Abstract

Let $T:E\rightarrow F$ be a non-necessarily continuous triple homomorphism from a (complex) JB$^*$-triple (respectively, a (real) J$^*$B-triple) to a normed Jordan triple. The following statements hold: (1) $T$ has closed range whenever $T$ is continuous (2) $T$ has closed range whenever $T$ is continuous This result generalises classical theorems of I. Kaplansky and S.B. Cleveland in the setting of C$^*$-algebras and of A. Bensebah and J.P\'erez, L. Rico and A. Rodr'\iguez Palacios in the setting of JB$^*$-algebras.

Abstract

The Long-read RNA-Seq Genome Annotation Assessment Project Consortium was formed to evaluate the effectiveness of long-read approaches for transcriptome analysis. Using different protocols and sequencing platforms, the consortium generated over 427 million long-read sequences from complementary DNA and direct RNA datasets, encompassing human, mouse and manatee species. Developers utilized these data to address challenges in transcript isoform detection, quantification and de novo transcript detection. The study revealed that libraries with longer, more accurate sequences produce more accurate transcripts than those with increased read depth, whereas greater read depth improved quantification accuracy. In well-annotated genomes, tools based on reference sequences demonstrated the best performance. Incorporating additional orthogonal data and replicate samples is advised when aiming to detect rare and novel transcripts or using reference-free approaches. This collaborative study offers a benchmark for current practices and provides direction for future method development in transcriptome analysis.

IntroductionE-cigarettes and heated tobacco products (HTPs) may serve as potential options for harm reduction for smokers if they possess reward profiles similar to cigarettes. Little is known about the abuse liability of HTPs and e-cigarettes versus cigarettes in racial/ethnic minority smokers.Aims and methodsTwenty-two nicotine-deprived people who smoke (black [n = 12] and white [n = 10]) completed three visits that included a standardized 10-puff bout followed by a 50-minute ad libitum use assessment with their usual brand cigarette (UBC), an e-cigarette, and HTP. Abstract

High-entropy random numbers are an essential part of cryptography, and Quantum Random Number Generators (QRNG) are an emergent technology that can provide high-quality keys for cryptographic algorithms but unfortunately are currently difficult to access. Existing Entropy-as-a-Service solutions require users to trust the central authority distributing the key material, which is not desirable in a high-privacy environment. In this paper, we present a novel key transmission protocol that allows users to obtain cryptographic material generated by a QRNG in such a way that the server is unable to identify which user is receiving each key. This is achieved with the inclusion of Zero Knowledge Succinct Non-interactive Arguments of Knowledge (zk-SNARK), a cryptographic primitive that allow users to prove knowledge of some value without needing to reveal it. The security analysis of the protocol proves that it satisfies the properties of Anonymity, Unforgeability and Confidentiality, as defined in this document. We also provide an implementation of the protocol demonstrating its functionality and performance, using NFC as the transmission channel for the QRNG key., Comment: 36 pages, 6 figures. Abstract

We study the structure of certain modules $V$ over linear spaces $W$ with restrictions neither on the dimensions nor on the base field $\mathbb F$. A basis $\mathfrak B = \{v_i\}_{i\in I}$ of $V$ is called multiplicative respect to the basis $\mathfrak B' = \{w_j\}_{j \in J}$ of $W$ if for any $i \in I, j \in J$ we have either $v_iw_j = 0$ or $0 \neq v_iw_j \in \mathbb Fv_k$ for some $k \in I$. We show that if $V$ admits a multiplicative basis then it decomposes as the direct sum $V=\bigoplus_k V_k$ of well-described submodules admitting each one a multiplicative basis. Also the minimality of $V$ is characterized in terms of the multiplicative basis and it is shown that the above direct sum is by means of the family of its minimal submodules, admitting each one a multiplicative basis.
