In the present study, a bio-based composite was prepared by reacting chitosan and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) with citric acid (CA) and its ability to remove heavy metals [Cr (VI), Pb (II), Ni (II), Zn (II), Cu (II)] from an aqueous media were investigated. The best removal efficiency of heavy metals was noticed for the bio-based composite which were characterized by Fourier-transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA). The effects of pH, contact time and the initial concentrations of chromium (IV), copper (II), lead (II), nickel (II) and zinc (II) on adsorption process were studied. The optimum conditions for the adsorption of heavy metals on chitosan/CMC bio-based composites were found between pH 2-6 and a contact time between 5-10 mints and initial concentration between 50-70 ppm. The FT-IR spectrum of chitosan/CMC with CA composite was clearly shown the presence of a peak at 1736 cm-1 which represents the formation of ester linkages between the two polymers (the citrate crosslinks). The SEM results were shown the homogeneous morphology of the composite. Around 50%-90% of heavy metals were removed from an aqueous media by chitosan/CMC bio-based composite. Furthermore, the results have shown that the adsorption process follows a pseudo-second order rate model generally while the Langmuir-Freundlich adsorption isotherm provides the best fit with a maximum adsorption capacity from 33.77 to 82.24 mg/g at 25 oC.

Dieses Working Paper ist das Ergebnis eines Experiments: Im Rahmen des Seminars Let’s talk about love! Linguistische und kulturhistorische Forschungen zu Liebesbriefen, das im Sommersemester 2021 an der Technischen Universität Darmstadt angeboten wurde, haben Studierende Transkriptionen und Basiserschließungen mit Briefmetadaten und Annotationen zahlreicher Liebesbriefe aus dem Bestand des Liebesbriefarchivs, das in der UB Koblenz aufbewahrt wird, erstellt. Alle Beteiligten hatten dabei mehrere Herausforderungen zu meistern: Zum einen galt es mit dem Umstand des pandemiebedingten digitalen Semesters zurechtzukommen. Zum anderen kamen im Seminar Studierende aus mehreren unterschiedlichen Studiengängen zusammen, was eine Vielfalt an unterschiedlichen Vorerfahrungen bezüglich der Transkription und Annotation von Textzeugen sowie an unterschiedlichen Leistungsvoraussetzungen der einzelnen Studierenden mit sich brachte. Anstelle der üblichen Hausarbeiten wurden daher als Seminarleistung von einzelnen Studierenden Aufsätze über seminarbezogene Themen erstellt, die wir nun neben einem Überblick über das Koblenzer Liebesbriefarchiv, das aktuelle Citizen-Science-Projekt Gruß & Kuss sowie über das durchgeführte Seminar in diesem Working Paper präsentieren.

Purpose: The primary purpose of this paper is to investigate the green entrepreneurial inclination of youth and sustainable development in Sultanate of Oman. It has a secondary objective of stimulating more research in areas identified as still being under‐explored. Theoretical framework: Researchers in the field of entrepreneurial intentions identified that certain personality traits as mentioned by META which are crucial for entrepreneurial intentions. Afterwards, Entrepreneurial Potential Model (EPM), which focused over innovative skills was introduced to measure entrepreneurial intentions. Design/methodology/approach The paper is discursive using quantitative research methodology, based on analysis and synthesis of green entrepreneurial literature the framework was developed. The data has been collected from 384 students studying in Dhofar University and University and Technology and Applied Sciences, Salalah. Structural Equation modelling has been conducted to test the model. Findings: Despite a broad spectrum of disciplines that investigate green entrepreneurial inclination and despite this special issue in the area of entrepreneurship, there are still areas open for research into green entrepreneurial intentions. The paper develops a model to explain green entrepreneurial inclination. Research, Practical and Social implications: As empirical research, the study offers the benefit of new research directions for researchers/ universities in understanding and promoting the culture of green entrepreneurship among university students. Originality/Value; The paper links a significant body of literature within a unifying theoretical framework and identifies under‐researched areas of green entrepreneurial inclination of youth in an entrepreneurship context.
