Introduction: The increase in the number of older adults with cancer generates high rates of dependency, leading to an exponential growth in the demand for informal caregivers, which implies having to address specific care needs that are the competence of nursing and can be addressed from the spiritual sphere as proposed by the Transpersonal Human Caring Theory. Objective: To determine the relationship between informal caregiver spirituality and resilience in the older adult with cancer. Materials and Methods: This is a quantitative, correlational, non-experimental study in which 42 older adults with cancer and their informal caregivers participated. The level of spirituality of the caregivers and the level of resilience of the older adults were measured. The correlation between the variables was calculated using Spearman's p test. Results: The mean age of the caregivers was 49.6 ± 15.6 years, 64.3% were female, 85.7% Catholic; 73.8% reported high levels of spirituality. Regarding the older adults, their mean age was 69.9 ± 7.1 years, 59.5% were female, 88.1% Catholic; the predominant type of cancer was gastric and leukemia; 83.3% reported high resilience. A positive correlation (r=0.440, p=<0.05) was found between caregiver spirituality and older adult resilience. Conclusions: The results provide scientific support for the Theory of Transpersonal Human Caring, as it acknowledges the conception of self and spirit (spiritual transcendence) described by Jean Watson. José Ignacio Cabrujas was a renowned Venezuelan playwright whose work was characterized by representing archetypal situations and characters. Throughout his career, Cabrujas experienced disillusionment with his religious and political beliefs, seeking to purify himself from them. His Catholic upbringing and subsequent conversion to communism generated tensions in his life. In the 1960s, Cabrujas experienced an intense ideological and political crisis that influenced his theatrical writing. Liberation Theology (Teología de la Liberación) is a theology that emerged within Catholic Christianity in Latin America in the 1960s. The founder of this theology, which is considered one of the most important and modern theologies of the 20th century, is Peruvian theologian Gustavo Gutiérrez. This article is about Gutiérrez's life, method, ideas and the impact of the theology based on these ideas on different beliefs and theologies, especially Christianity. Gutiérrez, whose biography is partially included in the article to form the basis of his theological thought, is a theologian who developed his thoughts through his experiences living with the poor. Our findings that Gutiérrez's experiences were effective in the emergence of Liberation Theology constitute the main subject of the article. Liberation Theology combined the local religious experiences of the Latin American poor with the Second Vatican Council's opening of Catholic theology to different cultures and beliefs. Thus, he revealed a new way to sustain and spread modern Christianity through local poverty experiences. With this, the theologies that emerged first from Catholic Christianity and then as a reaction to the poor, oppression and persecution environment especially in third world countries are discussed in terms of subject, method, etc. influenced by its aspects. Liberation Theology, which differs from the traditional line by being based on the experience of poverty and guiding the third world, as well as using concrete data of social sciences and controversial techniques such as Marxist analysis in theology, has almost blazed a trail in Christianity with this attitude, like Protestantism that emerged in the 16th century. Therefore, it is important to understand a theology of modern Christianity that has worldwide effects. In this article, Liberation Theology, which has made a name for itself with its extraordinary practices and has been the subject of many studies, especially in foreign sources, has been examined through Gutiérrez, who is the father of the idea, unlike existing research. In this regard, "What is Liberation Theology and its methodology?", "Who is Gustavo Gutiérrez?", "What is the place of Gustavo Gutiérrez in this theology?" and “What are the reasons that led Gustavo Gutiérrez to this theology?” Answers to these questions were sought. In this effort, Liberation Theology interprets the Exodus chapter of the Bible based on freedom by using Marxist left discourses instrumentally in theology, guides the liberation theologies that emerged later with its work titled Teología de la Liberación: Perspectivas, and creates a transition between societies with its discourses that can address the needs of modern people. It has been determined that it affects large masses by providing. As a result, it has been revealed that Gutiérrez's theological approach is a theology that supports the ideals of the Second Vatican Council and modern missiological studies of Christianity. Religion is the great absentee in the history of internationalism. Earlier studies have begun to highlight the critical role played by religious internationalism in the making of the modern world, but the relations between non-confessional internationalism and religious actors have, to date, been completely overlooked. This article explores the relationship between non-confessional internationalism and Catholicism, with the intention of enriching both the history of internationalism and that of Catholicism in the twentieth century. Specifically, it focuses on the relationship between a number of non-confessional internationalist actors – from the Paneuropean Union and other world and European federalist movements to war refugees – and Pope Pius XII, between 1944 and 1948. Based on the recently opened Vatican archives, the following pages address three fundamental issues: (1) What did the Pope represent in the internationalist imagination? (2) Why did non-confessional internationalists seek contact with him? (3) How did the Pope respond to the requests for support that he received? As a whole, the requests for support examined in this paper clearly show the centrality of Pius XII in the imagination – and strategies – of non-confessional internationalism in the 1940s, including popular internationalism. The presence of the conservatives in Mexico, and their main characters, is long-standing. In Mexican history, some of the conservative movements have been present in religious thinking, especially in Catholicism, e.g., the quick departure from socio-cultural and political Mexican spaces as a consequence of the evangelical Spanish process, whose roots come from the XVI century Of the population in contemporary Mexico (7.7% belong to Catholicism, 2.5% to Evangelical Christians and Protestants, and 2.5% to non-Christian groups, while 8.1% do not follow a religion. Catholicism has a significant presence and influence on different forms of belief and practice in daily life in Mexico. This paper aims to highlight the role of the conservative movement called Frente Nacional por la Familia. It presents its history as the heritage of other conservative movements in Mexico, the stages of its formation, and the agenda and intervention in public life. The methodological approach is qualitative, using multi-situated ethnography. The results allow us to visualize the construction of the public agenda with legislative strategies that have operated with relative success and national presence, obstructing the progress of the proposals of feminist groups and sexual diversity and the defense of a national and cultural project that has as one of the symbols the traditional family. The Reverend Joseph F. Berg was pastor of First German Reformed Church in Philadelphia from 1837 to 1852. He was a revivalist in the tradition of Charles G. Finney. In addition, he was an active participant in the Protestant crusade against the Roman Catholic Church. His anti-Catholic sermons and writings contributed to the emotional atmosphere that culminated in the Philadelphia Riots of 1844. The faculty of the German Reformed Church Seminary in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, was composed of Philip Schaff and John W. Nevin. Berg accused Schaff and Nevin of having "Romanizing Tendencies" in their writings, which resulted in heresy trials. He left the German Reformed Church to become a minister in the Dutch Reformed Church in Philadelphia. The Enciclopedia cattolica, whose 12 volumes were published between 1949 and 1954, constitutes probably the most ambitious publishing venture undertaken by Italian Catholicism in the aftermath of World War II. Directly financed by the Vatican, warmly encouraged by Pius XII himself and realized thanks to the collaboration of the Society of Jesus and the Sansoni publishing house, this work was intended to offer an up-to-date and thoroughly orthodox overview of modern knowledge, not only religious, but also profane, standing as a point of reference for post-war Italian culture, in open competition with Treccani's Enciclopedia italiana, and thus contributing to the re-Christianization of Italian society. Making use of largely unexplored documentation, this essay aims to reconstruct the editorial history of the Enciclopedia cattolica, the motives and objectives of the various actors involved, primarily the Jesuits of «La Civiltà Cattolica», and the dynamics, not infrequently conflicting, that marked its realization. The epidemic of the SARS-CoV-2 virus announced in Poland was connected with huge restrictions and limitations for individual citizens, society as a whole, and many industries. The restrictions also affected the faithful and members of religious communities, who were unable to directly participate in religious services due to the limits for participants. The situation also posed a challenge for Catholic priests, who had to take measures to reach the faithful with religious services in cases of limitations placed on direct contact. The paper analyses the communication activities undertaken by priests of the Diocese of Rzeszow, implemented as a consequence of the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Though fin de siècle decadence has seldom been recognized as a formative influence on John Fante's writing, the attitude toward modernity that Fante expresses in Ask the Dust is illegible without recourse to the decadent tradition. Tracing the novel's ideas about ethnicity, religion, and sexuality back to the fin de siècle , and reading Joris-Karl Huysmans's 1891 decadent novel Là-bas as its key intertext, we can see that Ask the Dust refashions decadence into an ambivalent survival strategy for transmuting alienation and suffering into a sense of personal consolation or power. Arturo Bandini, the novel's protagonist, poses as various decadent types, such as the dandy-flâneur, the diabolical apostate, and the impotent aesthete, as a means of transmuting the suffering he has endured as an ethnic other. At the same time, Fante himself employs decadence to critique the mutually implicative violences (ethnic, religious, sexual) that underlie judgments about social decay in the Depression-era United States. In the twentieth century, many Catholic authorities prioritized the suppression of scandal over the punishment of criminal priests, and the church now faces an even greater scandal as the extent of this coverup becomes known. While the specific situation may be new, the church's aversion to scandal is not. This article connects the contemporary situation to the struggles faced by the Counter-Reformation Church regarding scandal. Applying sociological and anthropological theories of scandal, it argues that an institution whose authority is threatened (like the church in both eras) will almost inevitably become scandal averse. Building on the work of Dyan Elliott using theology and legal history, it argues that in Reformation Europe, the church had a particular need to suppress scandal, using methods Elliott demonstrates had been developed over centuries. Finally, using social historical methods it examines the disciplinary strategies of Gregorio Barbarigo, bishop of Padua from 1664 to 1697, chosen because of his unusually lengthy tenure, devotion to reform, extraordinarily detailed records, and sainthood. By examining over a thousand investigations undertaken by Barbarigo, analyzing his responses to a wide range of abuses, and presenting four case studies of repeat offenders, the article demonstrates both the rationale for and the weaknesses of the Catholic Church's preferred disciplinary strategy. From a historical perspective, this demonstrates that scandal and its management was yet another obstacle to early modern Catholic Reform. This article draws attention to a trend in International Relations (IR) discourse that analyzes aspects of Catholicism through an English School lens. It argues that IR analyzes of aspects of Catholicism should or could be more productively theorized through a two-fold English School framework: (a) religious ideas, customs, and practices underpinning international society; and (b) the preference of the Catholic Church in pluralism versus solidarism English School debates. This framework can, arguably, be used as a tool for future IR investigation of aspects of Catholicism to better understand the influence of Catholic actors in international society. In the face of war, not only state actors, but also religious actors react and engage in international politics. When studying religious narratives of war, what is not said can be more revealing than what is said. Such is the case when analyzing the Roman Catholic Church's narrative since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. A striking pattern of silence emerges which arguably has serious implications for upholding international law. Both in an international political (Holy See at the United Nations) as well as a transnational religious context (Pope Francis I addressing followers) the Roman Catholic Church has remained silent on Russia's aggression and breach of international law. This paper is a qualitative analysis of the life experiences of three female believers who were punished for their "sins" and eventually left the Church. It reveals how religious power manifests itself through the condemnation of "sins" such as "demonic possession," "premarital sex," and "adultery," as well as the various kinds of resistance strategies among these "apostates." I argue that fundamentalist Church doctrines are an essential part of the process of Sinicisation of Christianity, embedded as they are in the disciplinary structures of personal life in China, especially mother-daughter relationships, intimate partnerships, and acquaintance societies, which intensify constraints on individuals. Debates within ecclesiology on the nature and possibility of ecclesial sin have regained interest in the midst of rising awareness of the church's historical wrongs. Most theologies and metaphors of a sinful church, however, fail to consider the theological identity of the "sinned against" within the church. This article reads Andrew Sung Park's theology of han (a Korean concept denoting a complex sense of woundedness) as the underside of sin against Karl Rahner's theology of a church of sinners to point toward a vision of ecclesial han that attends to the woundedness within the church and its healing. The Resolved Through Sharing (RTS) Perinatal bereavement model is an approach used for working with birthing people and their families who have experienced a perinatal loss. RTS is designed to help families cope with their grief and integrate the loss in their lives, meet the needs of the families during the initial crisis, and offer comprehensive care to each member of the family affected by the loss. This paper utilizes a case illustration to describe a year-long bereavement follow-up of an undocumented underinsured Latina woman who suffered a stillbirth during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and the hostile anti-immigrant policy during the Trump presidency. The case illustration is based on a composite case of several Latina women who had pregnancy losses with similar outcomes, demonstrating how a perinatal palliative care (PPC) social worker provided ongoing bereavement support to a patient who experienced a stillbirth. The case illustrates how the PPC social worker utilized the RTS model, incorporated the patient's cultural values, and acknowledged systemic challenges which resulted in the patient receiving comprehensive, holistic support that aided her emotional and spiritual recovery from her stillbirth. The author ends with a call to action for providers in the field of perinatal palliative care to incorporate practices that allow for greater access and equity for all birthing people. This paper analyses the Solidarity movement narratives, focusing on church representatives, religious issues, and symbols in the Polish history textbooks for upper secondary schools between 1991 and 2018. The analysed textbooks prove to reinforce Poland's national and religious identities, with John Paul II and the priest Popiełuszko being the primary national heroes of the Solidarity movement. The Catholic Church is presented as a protector of national values during the Solidarity period. The study also reveals the gradual reduction and simplification of the textbooks' content. This tendency is a trigger for the polarisation of the historical discourse, posing a weapon for secular policies to misuse the ideological and symbolic roles of the Church in reproducing the Pole-Catholic pattern in history textbooks. The present article discusses female students' perception of the female role models introduced to them during religious education classes in Poland. Besides imparting knowledge, the teaching of religious classes in schools, a part of religious education, aims at shaping attitudes. Therefore, presenting young people with role models who can inspire them and be a reference point concerning their behaviour should be a vital component of religious education. The current research shows, however, that this is a neglected area. This article is based on a research study comprising focus group interviews. The participants were adult students in the final grades of secondary school who had completed the entire cycle of religious education at school. The article is structured as follows. The first section discusses the relationship between the role models presented to students during religious education classes and the shaping of their identity vis-a-vis the morphogenetic approach of M. Archer. The second section focuses on the female personal role models mentioned in the core curriculum and religious education textbooks. The Jesuit missionary Matteo Ricci's teaching on the goodness of human nature in The True Meaning of the Lord of Heaven represents the fruit of the first encounter between Catholicism and Confucianism. This article will consider the Thomistic and neo‐Confucian sources in Ricci's enunciation of the Catholic doctrine on the goodness of human nature in this Chinese catechism. It will illustrate that Ricci developed his teaching, which is fundamentally Thomistic, with the help of terminology borrowed from the Chinese philosophical tradition. His distinction between the good of nature and the good of virtue leads to prioritising the cultivation of human nature. Ricci's teaching reflects the early modern Jesuits' appreciation of human freedom. This article considers in detail the choosing of a language for the liturgy and sermons in Roman Catholic parishes in Belarus. The choice of the Belarusian language is part of a deliberate nation-building policy by the Catholic Church. Moreover, a whole network of local peculiarities, historical stereotypes, and political attitudes is concealed beneath the unified cover of a preference for the use of the Belarusian language. Based on interviews with clergy and religious activists, the article shows that the Roman Catholic Church repeatedly works out compromise solutions that allow it to adapt to the pressures of the state and believers going through a process of contradictory and conflicting nation-building. The Internet has become a platform for popularizing traditional religious teachings and rituals, bringing together believers worldwide, and creating a network of religious communities. With the help of the Internet, religious groups and communities can keep in touch with each other, exchange ideas and sermons, and attract new followers. The article is devoted to analysis of the impact of digital technologies on Orthodoxy in Ukraine, particularly on the example of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. The analysis of this problem is based on considering the general trends of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine's attitude to the implementation of digital technologies, as well as the analysis of individual projects related to the use of digital solutions. The central thesis of the research is that Ukrainian Orthodoxy, in the current challenging conditions, which are caused in particular by the war, strives to find a balance between the tradition, which was formed over many centuries, and innovations, which are generated by the Internet and digital culture and which make it possible to provide communication with the faithful and their support effectively, as well as to realize their mission. The authors present the main discussion about implementing digital technologies and online services into the Church's practice. The great popularity and extraordinary possibilities the Internet offers people in the field of information and communication, have made the Internet the subject of the Church's in-depth reflection as an important tool in broadly understood pastoral activities. This article contains a discussion of the effects of this observation and demonstrates how the Church uses the Internet and all Information and Communications Technology. Finally, we will indicate the positive aspects and difficulties facing the Church now operating in the Digital Age. Research clearly shows that the modern Church must use the Internet if it wants to meet people, be close to them and reach them with information. The Church must so consciously and skillfully - taking into account anthropological conditions and the nature of media, including theological premises. An important conclusion emerging from the research is a decisive "no!" concerning various forms of e-Church. The Church's opening up to ICT does not mean consent to transferring its activities onto the Internet. Ecclesiastical relationships are always interpersonal relationships: human-human and Divine-human. The Church - even a synodal one - is a community of persons, not an online discussion group or followers of the Pope, bishop, other pastor or influencer identifying with the Church. This article focuses on the life and legacy of Reverend Charles Nerinckx (1761-1824), Belgian missionary and priest-founder of the Sisters of Loretto at the Foot of the Cross, on the 200th anniversary of his death. As a fugitive from Napoleonic religious suppression in his native Belgium, where he had been forced into hiding, Nerinckx developed a strong sense of Christian conscience in regard to human suffering. Among his notable contributions, he envisioned a new type of religious community in borderland Kentucky soon after his arrival there in 1805, one that allowed multiple forms of belonging, including an interracial group of oblates and a Black sisterhood. Buried in the Stanford University Archives is an undated anonymous pamphlet entitled "The Legend of Pancho Sanchez," which offers a Catholic critique of the Bracero Program. This article puts "Legend" and its vision of the program in conversation with the church's late 1950s/early-1960s position on agriculture and its longstanding advocacy for family-based, owner-operated farms as the centerpiece of morally healthy agricultural production. I contend that the church's deep commitment to small farms as key to a healthy society shaped its hesitancy to rethink this priority, despite shifting migration patterns and increased prevalence of migrant farmworkers, domestic and non-. "Legend" suggests that official church priority could not see how the structural underpinnings of industrial agriculture affected in interrelated ways domestic farmworkers and Mexican braceros alike, exacerbating the precarity of all farmworkers. In Ethiopia, the period from the late 16th and 17th Centuries has caused a controversy because some consider this period as Ethiopia's recovery from religious, civil conflicts as well as sectarian discord, while others including Kofi Darkwah (1975), define it as a continued descent prosses for the empire. In line with this disagreement, factual information can speak for itself in the course of this study. Emperor Susenyos (1572-1632 CE) was a strong supporter of Catholicism, yet his son, Fasilidas (1603-1667 CE) as his successor, reinstated Ethiopian miaphysite Orthodoxy. The establishment of Gondar as the permanent capital in 1636, is an event heralded by Henze (2000) as the onset of an Ethiopian Renaissance, particularly in artistic, architectural, and musical domains. After Fasilidas's demise, his son, Yohannes I reigned from 1632-67 CE. Yet, it was Fasilidas's grandson, Iyasu I the Great (r. 1682-1706 CE), who distinguished himself through extensive architectural projects, notably transforming Gondar into a captivating city. Iyasu I's assassination caused significant turmoil in Gondar, subsequently resulting in a gradual loss of political power. When Iyasu I's son, Bakaffa (r. 1721-1730 CE) ascended to the imperial throne, the arts - namely, chant (zema), poetry (qene), interpretation (tergum) and refinement of the court minstrels' music had already been supported and vigorously promoted. However, it was Bakaffa's wife and later widow, Mentewab (1706-1773 CE), who emerged as the pivotal figure in this Ethiopian "Renaissance". Additionally, the diverse styles of Ethiopian iconography sponsored by Mentewab, some adorned with elements reminiscent of the decorative style of the Rococo period, illustrate the queen's remarkable aesthetic standards. The research on Mentewab, also known as Welete Giyorgis, has been guided by portrayals in iconographies, chronicles, paintings, testimonials from church builders and castles, and indirectly by information provided in texts such as Kebre Negast, and Fetha Nagast. To this end, special attention has been drawn on Mentewab's legacy as the founder, protector, and patron of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Narga Selassie, renowned for its resplendent Qwara style that fused European, Islamic, and Indian elements while retaining strong Ethiopian traits. With special attention to the iconographic representations of Queen Mentewab as the ktetor of Narga Selassie Church, the study explores symbolic significances embedded within relevant creations and artistic styles. The five Solas of the Reformation, Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide, Sola Gratia, Solus Christus and Soli Deo Gloria, harmoniously or correspondingly affirm the central position of God in the work of salvation (missio Dei). The conceptualization of the missio Dei, which grew out of the 1952 International Missionary Council (IMC) reasoned on the basis of Solae doctrines, equally points to the central role of God in the work of salvation. Although the centrality of God in the work of salvation is consistently reflected through the Solae doctrine, and thus through understanding of the missio Dei, such consistency is seldom associated with the placement of the Reformed pulpit. To this end, this article draws on the available literature to show the doctrinal consistency reflected in the Solae teachings and the conceptualization of the missio Dei in relation to the placement and outlook of the Reformed pulpit. Consequently, this paper concludes that the Reformed tradition, encompassing the Solae doctrines, the conceptualization of the missio Dei, and its attitude toward the pulpit, harmoniously reflects the central role of God in the work of salvation. Within the Reformed knowledge space, this article thus makes a contribution as it discusses the placement of the Reformed pulpit in accordance with the Solae doctrines and the missio Dei, expressing the centrality of God in the work of salvation. The Pentecostal mission has always been labeled a mission for the number of people who believe in God. The Church Center is the main target, and social-cultural involvement is left alone. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the stages of involvement and social theology of Pentecostalism so that findings can become study material for driving social missions today. This research aims to explore the theological stages and social involvement of Pentecostalism. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative one, with data collection methods using a historical approach. The research results show that Pentecostalism at its initial formation in Azusa Street 1906, still needed to be sensitive to theology and social involvement. However, entering the 21st century, Pentecostals began to expand their mission concept to social involvement issues. The main reason for this involvement was and remains the reality of poverty in Pentecostal congregation members, which needs to be improved. This article is unique because it discusses the stages of Pentecostal involvement and social theology, which can be the basis for constructing a more relevant Pentecostalism in Indonesia. The current developments in New Prophetic Churches (NPCs) raise the necessity for theological research. There are some practices within these formations, similar to African spiritualities. Spirituality is defined and some reflections on African spiritualities highlighted. This article identifies the NPCs and African spiritualities and how the two converge towards spiritual formation for Christians in these churches. Literature review and social media are used to research and conclude the research question, which is the resurgence of African spiritualities in faith formation of this faith community. Justification for this resurgence is based on both theological and etymological analyses of features, especially occultism and deliverance. Research finding is that many believers abandon Christian faith or opt to be opponents of the Gospel when promised prophecies are not fulfilled. Hence a conclusion is arrived at as an appeal for the return to Christian apologetics and vivacious socio-cultural contextual studies in the church. Robust dialogue with NPC leaders is long overdue, as at the end the local pastors are the ones engaged with damage control after the prophet has passed. Minimum standards should be suggested to minimize emotional damage in individuals and communities of faith, and discipleship into Christian faith needs to be heightened. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The mission of the Triune God--the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit--is the focus of this paper since the missio Dei perspective is essential to every section. To bring people from all tribes, nations, kingdoms, and languages together in eternal worship of Him, the Father sent the Son, and the Son sent the Holy Spirit. Churches and communities must partake in the mission of God in the world because the gospel of Jesus Christ must be preached. God uses the church as his instrument to proclaim his kingdom to people from all walks of life. Thus, followers of Jesus Christ who engage in the missio Dei--bring love, hope, and peace to a broken and lost world--and should be true to God's calling. God chose people to establish his kingdom and bestows blessings upon them so that they may bless every nation on the earth. God's humanity and God's entire creation are ultimately reconciled and healed by the kingdom. Through Jesus Christ, people can receive the Good News of God through the work of the Holy Spirit. The Catholic Church embarked upon an ambitious project of property development in the nineteenth century that transformed the Irish built environment and landscape. People responded energetically to fundraising drives for churches, convents, monasteries and welfare-focused institutions. The acquisition of significant property and substantial capital by the Irish Catholic Church was a major source of its power, which continued into independent Ireland. Much of this wealth came to the Catholic Church through bequests, donations, and returns on investment, which were managed by the relevant dioceses and orders. This article focuses on the episcopacy of Archbishop William Walsh of Dublin during the 1880s and 1890s to understand the way in which the management of the archdiocese of Dublin's financial resources shaped the social, economic, and political development of Ireland's capital city. By focusing on the management of one of the most significant bequests under Walsh's supervision – the Egan Bequest – a complex story of religion, investment and infrastructure building is revealed. The article offers a contextualized introduction to one of the most interesting and understudied Spanish American responses to mid-nineteenth-century anticlericalism: Manuel Ramírez Aparicio's Los conventos suprimidos en México (1861–62), a unique assessment of the Reforma's aftermath and a pioneering historiographical effort eluding any facile categorization. Penned by a moderate Liberal who did not endorse the obliteration of the Catholic legacy, it inaugurated the conventual history genre in Mexico, the first of many textual and visual efforts to preserve the receding religious memory in print. The article highlights the first-person autopsy regime that determined the work's methodology, uncovers the assumptions that underlay Ramírez Aparicio's conception of inevitable historical change, and showcases how the notion of national material patrimony, paired with the idea of a Christianized Reforma, aimed at guaranteeing the permanence of all that was noble, admirable, and beneficial in conventual life while reconciling it with the Liberal Party's main tenets. This essay has explored the vital but mostly neglected story of the church in British Burma, looked at the complex intersection of religion, ethnicity, and colonialism, and presented fundamental factors for ethnic and religious divide between diverse nationalities. Normative texts need to be authoritative to be effective in communicating norms and rules. Recent scholarship has shown a renewed interest in the authoritative status of the texts within early medieval works of canon law and the ways in which authority is reflected in the practice of attribution, promulgation, or organization. A small canonical collection known as the Collectio 91 capitulorum appears to flout the received knowledge. The current article presents this modest collection.
