Peruvian artist Jorge Eduardo Eielson (1924-2006) offers a rich collection of works (written, plastic and performative) that reveals his interest in exploring the nature of verbal language and other artistic codes. One of the axes of his work is the question of the limits of language, understood as looking into the process by which words acquire and lose meaning and how this affects the possibility of producing relevant and autonomous poetic universes. All through this exploration, Eielson arrives to the use of wordplay as a way to evince the contradictions or limitations of language when expressing or creating realities; as a consequence, his poems change from referential constructions to metalinguistic artifacts, where wordplay does not privilege ambiguity but serves two roles: first, it becomes a way of exploring how traditional poetical mechanisms, especially stylistic devices based on repetition (phonetic or morphosyntactic), bring out the physical nature of language (shape, color, sound). Second, it leads to the question of meaning, especially when it is confronted with images. When Eielson starts to doubt the referential capability of verbal language, he begins to use it as a mixed system of verbal and non-verbal signs, ranging from the abnormal use of capital letters to the inclusion of images that pushes written language to a stage located on the edge of the text. In Eielson’s poetry, wordplay demands to be analyzed beyond paradigmatic or syntagmatic choice, describing the complete operation of the graphic wordplay as more than texts mixed with drawings; instead, it is a metalinguistic strategy that brings the reader inside the context of the wordplay, keeping the process of interpretation on the limit between the inside (the poem) and the outside (the visual referent/object). The study of Eielson’s use of wordplay is central not only to the understanding of his work as a whole but also to widen the analysis of wordplay in a literary corpus.

Le concept d’anachronisme peut être exemplifié dans l’œuvre d’Eielson, plus particulièrement dans ses essais sur les peuples précolombiens et ses Quipus. Il n’y a rien des quipus dans les Quipus d’Eielson, en ce qui correspond à sa forme, sa structure, son but ; on pourrait objecter qu’il faudrait respecter le lieu et objectif des quipus incas pour mieux les comprendre, mais le passé n’offre pas de description, traduction ou explication de ces quipus et, même s’il le faisait, probablement le lieu du quipu pour les incas ne pouvait rien nous dire dans la modernité. Il faut, comme affirme Didi-Huberman, avoir une attitude anachronique pour mettre en lumière ces codes si lointains et en même temps si proches de l’identité culturelle de l’Amérique latine ; Eielson récupère le quipu comme une image passée qui revient au présent en restant sur le seuil.

The act of consuming became the life purpose for many individuals, and the reason for overexploitation and environmental degradation. The changing of consumption patterns emerges as a possible solution through consumer awareness about the impact of their actions, which depends on reformulation of many concepts and values from an engaged environmental education, mainly in changing consumer profile and the means of production. With consumers more aware, the business sector will adopt more responsible standards in order to survive to the most rigorous market and avoid a future shortage. The Natura Cosmetics SA, for example, is considered as a company with sustainable profile, which has social and environmental concerns in their production processes, as well as programs and projects. The company's stance, therefore, can serve as an example to society and be a precursor of changes related to individual`s environmental attitudes. The company’s marketing method is realized through direct sales, which allows a closer relationship between seller and consumer, and therefore a possibility of environmental education. If the company`s consultants consider and follow the values of the company in their daily attitudes and professionals, the dissemination of ideas about conscious consumption and consequently a brand valuation will take place. The present work is a study about the influence of corporate values and practices adopted by the company Natura Cosmetics S.A. in daily life of a group of consultants. This work is characterized by a case study, through observation of consultants meetings, interviews and document analysis, whit the aim assessing whether the environmental actions adopted by the company reach, in fact, its consultants both in daily life as in their sales, discussing the educational potential that the company has and the opportunities which it offers. From the results obtained it is clear that interviewees encourage consumption under the pretext of preserving and enhancing domestic products of the company , that is, potential environmental education for the enhancement of the brand in the market is probably not addressed efficiently. O ato de consumir virou a razão de viver de muitos indivíduos, e o motivo para uma superexploração e degradação do ambiente. A mudança dos padrões de consumo surge como uma possível solução por meio da conscientização dos consumidores sobre o impacto de suas ações, a qual depende da reformulação de diversos conceitos e valores, a partir da educação ambiental engajada, principalmente na mudança de perfil do consumidor e dos meios de produção. Com consumidores mais consciente, o setor empresarial, adotará padrões mais responsáveis para sobreviver ao mercado mais exigente e evitar um futuro de escassez. A Natura Cosméticos S.A., por exemplo, é considerada uma empresa com perfil sustentável, que possui preocupações socioambientais em seus processos produtivos, além de programas e projetos. A postura da empresa, portanto, pode servir como um exemplo para a sociedade e ser precursora de mudanças relativas a atitudes ambientais dos indivíduos. A forma de comercialização dos produtos é realizada por meio da venda direta, o que permite uma relação mais próxima entre vendedor e consumidor e, portanto, uma possibilidade de educação ambiental. Se os consultores da empresa considerarem e seguirem os valores dessa em suas atitudes cotidianas e profissionais, ocorrerá a disseminação de ideias sobre consumo consciente e consequentemente uma valorização da marca. O presente trabalho é um estudo de caso sobre a influência dos valores e p rá ticas corporativas adotadas pela empresa Natura S.A. no cotidiano de um grupo de consultores atuantes na cidade de Sorocaba (SP). O estudo de caso, nesse trabalho, se dá por meio da observação em reuniões de consultores, entrevistas e análise documental, se propõe a avaliar se as ações socioambientais adotadas pela empresa atingem, de fato, seus consultores tanto no cotidiano quanto nas vendas, discutindo-se o potencial educacional que a empresa possui e as possibilidades da qual ela dispõe. A partir dos resultados obtidos percebe-se que os entrevistados incentivam o consumo sob o pretexto de preservar e valorizar os produtos nacionais da empresa, ou seja, potencial de educação ambiental para a valorização da marca no mercado provavelmente não é abordado de forma eficiente. São necessária, portanto, estratégias diferenciadas de educação para o ambiente, compatíveis com as atitudes de vender e educar.

At this paper we shown the development of an algorithm to perform edges extraction based on fuzzy logic theory. This method allows recognizing landmarks on the game field for Humanoid League of RoboCup. The proposed algorithm describes the creation of a fuzzy inference system that permit evaluate the existent relationship between image pixels, finding variations on grey levels of related neighbor pixels. Subsequently, it shows an implementation of OTSU method to binarize an image that was obtained from fuzzy process and so generate an image containing only extracted edges, validating the algorithm with Humanoid League images. Later, we analyze obtained results that evidence a good performance of algorithm, considering that this proposal only takes an extra 35% processing time that will be required by traditional methods, whereas extracted edges are 52% less noise susceptible. Este artículo presenta el desarrollo de un algoritmo para la extracción de bordes basado en la teoría de lógica difusa, mediante el cual es posible reconocer las marcas de un campo de juego para la liga humanoide de RoboCup. El algoritmo propuesto describe la creación de un sistema de inferencia difuso que permite evaluar la relación existente entre los pixeles de una imagen, encontrando así las variaciones en los niveles de gris para una vecindad de pixeles específica. Posteriormente se plantea la implementación del método OTSU para binarizar la imagen obtenida en el proceso difuso y así generar una imagen que contiene solo los bordes extraídos, validando el algoritmo en imágenes de la liga humanoide. Luego se analizan los resultados obtenidos evidenciando el buen desempeño del algoritmo, considerando que el tiempo de procesamiento de la propuesta es tan solo el 35% más del tiempo necesario en métodos tradicionales, mientras que los bordes extraídos son unos 52% menos susceptibles al ruido.

Introducción: la medición de la densidad mineral ósea en el fémur y columna lumbar es considerada la prueba de oro para el diagnóstico de osteoporosis en mujeres postmenopáusicas, sin tener suficiente evidencia de la utilidad al medir de manera individual o simultanea el radio 33 con este mismo propósito. Metodología Se realizó un estudio de pruebas diagnósticas, valorando concordancia anidada para determinar el valor diagnóstico del radio 33 comparado con los resultados por dual fémur y columna, actualmente patrón de oro el en diagnóstico. Se incluyeron mujeres mayores de 50 años entre el periodo de 2008 y 2011. Resultados Se incluyeron 3241 osteodensitometrias de pacientes femeninas con columna AP, dual fémur, radio ultradistal y radio 33. Tomando como estándar de oro la medición en columna y/o femur, el radio-33 obtuvo una sensibilidad de 95.5% y especificidad de 91% (p= 0,000) para osteoporosis, y una sensibilidad de 76.5% y especificidad de 54.9% p=0,000 para el diagnóstico de osteopenia. El radio 33 permite diagnosticar un 35% adicional de casos que no son captados con la medición en fémur y columna lumbar. Discusión La osteodensitometría en los sitios usados comúnmente, predice únicamente el 40% del riesgo de fractura (1). Si se incluye la medición de radio 33, la sensibilidad de la osteodensitometría sube en un 35.66% adicional, logrando detectar más pacientes con este riesgo y generando un impacto en la oportunidad del tratamiento y quizás reducción en la morbi-mortalidad secundaria a fracturas en esta población susceptible. Introduction The measurement of bone density in lumbar spine and hip is considered the gold standard for the diagnosis of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. No one knows the impact of the simultaneous measurement on radio 33. Methods We performed a diagnostic test study with a nested concordance study to determine the diagnostic value of radius-33 compared to the diagnosis made by gold standar in osteoporosis. We included women over 50 years with menopause in the period between 2008 and 2011. Results A total of 3241 female patients who had a column osteodensitometry AP, dual femur and forearm ultradistal radius and 33 % were included. On the diagnostic gold standard for column and / or hip, radius -33 had a sensitivity of 95.5 % and specificity of 91 % ( p = 0.000) for osteoporosis and a sensitivity of 76.5 % and specificity of 54.9 % p = 0.000 for the diagnosis of osteopenia. The radius 33 diagnosed an additional 35% of cases that were not diagnosed with gold standar tests. Discussion Osteodensitometry commonly used sites predicts only 40 % of the risk of fracture(1) . If we include measuring radius 33 osteodensitometry sensitivity increase an additional 35.66 %, thereby detecting more patients at risk for fracture. Carrying an impact on the timeliness of care and perhaps reducing morbidity and mortality from fractures.

The diverse fabric of life which comprises Gibraltar encompasses various ethnic backgrounds including but not limited to; Maltese, East Indian, Moroccan, Italian, Spaniard, and Sephardic Jews. The aim of this thesis is to examine the contribution of the Sephardic Jew in respect to the cultural and economic development of the Gibraltarian. This is accomplished by highlighting the historical relationships between the countries of Spain, England, and Morocco with their Jewish population, and secondly by using both primary and secondary research materials to delve into the daily life of a Sephardic Jew during the early colonial development of Gibraltar between 1704 to the mid nineteenth century when the social identity of the Gibraltarian manifested. Gibraltar's unique cultural identity is further examined by applying various components of cultural theorist's philosophies creating a distinct cultural ideology exclusive to Gibraltar. It is precisely the uniqueness of Gibraltar which makes it such a difficult area to categorize and yet such an intriguing region to study.

Human Factors and Human Behavior analyses have proven to be highly relevant in this context. One study specifically examines possibilities to model scenarios in a PSO with PAX in which the military is tasked to assist in building and operating refugee camps, and especially to ensure order and security. PAX is planned to be used to support decision makers in assessing and evaluating ROE (Rules of Engagements) applying the basic use of force guidelines for the soldier in PSO missions.

The current study examined the prevalence of co-occurring woman abuse and poverty in a sample of mothers from the Children’s Aid Society of London/Middlesex. This study sought to determine the extent to which domestic violence and poverty influence the parenting abilities of single mothers by examining parenting capacity scores on the Ontario Risk Assessment Model (ORAM). The findings indicated that poverty compromised the parenting abilities of mothers in this sample. This study challenged current literature on domestic violence and parenting, which emphasizes deficiencies in the parenting of women who are experiencing abuse, by indicating that survivors of domestic violence may be compensating for the abuse they are experiencing. Furthermore, co-occurring poverty and violence was not subject to a cumulative negative effect on parenting. Implications of the findings for both practitioners and policy makers in the fields of domestic violence, child welfare, and social assistance are discussed.

When using the digital halftone proofing systems, a closer print match can be achieved compared to what earlier couldbe done with the analogue proofing systems. These proofing systems possibilities to produce accurate print match canas well lead to producing bad print matches as several print related parameters can be adjusted manually in the systemby the user. Therefore, more advanced knowledge in graphic arts technology is required by the user of the system.The prepress company Colorcraft AB wishes to control that their color proofs always have the right quality. This projectwas started with the purpose to find a quality control metod for Colorcraft´s digital halftone proofing system(Kodak Approval XP4).Using a software who supports spectral measuring combined with a spectrophotometer and a control bar, a qualitycontrol system was assembled. This system detects variations that lies out of the proofing system´s natural deviation.The prerequisite for this quality control system is that the tolerances are defined with consideration taken to the proofingsystems natural deviations. Othervise the quality control system will generate unnecessecary false alarms and thereforenot be reliable.
