Data dissemination in mobile opportunistic networks needs to tackle sparse node density, high mobility and intermittent communications. Because end-to-end routing paths are not available due to fragile network topology, the store-carry-and-forward data delivery model is adopted to route messages in a delay-tolerant manner. This paper proposes a message forwarding scheme based on movement patterns. This scheme exploits two-hop movement information in geographic neighborhood and devises a relay node selection policy in mobile opportunistic networks. Selected relay nodes have higher probability of handing over carried messages to either destinations or encountered nodes moving closer to destinations. Simulated results show that the proposed scheme obtains considerable performance of successful delivery ratio and messaging overhand under the TVCM and SPMM mobility models.
