201. Development of a Global Multilayered Cloud Retrieval System

Abstract

A more rigorous multilayered cloud retrieval system has been developed to improve the determination of high cloud properties in multilayered clouds. The MCRS attempts a more realistic interpretation of the radiance field than earlier methods because it explicitly resolves the radiative transfer that would produce the observed radiances. A two-layer cloud model was used to simulate multilayered cloud radiative characteristics. Despite the use of a simplified two-layer cloud reflectance parameterization, the MCRS clearly produced a more accurate retrieval of ice water path than simple differencing techniques used in the past. More satellite data and ground observation have to be used to test the MCRS. The MCRS methods are quite appropriate for interpreting the radiances when the high cloud has a relatively large optical depth (tau(sub I) greater than 2). For thinner ice clouds, a more accurate retrieval might be possible using infrared methods. Selection of an ice cloud retrieval and a variety of other issues must be explored before a complete global application of this technique can be implemented. Nevertheless, the initial results look promising.

However, controversies still exist about the postoperative prophylactic radiation target volume. This study was designed to analyze the patterns of recurrence and to provide a reference for determination of the postoperative radiotherapy target volume for patients with midthoracic ESCC.Patients and methods: A total of 338 patients with recurrent or metastatic midthoracic ESCC after radical surgery were retrospectively examined. The patterns of recurrence including locoregional and distant metastasis were analyzed for these patients.Results: The rates of lymph node (LN) metastasis were 28.4% supraclavicular, 77.2% upper mediastinal, 32.0% middle mediastinal, 50.0% lower mediastinal, and 19.5% abdominal LNs. In subgroup analyses, the rate of abdominal LN metastasis was significantly higher in patients with histological node-positive than that in patients with histological node-negative (P=0.033). Further analysis in patients with histological node-positive demonstrated that patients with three or more positive nodes are more prone to abdominal LN metastasis, compared with patients with one or two positive nodes (χ2=4.367, P=0.037). The length of tumor and histological differentiation were also the high-risk factors for abdominal LN metastasis.Conclusion: For midthoracic ESCC with histological node-negative, or one or two positive nodes, the supraclavicular and stations 2, 4, 5, and 7 LNs should be delineated as clinical target volume of postoperative prophylactic irradiation, and upper abdominal LNs should be excluded. While for midthoracic ESCC with three or more positive nodes, upper abdominal LNs should also be included. The length of tumor and histological differentiation should be considered comprehensively to design the clinical target volume for radiotherapy. However, there is no consensus regarding delineation of the nodal clinical target volume (CTVn), especially for lower cervical lymph nodes. This study aimed to map the location of metastatic supraclavicular lymph nodes in thoracic esophageal carcinoma patients with supraclavicular node involvement and generate an atlas to delineate the CTVn for elective nodal radiation of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Patients and methods: In this study, the supraclavicular regional lymph node was further divided into four subgroups. The locations of the involved supraclavicular nodes for all patients were then transferred onto a template computed tomography (CT) image. A volume probability map was then generated with nodal volumes, and was displayed on the template CT to provide a visual impression of nodal frequencies and anatomic distribution. Results: We identified 154 supraclavicular nodal metastases based on CT image in 96 patients. Of these, 29.2% were located in group I region, 59.7% in group II region, 10.4% in group III region, and 0.7% in group IV region. Conclusion: On the basis of our study, we suggest that the appropriate radiation field of CTVn should include the group I and II regions and the CTVn exterior margin along the lateral side of the internal jugular vein may be suitable. Abstract

The 2.5 MeV TOFED (Time-Of-Flight Enhanced Diagnostics) neutron spectrometer with a double-ring structure has been installed at Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) to perform advanced neutron emission spectroscopy diagnosis of deuterium plasmas. This work describes the response function of the TOFED spectrometer, which is evaluated for the fully assembled instrument in its final layout. Results from Monte Carlo simulations and dedicated experiments with pulsed light sources are presented and used to determine properties of light transport from the scintillator. A GEANT4 model of the TOFED spectrometer was developed to calculate the instrument response matrix. The simulated TOFED response function was successfully benchmarked against measurements of the time-of-flight spectra for quasi-monoenergetic neutrons in the energy range of 1-4 MeV. The results are discussed in relation to the capability of TOFED to perform beam ion studies on EAST.

Abstract

Motivation: The BioTIME database contains raw data on species identities and abundances in ecological assemblages through time. These data enable users to calculate temporal trends in biodiversity within and amongst assemblages using a broad range of metrics. BioTIME is being developed as a community-led open-source database of biodiversity time series. Our goal is to accelerate and facilitate quantitative analysis of temporal patterns of biodiversity in the Anthropocene. Main types of variables included: The database contains 8,777,413 species abundance records, from assemblages consistently sampled for a minimum of 2 years, which need not necessarily be consecutive. In addition, the database contains metadata relating to sampling methodology and contextual information about each record. Spatial location and grain: BioTIME is a global database of 547,161 unique sampling locations spanning the marine, freshwater and terrestrial realms. Grain size varies across datasets from 0.0000000158 km(2) (158 cm(2)) to 100 km(2) (1,000,000,000,000 cm(2)). Time period and grainBio: TIME records span from 1874 to 2016. The minimal temporal grain across all datasets in BioTIME is a year. Major taxa and level of measurement: BioTIME includes data from 44,440 species across the plant and animal kingdoms, ranging from plants, plankton and terrestrial invertebrates to small and large vertebrates.

222. Comparison of infliximab and ustekinumab for the treatment of moderate-to-severe psoriasis: an indirect comparison meta-analysis

Of these, five were excluded because they had inappropriate intervention (n = 1), inappropriate patient population (n = 3), or a small sample size (n = 1). Ultimately, six studies were included in the networks. Log odds ratio (OR) of achieving PASI 75 or PASI 90 was used as the treatment effect in fixed- and random-effects mixed treatment comparison meta-analysis.Results: Based on the results of the random-effects model, when compared to infliximab 5 mg/kg, the OR of ustekinumab 90 mg and ustekinumab 45 mg achieving a PASI 75 following 12 weeks of treatment was 0.57 CrI (0.19, 1.29) and 0.44 (0.15, 0.99), respectively. Similarly, the odds of achieving PASI 90 was 0.77 (0.09, 2.70) for ustekinumab 90 mg and 0.63 (0.07, 2.20) for ustekinumab 45 mg. Infliximab 5 mg/kg had the highest probability of being the most effective of all treatments considered, in attaining a PASI 75 (92%) and PASI 90 response (76%). Ustekinumab 90 mg had the highest probability of being ranked second in attaining a PASI 75 (84%) and PASI 90 response (62%). Results from the random- and fixed-effects models were consistent.Conclusion: A greater proportion of patients with plaque psoriasis are expected to achieve a PASI 75 or PASI 90 response when treated with infliximab 5 mg/kg than with ustekinumab 90 mg or 45 mg.Keywords: TNF inhibitor, Interleukin 12/23 inhibitor, biologic therapy, comparative effectiveness, randomized clinical trial, PASI score

Abstract

Diode pumped solid state lasers will play a prominent role in future remote sensing missions because of their intrinsic high efficiency and low mass. Applications including altimetry, cloud and aerosol measurement, wind velocity measurement by both coherent and incoherent methods, and species measurements, with appropriate frequency converters, all will benefit from a diode pumped primary laser. To date the "gold standard" diode pumped Nd laser has been the laser of choice for most of these concepts. This paper discusses an alternate 1 micron laser, the YB:YAG laser, and its potential relevance for lidar applications. Conceptual design analysis and, to the extent possible at the time of the conference, preliminary experimental data on the performance of a bread board YB:YAG oscillator will be presented. The paper centers on application of YB:YAG for altimetry, but extension to other applications will be discussed.

224. Anisotropic, lightweight, strong, and super thermally insulating nanowood with naturally aligned nanocellulose

Abstract

There has been a growing interest in thermal management materials due to the prevailing energy challenges and unfulfilled needs for thermal insulation applications. We demonstrate the exceptional thermal management capabilities of a large-scale, hierarchal alignment of cellulose nanofibrils directly fabricated fromwood, hereafter referred to as nanowood. Nanowood exhibits anisotropic thermal properties with an extremely low thermal conductivity of 0.03W/m·K in the transverse direction (perpendicular to the nanofibrils) and approximately two times higher thermal conductivity of 0.06W/m·K in the axial direction due to the hierarchically aligned nanofibrilswithin the highly porous backbone. The anisotropy of the thermal conductivity enables efficient thermal dissipation along the axial direction, thereby preventing local overheating on the illuminated side while yielding improved thermal insulation along the backside that cannot be obtained with isotropic thermal insulators. The nanowood also shows a low emissivity of <5% over the solar spectrum with the ability to effectively reflect solar thermal energy. Moreover, the nanowood is lightweight yet strong, owing to the effective bonding between the aligned cellulose nanofibrils with a high compressive strength of 13 MPa in the axial direction and 20MPa in the transverse direction at 75% strain, which exceeds other thermal insulation materials, such as silica and polymer aerogels, Styrofoam, and wool. 227. Antiproliferative activities of the second- generation antipsychotic drug sertindole against breast cancers with a potential application for treatment of breast-to-brain metastases

Abstract

Epidemiological observations have shown that schizophrenia patients after long-term drug treatment exhibited reduced tumor incidences. The potential anticancer effects of antipsychotic drugs are subsequently demonstrated. These drugs are of great interest as agents against untreatable brain metastases because of their ability to traverse the blood-brain barrier (BBB). Most drugs tested thus far are the first-generation antipsychotics (FGAs). But their clinical application may be limited due to high risks of deaths in elderly patients. There is an urgent need to find additional BBB-traversing anticancer agents with lower risks of deaths. In this work, we investigated antitumor activities of eight second-generation-antipsychotic (SGA) drugs, since they exhibit lower mortality rates than FGAs. We discovered that sertindole showed broad antiproliferative activities against seven cancer types including 29 cell-lines and exhibited potent effects toward breast cancer cell-lines, with half maximal concentration to inhibit proliferation by 50% (IC50) as low as 800 nM. We further found that sertindole caused cell death through autophagy-associated apoptosis and its directly-binding inhibition of 5-HT6 involved in this process. In xenotransplant mice, sertindole administration approaching maximal therapeutic dose attenuated breast-tumor growth by 22.7%. Therefore, our study reveals promising anticancer potentials of sertindole against breast cancers, with probable applications for breast-to-brain metastases.

Abstract

The neutron field measurement was performed in the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) experimental hall using a Bonner sphere spectrometer (BSS) based on a 3He thermal neutron counter. The measured spectra and the corresponding integrated neutron fluence and dose values deduced from the spectra at two exposed positions were compared to the calculated results obtained by a general Monte Carlo code MCNP5, and good agreements were found. The applicability of a homemade dose survey meter installed at EAST was also verified with the comparison of the ambient dose equivalent H*(10) values measured by the meter and BSS.

Abstract

Motivation: The BioTIME database contains raw data on species identities and abundances in ecological assemblages through time. These data enable users to calculate temporal trends in biodiversity within and amongst assemblages using a broad range of metrics. BioTIME is being developed as a community‐led open‐source database of biodiversity time series. Our goal is to accelerate and facilitate quantitative analysis of temporal patterns of biodiversity in the Anthropocene. Main types of variables included: The database contains 8,777,413 species abundance records, from assemblages consistently sampled for a minimum of 2 years, which need not necessarily be consecutive. In addition, the database contains metadata relating to sampling methodology and contextual information about each record. Spatial location and grain: BioTIME is a global database of 547,161 unique sampling locations spanning the marine, freshwater and terrestrial realms. Grain size varies across datasets from 0.0000000158 km² (158 cm²) to 100 km² (1,000,000,000,000 cm²). Time period and grain: BioTIME records span from 1874 to 2016. The minimal temporal grain across all datasets in BioTIME is a year. Major taxa and level of measurement: BioTIME includes data from 44,440 species across the plant and animal kingdoms, ranging from plants, plankton and terrestrial invertebrates to small and large vertebrates. Abstract

Glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK-3) plays a critical role in cognitive dysfunction associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD), yet the mechanism by which GSK-3 alters cognitive processes in other disorders, such as schizophrenia, remains unknown. In the present study, we demonstrated a role for GSK-3 in the direct regulation of neuronal oscillations in hippocampus (HIP) and prelimbic cortex (PL). A comparison of the GSK-3 inhibitors SB 216763 and lithium demonstrated disparate effects of the drugs on spatial memory and neural oscillatory activity in HIP and PL. SB 216763 administration improved spatial memory whereas lithium treatment had no effect. Analysis of neuronal local field potentials in anesthetized animals revealed that whereas both repeated SB 216763 (2.5 mg/kg) and lithium (100 mg/kg) induced a theta frequency spike in HIP at approximately 10 Hz, only SB 216763 treatment induced an overall increase in theta power (4-12 Hz) compared to vehicle. Acute administration of either drug suppressed slow (32-59 Hz) and fast (61-100 Hz) gamma power. In PL, both drugs induced an increase in theta power. Repeated SB 216763 increased HIP-PL coherence across all frequencies except delta, whereas lithium selectively suppressed delta coherence. These findings demonstrate that GSK-3 plays a direct role in the regulation of theta oscillations in regions critically involved in cognition, and highlight a potential mechanism by which GSK-3 may contribute to cognitive decline in disorders of cognitive dysfunction.

232. The clinical warning index of severe COVID-19: discussion based on the clinical features and outcomes of 4 patients.

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is spreading worldwide. The onset of severe COVID-19 could lead to multiple organ damage and even death. It is worth paying attention to the warning index of the onset for severe COVID-19 so that patients can be identified and monitored carefully. PATIENTS AND METHODS: The report is a retrospective study that describes and analyzes the clinical features during the treatment of COVID-19. Four patients with COVID-19 were involved in this study, who were father-and-son pairs from two families. All patients were treated with the same combination of anti-microbial and anti-viral agents for 10-14 days, adjusting for the disease status. The primary outcome measure was SARS-CoV-2 detection using RT-qPCR with oropharyngeal swabs. Chest CT imaging served as a secondary outcome measure. RESULTS: One of the four patients progressed to severe disease, while the remaining patients recovered with the same treatment. A persistent decrease in the lymphocyte ratio and increase in the C-reactive protein (CRP) level were observed in the severe patient, along with other typical symptoms of COVID-19. CONCLUSIONS: The cases we described indicate that blood cell and CRP tests could be useful risk warnings of severe onset of COVID-19. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

234. Anesthetic effect and safety of sevoflurane combined with propofol in removing tracheobronchial foreign bodies in children.

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To systematically evaluate the anesthetic effect and safety of sevoflurane combined with propofol in removing tracheal foreign bodies in children. MATERIALS AND METHODS: PubMed, EMbase, The Cochrane Library, China Biomedicine Database, China National Knowledge Internet, WanFang Data, and VIP databases were searched. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of sevoflurane combined with propofol for anesthesia during tracheal foreign body extraction in children were collected. The retrieval time was from the establishment of the database to April 10, 2019. RevMan 5.3 software was used for meta-analysis after two researchers independently screened the literature, extracted data, and evaluated the risk bias included in the study. RESULTS: Seven RCTs involving 473 patients were included. Meta-analysis showed that the time of loss of consciousness significantly reduced (MD=-38.27, 95% CI (-41.77, -34.77), p < 0.00001) and the recovery time significantly reduced (MD=-12.29, 95% CI (-2.77, -1.80), p < 0.00001) in the sevoflurane combined with propofol group compared with the control group. In terms of safety, the heart rate was slower [MD=-11.00, 95% CI (-21.64, -0.36), p=0.04 < 0.05] and the incidence of cough and breath holding was lower [MD=0.38, 95% CI (0.19, 0.78), p=0.008] in the sevoflurane combined with propofol group than in the control group. However, no significant difference in respiratory rate and SPO 2 < 90% was found between the two groups (p > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Sevoflurane combined with propofol is worth popularizing because of its high anesthetic effect and safety in the removal of tracheal foreign bodies in children. However, given the limited quantity and quality of the included studies, the above conclusions need to be verified by high-quality studies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to discuss the unique clinical features of patients with 2019-nCoV in Zhengzhou City to provide references for clinical diagnosis and treatment. Their epidemiology, clinical symptoms, laboratory examinations, and chest CT images were reviewed. All 17 patients were aged between 12-83 years, with an average age of 47 years, and consisted of 10 males (58.8%) and 7 females (41.2%). Two patients had histories of living or traveling in Wuhan, and 9 patients were attacked locally. The 6 remaining patients were unknown about incidence reasons. RESULTS: The average incubation period was 10 days, and the average time of the course of the disease was 9 days. Among the participants, 12 patients had fever as the first symptoms and 5 patients had normal body temperature. One patient was symptom-free carrier, and one patient had serious symptoms. One patient developed from mild symptoms to severe symptoms, and 14 patients had mild symptoms. Moreover, 7 patients had complications of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and hypertension, 1 patient was in the advanced stage of squamous cell lung carcinoma, and 1 patient had diabetes mellitus, renal failure, and late-stage uremia. According to novel coronavirus nucleic acid test, 8 patients were positive, accounting for 47.1%. All patients were negative in the novel coronavirus IgM antibody test and negative in other common respiratory pathogen detection. All 17 patients had ground glass-like high-density shadow or stripped high-density shadow on lung CT images, accompanied with many affected lesions on two lungs. The average stay in hospital was 10 days, and the average time of the course of the disease was 9 days. After hospitalization, 15 patients were discharged from the hospital upon recovery, 1 patient was transferred to superior hospital for continuous treatment, and 1 patient died. Patients with 2019-nCoV in Zhengzhou People’s Hospital were mainly attacked in local areas, and most of them had mild symptoms. The positive rate of the nucleic acid test was 47.1%. CONCLUSIONS: The main clinical characteristics are increased neutrophil granulocytes, increased C-reactive proteins, decreased lymphocytes, ground glass-like or stripped lesions on lung CT image, common complications of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and favorable prognosis. Abstract

OBJECTIVE: Among the illnesses that may develop from COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), is pneumonia, a severe acute respiratory infectious disease. SARS-CoV-2 continues to spread worldwide and has caused hundreds of thousands of deaths thus far and has disrupted the world economy. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This review summarized the reported distributions of SARSCoV-2 in 13 biological samples of the human body, including nose, feces, sperm, tears, breast milk, cerebrospinal fluid, urine, organs, sputum, cell lines, bronchial brush, blood, throat, and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid. Moreover, this review briefly describes the detection of SARSCoV-2 in human body samples of five other coronaviruses. CONCLUSIONS: This review offers several recommendations for controlling the spread of SARS-CoV-2 control, specifically, sample collection from suspected cases from foreign countries and risk assessment of imported special goods (biological materials). Abstract

Accumulated crystallization characteristics of amorphous Ge2Sb2Te5 (a-GST) films induced by multi-pulsed laser irradiations with different fluences were investigated by x-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy and spectrophotometer. Solid-state transformation was performed at low fluence (LF, 30.5 mJ cm−2), whereas melting-cooling transformation dominated at medium and high fluence (MF, 45.7 and HF, 61 mJ cm−2). Solid-state transformation induced by subsequent LF pulses promoted the growth and coalescence of grains, linearly increasing the average grain size, accordingly causing blue-shifts of the Raman spectral peaks. For MF/HF pulse irradiated films, the relatively high laser fluence increased the melting depth and reduced the volume fraction of the crystalline state induced by individual pulses, thereby increasing the threshold of laser pulse numbers for XRD detectable crystallization. However, the remelting depth induced by subsequent MF/HF laser pulse progressively decreased. The remelting-recrystallization process refined grain sizes, which improved the red-shifts of Raman spectral peaks. Moreover, optical contrast increased dramatically compared to single laser irradiation and five-level storage could be realized for a linear increase of optical contrast. Abstract

Herein, a simple green co-precipitation route for Mn4+-activated fluorides has been realized via individually using the aqueous acidic salt NH4HF2 as a solvent. The systematic explorations of ionization, erosion, solvent concentration, solvency on reactants, and reaction with an extra weak acid disclosed that the near-saturated aqueous NH4HF2, ionizing into abundant HF2−, H+, and F− ions, exhibited large dissolving capacity and good stabilization on Mn4+ without obvious toxicity. The green synthesized example of Cs2GeF6:Mn4+ emitted a typical narrow band red light at 633 nm with normal optimal doping at ∼8 at%. Compared with its contrast prepared from the HF system, it experienced only ∼10% reduction in quantum efficiency and slight emission attenuation below 150 °C as the more humidity-sensitive weaker acid surface aroused lattice thermal vibration. The further action as red component fabricated a high-quality warm white light-emitting diode (W-LED) with a high color rendering index (Ra ∼ 91), high luminous efficacy (∼149 lm W−1), low correlated color temperature (∼3211 K), and good color stability against the operating environment. Combined with the universal synthesis of A2XF6:Mn4+ (A = K, Rb, Cs; X = Si, Ge), our findings can probably open up a simple and feasible green synthetic strategy for efficient Mn4+-doped fluorides using acidic salts. Abstract

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to clarify the role of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) HOXA-AS2 in influencing the proliferative, migratory and apoptotic abilities of human aortic vascular smooth muscle cells (HAVSMCs) by absorbing microRNA-877-3p (miRNA-877-3p). MATERIALS AND METHODS: HOXA-AS2 level in HA-VSMCs treated with different doses of oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) and for different time points was determined by quantitative Real Time-Polymerase Chain Reaction (qRT-PCR). After transfection of si-HOXAAS2 in HA-VSMCs undergoing ox-LDL treatment, the viability, apoptotic rate and migration of cells were detected, respectively. Meanwhile, the subcellular distribution of HOXA-AS2 was analyzed. The Dual-Luciferase reporter gene assay was applied to verify the binding relationship between HOXA-AS2 and miRNA-877-3p. MiRNA-877-3p level in HA-VSMCs treated with different doses of ox-LDL was determined as well. Furthermore, the regulatory effects of HOXA-AS2/miRNA-877-3p axis on cellular behaviors of HA-VSMCs were determined. RESULTS: HOXA-AS2 expression was upregulated by ox-LDL treatment in a time- and dose-dependent manner. After being treated with 100 mg/L ox-LDL for 48 h, the proliferative and migratory abilities of HA-VSMCs were significantly enhanced, while apoptosis was inhibited. Conversely, these changes were reversed by transfection of si-HOXA-AS2. HOXA-AS2 was mainly distributed in the nuclear fraction. DuDual-Luciferase reporter gene assay confirmed the direct binding relationship between HOXAAS2 and miRNA-877-3p. Moreover, miRNA-877-3p was markedly downregulated after transfection of si-HOXA-AS2. MiRNA-877-3p expression decreased gradually with an increased dose of ox-LDL. In addition, knockdown of miRNA-877-3p could reverse the regulatory effects of HOXAAS2 on proliferative, migratory and apoptotic abilities of HA-VSMCs. CONCLUSIONS: HOXA-AS2 is upregulated after HA-VSMCs injury, which accelerates the proliferative and migratory abilities, and inhibits the apoptosis of vascular smooth muscle cells by absorbing miRNA-877-3p. Abstract

We detected presence of 23 types of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in 21 mixed samples obtained along the banks of Dawen River in China by gas chromatography. we analyzed the spatial distribution of OC residues, potential source, and the ecological and health risks. The results show that OCPs were detected in all the 21 sampling sites, and 86.6% of the 23 types of OCPs had a detection rate above 90%. Furthermore, the analysis of the single-factor pollution index shows that 14% of the sampling sites were mildly polluted, whereas 4.8% had medium-level pollution. Analysis of the Nemerow's multi-factor index shows that 9.5% of the sampling sites were mildly polluted. We found that Dawenkou Town and Wenyang Town are severely polluted, whereas Ciyao Town and Jiangji Town are less polluted by arcgis12.0 spatial analysis. Compared to other regions in China, the HCHs content is at a low level but DDTs at a high level in the study area. Assessment of health risks of OCP residues shows that the carcinogenic risk and the non-carcinogenic risk caused by exposure to OCPs is negligible. Abstract

A new gamma ray spectrometer with high energy and time resolutions has been developed and installed on the EAST tokamak to study fast ion and runaway electron behaviors. The spectrometer is based on a LaBr3(Ce) scintillator detector and a fully digital data acquisition system that is based on a digitizer with digital pulse processing algorithms. The energy resolution of the spectrometer is about 3.9% at 662 keV, and the spectrometer can operate stably at a counting rate as high as 1 MHz, monitored by using a light emitting diode monitoring system. The measured gamma ray spectrum is simulated based on Geant4 and unfolded with the high-resolution boosted Gold deconvolution algorithm, aiming at reconstructing the energy distribution functions of fast ions and runaway electrons.
