Abstract

International audience; Many stakeholders in higher education develop with time. In this paper, we propose a new type of platform, called a Teaching Content Management System (TCMS). Such platforms are intended for instructors to help them produce teaching specifications and quality teaching designs. We first of all present drivers of change that currently affect universities and we discuss some specific aspects of education in higher education. We then derive a set of support requirements for instructors and provide a services design that TCMS should comply with.

Abstract

International audience; The evaluation of interactive systems and, more particularly, their human– machine interface (HMI), has been a recurring problem for the past 30 years. The evolution of interaction methods between user and machine, as well as the needs and specificities inherent in the evolution of information and communication sciences and technologies, systematically necessitates new criteria and methods for the evaluation of human–machine interactions. It has been shown that many users today have problems working with interactive systems, and that their needs are poorly analyzed, poorly perceived, insufficiently evaluated or not evaluated at all, and thus these systems do not always respond correctly to user needs. In order to improve the quality of human–machine interactions, numerous studies have been conducted to evaluate interactive systems from several angles and perspectives. In this chapter, we will look most closely at Trabelsi and Tran [TRA 06, TRA 09] in order to present, in a representative but non-exhaustive manner, the most frequently cited, studied and/or currently used types of evaluation methods. Before beginning this presentation, we will first illustrate the principle of evaluation and the categories chosen for presentation.

Abstract

Depuis quelques années, l’informatique a commencé à envahir des espaces de plus en plus larges de notre environnement quotidien. Elle s’est très vite répandue dans des objets qui en étaient quasiment dépourvus (lave-linge, appareils photos, téléphones, autoradios, etc.). La recherche porte aujourd’hui sur son intégration dans des objets encore plus usuels (portes, murs , meubles, vêtements, billets de transport, etc.) afin d’apporter une assistance continue à l’utilisateur dans ses tâches les plus quotidiennes. C’est ce que l’on appelle informatique ambiante, informatique disséminée, informatique diffuse, etc. Celle-ci marque la volonté de concrétiser un concept très séduisant : celui de la convergence des mondes physiques et numériques. L’informatique ambiante préconise ainsi une vision écologique de l’informatique en général. Elle favorise l’enrichissement de l’existant plutôt que sa substitution. En s’appuyant sur des objets de notre envir onnement quotidien, elle vise à sauvegarder l’expérience que nous avons du monde réel tout en l’enrichissant de la façon la plus harmonieuse possible. Bien que le concept en lui-même soit apparu au début des années 1990 dans les travaux de Mark Weiser, sa concrétisati on en systèmes opérationnels s’est heurtée dans un premier temps à certaines difficultés en raison du niveau de miniaturisation requis pour les composants électroniques nécessaires à la réalisation de tels systèmes. Toutefois, les progrès récents en matière de miniaturisation, de réseaux sans fils, d’autonomie énergétique et de nouvelles techniques d’interaction sont en train de lever ces difficultés et poussent de plus en plus d’équipes de recherche, aussi bien académiques qu’industrielles, à s’intéresser au problème et à proposer différents types de solutions. L’avènement de l’informatique ambiante marque la naissance du troisième paradigme de l’informatique. Le premier paradigme a réservé l’informatique aux centres de calculs là où un même ordinateur était exploité par plusieurs utilisateurs. Le second paradigme a permis à l’informatique d’entrer dans les foyers et de devenir « personnelle », chaque utilisateur disposant de son propre ordinateur. Enfin, le paradigme de l’informatique ambiante perm et à celle-ci de se disséminer dans les objets de notre environnement physique et de devenir ainsi omniprésente dans notre vie quotidienne

Abstract

International audience; In this paper, a new approach for interactive system evaluation is presented. It is based on the ergonomic guidelines integration within Graphical User Interface (GUI) controls. These controls provide assistance to the evaluator for the interfaces design according to a set of ergonomic guidelines. The controls use is proposed for both the evaluators and the developers. The proposed approach is based on the fact that when creating a graphical component (when adding it to the interface), it inspects a set of ergonomic criteria and verifies the GUI compliance with these criteria. The advantage of the suggested proposal consists essentially on its easiness to provide ergonomic guidelines validation when designing a GUI. To validate our approach, we propose in this paper, an application on a transport network supervision system and more particularly to an Information Assistance System for passenger.

Il entre, à partir de dispositifs personnels ou non, en interaction avec des systèmes d'information ou d'assistance. Comment offrir, à tout moment, une information répondant aux besoins et aux préférences des usagers? Cet ouvrage, à vocation pluridisciplinaire, propose une réponse basée sur des principes d'adaptation et de personnalisation. International audience; In industrial processes, the dysfunction modelling step is a must. It is performed in the beginning of the design process. Information carried out in this step offers a great opportunity to deduce the users informational needs. However, going from the dysfunction modelling step to the user’s informational needs deduction step still seems to be difficult and is often miss studied on com-plex cases. In this paper, we present a way of solution. An illustration is given too.; Dans de nombreux systèmes industriels complexes, l’analyse et la modélisation des dysfonctionnements est une étape indispensable venant en amont des projets. Elle constitue potentiellement une source précieuse pour s’orienter vers la déduction des besoins informationnels des utilisateurs. International audience; In this article, we propose an approach aiming to integrate stages of a data mining process into a development model; this so-called U-model is enriched under the human-computer interaction point of view. We also try to show its use in a framework concerning decision support system design. Our objective is to find methodological similarities between human-computer interaction and data mining domains.; Dans cet article, nous proposons une approche qui vise à intégrer les étapes du processus de Data Mining dans un modèle de développement enrichi sous l’angle des interactions homme-machine appelé le modèle en U. Abstract

International audience; Reseau Ferré de France (RFF) is the infrastructure manager for the French railway network. Its mission includes maintenance and development of this network, as well as path allocation. Paths are allocated upon demand from regional organising authority, based on actual passenger and freight transport needs.In order to maintain the performance of the existing network and to answer increasing demand, investments and developments are made on the infrastructure, to enable capacity increase, to ensure improved robustness, speed increase, and more efficient route design.For each developing project, the decision making in investment is the result of several studies during a process including several steps. The project usually begins by a diagnostic. It concerns the capacity of infrastructure to receive a new service. From this diagnostic, an insufficient infrastructure could appear. The extent of this insufficiency will orient the type of solutions to provide. If the lack is few important, the search for organizational or timetable structuring solutions will be preferred. For a lack of capacity more important, a investment solution, which will answer strict need, will be adopted.Although each action, or investment, is individually assessed, technically, socio-economically, and costs and benefits are highlighted, investment priorities remain hard to define.Hence, the idea of designing a Decision Support System (DSS) for the investment in railway infrastructure tool rose. This system, based on business components, is described in Section 1. Section 2 introduces the business components defined by the RFF experts' knowledge. In Section 3, the tools accessible by DSS, to elaborate arguments necessary for decision-making, will be analysed. Then, in Section 4, these tools will be linked for comparison and evaluation of solutions and so, to lead to decision. The article will finish with conclusion and future works.

Abstract

Human-computer interaction becomes sophisticated, multimodal and multi device and needs to be well-designed with the aim of facilitating application correction (i.e. to correcting errors/bugs in the application) or extension (i.e. adding new functionalities or modifying existing tasks). This thesis is focused on building a methodology of designing and specifying User Interface (UI) behaviour. The Unified Modelling Language (UML) is used to describe in detail the conceptual model and to define all its objects. The methodology flux diagram is provided with the specification of the consistency and the completeness properties of the transformation model. To support the methodology, we implement a graphic Dialog Editor in which Models are organized in three levels (abstract, concrete and final) according to Cameleon Reference Framework (CFR) and, whose process respects the Model Driven Engineering (MDE) approach. Furthermore, the use of Dialog Editor is illustrated through a simple example (connection to an interactive system with a login and a password) and another more complex example (CTI Application, relative to CTI Company, intended to cover the activities of a company which is specialized in the international transfer of money and import express worldwide services). These two examples of use have revealed strong points of Dialog Editor, as well as certain gaps. Qualitative approach is used to evaluate Dialog Editor. The assessment plan is structured in three phases. In the first instance, in the form of an interview we presented an open questionnaire to the potential users, in order to have feedback of a more or less general nature. Then, we organized a satisfaction survey by making use of the IBM Computer Usability Satisfaction Questionnaires (CSUQ). Abstract

International audience; Assistance tools for actors of cooperative systems, which are often centralized are increasingly designed to adhere to the system organization using a distributed architecture. However, generally these systems have difficulty in managing data coherency at the global level. In answer to this problem, we turned towards a particular organizational model: holonic systems. This concept has guided us in the design of the Holonic Multi-Agent System (HOLOMAS), which offers a good compromise between the distribution of knowledge and control centralization. In fact, the use of the HOLOMAS appeared to be necessary following the study of the procedures used in the patent department of a large company.
