This study was conducted to find out the effectiveness of Layered Instructional Strategy (LIS) based on the Elaboration Theory given by Charles M. Reigeluth on the learning achievement of secondary school students in the subject of English. Main objectives were to develop an understanding about instructional strategy, to ascertain the difference between layered Instructional strategy and traditional method, and to compare the learning competencies/abilities of the students taught through layered Instructional Strategy and the students who received traditional instruction. Furthermore, the influence of LIS on writing skills of students taught through LIS and Traditional Method. To achieve these objectives, two leading research questions were formulated. Students studying in Class IX constituted the population of the study. The students of Class IX of Federal Government Secondary School, I-9/4, Islamabad were taken conveniently as sample of the study. The sample was divided into two groups after equating them on the basis of scores on pre-test. Each group comprised of 31 students. One group was randomly taken as experimental group and the other one as control. The treatment was given to the experimental group whereas the control group received traditional instruction. The experiment continued for 12 weeks. Post-test was administered immediate after the treatment was over to the whole sample to obtain final data. Data were analyzed through SPSS version 15.0 by applying independent sample t-test. The analysis of data revealed that the experimental group performed significantly better than the control group. LIS was found better instructional strategy when it was compared with traditional instructional technique under experimental setting.

Pakistan has a land-based economy that is heavily dependent on farming. It provides 29% of GDP. Put 55% of the labor force to work while supporting 70% of the population in some capacity. The export of agricultural raw materials and completed products produced by agro-based industries accounts for 80% of the country's GDP. Rangelands cover roughly half of the nation's land area. Punjab is well irrigated province of Pakistan. The study on socio economic conditions of Farmers in said district was under taken with prime objective to focus on existing position of Farmers in the field of agriculture. Many socioeconomic, institutional and biophysical factors are causing high wheat yield variation among wheat growers in the country in general and in the Punjab province in specific. Study was conducted in the different divisions of the Punjab. A sample of 737 respondents was selected conveniently. Pre- tested interview schedule was used to collect the information. An unpaired ttest was used to test the differences in the socioeconomic factors and farm sizes on the wheat production. Findings reported that majority of the farmer used traditional method and facing difficulties in the adaptation of hybrid seed and technology due to different socio-economic constraints. In conclusion report also highlights the factors affecting the technological intervention in the farming system. It also specifies the role of gender in the agriculture. Transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) plays a critical role in regulating trophoblast invasion and proliferation. Growth differentiation factor-8 (GDF-8) is a member of the TGF-β superfamily and is categorized as a myostatin subtype. It is primarily a secreted protein synthesized in skeletal muscle cells. It is expressed in the placenta, reproductive tissues, and cells. In this study, we investigated the role of GDF-8 in the development and hatching rate of bovine embryos. We noted a notable elevation (p < 0.05) in the development and hatching rates compared to the control embryos. Furthermore, the GDF-8 group showed a significantly improved total cell number (p < 0.05) and an increase in trophectoderm ratio inner cell mass (trophectoderm: inner cell mass) cells (p < 0.001) compared to the control group. Additionally, blastocysts treated with GDF-8 exhibited significantly higher mRNA levels of caudal-type homeobox 2 (CDX2) (p < 0.05). The trophoblast invasion area was significantly larger in the GDF-8 group than in the control group (p < 0.01). Furthermore, qRT-PCR analysis revealed significantly higher mRNA levels (p < 0.05) of matrix metalloproteinases 9 (MMP9) and follistatin-like 3(FSTL3), both of which are associated with the ALK5-SMAD2/3 signaling pathway, in the GDF-8 group than those in the control group. The mRNA expression levels of genes related to tight junctions (TJ) and adherent junctions were higher in the GDF-8 group than those in the control group (p < 0.05). After 24 h of thawing, blastocysts were analyzed using 4-kDa FITC-dextran, which revealed a higher TJ integrity in the GDF-8 group (p < 0.01). Cherries (subg. Cerasus) belong to Prunus s.l. (Rosaceae) and are widely distributed in temperate and subtropical regions of the Northern Hemisphere. Given its ornamental and edible functions, it is a hugely preferred germplasm resource for human societies. However, the interspecific phylogenetic relationships, divergence times, and routes of this subgenus remain unclear. To reveal its enigmatic and intricate evolutionary history, we newly sequenced 12 subg. Cerasus species, reconstructed the plastome phylogeny with 24 previously published subg. Cerasus species. This study supports that subg. Cerasus split into five clades, among which P. mahaleb is the basal group of subg. Cerasus ; P. campanulata is genetically distantly related to P. cerasoides and is not recommended for treatment as a variety of the latter; P. subhirtella is involved in the speciation of P. yedoensis. Molecular dating and ancestral area reconstructions infer that subg. Cerasus originated in the Eastern Mediterranean–Central Asia before 11.57 Mya (95% HPD = 5.34–19.1 Mya) and subsequently spread into the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau (QTP) and adjacent regions. The first dispersal event of modern subg. Cerasus was facilitated by 'out-of-QTP', colonizing North America across the Bering Land Bridge and re-dispersing into Europe from the Late Miocene to Pliocene and forming the initial distribution pattern of extant subg. Cerasus in the Pliocene; The end of the Quaternary glacial period witnessed a second dispersal event, and core subg. The differential diagnosis for oncocytic renal tumors spans the spectrum from benign entities to more aggressive renal cell carcinomas (RCC). Recent work has characterized a provisional renal oncocytic neoplasm, namely the low-grade oncocytic tumor (LOT), which demonstrates overlapping morphologic features with oncocytoma and chromophobe RCC, but also has a unique immunoprofile (ie, diffusely positive for KRT7, negative for KIT) and a high rate (80% to 100%) of mTOR pathway gene alterations. Given the diagnostic overlap among oncocytic tumors, we looked for concordance between mTOR pathway mutations and LOT. Thirty low-grade renal oncocytic neoplasms underwent histologic review and immunohistochemistry for KRT7 and KIT. Tumors were classified as "determinate" (eg, LOT) for tumors with solid, nested or vaguely tubular growth and diffuse KRT7 staining and negative KIT, or "indeterminate" if the morphology and/or immunostains did not fully support a definitive LOT diagnosis. Next-generation sequencing was performed without any knowledge of the diagnoses, and identified mTOR pathway mutations in 80% (12/15) of the determinate tumors, compared with 7% (1/15) in the indeterminate group. One determinate tumor was reclassified as papillary RCC (MTOR mutation negative) and 6 indeterminate tumors were confirmed to be oncocytoma (N = 4), clear cell RCC or papillary RCC with reverse polarity, respectively. Overall, integration of morphology, immunohistochemistry, and molecular data enabled a final definitive diagnosis for 70% of tumors (21 of the total 30), with a high concordance (93%) for LOT specifically in the determinate group; the remaining 9 tumors (30%) were classified as renal oncocytic neoplasm, not otherwise specified.
