Abstract

The evoked electromyographic responses to supramaximal train of four stimulation of three muscles, all innervated by the ulnar nerve, were compared during recovery from non-depolarising neuromuscular blockade. The abductor digiti minimi was the most resistant to neuromuscular blockade (P <0.001) and the most repeatable (repeatability coefficient 4.4%) when compared with the adductor pollicis (5.9%) and the first dorsal interosseous (5.8%). The abductor digiti minimi had a bias of 0.1 compared to the adductor pollicis and first dorsal interosseous and its limits of agreement were more acceptable (-0.10 to 0.30) at a train of four ratio of 0.9. The electromyography train of four of the adductor pollicis and first dorsal interosseous at 0.8 is equivalent to an electromyography train of four of 0.9 at abductor digiti minimi.

Abstract

This job shows a mathematical formulation in order to study the torsional behavior in a fexible rotor. The model starts calculating kinetic energy, potential energy and the Rayleigh dissipation function. From both, energy expressions and by means of the Finite Element Method, get the fnite element of a single disk. Integrating it, we can get the expression to the rotor element. Using the Lagrange Equations is possible deduce the equations system of movement in order to study the rotors dynamic including torsional behavior.The mathematical model has into account the main components of the system: First, the support structure whit its bearings, and secondly the rotative part. Both of them are modeled using different analytical technics, so it uses the component synthesis in order to introduce the behavior of the support structure where the rotor is grounded. The developed mathematical model calculates both, the model parameters stationary response and resolves the transitory state., Este trabajo de investigación presenta un planteamiento matemático para el análisis dinámico de rotores flexibles. Parte de las expresiones de la energía cinética, potencial y función de disipación de Rayleigh generadas para un disco mediante el Método de los Elementos Finitos. Luego, integrando a lo largo de la longitud del elemento, se obtienen las expresiones para un elemento de rotor. Aplicando las ecuaciones de Lagrange se deducen las ecuaciones de movimiento del sistema. La modelización matemática se realiza para las componentes principales: los apoyos, elementos no necesariamente rígidos que se denominan "estáticos" aún cuando están sujetos a vibraciones, y la parte rotativa. Las dos partes requieren de técnicas distintas de simulación dinámica, lo cual hace necesario aplicar, en este caso, las conocidas "Técnicas de Síntesis de Componentes" para aprovechar los resultados obtenidos de la simulación independiente de cada parte. La interacción entre la parte "estática" y la parte rotativa, a través de los apoyos, genera unos esfuerzos de acción reacción, mediante los cuales es posible acoplar los sistemas de ecuaciones de las dos partes.El modelo matemático desarrollado, calcula los parámetros modales y la respuesta en el estado estacionario y transitorio, teniendo en cuenta, o no, el propio peso, la no linealidad en los apoyos y principalmente la flexibilidad a torsión del rotor. El sistema de ecuaciones se linealiza a través del método iterativo de Newton Raphson y las ecuaciones se integran utilizando el método de Newmark.

Abstract

The lack of persistence of infused T cells is a principal limitation of adoptive immunotherapy in man. Interleukin (IL)-15 can sustain memory T cell expansion when presented in complex with IL-15Rα (15Rα/15). We developed a novel in-vitro system for generation of stable 15Rα/15 complexes. Immunologically quantifiable amounts of IL-15 were obtained when both IL-15Rα and IL-15 genes were co-transduced in NIH 3T3 fibroblast-based artificial antigen-presenting cells expressing human leucocyte antigen (HLA) A:0201, β2 microglobulin, CD80, CD58 and CD54 [A2-artificial antigen presenting cell (AAPC)] and a murine pro-B cell line (Baf-3) (A2-AAPC15Rα/15and Baf-315Rα/15). Transduction of cells with IL-15 alone resulted in only transient expression of IL-15, with minimal amounts of immunologically detectable IL-15. In comparison, cells transduced with IL-15Rα alone (A2-AAPCRα) demonstrated stable expression of IL-15Rα; however, when loaded with soluble IL-15 (sIL-15), these cells sequestered 15Rα/15 intracellularly and also demonstrated minimal amounts of IL-15. Human T cells stimulated in vitro against a viral antigen (CMVpp65) in the presence of 15Rα/15 generated superior yields of high-avidity CMVpp65 epitope-specific T cells [cytomegalovirus-cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CMV-CTLs)] responding to ≤ 10− 13 M peptide concentrations, and lysing targets cells at lower effector : target ratios (1 : 10 and 1 : 100), where sIL-15, sIL-2 or sIL-7 CMV-CTLs demonstrated minimal or no activity. Both soluble and surface presented 15Rα/15, but not sIL-15, sustained in-vitro expansion of CD62L+ and CCR7+ central memory phenotype CMV-CTLs (TCM). 15Rα/15 complexes represent a potent adjuvant for augmenting the efficacy of adoptive immunotherapy. 223. Stratification of Heterogeneity in the Lithosphere of Mars From Envelope Modeling of Event S1222a and Near Impacts: Interpretation and Implications for Very‐High‐Frequency Events

Abstract

We have modeled the high‐frequency seismogram envelopes of the large event S1222a and four recently identified near impacts recorded by the InSight mission by introducing a stratification of velocity and attenuation into a multiple‐scattering approach. We show that a simple conceptual model composed of a strongly diffusive, weakly attenuating layer overlying a transparent medium captures the essential features of the observed envelopes. The attenuation profiles reveal that the minimal extension of heterogeneities at depth is of the order of 20 km in the vicinity of InSight and 60 km on the path to S1222a. We interpret this result as an indication that the Martian crust as a whole is at the origin of the strong scattering. Our heterogeneity model suggests that the sources of a number of distant Very‐high‐Frequency seismic events are shallow and located to the south or in close vicinity of the Martian dichotomy. The seismometers deployed at the surface of Mars in the framework of the Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport mission have recently recorded seismic waves generated by meteorite impacts and a very large Marsquake. These exceptional data offer the opportunity to study how seismic waves propagate in the interior of Mars and more particularly how they attenuate. This is an important topic because attenuation characterizes the physical state of planetary interiors. There are two basic mechanisms at the origin of seismic attenuation: “absorption,” which is highly sensitive to the presence of fluids—such as water—in the porosity of the rocks and “scattering,” which is caused by the geological heterogeneity at length scales ranging from tens of meters to kilometers. Using advanced modeling techniques which allow for the separate quantification of the two processes, we have determined that scattering is the dominant seismic attenuation mechanism on Mars, that originates from a heterogeneous and dry crust. In the light of this result, we have revised previous interpretations of specific seismic events with a predominantly high‐frequency content and propose that they originate from the vicinity of a major geological feature known as the Martian dichotomy.
