Objectives: To know the factors associated to a successful result in the treatment of kidney transplant lithiasis by extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL)., Methods: From 850 kidney transplants performed at our center, we analyze 15 patients who developed urinary stones. Successful result by ESWL was the dependent variable, and size, location, and multiplicity of the stones were independent variables. Associations between variables were studied by the chi-square test (categorical variables) and the U-Mann Whitney test (continuous variables)., Results: Incidence was 1.76%. ESWL effectiveness was 87%; it was greater in solitary stones than in multiple stones (p = 0.001). No significant differences were found for stone size, although largest stones had a high risk for insertion of a nephrostomy tube (p = 0.013). Finally, ESWL was more effective for stones located at the ureteral anastomosis, although this difference was found not significant., Conclusions: The treatment of kidney transplant lithiasis by ESWL has an effectiveness of 87%. The best result was found for solitary stones located at the ureteral anastomosis.

We carried out a retrospective analysis into the possible uses of thrombotic drugs on 190 consecutive patients with ischaemic stroke who had been admitted to the Neurological Service of the Barcelona 'Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau' in accordance with exclusion criteria commonly accepted for the use of this type of medication. We thus analyzed the initial symptoms, type of instauration, etiological diagnosis and topographical diagnosis. In those patients who could be possible candidates for such treatment with these drugs we assessed their disability variations (on the Rankin scale) at the end of two weeks using currently available therapeutic means. 70% of patients would subsequently be excluded from our study. Among reasons for exclusion were especially minor neurological deficiencies, age and latency time. As for patients included, most predominant factors were immediate instauration, cardioembolic etiological mechanism and severe onset symptomatology (motor disorder, awareness and language abnormalities). We observed a substantial spontaneous improvement in 7% of patients. This fact is especially clear in cardioemboligenic etiology patients. Bearing the spontaneous improvement cases in mind, we concluded that some 23% of patients with ischaemic cerebrovascular pathology could benefit from thrombotic drugs in our milieu.

Handoffs involve the transfer of patient information and responsibility for care between health care professionals. The purpose of the current scoping review was (1) to describe handoff studies with education as part of the intervention and (2) to explore the role of handoff educational interventions in sustaining handoff improvements. This scoping review utilized previously published systematic reviews and a structured, systematic search of 5 databases (January 2006–June 2020). Articles were identified, and data were extracted by pairs of trained, independent reviewers. The search identified 74 relevant articles, most published after 2015 (70%) and conducted in the United States (76%). Almost all of the studies (99%) utilized instruction, 66% utilized skills practice, 89% utilized a memory aid, and 43% utilized reinforcement. However, few studies reported using education theory or followed accepted tenets of curriculum development. There has been a substantial increase over time in reporting actual handoff behavior change (17%–68%) and a smaller but important increase in reporting patient outcomes (11%–18%). Thirty-five percent of studies (26/74) had follow-up for 6 months or more. Twelve studies met the criteria for sustained change, which were follow-up for 6 months or more and achieving statistically significant improvements in either handoff skills/processes or patient outcomes at the conclusion of the study. All 12 studies with sustained change used multi-modal educational interventions, and reinforcement was more likely to be used in these studies than all others (75%, 9/12) versus (37%, 23/62), P = 0.015. Future handoff intervention efforts that include education should use education theory to guide development and include needs assessment and goals and measurable objectives. Educational interventions should be multi-modal and include reinforcement. Future research studies should measure actual handoff behavior change (skills/process) and patient outcomes, include follow-up for more than 6 months, and use education reporting guidelines. Sperm cryopreservation is a fundamental tool for the conservation of avian genetic resources; however, avian spermatozoa are susceptible to this process. To cope with the high production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), the addition of exogenous antioxidants is beneficial. Pectoliv30 is a substance derived from alperujo, and in this study, its effect was analyzed on seminal quality after its addition to the cryopreservation extender of roosters at different concentrations. For this purpose, 16 Utrerana breed roosters were used, and seminal collection was performed in six replicates, creating a pool for each working day with ejaculates of quality. After cryopreservation, one sample per treatment and replicate was thawed, and several seminal quality parameters were evaluated. Statistical analysis revealed numerous correlations between these variables, both positive and negative according to the correlation matrix obtained. Furthermore, the chi-squared automatic interaction detection (CHAID) decision tree (DT) reported significant differences in the hypo-osmotic swelling test (HOST) variable between groups. Moreover, results for this parameter were more desirable at high concentrations of Pectoliv30. The application of this substance extracted from the by-product alperujo as an antioxidant allows the improvement of the post-thawing seminal quality in roosters and facilitates optimization of the cryopreservation process as a way to improve the conservation programs of different endangered poultry breeds. Introduction. The correlation between potassium and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is currently still poorly understood. We conducted this study to explore the correlation between dietary potassium intake and NAFLD, as well as advanced hepatic fibrosis (AHF). The study also sought to identify any potential interactions. Methods. The data employed in this study were obtained from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) program, encompassing a period from 2007 to 2018. Employing the multiple logistic regression analysis, we evaluated the association of dietary potassium intake with NAFLD and AHF. Subsequently, stratification analysis, based on demographic variables, was constructed so as to assess the stability of the results. In addition, potential interaction effects were assessed by interaction tests. Results. A total of 9443 participants were included in the analysis. The mean age of the participants was 50.4 years, and their daily mean dietary potassium and vitamin C intake was 2556.49 mg and 82.93 mg, respectively. Following comprehensive statistical analyses, the findings indicated a negative correlation between dietary potassium intake and both NAFLD and AHF. Participants in Q4 group with dietary potassium intake exhibited a 31% and 42% reduction in the odds of developing NAFLD and AHF, respectively, in comparison to Q1 group. An interaction effect of dietary vitamin C intake was observed in the association between dietary potassium intake and NAFLD. The results imply that high dietary vitamin C intake augment the inverse relationship between dietary potassium intake and NAFLD. Conclusion. Dietary potassium intake was found to have an inverse association with the odds of both NAFLD and AHF. Osteosarcoma (OS), known for its high recurrence and metastasis rates, poses a significant challenge in oncology. Our research investigates the role of programmed cell death (PCD) genes in OS and develops a prognostic model using advanced bioinformatics. We analyzed single-cell sequencing data from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database to identify subpopulations, distinguish malignant from non-malignant cells, assess cell cycle phases, and map PCD gene distribution. Additionally, we applied consistency clustering to bulk sequencing data from GEO and TARGET (Therapeutically Applicable Research to Generate Effective Treatments) databases, facilitating survival analysis across clusters with the Kaplan-Meier method. We calculated PCD scores for each cluster using the Single-sample Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (ssGSEA), which enabled a detailed examination of PCD-related gene expression and pathway scores. Our study also explored drug sensitivity differences and conducted comprehensive immune cell infiltration analyses using various algorithms. We identified differentially expressed genes, leading to Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analyses that provided insights into relevant biological processes and pathways. The prognostic model, based on five pivotal genes (BAMBI, TMCC2, NOX4, DKK1, and CBS), was developed using the Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) algorithm and validated in the TARGET-OS and GSE16091 datasets, showing significant predictive accuracy. Aim: To investigate the effect of synchronous transurethral surgeries or transrectal prostate biopsy on complications in endoscopic bladder stone treatment. Methods: Between January 2016 and December 2021, 402 patient who aged 18 years and older, underwent endoscopic bladder stone surgery were retrospectively analyzed. 345 patients were included in the study, after the exclusion criteria were determined. Patients were divided into 2 groups according to the applied surgical treatments. Group 1(n=174) involved patients who underwent endoscopic bladder stone surgery alone and Group 2(n=171) who underwent TUR-P/TUIP/DVIU or TUR-BT or URS or TRUS-BX in the combination with endoscopic bladder stone treatment. Age, etiology, surgical treatments, operation times, hospitalization times and postoperative complications were compared. Results: Mean age of the patients was 60 (SD=15, range=18-93) years. Mean (SD) stone size was measured as 3 (2.2) cm. There was no difference in patient age and stone size between the groups. Complications of both Clavien 2 and above, Clavien 3A and above were statistically significantly higher in Group 2 (p=0,019; p=0,030). There was no relationship between complications and comorbidities. Operation and hospitalization times were statistically significantly shorter in Group 1 (p= 0,033; p=0,020). Conclusions: We observed an increase in early postoperative complications in TUR-BT or TRUS-BX surgeries performed synchronously with bladder stone treatment. Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is a rare but severe hyperinflammatory condition that may occur following SARS-CoV-2 infection. This retrospective, descriptive study of children hospitalized with multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) in 12 tertiary care centers from 3/11/2020 to 12/31/2021. Demographics, clinical and laboratory characteristics, treatment and outcomes are described. Among 145 patients (95 males, median age 8.2 years) included, 123 met the WHO criteria for MIS-C, while 112 (77%) had serological evidence of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Fever was present in 99%, gastrointestinal symptoms in 77%, mucocutaneous involvement in 68% and respiratory symptoms in 28%. Fifty-five patients (38%) developed myocarditis, 29 (20%) pericarditis and 19 (13%) coronary aneurysms. Among the above cases 11/55 (20%), 1/29 (3.4%) and 5/19 (26.3%), respectively, cardiac complications had not fully resolved at discharge. Underlying comorbidities were reported in 18%. Median CRP value was 155 mg/l, ferritin 535 ng/ml, PCT 1.6 ng/ml and WBC 14.2 × 109/mm3. Most patients had elevated troponin (41.3%) and/or NT-pro-BNP (49.6%). Intravenous immunoglobulin plus corticosteroids were used in 117/145 (80.6%), monotherapy with IVIG alone in 13/145 (8.9%) and with corticosteroids alone in 2/145 (1.3%). Anti-IL1 treatment was added in 15 patients (10.3%). Thirty-three patients (23%) were admitted to the PICU, 14% developed shock and 1 required ECMO. Mortality rate was 0.68%. The incidence of MIS-C was estimated at 0.69/1000 SARS-CoV-2 infections. Patients who presented with shock had higher levels of NT-pro-BNP compared to those who did not (p < 0.001). Acute kidney injury and/or myocarditis were associated with higher risk of developing shock. Conclusion: MIS-C is a novel, infrequent but serious disease entity. Cardiac manifestations included myocarditis and pericarditis, which resolved in most patients before discharge. Timely initiation of immunomodulatory therapy was shown to be effective. NT-pro-BNP levels may provide a better prediction and monitoring of the disease course. Further research is required to elucidate the pathogenesis, risk factors and optimal management, and long-term outcomes of this clinical entity. What is Known: • MIS-C is an infrequent but serious disease entity. • Patients with MIS-C present with multi-organ dysfunction, primarily involving the gastrointestinal and cardiovascular systems. The aims of the current study are to describe the basic family relationships, parental bonding patterns, and dyadic adjustment of families with offspring diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and to explore the correlations between these variables related to family relations and BPD symptomatology. The sample consisted of 194 participants, including parents from the control (N = 76) and clinical group (N = 76), and patients with BPD (N = 42). All progenitors completed a measure of family relations, parental bonding, and dyadic adjustment. Patients completed a measure of parental bonding and borderline symptomatology. The results showed significant differences between both groups in marital and parental functioning, marital satisfaction, dyadic adjustment, and care. Correlations among family variables and BPD symptomatology were also found. In summary, findings underscore the significance of comprehending the complexity of family relationships in BPD while advocating for a relational perspective when examining the family dynamics. Agroecology is highly promoted in research and development discourse as a holistic and effective response to climate change. The objective of this study is to contribute to the analysis of the existing evidence that agroecology enables climate change (CC) adaptation and mitigation in the agricultural systems of Latin America, a region known for pioneering the development of this science, praxis, and movement. We applied the PRISMA method to analyze the existing literature providing such evidence. Stakeholder interviews were used to obtain in-depth perceptions of agroecology's contributions to CC adaptation and mitigation from a wide range of actors and development practitioners based in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru: farmers, NGO representatives, researchers, university program leaders, and public officials. From a total of 1821 initially identified articles, 62 were screened, and 24 case studies analyzed for methods and evidence provided. Twenty-six stakeholders were interviewed. Combining quantitative and qualitative assessment methods, the scientific literature shows that agroecological systems are appreciated for addressing resilience in a systemic way hence not just climate change per se. Mitigation was generally assess by quantitative approaches. Integrating stakeholders' discourse to our analysis highlighted their knowledge of underlying processes contributing to farm CC resilience, where crop and animal diversification and integration of trees into farming systems are central. Stakeholders attributed agroforestry and less use of synthetic fertilizers as important roles for mitigation. Our study highlights the pertinence of combining systematic analyses of the evidence and perceptions drawn from a plurality of stakeholders to recognize the positive contribution of agroecology to climate change adaptation and resilience. However, it also pointed to future research that further assesses the specific trade-offs and synergies between agroecological practices, mitigation, and resilience at multiple scales. Background and Objectives: Urolithiasis occurrence is uncommon in kidney transplantation patients, though it has serious implications, including acute kidney injury in the transplanted kidney. This study investigates the leading causes of urolithiasis in kidney transplantation patients, the diagnostic process, and the outcomes of multimodal management. Materials and Methods: Data collection spanned from January 1997 to December 2021, involving kidney transplantation patients with urolithiasis from the database of the Korean Society of Endourology and Robotics (KSER) research committee. Analysis encompassed factors triggering urolithiasis, the diagnostic process, stone attributes, treatment methods, and outcomes. Results: Our analysis included 58 kidney transplantation patients with urolithiasis from eight medical centers. Of these patients, 37 were male and 4 had previous urolithiasis diagnoses. The mean age was 59.09 ± 10.70 years, with a mean duration from kidney transplantation to diagnosis of 76.26 ± 183.14 months. The most frequent method of stone detection was through asymptomatic routine check-ups (54.7%). Among the 58 patients, 51 underwent stone treatment. Notably, 95.3% of patients with ureter stones received treatment, a significantly higher rate than the 66.7% of patients with renal stones (p = 0.010). Success rates showed no significant differences between renal (70%) and ureter stone (78.0%) groups (p = 0.881). Conclusions: Urolithiasis in transplanted kidneys constitutes an acute condition requiring emergency intervention. Endo-urological interventions are effective for kidney transplantation patients with urolithiasis. Nowadays, an increase in the number of marine species at risk of extinction has been observed. Therefore, studies on the reproductive characteristics of these animals are essential. This animal is considered relatively rare, and there is scarce information regarding its reproductive biology and physiology. Thus, this study aims to describe the morphology and morphometry of sperm obtained from dwarf sperm whale. The material used in this work was collected during the necropsy of a dwarf sperm whale specimen. Thus, seminal samples were fixed and stained with panoptic stain. In morphometric analysis, the results obtained were: acrosome length of 0.83±0.01 μm, head length of 1.5±0.02 μm, intermediate part of 0.4±0.00 μm and total length of 27.3±0.51 μm. In terms of morphology, the defects observed were double head, heavily curled tail, abnormal small head, simply bent tail, piriform head, heavily bent tail and specimens within the normal range. In this context, the morphometric and morphological sperm analysis of Kogia sima described in this study can assist future studies regarding the reproductive physiology of these animals. The aim of this paper is to present a protocol for the routine morphocompositional study of kidney stones in a clinical setting, and to demonstrate that it is a simple and useful approach that can reliably determine the etiology of all types of kidney stones. Our routine study of kidney stones consists of a combination of stereoscopic microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and infrared spectroscopy. The usefulness of such a procedure is demonstrated by its application to several illustrating examples. The protocol applied here is reliable and fast, and does not require multiple infrared spectroscopic analyses for most non-homogeneous samples. It also provides the identification of components that are present in very small proportions, the characteristics of internal and external structures, and information about areas with biological structures, such as renal tubules. It should be noted that results are obtained in a relatively short time and with high reliability. The detailed morphocompositional study of a urinary calculus is essential for establishing the diagnosis and etiology and for initiating the treatment of a patient with renal lithiasis, because there is a relationship between the specific characteristics of a stone and the specific etiology of the disease. The increasing number of treatments available for patients with different types of renal calculi makes improvements in diagnosis and determination of stone etiology, such as the procedure described here, more important now than ever. Simple Summary: Counting the number of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in blood samples has been recognized as being clinically useful. However, challenges like the rarity and heterogeneity of CTCs have limited their widespread use in clinical practice. To address these challenges, a feasible direction is to combine the CTC counts with the routinely used clinical data relevant to cancer detection or screening for analysis. Recent studies demonstrate that this innovative approach has successfully improved cancer detection, prognosis, assessment, and the ability to differentiate between cancers at various stages and with different characteristics. The combination of CTC counts with clinical parameters represents a promising avenue for enhancing the clinical applicability of CTC analysis in cancer management. Analysis of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) holds promise to diagnose cancer or monitor its development. Among the methods, counting CTC numbers in blood samples could be the simplest way to implement it. Nevertheless, its clinical utility has not yet been fully accepted. The reasons could be due to the rarity and heterogeneity of CTCs in blood samples that could lead to misleading results from assays only based on single CTC counts. To address this issue, a feasible direction is to combine the CTC counts with other clinical data for analysis. Recent studies have demonstrated the use of this new strategy for early detection and prognosis evaluation of cancers, or even for the distinguishment of cancers with different stages. Overall, this approach could pave a new path to improve the technical problems in the clinical applications of CTC counting techniques. In this review, the information relevant to CTCs, including their characteristics, clinical use of CTC counting, and technologies for CTC enrichment, were first introduced. This was followed by discussing the challenges and new perspectives of CTC counting techniques for clinical applications. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is one of the deadliest diseases worldwide. Tissue biopsy is the current gold standard for the diagnosis and molecular profiling of NSCLC. However, this approach presents some limitations due to inadequate tissue sampling, and intra- and intertumour heterogenicity. Liquid biopsy is a noninvasive method to determine cancer-related biomarkers in peripheral blood, and can be repeated at multiple timepoints. One of the most studied approaches to liquid biopsies is represented by circulating tumour cells (CTCs). Several studies have evaluated the prognostic and predictive role of CTCs in advanced NSCLC. Despite the limitations of these studies, the results of the majority of studies seem to be concordant regarding the correlation between high CTC count and poor prognosis in patients with NSCLC. Similarly, the decrease of CTC count during treatment may represent an important predictive marker of sensitivity to therapy in advanced NSCLC. Furthermore, molecular characterization of CTCs can be used to provide information on tumour biology, and on the mechanisms involved in resistance to targeted treatment. This review will discuss the current status of the clinical utility of CTCs in patients with advanced NSCLC, highlighting their potential application to prognosis and to treatment decision making. Anemia remains an essential concern affecting the quality of life and the survival of cancer patients. Although there are different approaches to treating anemia in cancer patients, the number of studies reporting the efficacy of iron replacement in cancer patients is limited. In this study, the efficacy and safety of iron carboxymaltose, a parenteral iron treatment option, in the treatment of anemia, were examined retrospectively. A total of 1102 adult patients who received IV ferric carboxymaltose treatment at Hacettepe Oncology Hospital between 2014 and 2020 were included. The mean hemoglobin change observed at the end of the 12th week was 1.8 g/dL, and the rate of patients with an increase in hemoglobin of 1 g/dL or more was 72.1%. It was observed that the treatment demonstrated effectiveness in patients receiving active cancer treatment in all tumor types. The treatment was generally safe, and no grade 3–5 side effects were observed in the patients included in the study. According to one of the most extensive series published in the literature, iron carboxymaltose is an efficient and safe alternative for cancer patients with iron-deficiency anemia. Background: There is no consensus about the etiology of schizophrenia (SQZ) and bipolar disorder (BD). Both hereditary and environmental factors are recognized, but the importance of variables like the role of parental attachment and trauma is still under research. Aims: Evaluate and compare the patient-parent bonding and the frequency and severity of various types of trauma in patients with SQZ, BD, and a control group from Primary Health Care. Method: This study included 50 patients with SQZ and 50 with BD followed at a psychiatric hospital, through a convenience sample. Each participant of the clinical sample was paired with a control with no psychiatric background of the same gender and similar age, from a primary health center. Two scales were applied – Parental Bonding Instrument (PBI) and Childhood Trauma Questionnaire – Short Form (CTQ-SF). Results: Regarding PBI, there was a higher frequency of the most dysfunctional attachment style (affectionless control), in patients with SQZ and BD, with p <.001 (always), both for the father and the mother. In addition, ideal parenting style (optimal parenting) was significantly more common in control samples, with p =.002 or <.001, both for the father and for the mother. Trauma was more frequent and severe in SQZ and BD than controls, in all evaluated dimensions. Again, differences between groups are obvious, with p =.012 or <.001. Parental bonding style and scores in the care and overprotection dimensions were also correlated. The only parental bonding style in which correlations were found was in affectionless control. Correlations were more common in cases of neglect compared to abuse. Conclusions: In this research we found important differences in terms of parental attachment and childhood trauma between patients with SQZ and BD, compared with controls of the same gender and age. The identification of different morphometric patterns of spermatozoa serves as a basis for improving our understanding of the diversity in an ejaculate and to relate them to the potential fertility of males. In this study, we aimed to examine the semen subpopulation structure, following dilution in semen of extenders, using a mathematical approach a possible application to fertility analyses. Ten sexually mature Bos taurus bulls were randomly allotted to one of three groups: (1) Tris–citric acid–egg yolk extender (Tris‐EY); (2) commercial egg yolk extender OptiXcell® and (3) commercial egg yolk extender Triladyl®. The results showed significant differences (p <.05) between extenders in terms of values for head size and head shape variables of individual sperm, indicating an influence of extender composition. Sperm head width was found to significantly differ (p <.05) according to the extender, decreasing in the following order: OptiXcell® (4.836 ± 0.017 μm), Triladyl® (4.695 ± 0.012 μm) and Tris‐EY (4.638 ± 0.010 μm). Principal component analysis allowed us to identify two subpopulations in OptiXcell®, and three subpopulations were each found in Triladyl® and Tris‐EY. Overall, we observed significant differences between sperm subpopulations within each extender (p <.05), with differences in sperm head size and shape between bovine species that can be related to functionality and fertility capabilities. The high-voltage (HV) assets in the existing power transmission network will experience increased electrical, thermal, environmental and mechanical stresses and, therefore, robust condition monitoring is critical for power system reliability planning. Fibre Bragg grating (FBG) sensors offer a promising technology in HV applications due to their immunity to electromagnetic interference and multiplexing capability. This paper reviews the current technology readiness levels of FBG sensors for condition monitoring of transformers, transmission lines, towers, overhead insulators and power cables, with the aim of stimulating further development and deployment of fibre-based HV asset management systems. Currently, there are several reported cases of FBG sensors used for condition monitoring of HV assets in the field, proving their feasibility for long-term use in the power grid. The review shows that FBG technology is versatile and can facilitate multi-parameter measurements, which will standardise the demodulation equipment and reduce challenges with integrating different sensing technologies. Background: Sedation is an integral part in the management of critical patients in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). Optimum sedation is when the child is asleep but easily arousable. The patient should be able to breathe synergistically with the ventilator and should tolerate or be compliant with other therapeutic procedures. Undersedation can make the children hypertensive, tachycardic, and agitated. Conversely, oversedation can cause increased tolerance and prolonged ventilation. Both undersedation and oversedation have negative impacts on patient outcomes such as prolonged mechanical ventilation and ICU stay and increased risk of contracting ventilator-associated pneumonia, thus contributing to significant morbidity and mortality. This study aims to assess sedation levels in ventilated children using RASS in the first 48hrs of ventilation and study their correlation with patient outcomes. Results: Of the 111 children enrolled in the study, 2 were excluded because the sedation was discontinued before 48 h, and 9 were excluded because they were ventilated for more than 7 days. Majority of the children receiving ventilation in PICU were oversedated (40%). Adequately sedated children were observed to have significantly lesser duration of mechanical ventilation (p-value: 0.022) and PICU stay (p-value: 0.01). Undersedated children were noted to have significantly higher incidence of self extubation (p-value: < 0.001), reintubation (p-value: < 0.001), and higher requirement of restraints (p-value: < 0.001). Oversedated had a higher incidence of VAP and mortality (p-value: < 0.001). Conclusion: The findings of this study highlight the importance of achieving adequate sedation in PICU which is associated with better outcomes with respect to duration of ventilation, PICU stay, hospital stay, and mortality. This study also reflects the impact of absence of sedation protocols and emphasizes the need for monitoring of sedation and having protocols to guide clinical practice in order to improve patient outcome.
