Abstract

Potato is the third most important staple food crop. To address challenges associated with global food security, a hybrid potato breeding system, aimed at converting potato from a tuber-propagated tetraploid crop into a seed-propagated diploid crop through crossing inbred lines, is under development. However, given that most diploid potatoes are self-incompatible, this represents a major obstacle which needs to be addressed in order to develop inbred lines. Here, we report on a self-compatible diploid potato, RH89-039-16 (RH), which can efficiently induce a mating transition from self-incompatibility to self-compatibility, when crossed to self-incompatible lines. We identify the S-locusinhibitor (Sli) gene in RH, capable of interacting with multiple allelic variants of the pistil-specific S-ribonucleases (S-RNases). Further, Sli gene functions like a general S-RNase inhibitor, to impart SC to RH and other self-incompatible potatoes. Discovery of Sli now offers a path forward for the diploid hybrid breeding program.

Abstract

The problem of session-aware recommendation aims to predict users' next click based on their current session and historical sessions. Existing session-aware recommendation methods have defects in capturing complex item transition relationships. Other than that, most of them fail to explicitly distinguish the effects of different historical sessions on the current session. To this end, we propose a novel method, named Personalized Graph Neural Networks with Attention Mechanism (A-PGNN) for brevity. A-PGNN mainly consists of two components: one is Personalized Graph Neural Network (PGNN), which is used to extract the personalized structural information in each user behavior graph, compared with the traditional Graph Neural Network (GNN) model, which considers the role of the user when the node embeddding is updated. The other is Dot-Product Attention mechanism, which draws on the Transformer net to explicitly model the effect of historical sessions on the current session. Extensive experiments conducted on two real-world data sets show that A-PGNN evidently outperforms the state-of-the-art personalized session-aware recommendation methods., Comment: 12 pages

225. Black and gray solitons in holographic superfluids at zero temperature

Abstract

We construct gray soliton configurations, which move at constant speeds, in holographic superfluids for the first time. Since there should be no dissipation for a moving soliton to exist, we use the simplest holographic superfluid model at zero temperature, considering both the standard and alternative quantizations. For comparison purpose, we first investigate black solitons in the zero temperature holographic superfluids, which are static configurations. Then we focus on the numerical construction of gray solitons under both quantizations, which interpolate between the (static) black solitons and sound waves (moving at the speed of sound). Interestingly, under the standard quantization, a peculiar oscillation of the soliton configurations is observed, very much resembling the Friedel oscillation in fermionic superfluids at the BCS regime. Abstract

With the development of petrochemical industry, the deep exploitation of domestic petroleum and the continuous increase of oil input from the Middle East, the sulfur content in raw materials is gradually increased. The corrosion of hydrogen sulfide on welded joints can lead to the failure of the whole component, bringing great threat to production safety. Researchers at home and abroad have paid great attention to the stress corrosion of high-strength low-alloy(HSLA) steel welded joints caused by hydrogen sulfide. In this paper, the mechanism of stress corrosion cracking of HSLA steel welded joints in service in a wet hydrogen sulfide environment was briefly described, and the factors that influencing stress corrosion of welded joints were discussed. Furthermore, different experimental methods for exploring stress corrosion were summarized and the stress corrosion was compared with that of carbon steel.
