Abstract

The static power consumption became one of the key limiting factors on the shrinkage of feature size of VLSI circuit using CMOS technology. One major reason of high static power consumption is the off-state sub-threshold leakage current of the transistor. At room temperature, the possible steepest sub-threshold swing (SS) for turning off the transistor, is limited to 60 mV/decade due to a constant fundamental thermal dynamical limit (kBT/q) that is not scalable with reduced dimension. This limitation is inherent to CMOS because its off-state is governed by thermally activated diffusive current over a potential gate-controlled potential barrier. Completely different switching mechanism such as using the mechanical degree of freedom is necessary to break the SS limit. Previous studies using nano-electro-mechanical-system (NEMS) have shown suspended-gate MOSFET (SG-MOSFET) as logical switch, while we have previously proposed a suspended nanowire (NW) channel FET (NEMFET) with low pull-in voltage(Vpi) and high Ion/Ioff ratio due to the flexibility of nanowires. Here we report the first demonstration of a NEMFET device using suspended Ge/Si core/shell nanowire channel. The NEMFET channel is suspended over a local metal gate with the air gap thickness defined by the thickness of the supporting source/drain electrodes. 248. The value of drain fluid amylase as a predictor of postoperative pancreatic fistula after pancreaticogastrostomy.

Abstract

Background: Drain fluid amylase is commonly used as a predictor of pancreatic fistula after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD). This study aimed to determine the ideal cut‐off value of drain fluid amylase on postoperative day 1 (DFA1) for predicting pancreatic fistula after pancreaticogastrostomy (PG). Methods: Prospective data of 272 consecutive patients undergoing PG between 2010 and 2020 was collected and analysed to determine the postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) risk factors. Results: The incidence of POPF was 143 cases (52.6%). The median DFA1 in patients with POPF was significantly higher than that of patients with NO‐POPF (5483 versus 311, P < 0.001). DFA1 correlated with POPF in the area under the curve (AUC) of 0.84 (P < 0.001). When DFA1 was 2300 U/L, Youden index was the highest, with a sensitivity of 72.7% and a specificity of 82.9%. Logistic regression analysis showed that DFA1 ≥ 2300 U/L was an independent predictor of POPF (P < 0.001; OR: 12.855; 95% CI: 7.019–23.544). The AUC of DFA1 and clinically relevant postoperative pancreatic fistula (CR‐POPF) was 0.674 (P < 0.001). Conclusion: DFA1 ≥ 2300 U/L can be used as an independent predictor of POPF after PG. DFA1 ≥ 3000 U/L can predict the occurrence of CR‐POPF, when DFA1 ≥ 3000 U/L, the patients should be observed closely active for complications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Recommending personalized learning materials for online language learning is challenging because we typically lack data about the student's ability and the relative difficulty of learning materials. This makes it hard to recommend appropriate content that matches the student's prior knowledge. In this paper, we propose a refined hierarchical knowledge structure to model vocabulary knowledge, which enables us to automatically organize the authentic and up-to-date learning materials collected from the internet. Based on this knowledge structure, we then introduce a hybrid approach to recommend learning materials that adapts to a student's language level. We evaluate our work with an online Japanese learning tool and the results suggest adding adaptivity into material recommendation significantly increases student engagement., The short version of this paper is published at AIED 2019
