The purpose of this document is to provide a technical description of the components of the recommended near-term DMA modern programming environment (MPE). This document includes descriptions of the DMA MPE tool bearing host (TBH) and software life cycle tool support environment for the near-term MPE configuration. The tools described are the one which best satisfied the requirements and constraints of the DMA environment at the time this document was produced. The implementation of this system should have the recommended tools or equivalent tools which satisfy the criteria and constraints of the DMA MPE. Only the FORTRAN and COBOL languages are addressed in this document., See also Volume 3, AD-A125 628.

This volume describes the development of the design and supporting documentation for an incremental and evolving integrated modern engineering software production environment for the Defense Mapping Agency. The objectives of this study were: To identify DMA needs for a Modern Programming Environment; To forumulate a total systems concept to satisfy the identified needs; To survey and evaluate software tool candidates for the Modern Programming Environment; and to specify a Modern Programming Environment and an implementation plan that satisfies DMA needs., See also Volume 2, AD-A125 627.

The objective of this three-phase effort is to Identify the hardware/software technology pertinent to the implementation of tightly-coupled embedded distributed systems for DoD applications, Establish an integrated approach regarding the total life-cycle software development period with correlation as to the applicability of existing/near-term software engineering methodology, techniques and tools to each life-cycle phase, and Define the functional design requirements pertinent to the far-term development of needed software engineering methodology, techniques and tools. A product of this effort is the recommended design of a system support environment encompassing the integrated implementation of candidate software engineering tools., See also Volume 3, AD-A137 688.

Tropieza el laboratorio de usted con algunas dificultades en Io tocante a obtener colorantes de buena calidad para microscopía, ahora que es muy difícil, si no imposible, obtener los productos alemanes? Si es así, confronta usted la misma situación que confrontaron los laboratorios de Estados Unidos durante la primera Guerra Mundial. En aquella fecha las industrias de color antes de Norteamérica apenas se encontraban en sus albores, y ni la industria textil se mostraba satisfecha con los tintes que obtenía, habiendo todavía más dudas acerca de si los productos norteamericanos resultaran satisfactorios para las necesidades mucho más delicadas de los Laboratorios de biología. Apenas el Ejército y Armada comenzaron a establecer los hospitales y laboratorios que exigía la guerra, el punto quedo determinado en una forma muy positiva: los colorantes estadounidenses no resultaban satisfactorios para el laboratorio. Es más, tan descontentos se mostraban los que tenían que emplearlos, que se determino que jamás surgiera en Estados Unidos una situación semejante. Apenas había terminado la guerra, ya se habían tomado medidas encaminadas a que los Estados Unidos contaran con sus propios repuestos de colorantes de fidedignidad reconocida para los empleos dedicados a que iban a destinarse en la microscopía.
