Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of sacubitril/valsartan on right ventricular (RV) function in patients with pulmonary hypertension (PH) due to heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). We prospectively enrolled patients with HFrEF‐induced PH admitted to the Department of Cardiology between August 2018 and December 2019. Patients were randomized to receive oral treatment with sacubitril/valsartan or enalapril. Epidemiological data were recorded before treatment. Echocardiography was performed at admission and 6 months of follow‐up, and all parameters were compared. Major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) were compared between baseline and 6 months follow‐up. There were no significant differences in the baseline characteristics between the two groups. BackgroundElderly patients with cancer face the challenge of systemic inflammation, which can lead to a poor prognosis. Existing inflammatory indices cannot fully reflect the immune-inflammatory status of patients. This study aimed to develop a new scoring system to predict the survival of elderly patients with cancer using inflammatory indices, namely, the systemic inflammation prognostic score (SIPS).Materials and MethodsThis prospective multicenter study included a total of 1,767 patients with cancer, with a mean age of 70.97 ± 5.49 years, of whom 1,170 (66.2%) were men. We performed the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression to screen inflammatory indicators to include in constructing SIPS. Prognostic analysis of SIPS was performed using univariate and multivariate survival analyzes. The prognostic value of SIPS and its components were compared using the prognostic receiver operating characteristic curve and concordance index. The population was divided into the training cohort and the validation cohort in a 7:3 ratio and a SIPS prognostic analysis was performed.ResultsThe LASSO regression selected C-reactive protein (CRP) (≤ 9.81, “0”; > 9.81, “1”), geriatric nutritional risk index (GNRI) (≤ 93.85, “1”; 93.85, “0”), advanced lung cancer inflammation index (ALI) (≤ 23.49, “1”; > 23.49, “0”), and lymphocyte to C-reactive protein ratio (LCR) (≤ 2523.81, “1”; > 2523.81, “0”) to develop SIPS. Patients were divided into the three groups based on the total SIPS: low-risk (0), moderate-risk (1–2), and high-risk (3–4). On the multivariate survival analysis, patients in the moderate-risk [P < 0.001, hazard ratio (HR) = 1.79, 95% CI: 1.47–2.17] and high-risk groups (P < 0.001, HR = 2.40, 95% CI: 1.98–2.92) showed a worse prognosis than those in the low-risk group. The total cohort, training cohort, and validation cohort all showed that SIPS had better survival prediction than CRP, GNRI, ALI, and LCR. The HRs were 2.81 times higher in patients in the high-risk group with malnutrition than in patients in the low-risk group without malnutrition.ConclusionSIPS was an independent prognostic indicator in elderly patients with cancer. Malnutrition in the high-risk group increased the mortality risk.

BackgroundCachexia is one of the most common complications affecting lung cancer patients that seriously affects their quality-of-life and survival time. This study aimed to analyze the predictors and prognostic factors of lung cancer cachexia as well as to develop a convenient and accurate clinical prediction tool for oncologists.MethodsIn this multicenter cohort study, 4022 patients with lung cancer were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were randomly categorized into training and verification sets (7:3 ratio). Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to determine the risk factors of cachexia in patients with lung cancer. Cox regression analysis was applied to determine independent prognostic factors in the patients with lung cancer cachexia. Meanwhile, two nomograms were established and evaluated by time-dependent receiver operating characteristic curve, calibration curve, and decision curve analysis (DCA).ResultsStage, serum albumin, ALI, anemia, and surgery were independent risk factors for cachexia in patients with lung cancer. Patients with lung cancer cachexia have a shorter survival time. Sex, stage, serum albumin, ALI, KPS score, and surgery served as independent prognostic factors for patients with lung cancer cachexia. The area under the curves (AUCs) of diagnostic nomogram in the training and validation sets were 0.702 and 0.688, respectively, the AUCs of prognostic nomogram in the training set for 1-, 3-, and 5-year were 0.70, 0.72, and 0.75, respectively, while in the validation set the AUCs were 0.71, 0.75, and 0.79, respectively. The calibration curves and DCA of the two nomograms were consistent and the clinical benefit rate was high.ConclusionCachexia brings an additional economic burden and worsens the prognosis of lung cancer patients. The two nomograms can accurately screen and predict the probability of occurrence of cachexia in lung cancer and the prognosis of patients with lung cancer cachexia, and guide clinical work.

BackgroundSystemic inflammation and insulin resistance (IR) are closely related in patients with cancer. However, there is no relevant indicator that combines inflammation and IR to predict patient prognosis. Therefore, this study aimed to develop and validate a novel inflammation- and IR-related marker in patients with cancer.MethodsThe total cohort of this study included 5221 patients with cancer, and the training and validation cohorts were randomized in a 7:3 ratio. C-reactive protein (CRP) and fasting triglyceride glucose (TyG) were used to reflect patients’ inflammation and IR status, respectively. The CRP-TyG index (CTI) was composed of CRP and TyG. The concordance (C)-index, receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve, and calibration curve reflected the prognostic predictive power of CTI. Univariate and multivariate survival analyses predicted the prognostic value of CTI in patients with cancer.ResultsThe C-indices of CTI in patients with cancer were 0.636, 0.617, and 0.631 in the total, training, and validation cohorts, respectively. The 1-, 3-, and 5-year ROC and calibration curves showed that CTI had a good predictive ability of survival in patients with cancer. Meanwhile, patients with high CTI had a worse prognosis compared to patients with low CTI (total cohort: hazard ratio [HR] = 1.46, 95% confidence interval [95% CI] = 1.33–1.59; training cohort: HR = 1.36, 95% CI = 1.22–1.52; validation cohort: HR = 1.73, 95% CI = 1.47–2.04].ConclusionThe CTI is a useful prognostic indicator of poor prognosis and a promising tool for treatment strategy decision-making in patients with cancer.

Abstract. Rationale:. Persistent leukocytosis with megalosplenia is a common manifestation among patients with myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN), especially for chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) patients. Here, we report a rare case of myeloid neoplasm with BCR-PDGFRA rearrangement characterized by obvious elevation of leukocyte count and megalosplenia. Patient concerns:. A 32-year-old man presented with persistent leukocytosis and megalosplenia. Diagnosis:. This patient was characterized by increased leukocyte count and megalosplenia, and was clinically diagnosed as CML. However, the BCR/ABL fusion gene of the patient was negative, which did not support CML. Moreover, the results of the karyotype showed 46, XY, t(4;22)(q12;q11) and RT-PCR + Sanger detection showed positive PDGFA/BCR. Accordingly, the diagnosis of myeloid neoplasm with BCR-PDGFA rearrangement was confirmed. Interventions:. This patient was initially received imatinib (400 mg) orally once a day, and the dosage was adjusted to 100 mg owing to suffering from grade IV bone marrow suppression. Outcomes:. Hematological remission was achieved after 2 weeks, the best treatment response was achieved after 3 months, and the main molecular biological response was achieved after 12 months. Lesson:. This case suggests that rare PDGFA fusion genes screening for patients comorbid with leukocytosis and megalosplenia is necessary to avoid misdiagnosis. Unlike other rearrangements of PDGFRA, the clinical manifestations of BCR-PDGFRA rearrangement are resembling CML without eosinophilia increase.

Ferroelectric tunnel junction (FTJ) has attracted considerable attention for its potential applications in nonvolatile memory and neuromorphic computing. However, the experimental exploration of FTJs with high ON/OFF ratios is a challenging task due to the vast search space comprising of ferroelectric and electrode materials, fabrication methods and conditions and so on. Here, machine learning (ML) is demonstrated to be an effective tool to guide the experimental search of FTJs with high ON/OFF ratios. A dataset consisting of 152 FTJ samples with nine features and one target attribute (i.e., ON/OFF ratio) is established for ML modeling. Among various ML models, the gradient boosting classification model achieves the highest prediction accuracy. Combining the feature importance analysis based on this model with the association rule mining, it is extracted that the utilizations of {graphene/graphite (Gra) (top), LaNiO3 (LNO) (bottom)} and {Gra (top), Ca[Formula: see text]Ce[Formula: see text]MnO3 (CCMO) (bottom)} electrode pairs are likely to result in high ON/OFF ratios in FTJs. Moreover, two previously unexplored FTJs: Gra/BaTiO3 (BTO)/LNO and Gra/BTO/CCMO, are predicted to achieve ON/OFF ratios higher than 1000. Guided by the ML predictions, the Gra/BTO/LNO and Gra/BTO/CCMO FTJs are experimentally fabricated, which unsurprisingly exhibit [Formula: see text]1000 ON/OFF ratios ([Formula: see text]8540 and [Formula: see text]7890, respectively). This study demonstrates a new paradigm of developing high-performance FTJs by using ML.

Abstract Background X‐ray repair cross‐complementary 5 (XRCC5) and 6 (XRCC6) are critical for DNA repair. Few studies have assessed their association with breast cancer risk, and related gene‐environment interactions remain poorly understood. This study aimed to determine the influence of XRCC5/6 polymorphisms on breast cancer risk, and their interactions with cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption, and sleep satisfaction. Methods The study included 1039 patients with breast cancer and 1040 controls. Four single‐nucleotide polymorphisms of XRCC5 and two of XRCC6 were genotyped. Information about smoking, alcohol consumption, and sleep satisfaction was collected through questionnaires. Odds ratios (OR) and related 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) were assessed using unconditional logistic regression models. Gene‐environment interactions were analyzed using logistic regression with multiplicative interaction models. Results XRCC5 rs16855458 was associated with increased breast cancer risk in the co‐dominant (ptrend = 0.003) and dominant (CA + AA vs. CC, OR = 1.29, 95% CI = 1.07–1.56, p = 0.008) genetic models after Bonferroni correction. The CG + GG genotype of XRCC6 rs2267437 was associated with an increased risk of estrogen receptor‐negative/progesterone receptor‐negative (ER−/PR−) breast cancer (CG + GG vs. CC: OR = 1.54, 95% CI = 1.12–2.13, p = 0.008) after Bonferroni correction. Moreover, an antagonistic interaction between XRCC5 rs16855458 and alcohol consumption (pinteraction = 0.017), and a synergistic interaction between XRCC6 rs2267437 and sleep satisfaction were associated with breast cancer risk (pinteraction = 0.0497). However, these interactions became insignificant after Bonferroni correction. Conclusion XRCC5 rs16855458 was associated with breast cancer risk, and XRCC6 rs2267437 was associated with the risk of ER−/PR− breast cancer. Breast cancer risk associated with XRCC5 and XRCC6 polymorphisms might vary according to alcohol consumption and sleep satisfaction, respectively, and merit further investigation.

Objectives: The role of asymptomatic infections in the transmission of COVID-19 have drawn considerable attention. Here, we performed a meta-analysis to summarize the epidemiological and radiographical characteristics of asymptomatic infections associated with COVID-19. Methods: Data on the epidemiological and radiographical characteristics of asymptomatic infections were extracted from the existing literature. Pooled proportions with 95% confidence intervals were then calculated using a random effects model. Results: A total of 104 studies involving 20,152 cases were included. The proportion of asymptomatic individuals among those with COVID-19 was 13.34% (10.86%–16.29%), among which presymptomatic and covert infections accounted for 7.64% (4.02%–14.04%) and 8.44% (5.12%–13.62%), respectively. The proportions of asymptomatic infections among infected children and healthcare workers were 32.24% (23.08%–42.13%) and 36.96% (18.51%–60.21%), respectively. The proportion of asymptomatic infections was significantly higher after 2020/02/29 than before (33.53% vs 10.19%) and in non-Asian regions than in Asia (28.76% vs 11.54%). The median viral shedding duration of asymptomatic infections was 14.14 days (11.25–17.04). A total of 47.62% (31.13%–72.87%) of asymptomatic infections showed lung abnormalities, especially ground-glass opacity (41.11% 19.7%–85.79%). Conclusions: Asymptomatic infections were more commonly found in infected children and healthcare workers and increased after 2020/02/29 and in non-Asian regions. Chest radiographical imaging could be conducive to the early identification of asymptomatic infections.

The local structures and the spin Hamiltonian parameters (SHPs) for Cu2+ in xBaO–(30–x)TeO2–10TiO2–58B2O3 (BTTB) glasses are theoretically investigated for various BaO concentrations (x = 10, 15, 20, and 25 mol %) in a uniform way. Attributed to the Jahn–Teller effect, the [CuO6]10– groups are found to experience the moderate tetragonal elongation distortions (characterized by the moderate relative tetragonal elongation ratios ρ ≈ 5.1–7.8%) along the C4 axis. With only three adjusted coefficients a, b, and ω, the relevant model parameters (Dq, k, ρ, κ, and H) are suitably described by the quasi-second order harmonic functions, and the measured concentration dependences of the d–d transition bands and SHPs are soundly reproduced. All the model parameters show fluctuations with the concentration x, reflecting the non-monotonic variations of the local crystal-field strength, electron cloud distribution and relative tetragonal elongation distortion with x. Two solvent-controlled Cd(II) compounds, formulated as {[Cd2(Htdc)4(µ-imyp)(H2O)4]} (1), [Cd2(µ2-tdc)2(µ-imyp)(DMF)2(H2O)2]n (2) (H2tdc= 2,5-thiophenedicarboxylic acid, imyp = 4-imidazol-1-yl-pyridine and DMF = N,N-dimethylformamide) have been synthesized by reactions of Cd(NO3)2·4H2O and H2tdc with imyp in different solvents, respectively. Both compounds were then characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and other physicochemical methods. In 1, partially deprotonated Htdc− anion as terminal ligand and µ-imyp ligand connect Cd2+ ions to generate a discrete structure. In 2, completely deprotonated µ2 – tdc2− anions and µ-imyp ligand link Cd2+ ions into a 1D double chain structure. Both compounds display 3D supramolecular structures through hydrogen bonding interactions. The results provided interesting insights into solvent effects on the structural formation of compounds 1 and 2. In addition, the solid-state photoluminescent properties of compounds 1 and 2 were also investigated. Neurodegenerative diseases constitute a broad category of diseases caused by the degeneration of the neurons. They are mainly manifested by the gradual loss of neuron structure and function and eventually can cause death or loss of neurons. As the global population ages rapidly, increased people are being diagnosed with neurodegenerative diseases. It has been established that the onset of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is closely linked with increasing age and its major pathological features include amyloid-beta plaques (Aβ), Tau hyperphosphorylation, Neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs), neuronal death as well as synaptic loss. The involvement of microglia is crucial in the pathogenesis and progression of AD and exhibits a dual role. For instance, in the early stage of AD, microglia surface membrane proteins or receptors can participate in immunophagocytosis, and anti-inflammatory functions and act as a physical barrier after recognizing various ligands such as Aβ and NFTs. However, in the later stage of the disease, membrane receptors on the surface of microglia can cause its activation to release a substantial quantity of pro-inflammatory factors. Which can amplify the neuroinflammatory response. The rapid decline of normal immune phagocytosis can result in the continuous accumulation of abnormal proteins, leading to neuronal dysfunction and destruction of the formed physical barrier as well as the neurovascular microenvironment. It can also increase the transformation of microglia from anti-inflammatory phenotype M2 to pro-inflammatory phenotype M1, induce severe neuronal injury or apoptosis, and aggravate the progression of AD. Due to few articles have focused on the AD-related membrane protein receptors on microglia, thus in this paper, we have reviewed several representative microglial membrane proteins or receptors about their specific roles and functions implicated in AD, and expect that there will be more indepth research and scientific research results in the treatment of AD by targeted regulation of microglia membrane protein receptors in the future. ZnO is a performance-rich material due to its unique coupling of piezoelectricity and semiconductor properties. However, the intrinsic piezoelectric screening effect of ZnO weakens the electromechanical conversion efficiency and greatly limits its application. To solve this dilemma, it has been recently shown that the piezoelectricity of ZnO can be enhanced by doping to suppress the screening effect, but the exact modulation mechanism remains an open question. Here, we take a new perspective to investigate the piezoelectricity modulation mechanism of Y-doped ZnO at the atomic scale. Both the experimental and simulation results verify the successful suppression of the piezoelectric screening effect. The underlying modulation mechanism of Y-doped ZnO is revealed from the perspective of carrier concentration, work function and bandgap width, respectively. The prepared Y-doped ZnO demonstrates a 97.8%-dropped carrier concentration and a significant improvement (nearly 8.5-fold) in the output performance. This work provides theoretical guidance for the design of ZnO-based piezoelectric devices and is expected to be generalized to other piezoelectric materials, which is of great significance for improving the energy conversion efficiency of piezoelectric devices. Abstract Background This study explored the prognostic significance of Glypican (GPC) family genes in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) after pancreaticoduodenectomy using data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO). Methods A total of 112 PDAC patients from TCGA and 48 patients from GEO were included in the analysis. The relationship between overall survival and the expression of GPC family genes as well as basic clinical characteristics was analyzed using the Kaplan-Meier method with the log-rank test. Joint effects survival analysis was performed to further examine the relationship between GPC genes and prognosis. A prognosis nomogram was established based on clinical characteristics and prognosis-related genes. Prognosis-related genes were investigated by genome-wide co-expression analysis and gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) was carried out to identify potential mechanisms of these genes affecting prognosis. Results In TCGA database, high expression of GPC2, GPC3, and GPC5 was significantly associated with favorable survival (log-rank P = 0.031, 0.021, and 0.028, respectively; adjusted P value = 0.005, 0.022, and 0.020, respectively), and joint effects analysis of these genes was effective for prognosis prediction. The prognosis nomogram was applied to predict the survival probability using the total scores calculated. Genome-wide co-expression and GSEA analysis suggested that the GPC2 may affect prognosis through sequence-specific DNA binding, protein transport, cell differentiation and oncogenic signatures (KRAS, RAF, STK33, and VEGFA). GPC3 may be related to cell adhesion, angiogenesis, inflammatory response, signaling pathways like Ras, Rap1, PI3K-Akt, chemokine, GPCR, and signatures like cyclin D1, p53, PTEN. GPC5 may be involved in transcription factor complex, TFRC1, oncogenic signatures (HOXA9 and BMI1), gene methylation, phospholipid metabolic process, glycerophospholipid metabolism, cell cycle, and EGFR pathway. Conclusion GPC2, GPC3, and GPC5 expression may serve as prognostic indicators in PDAC, and combination of these genes showed a higher efficiency for prognosis prediction.

BackgroundNon-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is among the most prevalent malignancies worldwide. Previous studies have shown that the status of inflammation, nutrition and immune are closely related to overall survival (OS) of patients with NSCLC, but little is known about their interactive and combined roles. Hence, we chose glucose to lymphocyte ratio (GLR) and modified Glasgow Prognosis Score (mGPS) as prognostic factors and assessed the prognostic values of them for patients with NSCLC.MethodsBaseline clinicopathologic and laboratory characteristics of 862 patients with NSCLC were obtained from a multicenter prospective cohort. The Cox proportional hazard regression models were used to determine prognostic values of the clinical factors. A nomogram was also constructed integrating the clinical factors with clinical significance or independent prognostic values. Concordance index (C-index) was utilized to evaluate the prediction accuracy of the TNM stage and the nomogram.ResultsMultivariate analyses demonstrated that GLR [Hazard ratio (HR) = 1.029, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.004–1.056, P = 0.023] and mGPS (score of 1: HR = 1.404, 95% CI = 1.143–1.726, P = 0.001; score of 2: HR = 1.515, 95% CI = 1.159–1.980, P = 0.002) were independent prognostic factors for patients with NSCLC. The C-indexes of the TNM stage and the nomogram were 0.642 (95% CI = 0.620–0.663) and 0.694 (95% CI = 0.671–0.717), respectively.ConclusionGLR and mGPS were independent prognostic factors for patients with NSCLC. Moreover, our constructed nomogram might be superior in predicting prognosis of patients with NSCLC compared with the TNM stage.

A systematic review and meta-analysis were performed to estimate the incidence of possible complications following EUS-guided pancreas biopsy. Pancreatic cancer has a very poor prognosis with a high fatality rate. Early diagnosis is important to improve the prognosis of pancreatic cancer. We searched Pubmed, Embase, Web of Science, and Scopus databases for studies published from inception to Augest, 2018. Meta-analysis were conducted with random-effect models and heterogeneity was calculated with the Q, I2 and τ2 statistics. We enrolled 78 studies from 71 articles in the meta-analysis, comprising 11,652 patients. Pooled data showed that the whole complication incidences were low 0.210 × 10−4(95%CI -0.648 × 10−4, 1.068 × 10−4). And they were in bleeding 0.002 × 10−4 (95%CI -0.092 × 10−4, 0.097 × 10−4), pancreatitis 0.002 (95%CI -0.082 × 10−4, 0.086 × 10−4), abdominal pain 0 (95%CI -0.037 × 10−4, 0.038 × 10−4), fever 0 (95%CI -0.032 × 10−4, 0. 032 × 10−4), infection 0 (95%CI -0.030 × 10−4, 0.031 × 10−4), duodenal perforation 0 (95%CI -0.033 × 10−4, 0.034 × 10−4), pancreatic fistula 0 (95%CI -0.029 × 10−4, 0.029 × 10−4), abscess 0 (95%CI -0.029 × 10−4, 0.029 × 10−4) and sepsis 0 (95%CI -0.029 × 10−4, 0.030 × 10−4). Subgroup analysis based on the tumor size, site, needle type and tumor style also showed robust results. The pooled data showed EUS-guided pancreas biopsy could be a safe approach for the diagnosis of pancreatic lesions. More large-scale studies will be necessary to confirm the findings across different population.

BACKGROUND 'High-quality layer' is the focus and hotspot of shale gas exploration and development. Many explorations and important developments have been studied by researchers at home and abroad. However, the threshold of selection parameters, qualitative-quantitative system classification evaluation and template establishment need to be optimized. OBJECTIVES To identify the 'high-quality layer' and optimize areas of marine shale gas with the commercial value in the Lower Paleozoic area of southern China. METHODS The Ordovician Wufeng Formation-Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation and Cambrian Niutitang Formation were the research objects. The identification factors of shale gas enrichment and high-yield 'high quality layer', and the shale gas area with commercial exploration value in the Lower Paleozoic marine facies in southern China were analyzed. RESULTS Three qualitative parameters including sedimentary facies, tectonic preservation, lithologic combination, and eight quantitative parameters including gas content, pressure coefficient, organic carbon content, organic matter maturity, porosity, brittleness, effective thickness, buried depth were optimized. A discriminating principle of qualitative parameters to delineate favorable areas, and quantitative parameters to identify the 'high-quality layer' was proposed. On the basis of this, the parameter acquisition methods and thresholds were analyzed. A 'high-quality layer' quantitative identification template for marine shale gas of the Wufeng-Longmaxi Formation and the Niutitang Formation was established in southern China. This method was applied to the Zheng'an-Wuchuan area of Guizhou Province. Seven favorable shale gas areas and one 'high-quality layer' of shale gas (the Wufeng-Longmaxi Formation of Anchang syncline) were identified, which successfully verified by later drilling. CONCLUSIONS The proposed method has certain reference significance for the identification of 'high-quality layer' of marine shale gas in southern China.

Background: Colon adenocarcinoma (COAD) is still the main cause of cancer deaths worldwide. Although immunotherapy has made progress in recent years, there is still a need to improve diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment tools. UL-16 binding protein 1 (ULBP1) is a ligand that activates the receptor natural killer cell group 2 receptor D (NKG2D) and plays an important immunomodulatory role. We aimed to investigate the clinical significance of ULBP1 in COAD.Methods: We obtained the relevant data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). A total of 438 patients with COAD were included in this study, with a mean age of 67.1 ± 13.03 years old, of which 234 (53.42%) were male. The diagnostic value of COAD tumor tissues and adjacent tissues was analyzed by ROC curve. Univariate and multivariate survival analysis investigated the prognostic value of ULBP1 gene, and Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) curve was performed to analyze the biological process and enriched enrichment pathway of ULBP1 in COAD. Combination survival analysis investigated the combined prognostic effect of prognostic genes.Results:ULBP1 gene had a high diagnostic value in COAD [AUC (TCGA) = 0.959; AUC (Guangxi) = 0.898]. Up-regulated ULBP1 gene of patients with COAD predicted a worse prognosis compared to those patients with down-regulated ULBP1 gene (Adjusted HR = 1.544, 95% CI = 1.020–2.337, p = 0.040). The GSEA showed that ULBP1 was involved in the apoptotic pathway and biological process of T cell mediated cytotoxicity, regulation of natural killer cell activation, and T cell mediated immunity of COAD. The combination survival analysis showed that the combination of high expression of ULBP1, AARS1, and DDIT3 would increase the 2.2-fold death risk of COAD when compared with those of low expression genes.Conclusion: The immune-related ULBP1 gene had diagnostic and prognostic value in COAD. The combination of ULBP1, AARS1, and DDIT3 genes could improve the prognostic prediction performance in COAD.

Dielectric multilayer stack metasurface is coupled with a gold mirror forming a hybrid metamaterial that targeting at multiband absorption. The resonant mechanisms responsible for each absorption band are explained in this study. Furthermore, a potential fabrication process has been proposed and demonstrated. This absorber exhibits flexibility in design and feasibility in fabrication, which makes it an excellent candidate for various applications, particularly in the field of sensing.

A numerical simulation on the heat transport augmentation and flow drag behavior of spirally corrugated pipes was performed. The simulation was conducted on the basis of the experimental results documented in the published literature. The influence of the thread height and pitch on the hydraulic–thermal performance as well as the mechanism of the convection heat transport development inside the spirally corrugated pipe were explored. It was discovered that the convection heat transport performance elevates in the Reynolds number region of 4000~13,000 as the thread height rises or the Reynolds number enlarges, but it declines when the thread pitch extends. The convection heat transport performance marked by the Nusselt number of the spirally corrugated pipe could reach 2.77 times that of the plain pipe, while the flow resistance coefficients of spirally corrugated pipes are 89~324% above that of the plain pipe. It enlarges with the rise in thread height but declines with the extension of the thread pitch. It also reduces when the Reynolds number enlarges. The factors of overall heat transmission performance for all the spirally corrugated pipes are above 1.00, and they increase in the Reynolds number region of 4000~7000 and then decrease in the Reynolds number region of 7000 to 13,000. The secondary flow at the cross-sections and the vortex between two adjacent corrugated grooves are the basic causes of the promotion of convection heat transport inside the spirally corrugated pipes. The secondary flow near the pipe wall both disrupts the border layer and boosts the radial interfusion of the fluid. In addition, the existence of vortexes makes the secondary flow act on the convection heat transmission continuously and positively in the region close to the pipe wall.

Piezoelectric wearable electronics, which can sense external pressure, have attracted widespread attention. However, the enhancement of electromechanical coupling performance remains a great challenge. Here, a new solid solution of Ba1−xSrxSn0.09Ti0.91O3 (x = 0.00~0.08) is prepared to explore potential high-performance, lead-free piezoelectric ceramics. The coexistence of the rhombohedral phase, orthorhombic phase and tetragonal phase is determined in a ceramic with x = 0.06, showing enhanced electrical performance with a piezoelectric coefficient of d33~650 pC/N. Furthermore, Ba0.94Sr0.06Sn0.09Ti0.91O3 (BSST) is co-blended with PDMS to prepare flexible piezoelectric nanogenerators (PENGs) and their performance is explored. The effects of inorganic particle concentration and distribution on the piezoelectric output of the composite are systematically analyzed by experimental tests and computational simulations. As a result, the optimal VOC and ISC of the PENG (40 wt%) can reach 3.05 V and 44.5 nA, respectively, at 138.89 kPa, and the optimal sensitivity of the device is up to 21.09 mV/kPa. Due to the flexibility of the device, the prepared PENG can be attached to the surface of human skin as a sensor to monitor vital movements of the neck, fingers, elbows, spine, knees and feet of people, thus warning of dangerous behavior or incorrect posture and providing support for sports rehabilitation.
