An experiment was conducted to determine the influence of increasing broiler’s slaughter weight on, carcass characteristics, meat quality, sensory evaluation, immunity, and welfare. Commercial strain “Vencobb-430” chicks (n=280) were randomly distributed among eight groups consisting of 35 chicks in each. The experimental birds were fed on commercial maize soya-based basal diet. The broiler chicks were reared for up to 48 days and slaughtered at a different live body weight of 1.0-1.2, 1.5-1.7, 2.1-2.2, 2.5-2.7, 2.8-3.0 and 3.3-3.5 (i.e 24, 28, 34, 39, 42 and 48- day slaughter day). The results revealed that dressing and breast % were significantly (P2.1 kg, an increasing trend of gait score and breast cleanliness was observed at each stage of slaughter weight. Based on the results, the broiler birds reared up to 2.1 to 2.2 kg live body weight resulted in better welfare, immune status, and meat quality parameters.

In the present study, we explore the potential of Fagonia schweinfurthii Hadidi (FS) in-vivo plant material and in-vitro-grown callus as a bio-template for AgNPs synthesis, highlighting its eco-friendly and bio-inspired sustainable approach. The comparative efficacy of natural plant material and its callus culture was assessed for AgNP synthesis by employing both sunlight and microwave irradiation as separate synthesis methods. This yielded four distinct types of AgNPs denoted as CS-AgNPs, PS-AgNPs, CM-AgNPs, and PM-AgNPs. Sunlight-irradiated AgNP synthesis optimized at near to neutral pH (6.6), whereas microwave-assisted synthesis needed a basic pH for synthesis. Optimization of these AgNPs involved varying concentrations of AgNO3, plant aqueous extract (PAE), and callus aqueous extract (CAE) of FS, exposure time to sunlight and microwave radiation, as well as pH adjustments. The particle size of these AgNPs ranged from 5 to 30 nm, having a crystalline nature with a similar fringe width of 0.22 nm, as observed from HR-TEM analysis. These AgNPs showed significant antibacterial properties against the clinical isolates with λmax 420 nm. Importantly, CAE outperformed PAE for the biosynthesis of AgNPs, mainly in the presence of sunlight-producing CS-AgNPs. These CS-AgNPs are rapidly synthesized, well dispersed and stable, showing significant antibacterial activity, and the least environmental phytotoxicity. It promoted the number of secondary roots, seedling DW, and TWC with 100% seed germination. This highlights their sustainable features for exploring industrial eco-friendly nonmanufacturing of AgNPs using callus culture and sunlight irradiation.

Purpose: To characterize hemi-retinal vein occlusion (HRVO) in patients presenting to a multi-tier ophthalmology hospital network. Methods: This retrospective, hospital-based study analyzed 2,834,616 new patients between August 2010 and June 2021. Patients with a clinical diagnosis of HRVO in at least one eye were included as cases. Data were collected using an electronic medical record system. Data were compared to the findings noted in branch RVO (BRVO) and central RVO (CRVO) patients. Results: HRVO constituted 0.9% (n = 191) of all the retinal vein occlusions (RVOs), with the mean age being 60.55 ± 10.14 years. Most patients were male (125, 65.45%) with unilateral (92.67%) affliction. Majority presented during the sixth (31.41%) or seventh (32.46%) decade of life. Most patients reported mild (37.07%) or moderate (27.32%) visual impairment, with vision < 20/200 being less common in HRVO (25.8%) and BRVO (17.2%) compared to CRVO (44.1%) (P < 0.00001). Glaucoma was diagnosed and treated in 49 (23.90%) eyes, which was much higher than CRVO (11.45%) and BRVO (5.04%) (P < 0.001), though neovascular glaucoma was much less than CRVO (2.9% vs. 9.2%) (P = 0.0037). On follow-up, HRVO eyes (12.2%) had lesser vision loss compared to CRVO eyes (13.7%) (this difference does not look very significant to me), though BRVO had the least (9.1%) vision loss. Conclusion: HRVO is a rare RVO, presenting more in males. It causes less-severe visual impairment compared to CRVO. Large majority of patients with HRVO do not have identifiable systemic risk factors other than age. Preexisting glaucoma was more associated with HRVO compared to other RVOs.

The intentional incorporation of AI is presented as a driving force for the transformation of healthcare provision. This transformation has the potential to provide potential benefits such as improved precision in diagnosis, effectiveness in treatment, and efficient utilization of treatment resources. In addition, the paper places an emphasis on the proactive role that AI plays in identifying and mitigating emerging health risks. Providing useful information about the policies, practices, and frameworks that enable the efficient incorporation of AI into public health is the primary objective of this research. The purpose of this paper is to provide policymakers, healthcare practitioners, and researchers with suggestions that can be put into practice today by combining historical perspectives and analyzing patterns that are currently occurring. The purpose of this action is to have an impact on the conversation that is taking place about the future of healthcare delivery, with the intention of highlighting the significant impact that AI can have on improving the circumstances of public health.

Purpose: To evaluate the clinical outcomes with fibrin glue in comparison with vicryl sutures for limbal conjunctival wound closure in strabismus surgery. Methods: In this prospective interventional study, patients undergoing horizontal muscle strabismus surgery were randomized into two groups: the vicryl suture group and the fibrin glue group. The limbal conjunctival incisions were closed with 8–0 vicryl in the suture group and with fibrin glue in the other group. The outcomes measured were post-operative conjunctival inflammation and wound apposition, patient comfort with the help of a questionnaire, and conjunctival thickness using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) for both groups at 6 weeks. Results: The study included 64 eyes of 64 patients (32 eyes in each group). The fibrin glue group performed better than the vicryl suture group for most of the symptoms like redness, irritation, watering, and foreign body sensation till 2 weeks post-operatively (P < 0.001), after which both the groups performed similarly. As for clinical signs, no significant difference was noted between the two groups, except for conjunctival hyperemia, which was significantly lesser in the fibrin glue group at 2 weeks post-operatively (P < 0.001). The conjunctival thickness measured at 6 weeks using AS-OCT revealed that the thickness increased significantly in the suture group compared to that in the glue group (P < 0.001 medial site, P = 0.004 lateral site). Conclusion: Because of greater patient comfort and reduced inflammation associated with fibrin glue, it may be considered as a procedure of choice for conjunctival wound closure in strabismus surgery in the absence of the cost constraints.

Millimeter-wave and Terahertz communications consist of complex analog and mixed-signal transceivers where overall system performance is often limited by the weakest performing subsystem. While analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits have significantly advanced, the future of 5G and 6G transceiver design could be accelerated by including artificial intelligence. In this combination, analog integrated circuit design and operation would harness machine learning to identify, characterize, and act upon variations and anomalies in system performance. Focusing on 5G and 6G, this paper investigates solutions for a unified intelligent integrated transceiver: a conceptual combination of a traditional analog subsystem, a supporting digital subsystem that enables artificial intelligence, and dedicated feedback circuitry or sensors that monitor performance, efficiency, or reliability. Active and passive components and propagation channels are reviewed based on their merits of introducing intelligence. Holistically and for broader applicability, the paper conceptualizes and coins the notion of an “intelligent integrated system (IIS)”, which brings forward a novel unified vision and approach toward context-aware subsystems that dynamically interact with ambient and varying operating conditions. To demonstrate viability, the paper concatenates a select set of measurement results.

Abstract Background Commercial cultivars of perennial ryegrass infected with selected Epichloë fungal endophytes are highly desirable in certain pastures as the resulting mutualistic association has the capacity to confer agronomic benefits (such as invertebrate pest deterrence) largely due to fungal produced secondary metabolites (e.g., alkaloids). In this study, we investigated T2 segregating populations derived from two independent transformation events expressing diacylglycerol acyltransferase (DGAT) and cysteine oleosin (CO) genes designed to increase foliar lipid and biomass accumulation. These populations were either infected with Epichloë festucae var. lolii strain AR1 or Epichloë sp. LpTG-3 strain AR37 to examine relationships between the introduced trait and the endophytic association. Here we report on experiments designed to investigate if expression of the DGAT + CO trait in foliar tissues of perennial ryegrass could negatively impact the grass-endophyte association and vice versa. Both endophyte and plant characters were measured under controlled environment and field conditions. Results Expected relative increases in total fatty acids of 17–58% accrued as a result of DGAT + CO expression with no significant difference between the endophyte-infected and non-infected progeny. Hyphal growth in association with DGAT + CO expression appeared normal when compared to control plants in a growth chamber. There was no significant difference in mycelial biomass for both strains AR1 and AR37, however, Epichloë-derived alkaloid concentrations were significantly lower on some occasions in the DGAT + CO plants compared to the corresponding null-segregant progenies, although these remained within the reported range for bioactivity. Conclusions These results suggest that the mutualistic association formed between perennial ryegrass and selected Epichloë strains does not influence expression of the host DGAT + CO technology, but that endophyte performance may be reduced under some circumstances. Further investigation will now be required to determine the preferred genetic backgrounds for introgression of the DGAT + CO trait in combination with selected endophyte strains, as grass host genetics is a major determinant to the success of the grass-endophyte association in this species.

Objectives The objective is to present the patterns of dual primary malignancies diagnosed at the Pathology Laboratory of Cancer Hospital with the support from hospital-based cancer registry (HBCR), Sangrur, Punjab, India for the years 2018 and 2019.

Introduction: Maternal mortality remains a major public health problem, particularly in Chad. The aim of this study was to analyse the factors associated with maternal death. Method: This was a retrospective descriptive and analytical study conducted at Bongor Provincial Hospital (BPH) over a 5-year period (2015 to 2020). The study population consisted of all maternity patients who died in this hospital and whose records were complete. The variables studied were epidemiological, clinical, and therapeutic factors. The data were collected and analysed using Sphinx Plus²(V5) software. The Chi-square test was used to compare the variables. A p-value of less than 0.05 was considered significant. Results: We registered 13,758 women with all pathologies, of which 6,349 met the inclusion criteria; 98 of them died (1.5%) giving a Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) of 1005/100,000 live births. These deaths mainly occurred in women aged between 20 and 24 years (30.6%), who were married (79.6%), housewives (59.2%), multiparous (33.7%), from rural areas (74.5%), uneducated (39.8%) and who had had no prenatal care (60.2%). The main aetiologies reported were: genital haemorrhage (77.5%), infections (63.3%), malaria (61.2%), severe anaemia (39.8%) and dystocia (25.5%). Conclusion: Maternal mortality is a major health problem, and its reduction requires the mobilization of all actors in society and implies good health education, improvement of the quality of prenatal follow-up and emergency obstetric care.

The ubiquitous, rising demand for energy storage devices with ultra-high storage capacity and efficiency has drawn tremendous research interest in developing energy storage devices. Dielectric polymers are one of the most suitable materials used to fabricate electrostatic capacitive energy storage devices with thin-film geometry with high power density. In this work, we studied the dielectric properties, electric polarization, and energy density of PMMA/2D Mica nanocomposite capacitors where stratified 2D nanofillers are interfaced between the multiple layers of PMMA thin films using two heterostructure designs of the capacitors, PMMA/2D Mica/PMMA (PMP) and PMMA/2D Mica/PMMA/2D Mica/PMMA (PMPMP). The incorporation of a 2D Mica nanofiller in the low-dielectric-constant PMMA leads to an enhancement in the dielectric constant, with ∆ε ~ 15% and 53% for PMP and PMPMP heterostructures at room temperature. Additionally, a significant improvement in discharged energy density was measured for the PMPMP capacitor (Ud ~ 38 J/cm3 at 825 MV/m) compared to the pristine PMMA (Ud ~ 9.5 J/cm3 at 522 MV/m) and PMP capacitors (Ud ~ 19 J/cm3 at 740 MV/m). This excellent capacitive and energy storage performance of the PMMA/2D Mica heterostructure nanocomposite may inform the fabrication of thin-film, high-density energy storage capacitor devices for potential applications in various platforms.

Though school closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic affected all students globally, the effect was significantly more for students from marginalized and vulnerable communities. In Nova Scotia, Canada, the concern was the racial achievement gap that the education system is addressing through an inclusive education policy. The worry, especially for Black Nova Scotian students, was the online learning demands and the associated challenges. Through an analysis of a household survey and intersectionality framework, we explored these challenges. We argue that students have multiple and simultaneously acting identities that lead to differential learning experiences and outcomes, and an intersectionality approach should be considered to inform education improvement decisions.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the factors influencing the adoption and utilization of the online examination portal (OEP) in Indian universities. This study combines the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Usage of Technology (UTAUT) and Task Technology Fit (TTF) to explain the user's intention to use an OEP at an Indian University. Design/methodology/approach: This study's methodology combines UTAUT as a theoretical framework with TTF. It is conceptualized that TTF has a moderating effect on UTAUT's primary construct. The authors collected the data from 182 graduate students from an Indian university. PLS-SEM is used to identify the causal relationship between the constructs using the structural equation modeling (SEM) technique. Findings: The findings will demonstrate the applicability of the constructs of performance expectancy, effort expectancy and facilitating conditions in influencing the usage intention and behavior of students towards OEP. The outcome will also demonstrate the moderating effect of TTF on the predictors of intention to use OEP at an Indian University. Research limitations/implications: The sample respondents who participated in the study are students at the Indian University in Pune. The selection of samples was based on convenience sampling. Future research should be conducted at a variety of geographic locations, educational levels, undergraduate and graduate schools, as well as multiple universities. To increase the objectivity of sample selection, the probabilistic sampling method can be used to select samples. For future studies, larger sample sizes (more than 182) can be collected in order to increase the generalizability and applicability of the findings to other developing markets. Practical implications: The study will aid Indian universities in enhancing the effectiveness of OEP. The study will also demonstrate the users' perception of the portal and their willingness to use it. It will also assist the university administration in finalizing the examination portal's implementation strategy. Originality/value: Very few studies have been published on the factors influencing the acceptance and utilization of specific online examination systems. To address this underrepresentation, the current article investigates the factors and criteria that influence students' intent to use the OEP. The authors conceptualize the model using UTAUT as a theoretical foundation, which is absent from the published literature on the OEP. The study incorporated UTAUT and TTF to determine the impact on OEP usage and intent. In addition, the study contributes by testing the moderating effect of TTF on the UTAUT variables that influence the intention to use OEP.
