The sequence of events during the photocyclisation of furylfulgides is not fully understood, and there is a significant disparity between ring closing timescales determined with the use of transient absorption spectroscopy [Siewertsen et al., Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys., 2011, 13, 3800] and the timescale estimated on the basis of nonadiabatic molecular dynamics (NAMD) simulations [Kochman et al., Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys., 2022, 24, 18103]. With a view to resolving this issue, in the present study I report NAMD simulations of the photorelaxation process of a model furylfulgide with a bulky alkyl substituent at carbon atom C3. I employed a pattern recognition algorithm in order to automate the analysis of the simulated trajectories. According to the simulation results, the bulky alkyl group causes a substantial increase in the photocyclisation quantum yield, but the timescale of ring closing is only marginally affected. Background: The literature review revealed few reports comparing dancers of different dance styles, especially in lower limb biomechanics and dynamic balance. This study aimed to compare the hip and knee ROM, hamstring muscle length, and dynamic balance between Polish folk dancers, ballroom dancers, and non-dancers. Methods: Nineteen Polish folk dancers (FD), fifteen ballroom dancers (BD), and seventeen physically inactive non-dancers (ND) took part in this observational study. The mean dancing experience of the dancers was 7.7 years. The research procedures included the use of the author's questionnaire, assessment of lower limb range of motion (ROM) (goniometer), measurement of hamstring muscle length (the Active Knee Extension (AKE) Test), and dynamic balance assessment (the Y-Balance Test). Results: Analysis revealed significant differences in knee extension (p=0.001), hamstring muscle length (p <0.0001), and dynamic balance (p=0.02) between the groups. Conclusion: Due to the greater flexibility of the hamstring muscles in dancing groups, the knee hyperextension in ballroom dancers, and the knee limited extension in folk dancers, further research should be conducted to include the hamstring muscle peak force and the lumbopelvic complex assessment. According to the 2024 ESC guidelines for the management of chronic coronary syndrome antianginal medical therapy aims to control symptoms while ensuring acceptable tolerability and patient adherence. The guidelines specify the indications for particular groups of antianginal drugs, defining the class of indications and the level of evidence based on the results of expert opinions, registries, clinical studies, and meta-analyses. This very important document has a great impact on clinical practice as it constitutes the basis for therapeutic decisions. Therefore, it is worth understanding the assumptions that guided the authors when formulating specific recommendations. The occurrence and manifestation of each ameloblastic fibro-odontoma (AFO) is quite rare and uncommon. Mentioned odontogenic tumor classification had changed over the years; however, the treatment possibilities for this lesion remain the same. In most cases surgical enucleation is sufficient enough; however, bigger lesions might require bone curettage with sometimes performed bony ostectomy, which is a quite sufficient and effective method of treatment. In the presented case report, a panoramic radiological evaluation indicated an impacted molar tooth surrounded with mixed radiolucent/radiopaque areas. The 10-year-old Caucasian girl was scheduled for an incisional biopsy. The bone cavity in the mandible after tumor removal might be left for spontaneous healing or grafting techniques, depending on the shape and size of the defect. In the presented case report, the usage of PRF/iPRF in the mandibular bone cavity, and healing improved the overall final result.

Wstęp. W marcu 2020 roku cały świat rozpoczął walkę z nieznanym dotąd wrogiem – Koronawirusem SARS-CoV-2 zwanym także COVID-19. Sytuacja pandemii znacznie wpłynęła na funkcjonowanie rodziny. Cel. Celem pracy jest analiza jakości życia dziecka i rodziny w dobie zaostrzeń związanych z pandemią Koronawirusa (COVID – 19). Materiał i metody. Za pomocą metody sondażu diagnostycznego, przy użyciu ankiet własnego autorstwa badano jakość życia całej rodziny i dzieci w trakcie hospitalizacji w czasach pandemii. Procedurę badawczą przygotowano również na podstawie przeprowadzenia oryginalnej wersji kwestionariusza KIDSCREEN 27. Badanie przeprowadzono wśród 200 osób. Badani to dzieci i młodzież (100 osób) byli pacjentami Oddziału Dziecięcego Obserwacyjnego Specjalistycznego Szpitala Wojewódzkiego we Włocławku oraz grupa rodziców tych dzieci licząca 100 osób. Wyniki. Za pomocą wymienionych powyżej narzędzi badawczych wykazano, że pandemia COVID-19 w badanej grupie wpływa negatywnie na każdy aspekt życia całej rodziny. Dochodzi do zaburzeń zdrowia fizycznego, psychicznego i relacji społecznych samego dziecka, a konsekwencji także jego najbliższych. Wnioski. Jakość życia w rodzinie w dobie pandemii nabiera całkiem innego wymiaru. W wyniku restrykcji konieczne jest przeorganizowane życia w każdej sferze. Prowadzi to do szeregu negatywnych konsekwencji, a mianowicie pogorszeniu ulega zdrowie fizyczne nie tylko dziecka, ale też pozostałych członków rodziny, zdrowie psychiczne całej rodziny, a także dochodzi do zaburzenia umiejętności nawiązywania prawidłowych relacji społecznych.

Nowadays, maxillo-facial surgery procedures are greatly dependent on good general anesthesia and adequate maintenance care of the airways. Nasotracheal intubation (NTI) is one of the most common ones, especially in orthognathic surgery, temporomandibular joint-related surgeries, or others. Nasotracheal intubation itself is not a problem; however, maintaining its stable and safe position, regardless of the excess of surgical maneuvers in the facial skeleton, is important. There are a lot of techniques, personal modifications, and materials used to support tube placement. It is quite common that either plaster or a bandage roll can be useful with a combination of various forms of sponges or wipes in different shapes, sizes, and elasticity to support the tube’s adequate position, especially when maintaining a good shape and position of the nose and symmetry line and avoiding unnecessary tube flexion. In the following paper, one of the tube support alternatives with an anti-bedsore heel disc will be presented.

A lateral periodontal cyst (LPC) is a rare finding. Patients diagnosed with LPC younger than 40 years of age are not that common. Mostly asymptomatic LPCs can be discovered on routine radiographs as an oval radiolucency between two mandibular premolar teeth roots and can vary in shape and size. Most cases are treated with enucleation, bone curettage, or a combination of both, greatly depending on the surgeon’s preference. Because most LPCs are quite small, lesions do not require any regenerative procedures. In the presented case, because of cortical expansion of the lesion and loss of vital bone bridge surrounding two adjacent maxillary teeth, a guided bone regenerative procedure (GBR) with xenograft bone substitute was used. Despite that small lesions can heal on their own, nowadays the approach of full-mouth therapy (FMT), including direct soft or hard tissue reconstruction in the oral cavity, seems to be a wise treatment. The presented paper presents and describes an unusual LPC case with cortical bone expansion in a very rare maxillary canine–premolar region.

Background: Common cocaine cutting agent Levamisole is known to cause agranulocytosis. However, a lesser known public health issue is levamisole-induced granulomatosis with polyangiitis. This case series explores this link. Methods and Results: A three case-series report with findings confirmed through clinical history, examination, biopsy and urine toxicology screens. Conclusions: Our case-series highlights a possible link between levamisole and extensive necrosis of the nasal cavity; caused by polyangiitis with granuloma formation and secondary vasculitis. A high degree of suspicion is needed if young patients present with ANCA positive vasculitis, or in patients with cocaine use, if there is a disproportionate destruction of tissues- particularly the lateral wall of the nose. If diagnosed and treated early, this can be lifesaving.
