^{-1}$ of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB collider. No significant excess of such signal events is observed, and thus 90% credibility level upper limits are set on the $\tau \rightarrow \ell V^0$ branching fractions in the range of (1.7--$4.3) \times 10^{-8}$. Abstract: Background: Patients with severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) show a high mortality rate of up to 60 %. In such cases, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support is often required, which would necessitate anticoagulation therapy, predominantly with heparin. Some bleeding events occurred more frequently in patients during the COVID-19 pandemic who were on venovenous (V-V) ECMO, so it is necessary to investigate whether anticoagulation management should be adjusted. Methods: We collected data on 90 patients with severe ARDS who underwent ECMO support at the University Hospital Magdeburg between 2014 and 2022. In order to estimate the role of anticoagulation therapy as a cause of bleeding, patients were divided into two groups based on their mean activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT): one group with a mean aPTT of more than 58 s (45 patients) and another with a mean aPTT of less than 58 s (45 patients). Demographic data, data before, during ECMO support, and bleeding complications were retrospectively recorded. We compared laboratory parameters before ECMO, essential coagulation parameters on days 3, 7, 10 of ECMO support, before the bleeding event occurred, and analyzed hospital survival in both groups. Abstract: The paper examines the relations between the Antigonids and the Aiakids during the forty years after the death of Pyrrhos (272) until the fall of the Molossian monarchy in the late 230s. Alexander II and a few of his successors ruled in Epeiros at that time; Antigonos II Gonatas and his son Demetrios II reigned in Macedonia. The main concerns of this article are a supposed peace treaty between the Antigonids and the Aiakids in 272 (and who signed it from the Epeirote side), the military conflict between Alexander II and the Antigonids during the Chremonidean War, the recognition of the asylia of the Koan Asklepieion by Gonatas and Alexander II as well as by their subjects, and the marriage of Demetrios II to Phthia (its date, especially in the light of the Athenian decrees in honor of the grain-controllers, and the lengthy controversy concerning the identification of the mother of Philip V). Abstract: IntroductionThe differential ratio of nonsynonymous to synonymous nucleotide substitutions (dN/dS) is a common measure of the rate of structural evolution in proteincoding genes. In addition, we recently suggested that the proportion of transposable elements in gene promoters that host functional genomic sites serves as a marker of the rate of regulatory evolution of genes. Such functional genomic regions may include transcription factor binding sites and modified histone binding loci.MethodsHere, we constructed a model of the human interactome based on 600,136 documented molecular interactions and investigated the overall relationship between the number of interactions of each protein and the rate of structural and regulatory evolution of the corresponding genes.ResultsBy evaluating a total of 4,505 human genes and 1,936 molecular pathways we found a general correlation between structural and regulatory evolution rate metrics (Spearman 0.08–0.16 and 0.25–0.37 for gene and pathway levels, respectively, p < 0.01). Further exploration revealed in the established human interactome model lack of correlation between the rate of gene regulatory evolution and the number of protein interactions on gene level, and weak negative correlation (∼0.15) on pathway level. We also found a statistically significant negative correlation between the rate of gene structural evolution and the number of protein interactions (Spearman −0.11 and −0.3 for gene and pathway levels, respectively, p < 0.01).DiscussionOur result suggests stronger structural rather than regulatory conservation of genes whose protein products have multiple interaction partners.

220. Dynamics of optical properties of sequentially diluted lucigenin aqueous solutions according to luminescence data

Abstract: The article discusses optical properties (luminescence) of diluted (24 dilution factor) lucigenin (Lc) aqueous solutions. Six series of Lc aqueous solutions, with 50 samples in each series, were studied. The series were diluted on different days within random schedules, following a unified procedure: the first sample in all the series was the Lc (CLc = 8.2 × 10−7 mol/L) stock solution, while the rest of the samples were obtained by successive dilution with the ratio of 24. For the first three samples, the Lc luminescence intensity decrease appropriately complied with the exponential function model (the dilution ratio: none for the stock solution, for the second and the third, 24 and 24 × 24 = 242, respectively). Starting from the fourth sample for statistical processing of luminescence data, the seven largest values were selected from the built rank distribution of emission intensity values. This method helps eliminate the influence of “random large bounces” when calculating the correlation coefficient. Up to the 50th studied sample, a challenging linear gradual decrease in the intensity of recorded photometric values was noted (correlation coefficients for all series being close to −0.9). Similar analysis of six reference series of pure water “dilution” samples did not exhibit any correlation between the highest emission values in the studied wavelength range (specific for Lc bandwidth, 480–505 nm) and the sample’s dilution number. It can be assumed that photometric values, recorded in the series of Lc sequentially diluted aqueous solutions after substance (Lc) elimination (theoretically expected after the 13th sample within the used experimental setup), could be attributed to the gradual destruction of long-lived aqueous structures formed in the process of hydration of Lc molecules during its dissolution.

Abstract: Статтю присвячено спробі узагальнення й систематизації попередніх міркувань стосовно окреслення первинних контурів т. зв. «взаємозалежності» внутрішнього змісту та конкретних формулювань і висловів, які зазвичай наразі прийнято використовувати для позначення поняття «покарання у міжнародному кримінальному праві». Здійснено припущення щодо мінливого характеру визначення поняття покарання у міжнародному кримінальному праві з огляду на наявне натепер у науковому обігу широке термінологічне розмаїття концептів і конструктів, що, як правило, або «розташовуються поряд», або ж «вживаються натомість». Виявлено щонайменше вісімнадцять, певною мірою, унікальних і самобутніх словосполучень, покликаних описувати подібні до «покарання у міжнародному кримінальному праві» явища, серед яких особливе місце доволі традиційно відводиться таким специфічним синтаксичним одиницям, як власне «міжнародне покарання» та «міжнародне кримінальне покарання», ужиток яких досить типово й достатньо виразно проглядається у сучасному науково-інформаційномудискурсі. Сформовано тезу-твердження про потенційну наявність принципової відмінності у визначенні поняття покарання у міжнародному кримінальному праві залежно від підходів до його сприйняття, зважаючи на зображений у конкретних термінах і категоріях спосіб, що знаходиться в його основі: 1) крізь призму застосування покарання до конкретних осіб («покарання міжнароднихзлочинців»); 2) шляхом осмислення покарання через категорію «неймовірних злодіянь» («покарання за міжнародні злочини»); 3) завдяки «прочитанню» його змісту з позицій органів міжнародної та національної кримінальної юстиції («покарання у праві та практиці міжнароднихкримінальних трибуналів і судів, національних та локальних інституцій»); 4) осмис- люючи його сутність, поміщуючи у певне середовище («покарання у міжнародному, транзитивному, а також перехідному контекстах»); 5) або ж з позицій і перспектив правових норм («покарання і міжнародне право, покарання та міжнародне кримінальне право»); чи їх порушення («покарання за порушення міжнародного кримінального та міжнародного гуманітарного права»). Наголошено на доцільності подальших науковихрозвідок, спрямованих на встановлення сутності кожної з існуючих нині дефініцій задля уточнення їх змісту з метою випрацювання уніфікованого визначення поняття покарання у міжнародному кримінальному праві.

231. Dissipation-based WENO stabilization of high-order finite element methods for scalar conservation laws

Abstract: We present a new perspective on the use of weighted essentially nonoscillatory (WENO) reconstructions in high-order methods for scalar hyperbolic conservation laws. The main focus of this work is on nonlinear stabilization of continuous Galerkin (CG) approximations. The proposed methodology also provides an interesting alternative to WENO-based limiters for discontinuous Galerkin (DG) methods. Unlike Runge--Kutta DG schemes that overwrite finite element solutions with WENO reconstructions, our approach uses a reconstruction-based smoothness sensor to blend the numerical viscosity operators of high- and low-order stabilization terms. The so-defined WENO approximation introduces low-order nonlinear diffusion in the vicinity of shocks, while preserving the high-order accuracy of a linearly stable baseline discretization in regions where the exact solution is sufficiently smooth. The underlying reconstruction procedure performs Hermite interpolation on stencils consisting of a mesh cell and its neighbors. The amount of numerical dissipation depends on the relative differences between partial derivatives of reconstructed candidate polynomials and those of the underlying finite element approximation. All derivatives are taken into account by the employed smoothness sensor. To assess the accuracy of our CG-WENO scheme, we derive error estimates and perform numerical experiments. In particular, we prove that the consistency error of the nonlinear stabilization is of the order $p+1/2$, where $p$ is the polynomial degree. This estimate is optimal for general meshes. For uniform meshes and smooth exact solutions, the experimentally observed rate of convergence is as high as $p+1$.

Abstract: We present a search for the lepton-flavour-violating decays $B^+ \to K^+ \tau^\pm \ell^\mp$, with $\ell = (e, \mu)$, using the full data sample of $772 \times 10^6$ $B\overline{B}$ pairs recorded by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. We use events in which one $B$ meson is fully reconstructed in a hadronic decay mode. We find no evidence for $B^\pm \to K^\pm \tau \ell$ decays and set upper limits on their branching fractions at the 90% confidence level in the $(1$-$3) \times 10^{-5}$ range. Abstract: We search for lepton-flavor-violating $\tau^-\to e^-\alpha$ and $\tau^-\to\mu^-\alpha$ decays, where $\alpha$ is an invisible spin-0 boson. The search uses electron-positron collisions at $10.58$ GeV center-of-mass energy with an integrated luminosity of $62.8$ fb$^{-1}$, produced by the SuperKEKB collider and collected with the Belle II detector. We search for an excess in the lepton-energy spectrum of the known $\tau^-\to e^-\bar\nu_e \nu_\tau$ and $\tau^-\to \mu^-\bar\nu_\mu \nu_\tau$ decays. We report 95\% confidence-level upper limits on the branching-fraction ratio ${\mathcal B}(\tau^-\to e^- \alpha) / {\mathcal B}(\tau^- \to e^- \bar\nu_e \nu_\tau)$ in the range $(1.1-9.7) \times 10^{-3}$ and on ${\mathcal B}(\tau^-\to \mu^- \alpha) / {\mathcal B}(\tau^- \to \mu^- \bar\nu_\mu \nu_\tau)$ in the range $(0.7-12.2) \times 10^{-3}$ for $\alpha$ masses between 0 and 1.6 GeV/c$^2$. Abstract: The $L_{\mu}-L_{\tau}$ extension of the standard model predicts the existence of a lepton-flavor-universality-violating $Z^{\prime}$ boson that couples only to the heavier lepton families. We search for such a $Z^\prime$ through its invisible decay in the process $e^+ e^- \to \mu^+ \mu^- Z^{\prime}$. We use a sample of electron-positron collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 10.58GeV collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019-2020, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 79.7fb$^{-1}$. We find no excess over the expected standard-model background. We set 90$\%$-confidence-level upper limits on the cross section for this process as well as on the coupling of the model, which ranges from $3 \times 10^{-3}$ at low $Z^{\prime}$ masses to 1 at $Z^{\prime}$ masses of 8$GeV/c^{2}$.

Abstract: We present results on the semileptonic decays $B^0 \to \rho^- \ell^+ \nu_\ell$ and $B^+ \to \rho^0 \ell^+ \nu_\ell$ in a sample corresponding to 189.9/fb of Belle II data at the SuperKEKB $e^- e^+$ collider. Signal decays are identified using full reconstruction of the recoil $B$ meson in hadronic final states. We determine the total branching fractions via fits to the distributions of the square of the "missing" mass in the event and the dipion mass in the signal candidate and find ${\mathcal{B}(B^0\to\rho^-\ell^+ \nu_\ell) = (4.12 \pm 0.64(\mathrm{stat}) \pm 1.16(\mathrm{syst})) \times 10^{-4}}$ and ${\mathcal{B}({B^+\to\rho^0\ell^+\nu_\ell}) = (1.77 \pm 0.23 (\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.36 (\mathrm{syst})) \times 10^{-4}}$ where the dominant systematic uncertainty comes from modeling the nonresonant $B\to (\pi\pi)\ell^+\nu_\ell$ contribution.

Abstract: We search for the tree-diagram dominated process $B^+ \rightarrow p \overline{n} \pi^0$, using a data sample of $772 \times 10^6~B\overline B$ pairs collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. This is the first search with the Belle detector for a decay mode including an anti-neutron. 237. Peculiarities of the local structure in new medium- and high-entropy, low-symmetry tungstates

Abstract: New monoclinic ($P2$/$c$) tungstates - a medium-entropy tungstate, (Mn,Ni,Cu,Zn)WO$_4$, and a high-entropy tungstate, (Mn,Co,Ni,Cu,Zn)WO$_4$ - were synthesized and characterized. Their phase purity and solid solution nature were confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. X-ray absorption spectroscopy was used to probe the local structure around metal cations. The atomic structures based on the ideal solid solution model were optimized by a simultaneous analysis of the extended X-ray absorption fine structure spectra at multiple metal absorption edges - five for (Mn,Ni,Cu,Zn)WO$_4$ and six for (Mn,Co,Ni,Cu,Zn)WO$_4$ - by means of reverse Monte Carlo simulations. In both compounds, Ni$^{2+}$ ions have the strongest tendency to organize their local environment and form slightly distorted [NiO$_6$] octahedra, whereas Mn$^{2+}$, Co$^{2+}$, and Zn$^{2+}$ ions have a strongly distorted octahedral coordination. The most intriguing result is that the shape of [CuO$_6$] octahedra in (Mn,Ni,Cu,Zn)WO$_4$ and (Mn,Co,Ni,Cu,Zn)WO$_4$ differs from that found in pure CuWO$_4$, where a strong Jahn-Teller distortion is present: [CuO$_6$] octahedra become more regular with increasing degree of dilution.

238. Theory of strong down-conversion in multi-mode cavity and circuit QED

Abstract: We revisit the superstrong coupling regime of multi-mode cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED), defined to occur when the frequency of vacuum Rabi oscillations between the qubit and the nearest cavity mode exceeds the cavity's free spectral range. A novel prediction is made that the cavity's linear spectrum, measured in the vanishing power limit, can acquire an intricate fine structure associated with the qubit-induced cascades of coherent single-photon down-conversion processes. This many-body effect is hard to capture by a brute-force numerics and it is sensitive to the light-matter coupling parameters both in the infra-red and the ultra-violet limits. We focused at the example case of a superconducting fluxonium qubit coupled to a long transmission line section. The conversion rate in such a circuit QED setup can readily exceed a few MHz, which is plenty to overcome the usual decoherence processes. Analytical calculations were made possible by an unconventional gauge choice, in which the qubit circuit interacts with radiation via the flux/charge variable in the low-/high-frequency limits, respectively. Our prediction of the fine spectral structure lays the foundation for the "strong down-conversion" regime in quantum optics, in which a single photon excited in a non-linear medium spontaneously down-converts faster than it is absorbed., Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures, Appendix

Abstract: We present a determination of the magnitude of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix element $V_{cb}$ using $B\to D\ell\nu$ decays. The result is based on $e^+e^-\to\Upsilon(4S)$ data recorded by the Belle II detector corresponding to 189.2/fb of integrated luminosity. The semileptonic decays $B^0\to D^-(\to K^+\pi^-\pi^-)\ell^+\nu_\ell$ and $B^+\to\bar D^0(\to K^+\pi^-)\ell^+\nu_\ell$ are reconstructed, where $\ell$ is either electron or a muon. The second $B$ meson in the $\Upsilon(4S)$ event is not explicitly reconstructed. Using the diamond-frame method, we determine the $B$ meson four-momentum and thus the hadronic recoil. We extract the partial decay rates as functions of $w$ and perform a fit to the decay form-factor and the CKM parameter $|V_{cb}|$ using the BGL parameterization of the form factor and lattice QCD input from the FNAL/MILC and HPQCD collaborations. We obtain $\eta_{EW}|V_{cb}|=(38.53\pm 1.15)\times 10^{-3}$, where $\eta_{EW}$ is an electroweak correction, and the error accounts for theoretical and experimental sources of uncertainty., Comment: 20 pages, 4 figures

240. Tuning the inductance of Josephson junction arrays without SQUIDs

Abstract: It is customary to use arrays of superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) for implementing magnetic field-tunable inductors. Here, we demonstrate an equivalent tunability in a (SQUID-free) array of single Al/AlOx/Al Josephson tunnel junctions. With the proper choice of junction geometry, a perpendicularly applied magnetic field bends along the plane of the superconductor and focuses into the tunnel barrier region due to a demagnetization effect. Consequently, the Josephson inductance can be efficiently modulated by the Fraunhoffer-type supercurrent interference. The elimination of SQUIDs not only simplifies the device design and fabrication, but also facilitates a denser packing of junctions and, hence, a higher inductance per unit length. As an example, we demonstrate a transmission line, the wave impedance of which is field-tuned in the range of $4-8~\textrm{k}\Omega$, centered around the important value of the resistance quantum $h/(2e)^2 \approx 6.5~\textrm{k}\Omega$.

Abstract: We measure the photon-energy spectrum in radiative bottom-meson ($B$) decays into inclusive final states involving a strange hadron and a photon. We use SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions corresponding to $189~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance by the Belle II experiment. The partner $B$ candidates are fully reconstructed using a large number of hadronic channels. The $B \rightarrow X_s \gamma$ partial branching fractions are measured as a function of photon energy in the signal $B$ meson rest frame in eight bins above $1.8~\mathrm{GeV}$. The background-subtracted signal yield for this photon energy region is $343 \pm 122$ events. Integrated branching fractions for three photon energy thresholds of $1.8~\mathrm{GeV}$, $2.0~\mathrm{GeV}$, and $2.1~\mathrm{GeV}$ are also reported, and found to be in agreement with world averages., Comment: 14 pages, 3 figures

Abstract: We present an analysis of the charmless semileptonic decay $B^0\to\pi^- \ell^+ \nu_{\ell}$, where $\ell = e, \mu$, from 198.0 million pairs of $B\bar{B}$ mesons recorded by the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB electron-positron collider. The decay is reconstructed without identifying the partner $B$ meson. The partial branching fractions are measured independently for $B^0\to\pi^- e^+ \nu_{e}$ and $B^0\to\pi^- \mu^+ \nu_{\mu}$ as functions of $q^{2}$ (momentum transfer squared), using 3896 $B^0\to\pi^- e^+ \nu_{e}$ and 5466 $B^0\to\pi^- \mu^+ \nu_{\mu}$ decays. The total branching fraction is found to be $(1.426 \pm 0.056 \pm 0.125) \times 10^{-4}$ for $B^0\to\pi^- \ell^+ \nu_{\ell}$ decays, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. By fitting the measured partial branching fractions as functions of $q^{2}$, together with constraints on the nonperturbative hadronic contribution from lattice QCD calculations, the magnitude of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $V_{ub}$, $(3.55 \pm 0.12 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.17) \times 10^{-3}$, is extracted. Here, the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic and the third is theoretical.
