Abstract

A software development process for its practice should be guided by guides, models, methodologies and/or frameworks that guarantee the implementation of a high-quality product. It is the software engineering that ground, defines and establishes the bases to carry out a viable implementation according to the needs of the clients. The use of good engineering practices must be in accordance with the context and application domain that the software product to be developed suggests. There are traditional and agile methodologies that define both procedures and guidelines for the development of software domains, such as: software systems, scientific and engineering, embedded, artificial intelligence, and web-based. However, for software development on the video game application domain, these procedures and / or guidelines do not focus on the basic functionalities that represent their mechanics, but focus on functional requirements. With the purpose of effectively contributing to an adequate correspondence between what is specified and represented, with a structured and organized implementation of video games, the present work aims to develop an engineering framework for the video game development process. The framework consists of five stages: conceptualization, design, implementation, testing and maintenance. In addition, it is composed of twenty activities, which generate nine products of engineering work as fundamental outputs from the use of various techniques and tools. The validity of the framework was verified with the application of the Iadov method, from which high satisfaction and positive criteria are obtained from its use.

Abstract

We present an analysis of the influence of an external magnetic field on renormalons in a self-interacting theory λϕ4. For weak magnetic field region, using an appropriate expansion for the Schwinger propagators, we find renormalons as poles on the real axis of the Borel plane, of which the position do not depend on the magnetic field, but where the residues acquire in fact a magnetic dependence. In the strong magnetic limit, working in the lowest Landau level approximation, these new poles are no longer present. We compare the magnetic scenario with previous results in the literature concerning thermal effects on renormalons in this theory.

Abstract

This paper offers a new perspective on decision-making and presents a process that can lead to sustainable ethical decisions. An operational definition is proposed for sustainable ethical decisions that are technically solvent, ethically responsible, and shared by the stakeholders involved. After an analysis of scholarly literature – from the Business Ethics as well as the management science perspective – in order to understand this process, serious limitations are found when decision-making is circumscribed only within the realm of an individual, which therefore indicates a need to transpose these ethical decisions to another level of analysis: the group. From there, accepting Adorno’s critique of the violence that any human group can commit against itself, Habermas’ communicative proposal is presented as the basis upon which the decision-making process can be structured. This paper presents two methods that are based on complexity science and operationalise a previous theoretical discussion on processes that lead to sustainable ethical decisions.

RESUMEN El objetivo de este trabajo fue adaptarse interculturalmente y examinar las propiedades psicométricas de la Performance Perfectionism Scale for Sport (PPS-S) para uso en la población brasileña. Este instrumento fue basado en el modelo teórico de Hewitt y Flett y desarrollado por Hill, Appleton y Mallinson para medir el perfeccionismo en un contexto específico del desempeño deportivo. La validación del instrumento siguió las directrices para adaptaciones transculturales de instrumentos de medidas en ciencias de la salud. Después de la adaptación cultural de la escala original en inglés, el instrumento fue aplicado en 953 atletas (15-16 años). El modelo original de la escala fue probado, con análisis factorial confirmatorio, utilizando el software LISREL (versión 9.30). 219. Treatment of Patients With Early-Stage Colorectal Cancer: ASCO Resource-Stratified Guideline

Abstract

PURPOSE To provide resource-stratified, evidence-based recommendations on the treatment and follow-up of patients with early-stage colorectal cancer. METHODS ASCO convened a multidisciplinary, multinational Expert Panel that reviewed existing guidelines and conducted a modified ADAPTE process and a formal consensus process with additional experts for one round of formal ratings. RESULTS Existing sets of guidelines from 12 guideline developers were identified and reviewed; adapted recommendations from six guidelines form the evidence base and provide evidence to inform the formal consensus process, which resulted in agreement of 75% or more on all recommendations. RECOMMENDATIONS For nonmaximal settings, the recommended treatments for colon cancer stages non-obstructing, I-IIA: in basic and limited, open resection; in enhanced, adequately trained surgeons and laparoscopic or minimally invasive surgery, unless contraindicated. Treatments for IIB-IIC: in basic and limited, open en bloc resection following standard oncologic principles, if not possible, transfer to higher-level facility; in emergency, limit to life-saving procedures; in enhanced, laparoscopic en bloc resection, if not possible, then open. Treatments for obstructing, IIB-IIC: in basic, resection and/or diversion; in limited or enhanced, emergency surgical resection. Treatment for IIB-IIC with left-sided: in enhanced, may place colonic stent. Treatment for T4N0/T3N0 high-risk features or stage II high-risk obstructing: in enhanced, may offer adjuvant chemotherapy. Treatment for rectal cancer cT1N0 and cT2n0: in basic, limited, or enhanced, total mesorectal excision principles. Treatment for cT3n0: in basic and limited, total mesorectal excision, if not, diversion. Treatment for high-risk patients who did not receive neoadjuvant chemotherapy: in basic, limited, or enhanced, may offer adjuvant therapy. Treatment for resectable cT3N0 rectal cancer: in enhanced, base neoadjuvant chemotherapy on preoperative factors. For post-treatment surveillance, a combination of medical history, physical examination, carcinoembryonic antigen testing, imaging, and endoscopy is performed. Frequency depends on setting. The current work provides three new localities for Centrolene antioquiense (Noble, 1920), a small centrolenidendemic to Colombia and known for just four sites. An updated diagnosis and life pictures of this species are also presented.Centrolene antioquiense apparently inhabits the canopy of montane forest and its natural habitat has been severely reduceddue to deforestation.

La enfermedad coronaria es una de las principales causas de morbilidad y mortalidad en el mundo y se asocia con importantes consecuencias emocionales y sociales. La actividad física parece ralentizar el inicio y la progresión de las enfermedades cardiovasculares pero también presenta beneficios sobre la salud psicosocial. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo el análisis de la relación entre la práctica de actividad física y la calidad de vida, el bienestar psicológico y la depresión en pacientes con enfermedad coronaria. La muestra estaba compuesta por 275 personas, con edades entre 54 a 98 años. Se aplicó un Cuestionario Sociodemográfico, el Cuestionario de Salud SF-36, la Escala de Depresión Geriátrica (GDS), la Escala de Bienestar Psicológico (EBP) y el Cuestionario de Actividad Física de Yale (YPAS). Los resultados obtenidos pusieron de manifiesto que la práctica de actividad física se asociaba en pacientes con enfermedad coronaria a una mejora en las distintas escalas del Cuestionario de Salud SF-36 y en la Escala de Depresión Geriátrica, confirmando su importancia para el mantenimiento de la calidad de vida relacionada con la salud en estos pacientes

239. A submersible printed sensor based on a monopole-coupled split ring resonator for permittivity characterization

Abstract

This work presents a non-invasive, reusable and submersible permittivity sensor that uses a microwave technique for the dielectric characterization of liquid materials. The proposed device consists of a compact split ring resonator excited by two integrated monopole antennas. The sensing principle is based on the notch introduced by the resonators in the transmission coefficient, which is affected due to the introduction of the sensor in a new liquid material. Then, a frequency shift of the notch and the Q-factor of the proposed sensor are related with the changes in the surrounding medium. By means of a particular experimental procedure, commercial liquids are employed to obtain the calibration curve. Thus, a mathematical equation is obtained to extract the dielectric permittivity of liquid materials with unknown dielectric properties. A good match between simulated and experimental results is obtained, as well as a high Q-factor, compact size, good sensitivity and high repeatability for use in sensing applications. Sensors like the one here presented could lead to promising solutions for characterizing materials, particularly in determining material properties and quality in the food industry, bio-sensing and other applications. © 2019 by the authors. Abstract

Quantifying the genetic correlation between cancers can provide important insights into the mechanisms driving cancer etiology. Using genome-wide association study summary statistics across six cancer types based on a total of 296,215 cases and 301,319 controls of European ancestry, here we estimate the pair-wise genetic correlations between breast, colorectal, head/neck, lung, ovary and prostate cancer, and between cancers and 38 other diseases. We observed statistically significant genetic correlations between lung and head/neck cancer (rg = 0.57, p = 4.6 × 10−8), breast and ovarian cancer (rg = 0.24, p = 7 × 10−5), breast and lung cancer (rg = 0.18, p =1.5 × 10−6) and breast and colorectal cancer (rg = 0.15, p = 1.1 × 10−4). We also found that multiple cancers are genetically correlated with non-cancer traits including smoking, psychiatric diseases and metabolic characteristics. Functional enrichment analysis revealed a significant excess contribution of conserved and regulatory regions to cancer heritability. Our comprehensive analysis of cross-cancer heritability suggests that solid tumors arising across tissues share in part a common germline genetic basis.

Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate the oral shedding of herpesviruses in patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and correlate it with oral mucositis (OM). Methods: Saliva samples were collected before the HSCT and on day D + 8. Multiplex Polymerse Chain Reaction (PCR) was performed to detect herpes simplex virus (HSV)‐1 and HSV‐2, Epstein‐Barr virus (EBV), Cytomegalovirus (CMV), Variella‐zoster virus (VZV), and human herpesvirus (HHV)‐6, HHV‐7, and HHV‐8. OM was assessed according to WHO criteria. Results: Thirty one patients were enrolled, in which 20 of 31 (64.5%) were males; median age was 50 (21–70) years; 16 of 31 (51.6%) underwent allo‐HSCT; and 15 of 31 (48.4%) underwent auto‐HSCT. On D + 8, OM grades III and IV were observed in 8 of 31 (25.8%) patients. In the first salivary collection, EBV was found in 24 of 31 (77.4%), followed by HHV‐6 (7/31, 22.6%) and HHV‐7 (8/31 25.8%). In the second collection, EBV was found in 24 of 27(89%), followed by HSV‐1 (8/27, 30%) and CMV, HHV‐6, and HHV‐7 (5/27, 18.5%, each one). On D + 8, OM grades II and IV were associated with the presence of HSV‐1. HSV‐1 was also associated with worsening degrees of OM on D + 15. Conclusion: The presence of HSV‐1 and CMV in oral samples was more frequent on day D + 8 after HSCT. HSV‐1 detection was associated with severity and worsening of OM. HSV‐1 and CMV seem to be associated with oral dysbiosis due to HSCT. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
