En este trabajo se analiza la funcionalidad del diseño ecológico o ecodiseño de productos sostenibles, así como la evolución de la normativa aplicable en este campo. En particular, es objeto de estudio y valoración la nueva regulación propuesta por la Comisión Europea, observando aquellas innovaciones más destacadas. En la actualidad, esta es una cuestión que adquiere gran interés técnico, jurídico y económico, ya que vía Reglamento UE se plantea un avanzado y complejo régimen común, donde este instrumento ambiental se erige como principal medida de acción para el logro de los objetivos estratégicos pretendidos. La regulación proyectada podría tener importantes efectos en distintos ámbitos y sectores claves, razón por la que conviene examinar las novedades que han sido previstas y sus posibles implicaciones en la práctica. De igual modo, hay que tener en cuenta los motivos por los que se impulsa esta renovación normativa desde el Derecho de la UE, en estos momentos y en interés público o colectivo. Considerando todos estos aspectos, se aporta una valoración acerca del régimen proyectado, cuyo impacto podría ser muy relevante. Asimismo, se exponen las oportunidades que se abren en virtud de esta ambiciosa regulación y el plan de actuaciones ya encaminado, toda vez que el ecodiseño se convertiría en práctica obligada; esto es, en un requerimiento exigido o exigible y para la mayoría de los productos distribuidos en la UE.

The purpose of this study is to compare IVC Celect and ALN filters in regard to their efficacy, retrievability, and one-year follow-up after retrieval. Materials and Methods: This is a prospective randomized study, conducted in three centers between April 2020 and May 2021. A total of 115 participants were randomized, of which 15 participants were excluded for various reasons. Each group of 50 participants was finally assigned a type of filter (Celect n = 50 and ALN = 50). Tilt angles at placement and retrieval, rates of overall filter retrieval, complications, complex retrieval, and clinical follow-up at 12 months were compared. Results: One hundred participants (59 men and 41 women) were included. The mean age was 62.4 ± 13.3, with no significant differences between both groups (p 0.503). The mean of dwelling time was 44.7 ± 93 days. (p 0.520) Filter retrieval was successful in all participants (100%). The main complication in CT prior to removal was tilt >15° (31%) and filter tip embedment (16%). No significant differences were observed in the type of retrieval (standard or complex) between both filters (p 0.24); however, fluoroscopy time was significantly longer in the complex removal of the Celect filter: 29.1 ± 12 min vs. 17.5 ± 10.3 (p 0.005). After one year, no recurrent pulmonary embolism was observed in both types of filters. Conclusions: The ALN filter had a significantly lower rate of tip and filter tip embedding, with no differences in complexity or removal success rate. There were significant differences in the fluoroscopy time consumed for standard and complex retrievals between both filters, with less time for the ALN filter.

iTRAQ labeling with two 8-plex iTRAQ kits was performed in the Proteomic facility of the Institute of Biomedicine of Seville using their standard protocols. Individual liver samples were isolated in urea lysis buffer (8 M urea, 25 mM Tris, 100 mM NaCl, 25 mM NaF, 10 mM Na4P2O7, 50 mM β-glycerophospate, 1 mM Na3VO4, 1:100 protease inhibitors and 1:100 deacetylase inhibitors, pH 8). Samples were sonicated for 10 seconds and centrifuged at 20000 x g for 15 min at 4 ºC. The supernatant was harvested and stored at -80º C. Then, samples were reduced with 50 mM tris-(2-carboxyethyl)phosphine (AB Sciex) at 60 °C for 1 hour with shaking and were subsequently alkylated using 200 mM S-methyl methanethiosulfonate (AB Sciex) for 30 min at room temperature. Samples were then trypsinized at 37 °C in a 10:1 ratio (w/w) of substrate/enzyme in a water bath overnight (Promega). Then, samples were speed-vac dried. The iTRAQ-labeling assay was conducted according to the manufacturer’s instructions (iTRAQ 8-plex, AB Sciex). Briefly, peptides were reconstituted in 1M triethylammonium bicarbonate (Sigma-Aldrich St. Louis, MO, USA), 0.05% SDS, 1:100 phosphatase inhibitor cocktail, 1:100 protease inhibitor cocktail, and 0.002% benzonase (Novagen, Argentina) and labeled with one isobaric amine-reactive tag. After 2 hoursof incubation, labeled samples were pooled, dried at 45 °C, and stored overnight at 4 °C. iTRAQ-labeled samples were desalted using Oasis HLB C18 cartridges (Waters, Milford, MA, USA) and dried using a vacuum centrifuge. Peptides were then prefractionated using MCX Oasis columns (Waters) and increasing concentrations (50-2000 mM) of ammonium formate. Fractions were collected, individually washed using C18 cartridges and dried. Peptides from each fraction were separated using nano-liquid chromatography (nano LC 1000, Thermo Scientific) and analyzed by means of nano-electrospray ionization (Proxeon Biosystems, Odense, Denmark) connected to a Q Exactive Plus Orbitrap mass spectrometer (Thermo Scientific). Briefly, 13 µL of each fraction was loaded, preconcentrated, and washed in an Acclaim PepMap (75 µm × 2 cm, nanoViper, C18, 3 µm, 100 Å) precolumn (Thermo Scientific). Peptides were separated in an analytical column (75 µm × 15 cm, nanoViper, C18, 2 µm, 100 Å, Acclaim PepMap RSLC) for 240 min at 200 nL/min (Thermo Scientific). Peptides were eluted with a gradient of buffer A (0.1% formic acid, 100% H2O) to buffer B (0.1% formic acid, 100% acetonitrile).Files contain data from the different fractions for iTRAQ experiments used for protein detection in RAW format.

The split liver technique enables transplanting 2 recipients with one single graft (typically an adult-child pair). It facilitates small recipients' access to liver transplantation and reduces mortality on the waiting list. However, splitting is technically demanding and may increase peri- and postoperative complications. To be able to obtain comparable outcomes to a full graft liver transplantation, careful donor-recipients selection, experienced surgeons, and logistic planning are paramount. The video shows an in situ split liver procedure from a 32-year-old brain stem death donor to generate a left lateral sector for a child and a right extended graft for an adult recipient.

Despite the extensive vaccination campaigns in many countries, COVID-19 is still a major worldwide health problem because of its associated morbidity and mortality. Therefore, finding efficient treatments as fast as possible is a pressing need. Drug repurposing constitutes a convenient alternative when the need for new drugs in an unexpected medical scenario is urgent, as is the case with COVID-19. Using data from a central registry of electronic health records (the Andalusian Population Health Database, BPS), the effect of prior consumption of drugs for other indications previous to the hospitalization with respect to patient survival was studied on a retrospective cohort of 15,968 individuals, comprising all COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Andalusia between January and November 2020. Covariate-adjusted hazard ratios and analysis of lymphocyte progression curves support a significant association between consumption of 21 different drugs and better patient survival. This work reports the first record of Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd) infection in the endangered La Banderita marsupial frog Gastrotheca gracilis from the Southern Yungas Andean forest. We analysed swab samples from the oral discs of 20 tadpoles and histological sections from two post-metamorphic individuals. We found 60 % of the tadpoles to be infected, and the histological sections revealed the presence of zoosporangia of Bd in different maturation stages. The signs of infection confirm the presence of Bd, which may pose a threat to the endangered La Banderita marsupial frog populations. In the last decade, several omics studies have provided significant insights into the molecular mechanisms of these diseases. Nevertheless, data from different cohorts and pathologies are stored independently in public repositories and a unified resource is imperative to assist researchers in this field. Results: Here, we present Autoimmune Diseases Explorer (https:// adex. genyo. es), a database that integrates 82 curated transcriptomics and methylation studies covering 5609 samples for some of the most common autoimmune diseases. The database provides, in an easy-to-use environment, advanced data analysis and statistical methods for exploring omics datasets, including meta-analysis, differential expression or pathway analysis. Conclusions: This is the first omics database focused on autoimmune diseases.
