Background: Early identification of high-risk patients with COVID19-using non-laboratory data at the time of admission may help the effective use of limited healthcare resources and improve clinical decision-making which reduces cost and time, and consequently the death of patients. Objectives: This study aims to provide an intelligent approach to triaging COVID19-patients by analyzing effective risk factors and predicting the risk of death due to COVID19-using an ensemble learning method. Methods: : This is a descriptive-applied study that was conducted in 2021. Non-laboratory data were used during the admission of 4558 confirmed patients with COVID19-referred to the Shohaday-e-Khalij-e-Fars Hospital in Bushehr registered in the medical care information system. After data preprocessing, the risk factors affecting the death were identified and ranked in importance. The ensemble learning (voting) method was used to develop the death prediction model, and the confusion matrix criteria evaluated its performance. Results: From a total of 5433 patient records, the data of 4558 cases were included in the study, of which %45.5) 2222) were women and %64.5) 2663) were men. The average age of the patients was 47.6. Out of all the investigated factors, 17 characteristics were identified as effective in predicting the death of patients, and their ranking indicated that the first six factors for predicting the death of patients are state of blood oxygen, age, state of consciousness, fever, cough, and body pain, respectively. The proposed model estimated the risk of death with an accuracy of %85, sensitivity of %85, specificity of %0.85, and AUROC of 0.91. Conclusions: The results of the study provide a low-cost, fast, and innovative solution for the early identification of patients with COVID19-at risk of death to triage them more effectively, which can be used by the managers of healthcare systems to manage resources by continuously updating new data and providing appropriate treatments for high-risk patients. Introduction: Tamoxifen is steroidal drug, which mainly treats breast cancer and also used to stimulate ovulation. The purpose of the present study was the evaluation of sperm parameters and fertility of mice whose mothers had received tamoxifen during pregnancy. Methods: In this study, 30 female and 15 male mice of NMRI were selected for mating. After mating female mice were randomly divided into two groups, the first group (control) and second group (experimental). All of which contained 15 mice. Objective: The current study evaluated the effectiveness of endoscopic transcanal facial nerve decompression in patients with post-traumatic facial nerve paralysis. Methods: This retrospective study included 10 patients with post-traumatic complete facial nerve paralysis who underwent endoscopic transcanal facial nerve decompression. The surgical technique was explained step by step, and the surgical complications, hearing status and facial nerve function 12 months post-operatively were reported. Results: Endoscopic transcanal facial nerve decompression allowed exposure of the geniculate ganglion to the mastoid segment. The facial nerve function improved from House–Brackmann grade VI to grades I and II in 8 of 10 (80 per cent) patients, and 2 patients experienced partial recovery (House–Brackmann grades III and IV). No severe complication was reported. Conclusion: Endoscopic transcanal facial nerve decompression, involving the nerve from the geniculate ganglion to the mastoid segment, is a safe and effective approach in patients with post-traumatic facial nerve paralysis. Recently, weeks after the COVID-19 prevalence, there were reports of brain involvement and neurologic presentations in the COVID-19. We present five cases of COVID-19 and cerebrovascular events. A 34-year-old woman with IVH and ischemic stroke. A 60-year-old man with multiple small hemorrhagic foci and mild IVH in the occipital horn. A 63-year-old woman with large left parietooccipital intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and IVH. A 56-year-old man with left hemispheric and midbrain ICH, lateral ventricular IVH, and hydrocephalus. A 85-year-old woman with right parietal hemorrhagic infarct. The coagulation profile was normal in all of them. The chest CT scan showed the typical ground-glass appearance of COVID-19. Recently, there were reports of brain involvement and neurologic presentations in the COVID-19. These reports and the present study necessitate the aimed and designed studies with emphasis on neurologic presentations in COVID-19 patients to illustrate the exact effects of coronavirus-2 on the central nervous system. Summary: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a common metabolic disease characterized by high blood sugar levels. It is well known that men with diabetes frequently experience reproductive disorders and sexual dysfunction. In fact, sperm quality has a significant effect on fertilization success and embryo development. The current study aimed to investigate the effect of Stevia rebaudiana hydroalcoholic extract on serum testosterone levels, sperm parameters, in vitro fertilization (IVF) success, and in vitro embryonic developmental potential to reach the blastocyst stage in a streptozotocin (STZ)-induced mouse model of diabetes. In this research, 30 male mice were distributed randomly into control, diabetic (streptozotocin 150 mg/kg) and diabetic + Stevia (400 mg/kg) groups. The results revealed a decrease in body and testis weight and elevated blood fasting blood sugar (FBS) levels in the diabetic group, compared with the control. However, Stevia treatment significantly increased body and testis weight, while serum FBS levels were decreased compared with the diabetic group. In addition, Stevia significantly increased blood testosterone levels compared with the diabetic group. Moreover, sperm parameters were improved considerably by Stevia treatment compared with the diabetic group. Furthermore, Stevia administration significantly promoted IVF success rate and in vitro development of fertilized oocytes compared with the diabetic group. In summary, our data indicated that Stevia enhanced sperm parameters, IVF success, and in vitro embryonic developmental competency in diabetic mice, probably because of its antioxidant effects.
