207. Determination of saikosaponin derivatives in Bupleuri Radix using HPLC-ELSD

Abstract

A HPLC-ELSD method was developed to determine saikosaponin derivatives from Bupleuri Radix. Eight saikosaponins, saikosaponin c, i, h, a, , g, and d, were analyzed under optimized HPLC conditions [column: Eclipse XDB ( i.d., ; mobile phase: with 0.1% COOH (v/v) for solvent A and AcCN with 0.1% COOH (v/v) for solvent B, gradient elution; flow rate: 1mL/min; injection volume: ]. Good linearity was achieved in the range from 62.5 to for each compound, and intra-day precision and accuracy at each concentration level varied between 0.05 and 5.45% and between 93.9 and 109.6%, respectively, whereas those for inter-day variations were between 0.91 to 2.73% and 94.3 to 106.1%. This HPLC-ELSD method was applied for the determination of sakosaponins from Bupleuri Radix samples, and saikosaponin a , c and d were observed as major compounds. The other saikosaponins were shown under limit of quantification level thus couldn't be quantified. The present study suggested that the introduced HPLC-ELSD method is selective and reliable, and not only saikosaponin a, but also saikosaponin c and d should be employed as the standard markers for Bupleuri Radix.

Digital hologram images reconstructed through interference of the modulated light waves requires ultra high resolution display panel. BCE oxide TFTs with channel width of 0.5µm and channel length of 2µm were stacked on data line for the integration of 1µm pitch pixel. 1µm pixel pitch 16K spatial light modulator on glass substrate was successfully fabricated with vertically stacked TFT structure.

Abstract

One new furylhydroquinone derivative (1) and seven known compounds (2–8) were isolated from the roots of Lithospermum erythrorhizon Sieb. et Zucc (Boraginaceae). The structure of 1 was elucidated by extensive spectroscopic methods using NMR and MS. The absolute configuration of shikonofuran J (1) was unambiguously determined by aid of comparison experimental ECD with predicted ECD spectra. All the isolates were tested for their inhibitory activities against IL-6 production in HaCaT cells stimulated by tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α. It was found that gracicleistanthoside (5) and uridine (7) remarkably down-regulated the TNF-α-induced synthesis of interleukin-6 (IL-6), a pro-inflammatory cytokine associated with cutaneous inflammation, in HaCaT cells. 246. Ferromagnetic Anomalous Hall Effect in Cr-Doped Bi2Se3Thin Films via Surface-State Engineering

Abstract

The anomalous Hall effect (AHE) is a nonlinear Hall effect appearing in magnetic conductors, boosted by internal magnetism beyond what is expected from the ordinary Hall effect. With the recent discovery of the quantized version of the AHE, the quantum anomalous Hall effect (QAHE), in Cr- or V-doped topological insulator (TI) (Sb,Bi)2Te3thin films, the AHE in magnetic TIs has been attracting significant interest. However, one of the puzzles in this system has been that while Cr- or V-doped (Sb,Bi)2Te3and V-doped Bi2Se3exhibit AHE, Cr-doped Bi2Se3has failed to exhibit even ferromagnetic AHE, the expected predecessor to the QAHE, though it is the first material predicted to exhibit the QAHE. Here, we have successfully implemented ferromagnetic AHE in Cr-doped Bi2Se3thin films by utilizing a surface state engineering scheme. Surprisingly, the observed ferromagnetic AHE in the Cr-doped Bi2Se3thin films exhibited only a positive slope regardless of the carrier type. We show that this sign problem can be explained by the intrinsic Berry curvature of the system as calculated from a tight-binding model combined with a first-principles method.

248. Eudesmane Glycosides from Ambrosia artemisiifolia(Common Ragweed) as Potential Neuroprotective Agents

Abstract

In Alzheimer’s disease, amyloid-β (Aβ) accumulation in the brain results in neuronal cell death and is one of the major causes of dementia. Because the current therapeutic agents are not yet sufficiently effective or safe, there have been attempts to find new neuroprotective chemicals against Aβ-induced cytotoxicity. A 70% EtOH extract of whole plants of Ambrosia artemisiifolia(common ragweed) was selected after the screening of a natural extract library. Seven new eudesmane-type glycosides (1–7) and seven known compounds (8–14) were obtained through bioactivity-guided fractionation from the aerial parts of this plant. Their structures were determined on the basis of their nuclear magnetic resonance spectra, high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry analysis, and electronic circular dichroism calculations. Among them, compounds 1, 2, 4–6, 8, 9, 11, 13, and 14showed protective effects against Aβ-induced cytotoxicity in Aβ42-transfected HT22 cells. The most active compounds, 5and 6, exhibited moderate protective activity dose-dependently (10, 20, and 40 μM).

249. Monoclinic LaSb2Superconducting Thin Films

Abstract

Rare-earth diantimondes exhibit coupling between structural and electronic orders, which are tunable under pressure and temperature. Here we present the discovery of a new polymorph of LaSb2stabilized in thin films synthesized using molecular beam epitaxy. Using diffraction, electron microscopy, and first-principles calculations we identify a YbSb2-type monoclinic lattice as a yet-uncharacterized stacking configuration. The material hosts superconductivity with a Tc= 2 K, which is enhanced relative to the bulk ambient phase, and a long superconducting coherence length of 1730 Å. This result highlights the potential thin film growth has in stabilizing novel stacking configurations in quasi-two-dimensional compounds with competing layered structures.
