Carcinosarcoma of the uterine cervix is a very rare tumour that has been described in less than 70 cases in the literature. It is less common compared with carcinosarcoma of the uterine corpus and it can have two origins: the Müllerian ducts and the mesonephric duct remnants. The association of mesonephric carcinoma with a sarcomatous component was reported in only 11 cases, including the following. We describe a case of a 64-year-old woman, presenting with vaginal bleeding and a cervical lesion reported as a sarcoma of endometrial stroma in the first biopsy. After exclusion of distant disease, she was submitted to radical surgery and the final histopathological examination showed a carcinosarcoma of the cervix with mesonephric origin.

Imperforate hymen is the most frequent cause of haematocolpos, although it is a rare malformation (1:2000). We present two cases of young girls with cyclic abdominal pain and urinary symptoms. At gynaecological examination, they all presented imperforate hymen and ultrasound revealed significant vaginal distension. X-shaped hymenectomy was performed in all patients. The later the diagnosis of imperforate hymen, the higher the risk of complications like haematometra, haematosalpinx, haemoperitoneum and infections such as tubo-ovarian abscesses, peritonitis and endometriosis (retrograde menstruation theory).

Objetivos: A disfunção sexual feminina (DSF) é altamente prevalente, situando-se entre os 40% e 70% em Portugal, e traduz-se por uma alteração em qualquer uma das fases do ciclo de resposta sexual da mulher (desejo, excitação e orgasmo) ou ainda por perturbações dolorosas associadas ao ato sexual. O presente estudo pretendeu estudar a prevalência da DSF numa amostra de mulheres em idade reprodutiva, a prevalência dos diferentes subtipos de DSF e a existência de fatores associados. Tipo de estudo: Tratou-se de um estudo observacional, transversal e analítico. Local: Unidades de Saúde Familiar (USF) Novo Cuidar, Centro de Saúde de Fafe. População: Mulheres entre os 18 e os 58 anos utentes da USF Novo Cuidar. Métodos: A uma amostra aleatória de 346 utentes foi aplicado um questionário anónimo e confidencial de autorresposta. Usaram-se os testes Qui-Quadrado ou de Fisher para comparar proporções, o Odds Ratio para determinar a força de associação entre variáveis e os testes t-Student e Mann-Whitney para testar a associação entre variáveis qualitativas e quantitativas (adotou-se um nível de significância de 0,05). Resultados: A taxa de resposta foi de 86,4% e a prevalência de DSF foi de 77,2% (IC95% 72,0-82,7), tendo a perturbação do orgasmo sido o subtipo mais prevalente, 55,8% (IC95% 51,0-63,9). Foi encontrada uma associação entre a contraceção hormonal e a perturbação do desejo (p = 0,003). A aversão sexual foi estatisticamente relacionada com experiências sexuais indesejadas prévias (p = 0,001). Conclusões: A DSF em idade reprodutiva é muito prevalente apesar de apenas metade das mulheres a considerarem um problema. Foram encontradas associações com alguns fatores que podem ter importância na vivência de uma sexualidade feliz pela mulher. Objectives: Sexual dysfunction is believed to exist in 40% to 70% of the population in Portugal. It is defined by pain or alteration of function in the phases of the sexual act. The present study was designed to estimate the prevalence of sexual dysfunction in women of reproductive age, the prevalence of the various subtypes of sexual dysfunction, and the factors associated with female sexual dysfunction. Study design: Observational, cross-sectional and analytic study. Setting: Novo Cuidar Family Health Unit, Fafe. Participants: Women aged between 18 and 58 years attending the Novo Cuidar Health Unit. Methods: An anonymous, self-administered questionnaire was given to a random sample of 346 women. The chi-squared and Fisher tests were used to compare proportions, odds ratio were computed to determine the strength of associations, and t-Student and Mann-Whitney tests were used to compare means and proportions of relevant variables. Results: The response rate was 86.4%. The prevalence of female sexual dysfunction was 77,2% (CI95% 72,0-82,7). Orgasmic disorder was the most prevalent subtype in 55,8% (CI95% 51,0-63,9). An association between hormonal contraception and low sexual desire was found (p = 0,003). Sexual aversion was statistically related with previous unwanted sexual experiences (p = 0,001). Conclusions: Female sexual dysfunction in women of reproductive age is highly prevalent, although only half of the women surveyed considered it to be a problem. Significant associations were found with factors that can influence satisfying sexuality.

IX Congresso Brasileiro de Hispanistas realizado nos dias 22 a 25 agosto 2016 Este trabalho investiga, à luz da Gramática DiscursivoFuncional (HENGEVELD e MACKENZIE, 2008), as orações denominadas pela tradição linguística de concessivocondicionais introduzidas por incluso si em dados do espanhol peninsular escrito, com a hipótese de que não existe o hibridismo proposto para esse tipo de oração. Autores como Flamenco García (1999), Neves (1999) e Rodríguez Rosique (2012) acreditam que essas estruturas são híbridas, localizandose entre a concessão e a condição, o que significaria, portanto, que essas orações contêm propriedades das duas categorias. Assim, na oração “Incluso si se lo pedimos por escrito, no nos lo devolverá” (FLAMENCO GARCÍA, 1999, p. 3842), a oração introduzida por incluso si compartilha com as concessivas a característica de apresentar um possível obstáculo (pedir por escrito) que não chega a impedir o que está expresso na oração principal (ele não nos devolverá); já com as condicionais, essas estruturas compartilham a característica de apresentarem um evento hipotético (podemos pedir algo por escrito ou não). Como ainda não há ainda estudos que contrariem a existência do hibridismo nos tipos de orações propostas, este trabalho demonstra, por meio dos pressupostos da GDF, que incluso si não corresponde a uma conjunção complexa concessivocondicional, mas sim a uma estrutura condicional enfatizada. O universo de investigação é embasado no corpus CREA. Atualmente, existem como opções de contracepção hormonal métodos combinados (estrógenos e progestógenos) e contendo apenas progestógenos, ambos com eficácia contraceptiva similar. Os progestágenos são esteróides que podem ser sintéticos ou naturais. A progesterona é o único progestágeno natural, ou seja, produzido pelo corpo humano. Os progestágenos sintéticos são chamados de progestinas e são classificados de acordo com sua estrutura química em derivados da 17a-hidroxiprogesterona e derivados da 19 nor-testosterona que exercem funções semelhantes às da progesterona, além de apresentarem manutenção da sua atividade terapêutica quando administrados por via oral, o que não ocorre com a progesterona. Os mecanismos de ação dos anticoncepcionais contendo apenas progestagênios são a anovulação (comum à praticamente todos os métodos contraceptivos hormonais), o espessamento do muco cervical (tornando inviável a passagem dos espermatozóides), atrofia do endométrio (torna-se um ambiente hostil à nidação) e alteram as secreções e o peristaltismo na tuba uterina, dificultando o transporte do espermatozoide ou do óvulo. Os contraceptivos contendo apenas progestagênios são indicados a mulheres que possuem qualquer intolerância ou contraindicação formal ao estrogênio, em contracepção de emergência ou durante a amamentação; já que não inibem a produção de leite, como ocorre no caso de contraceptivos combinados. Contraceptives containing only progestin are given to women Who have no formal intolerance or contraindication to estrogen in emergency contraception or during breast feeding, as it does not inhibit the reduction of milk, as in the case of combined contraceptives.

article i nfo A comparative study was developed on the total fatty acids composition of twelve wild edible mushroom species (Suillus bellini, Suillus luteus, Suillus granulatus, Hygrophorus agathosmus, Amanita rubescens, Russula cyanoxantha, Boletus edulis, Tricholoma equestre, Fistulina hepatica, Cantharellus cibarius, Amanita caesarea and Hydnum rufescens). In order to define qualitative and quantitative profiles, combined fatty acids were hydrolyzed with potassium hydroxide/methanol and all free compounds were derived to their methyl ester forms with methanolic boron trifluoride, followed by analysis by GC-MS. Thirty fatty acids were determined. As far as we know, the fatty acid profiles of A. caesarea and H. rufescens are described for the first time. As for the remaining species, a high number of new compounds were identified, which much improved the knowledge about their fatty acids profiles. In general, oleic, linoleic, palmitic and stearic acids were present in highest contents. Polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids, valuable healthy compounds for humans, predominated over saturated fatty acids for all the studied mushroom species. R. cyanoxantha presented the highest fatty acids amounts, while B. edulis was the poorest species. By Agglomerative Hierarchic Cluster Analysis the studied species were gathered in 5 groups, based in their fatty acid patterns.

A comparative study of the organic acids and phenolics composition and of the total alkaloids content of entire wild edible mushrooms (Russula cyanoxantha, Amanita rubescens, Suillus granulatus and Boletus edulis) and correspondent caps and stipes was performed. All species presented oxalic, citric, malic and fumaric acids, with A. rubescens exhibiting the highest total organic acids content. Organic acids were preferably fixed in the cap. Among phenolics, only p-hydroxybenzoic acid was found in A. rubescens and S. granulatus, in very low amounts. B. edulis was the species that presented the highest total alkaloid amounts. Except for this species, alkaloids mainly accumulated in the cap. All of the species exhibited a concentration-dependent scavenging ability against DPPH . B. edulis revealed the highest antioxidant capacity. The cap seemed to be the part with highest antioxidant potential. The organic acids composition of two different chestnut (Castanea sativa Miller) varieties (Judia and Longal) were determined by HPLC/UV. In order to check the influence of the processing over these compounds, samples treated in three distinct manners (roasted, boiled and fried) were also analysed. The results showed that chestnut is characterized by the presence of seven organic acids: oxalic, cis-aconitic, citric, ascorbic, malic, quinic and fumaric acids. The organic acid quantitative profile allows the distinction of the two varieties. Longal variety samples presented higher organic acids contents than those from Judia variety. The contents of the pair malic plus quinic acids may be useful for the discrimination of the two varieties. Roasting, boiling and frying procedures lead to significant reduction of total organic acids contents.

Para esta finalidade existem técnicas de segmentação de imagens, uma das tarefas de visão computacional, a qual consiste na repartição de uma imagem digital em múltiplos segmentos, regiões ou objetos, com o intuito de facilitar a análise e compreensão. Métodos de segmentação de imagens são frequentemente utilizados para localizar objetos e bordas em imagens. Para tal tarefa, frequentemente são empregados algoritmos de aprendizado de máquina; disciplina científica que trata do projeto e desenvolvimento de algoritmos que melhoram automaticamente com a experiência, imitando o comportamento de aprendizado humano. O processo de aprendizado de máquina pode ser utilizado de diferentes formas, no entanto a categoria de aprendizado semi-supervisionado foi a que melhor se adaptou à proposta deste projeto. Esta categoria representa uma mescla entre o aprendizado supervisionado e o aprendizado não-supervisionado e trabalha com ambos os dados rotulados e não rotulados em sua fase de treinamento, proporcionando o uso de características individuais e/ou por conjunto. Diante da necessidade de combinação do aprendizado semi-supervisionado com a segmentação de imagem, foram estudadas formas de se utilizar informação provenientes de imagens para alimentar o aprendizado de máquina semi-supervisionado. Como resultado deste estudo, o algoritmo de aprendizado semi-supervisionado conhecido como competição e cooperação entre partículas foi estendido para a aplicações na tarefa de segmentação interativa de imagens. To study and classify images it is necessary to understand the subdivisions they present. For this purpose there are image segmentation techniques, one of the computer vision tasks, which consists in the distribution of a digital image into multiple segments, regions or objects, in order to facilitate analysis and understanding. Image segmentation methods are often used for locating objects in images and borders. For this task, machine learning algorithms are often employed; scientific discipline that deals with the design and development of algorithms that automatically improve with experience, imitating the human learning behavior. The machine learning process can be used in different ways, however the category that best adapted to the project proposal, which represents a blend of supervised learning and unsupervised learning, called semi-supervised learning. Such category of algorithms works with both labelled and unlabelled data in their training phase, allowing the use of individual characteristics and or per set. Given the necessity of combining semi-supervised learning with image segmentation, some means of using information delivered from image to feed the semi-supervised learning machine were studied. As a result of this study, the semi-supervised learning algorithm known as competition and cooperation among particles was extended to be applied in the interactive image segmentation task. In the input image, some pixels are classified by the user and serve as a starting pixels to the algorithm. These pre-labeled points are used to create particles in the proposed model. Also, some parameters and algorithm structures were changed to optimize the classification and means of expressing the results in order to make it more suitable for the image segmentation task

A passagem de plantão deve conter todas as informações indispensáveis para continuidade da assistência. Falhas nesse processo podem prejudicar a segurança do paciente, levando a um tratamento inadequado e com potencial perigo. O objetivo deste estudo foi caracterizar a passagem de plantão entre o Centro Cirúrgico e a Unidade de Terapia Intensiva. Estudo descritivo e transversal, realizado na Unidade de Terapia Intensiva adulto de um hospital escola no município de Goiânia – Goiás, no período de maio a agosto de 2014. Os dados foram coletados por meio de um checklist dividido em quatro categorias contendo informações referentes à identificação, procedimento realizado, condições clínicas e cuidados pós-operatórios. A maioria das informações do checklist não foi repassada para a equipe da Unidade de Terapia Intensiva. Espera-se que os dados apresentados contribuam para criação de estratégias seguras e fortaleçam o comprometimento dos profissionais com a qualidade das informações transmitidas durante a passagem de plantão.

Background: prolonged mechanical ventilation (MV) is synonymous with failure in ventilatory weaning. To identify the risk factors related with prolonged MV in children undergoing cardiac surgery (CS) may contribute for early intervention and a better prognosis. Objective: to identify factors associated with prolonged MV in children undergoing CS in northeastern Brazil. Method: retrospective study of childrenunder MV in the postoperative period of CS in a large hospital located in northeastern Brazil during 2012. Children with immunodeficiency, cystic fibrosis, severe neurological disease or respiratory failure were excluded. Descriptive data analysis was performed, followed by simple and multivariate Poisson regression. Results: Of 136 children undergoing MV in the postoperative period of CS, 125 had congenital heart disease. The most frequent diagnoses were interventricular communication (22.8%) and tetralogy of Fallot (19.9%). Categories 1 and 2 RACHS-1 were the most frequent, with 24.4% and 52.8% respectively. Ages ranged from two months to 17 years old (median 52 months), duration of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) 20-205 minutes (median 60 minutes) and duration of MV from one to 192 hours (median 5 hours). The overall mortality rate was 2.2%. Multivariate analysis showed that risk factors for prolonged MV (more than 6 hours) were higher categories RACHS-1, prolonged CPB, and the presence of respiratory complications during surgery. However, higher PaO2 showed a protective factor. Conclusion: The risk factors for prolonged MV were: higher categories RACHS-1, prolonged CPB, and the presence of respiratory complications during surgery. While higher PaO2 showed as a protective factor.

Background: ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is a significant infectious complication in Intensive Care Units (ICU) related to increased mortality and hospital expenses. Bundles care has been successful for prevention of VAP, gathering a group of actions that together result in the reduction of infections and period of invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV). Objectives: to evidence the effectiveness of the bundle for prevention of VAP in the ICU of a Brazilian hospital. Methods: this study was carried out in an adult ICU with 20 beds of a general hospital in the city of Recife, northeastern Brazil, from January 2012 to December 2014. Preventive measures included the indication of IMV, oral hygiene with chlorhexidine 0.12%, the supine position (30-45°), cuff pressure between 20-30 cmH2O, prophylaxis of deep vein thrombosis and stress ulcer. The daily application involved ICU interdisciplinary team, audited by the Hospital Infection Control Service. Results: There was a considerable reduction in the incidence density (ID) of VAP, with the beginning of the preventive measures and reduction of VMI utilization rate: View this table: Table 1. Influence of adherence to bundles in reducing ID of VAP and the utilization rate of IMV in an adult ICU in northeastern Brazil, from 2012 to 2014. Conclusion: The bundle application by industry professionals may have been a favorable spot, contributing to patient safety, as they took on the role of actors of this strategy, which requires no increase in workload or costs, being accessible to all realities.

A distribuição urbana de mercadorias é considerada uma atividade essencial para o desenvolvimento das cidades, bem como para a manutenção das necessidades e estilo de vida da população. A complexidade do planejamento urbano envolvendo esta atividade se reflete no conflito de interesses entre os diversos agentes envolvidos e nas externalidades negativas acarretadas à operação, como congestionamentos, poluição sonora e atmosférica, entre outras. Nos últimos anos, o planejamento do transporte de cargas tem se destacado no cenário mundial devido, principalmente, às questões de sustentabilidade e mobilidade urbana. Embora nítido o recente enfoque dado a estes temas nos centros urbanos brasileiros, principalmente após a criação da Lei Federal Nº 12.587/2012, pouco se avançou no planejamento da distribuição de mercadorias e na implantação de soluções de logística urbana no País. Neste contexto, o presente trabalho apresenta diretrizes para subsidiar a elaboração de Planos de Mobilidade Urbana de Carga e propõe um método de avaliação do grau de desenvolvimento das políticas públicas e ações municipais relacionadas à distribuição urbana de mercadorias. Para isso, foram analisadas as diretrizes propostas pelo Ministério das Cidades no Caderno de Referência para Elaboração de Plano de Mobilidade Urbana em interface com as soluções exitosas de logística urbana aplicadas em diversas cidades, o que possibilitou elencar diretrizes distintas por classe de cidades. Realizou-se, ainda, um estudo exploratório em que foi possível caracterizar os municípios brasileiros quanto às políticas públicas existentes para o planejamento urbano e de transportes e validar o modelo de avaliação proposto, aplicando-o para os municípios de Belo Horizonte, Contagem e Fortuna de Minas, localizados em Minas Gerais. O estudo exploratório, em sua primeira etapa, permitiu identificar um expressivo déficit na elaboração de Planos de Mobilidade Urbana (PLANMOB). Além disso, foi possível realizar uma avaliação comparativa entre três municípios de distintas características, evidenciando os pontos deficitários a serem combatidos para a melhoria do planejamento e da operacionalidade da distribuição urbana de mercadorias. The urban freight distribution is considered an essential activity for the development of cities, for the maintenance of needs and peoples lifestyle. The complexity of urban planning involving this activity is reflected in the interest conflict between the stakeholders and the negative externalities brought to the operation, such as traffic jam, noise and air pollution. Now days, the freight transportation planning has excelled on the world stage due mainly to issues like sustainability and urban mobility. Although the recent focus given to these issues in Brazilian cities, especially after the creation of the Federal Law 12.587/2012, little progress has been made in planning the distribution of goods and implementation of urban logistics solutions in the country. In this context, this work presents guidelines to support the development of Load Urban Mobility Plans and proposes a method to evaluating the degree of development of public policies and municipal actions related to urban distribution of goods. For this, the proposed guidelines were reviewed by the Ministry of Cities in the Reference Booklet for Development of Mobility and Urban Planning with successful city logistic solutions applied in several cities, which allowed to create a new guidelines for distinct classes of cities. It held also an exploratory study which it was possible to characterize the urban transport planning in Brazilian municipalities and validate the evaluation model proposed, applying it for the cities of Belo Horizonte, Contagem and Fortuna de Minas - Minas Gerais (Brazil). The exploratory study has identified a significant deficit in the urban mobility plans, quantitatively. Moreover, it was possible to carry out a comparative evaluation between the three distinct municipalities, highlighting the deficit points to be tackled to improve the planning and operation of the urban freight distribution.

To check the influence of the conservation procedure in the chemical composition of chanterelle mushroom, phenolic compounds and organic acids of samples preserved under four different conditions (drying, freezing, conservation in olive oil and in vinegar) were determined. Phenolics and organic acids were analyzed by HPLC-DAD and HPLC-UV, respectively. The results showed that chanterelle is characterized by the presence of six phenolic compounds (3-, 4-, and 5-O-caffeoylquinic acid, caffeic acid, p-coumaric acid, and rutin) and five organic acids (citric, ascorbic, malic, shikimic, and fumaric acids). Samples preserved in olive oil also exhibited hydroxytyrosol, tyrosol, luteolin, and apigenin, whereas conservation in vinegar led to the detection of hydroxytyrosol, tyrosol, and tartaric acid in the analyzed samples. The conservation procedures to which chanterelle samples were subjected seem to affect the qualitative and quantitative phenolics and organic acids profiles.

O presente trabalho propõe-se a realizar uma revisão narrativa da literatura nacional dos últimos 15 anos (entre os anos de 2000 e 2015) sobre as relações entre a cultura organizacional e dois conceitos intimamente relacionados ao adoecimento do trabalhador: o estresse ocupacional e o burnout. Para isso, foi realizado um levantamento bibliográfico por meio da consulta às bases de dados LILACS, PePSIC e SciElo. De forma complementar, foi consultado o banco de teses da CAPES. No total, foram contemplados oito trabalhos científicos, sendo cinco referentes às relações entre cultura e estresse ocupacional e três sobre as relações entre cultura e burnout. Os resultados apontam a escassez de estudos brasileiros sobre o tema. Ademais, um aspecto importante refere-se à dificuldade de articulação dos estudos, o que pode ser atribuído, em alguma medida, à utilização de diferentes ferramentas para a apreensão dos mesmos fenômenos. Apesar dos desafios gerados pelas inconsistências empíricas, foi possível identificar que a cultura organizacional configura-se como um preditor do desenvolvimento do estresse ocupacional e da síndrome de burnout. Acredita-se que o presente trabalho poderá contribuir para a elaboração de novas políticas e práticas organizacionais que prezem pela qualidade da cultura desenvolvida dentro do âmbito laboral.

Objective Identify nurses’ emancipatory practices in primary care, to contribute to the improvement of health care. Method A case study type social research of qualitative nature, in which nurses of a primary health care service unit in São Paulo were interviewed. Results The home visit was identified as a nursing practice possible to be expanded in order to identify social determinants of health, triggering emancipatory practices in the service. This expansion occurred because the design of health care labour intended by the service team changed its focus from the traditional object of health services, the disease. Conclusion First, it is advocated that social policies lead projects with the purpose of improving health needs. On the other hand, the daily labour needs to provide opportunities for reflection and discussion of healthcare projects, leading workers to propose labour-processes targeted to both the social determinants of health and people’s illness. Objetivo Identificar las prácticas emancipadoras de enfermeras en Unidad de Salud Familiar fueron el objeto de este estudio. Método La investigación social cualitativa tipo estúdio de caso. Fueron entrevistados enfermeros de una Unidad de Salud Familiar en Sao Paulo. Resultados Se identificó que la Visita Domiciliaria ha ampliado su alcance y identificado determinantes del proceso salud-enfermedad, lo que provocó en la Unidad de Salud Familiar prácticas emancipadoras. Esta expansión se produjo debido a que el diseño de la atención en propósito por la USF amplió el tradicional objeto de los servicios de salud. Conclusión Se aboga que las directrices de las políticas sociales basen proyectos que tengan como fin el mejoramiento de las necesidades de salud y que el trabajo diario proporcione la reflexión y discusión de los proyectos de atención, para proponer prácticas que enfoquen en los determinantes del proceso salud-enfermedad, tanto cuanto en sus resultados - la enfermedad en el cuerpo individual. Objetivo Identificar as práticas emancipatórias de enfermeiros da Atenção Primária, com a finalidade de contribuir para o aprimoramento do cuidado em saúde. Método Pesquisa social de natureza qualitativa, do tipo estudo de caso. Foram entrevistados os enfermeiros de uma Unidade de Saúde da Família em São Paulo. Resultados Identificou-se que a visita domiciliária, prática protocolar, ampliou seu escopo e identificou determinantes do processo saúde-doença, desencadeando na Unidade de Saúde da Família práticas emancipatórias. Essa ampliação ocorreu porque o projeto de cuidado intencionalizado ampliou o objeto tradicional dos serviços de saúde. Conclusão Advoga-se que as diretrizes das políticas sociais ancorem projetos que tomem como finalidade o aprimoramento das necessidades de saúde e que o cotidiano do trabalho proporcione reflexão e discussão dos projetos de cuidado, para intencionalizar práticas que incidam nos determinantes do processo saúde-doença, tanto quanto nos resultados - a doença expressa no corpo individual.

Considerando-se a sociedade contemporânea, nota-se que a amizade é influenciada pelas novas tecnologias, como o telefone celular e a Internet, e suas ferramentas (correio eletrônico, redes sociais e programas de mensagens instantâneas). O estudo apresentado nesta tese busca trazer uma abordagem sociológica sobre tal tema, pois a amizade representa um campo relativamente novo de pesquisa na Sociologia. Nesse contexto, é fundamental que se compreendam os impactos das novas tecnologias da informação sobre as relações de amizade, e a função social da amizade na sociedade atual. Devido à importância de se considerar não só as consequências previstas e manifestadas pelo indivíduo, mas também aquelas não expressas, tomou-se como referencial teórico para o estudo da função social da amizade na sociedade contemporânea os conceitos de "função social manifesta" e "função social latente", pensados pelo sociólogo norte-americano Robert K. Merton. Tais funções sociais da amizade na sociedade contemporânea foram investigadas com base em 37 entrevistas, realizadas com homens e mulheres jovens adultos, moradores da metrópole paulistana, sendo a maioria natural da cidade de São Paulo. And, considering contemporary society, the friendship is influenced by new technologies, as mobile telephone, Internet, and its products (email, social networks and instant messenger programs). The study presented in this thesis aims to show a sociological approach about this theme, as friendship represents a relatively new field of research in Sociology. In this context, it is very important to understand the impacts of new technologies on friendship relations, and the social function of friendship in this society. It is important considering not only the manifested consequences but also the unpredictable of social function by the person. That's why we took as the theoretical reference for the study of social function of friendship in contemporary society the concepts of "manifest functions" and "latent functions" of the American sociologist Robert K. Chickens represent an important blood source for sand flies and their presence in the endemic area is often cited as a risk factor for VL transmission. However, the role of chickens in VL epidemiology has not been well defined. Here, we tested if chicken antibodies against Lu. longipalpis salivary gland sonicate (SGS) could be used as markers of exposure to sand fly bites. All naturally exposed chickens in a VL endemic area in Brazil developed anti-SGS IgY antibodies. Interestingly, Lu. longipalpis recombinant salivary proteins rLJM17 and rLJM11 were also able to detect anti-SGS IgY antibodies. Taken together, these results show that chickens can be used to monitor the presence of Lu. longipalpis in the peri-domiciliary area in VL endemic regions, when used as sentinel animals.

INTRODUCAO: O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a concordância entre os kits de fator antinucleo (FAN) HEp-2 em relacao aos padroes de fluorescencia observados. Objetivou-se, ainda, avaliar o desempenho dos kits em relacao a intensidade de fluorescencia apresentada pelo uso dos conjugados fluorescentes, o numero de mitoses por campo presentes no poco de reacao e a titulacao necessaria para se obter o limiar de reatividade minima (1+) dos soros controle reagentes presentes nos kits. MATERIAIS E METODOS: Setenta e quatro amostras com resultados conhecidos foram testadas em quatro kits comerciais para a pesquisa de FAN HEp-2. O processamento estatistico foi feito pelo programa STATA® 9.2 e a concordância entre os resultados foi aferida pelo teste Kappa. RESULTADOS: O indice de concordância entre os kits, obtido pelo teste Kappa, foi superior a 0,94. Houve grande variabilidade quanto ao numero de mitoses por campo presentes por poco de reacao e quanto a intensidade de fluorescencia dos conjugados, alem de ter havido significativa diferenca em dois kits em relacao a diluicao necessaria para obtencao do limiar de reatividade minima (1+). CONCLUSAO: A taxa de concordância geral obtida pelo teste Kappa foi elevada, atingindo indice superior a 0,94. As maiores diferencas foram devido a presenca de amostras com padrao variando entre nuclear pontilhado fino (PF), nuclear pontilhado fino denso (PFD) e nuclear homogeneo (HOMO). INTRODUCTION: The objective of this study was to assess the concordance among antinuclear antibody (ANA) HEp-2 kits as to the observed fluorescent patterns. The objective was also to evaluate their performance concerning the following items: fluorescence intensity due to the use of fluorescent conjugates, the number of mitosis per field on the reaction wells, and the required dilution to obtain minimum reactivity (1+) of the reagent control-serum present in the kits. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Seventy-four samples previously known results were tested using four commercial kits ANA HEp-2 kits. The statistical evaluation was carried out with STATA® 9.2 software and the concordance among the results was assessed with Kappa test. RESULTS: The concordance coefficient among the kits obtained with Kappa test was higher than 0.94. There was a great variability as to the number of mitosis per field on the reaction wells and the intensity of fluorescence conjugates. Concerning the required dilution to obtain a minimum reactivity (1+), there was a significant difference in two kits. CONCLUSION: The general concordance level obtained with Kappa test was higher than 0.94. The greatest differences were observed in samples with nuclear fine speckled (FS), nuclear dense fine speckled (DFS) and nuclear homogeneous (HOMO) patterns. As far as serum for minimum reactivity level and intensity of fluorescent conjugates are concerned, a better standardization is yet to be pursued.

Carotenoids are biologically active phytochemicals present as micro-components in fruits and vegetables, being responsible for their yellow, orange and red colors. The chromatographic behavior and the UV absorption spectrum provided by HPLC-DAD analysis constitute the clues for their identification. Mushrooms are of increasing importance in modern nutrition and medicine, due to the presence of metabolites with pharmacological potential. In this work, samples of wild and commercial mushroom species (Agaricus bisporus, Amanita caesarea, Amanita rubescens, Boletus edulis, Cantharellus cibarius, Fistulina hepatica, Hydnum rufescens, Hygrophorus agathosmus, Pholiota nameko, Pleurotus ostreatus, Russula cyanoxantha, Suillus bellini, Suillus bovinus, Suillus granulatus, Suillus luteus, Tricholoma equestre and Tricholoma portentosum) were screened by HPLC-DAD for the presence of carotenoids. By applying this methodology to 22 samples, comprising either lyophilized or fresh materials, only � -carotene was found and just in C. cibarius species. The occurrence of this pigment in other three of the analyzed species previously described raises some questions about the methodology used.

Este estudo tomou como objeto a articulação teoria-prática da disciplina Fundamentos e Práticas da Enfermagem em Saúde Coletiva, do curso de graduação em enfermagem da EEUSP, e como objetivos: identificar a apreensão dos conceitos da disciplina e verificar sua aplicação nas práticas de enfermagem entre esses estudantes de graduação. Utilizou questionário com questões fechadas e abertas para apreensão empírica do objeto, através de análise de conteúdo. Os resultados indicam que a dimensão teórica apenas em parte possibilitou sínteses capazes de fomentar práticas sociais coerentes com o arcabouço teórico-conceitual da Saúde Coletiva. Para superar essa dificuldade faz-se necessário explicitar as diferentes abordagens teórico-metodológicas que fundamentam as práticas e que o educador direcione o educando para elaboração de sínteses, com a finalidade de formar enfermeiros comprometidos com a interpretação da saúde-doença como processo social e da saúde como direito social e, portanto, com a transformação das práticas reiterativas do modelo hegemônico. This study focused on the relationship theory-practice of the discipline Fundamentals and Practices of Collective Health Nursing, offered to undergraduate students of the Nursing School, University of São Paulo, Brazil. The objectives were: to identify and understand the concepts studied in the discipline and to identify its application in nursing practices among these students Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed by content analysis. Results: theoretical dimension only partly allowed students to make syntheses potent to develop social practices consistent with the conceptual framework of Collective Health. To overcome this difficulty - and prepare nurses committed to the interpretation of health and disease as a social process and health as social right and, therefore, the transformation of reiterative practices of the hegemonic model -, it is necessary to clarify the different theoretical and methodological approaches underpinning the practices, having teachers directing students to articulate theory and practice. Este estudio tuvo como objeto la articulación teoría-práctica del curso Fundamentos y Prácticas de Enfermería en Salud Colectiva, para alumnos de graduación de la Escuela de Enfermería de la Universidad de Sao Paulo. Se buscó identificar la aprehensión de los conceptos del curso y evaluar su aplicación en las prácticas de enfermería. Se utilizó un cuestionario para aprehender empíricamente el objeto. Las informaciones fueron analizadas con análisis de contenido. Resultados: la dimensión teórica, apenas en parte, posibilitó una síntesis capaz de fomentar prácticas sociales coherentes con la estructura teórica-conceptual de Salud Colectiva. Para superar esa dificultad es necesario explicar los diferentes enfoques teórico-metodológicos que fundamentan las prácticas y que el educador conduzca al educando en la elaboración de síntesis. De esta manera, formar enfermeros comprometidos con la interpretación de salud-enfermedad como proceso social, con la salud como derecho social y con la transformación de las prácticas reiterativas del modelo hegemónico.

A comparative study on the amino acid composition of 11 wild edible mushroom species (Suillus bellini, Suillus luteus, Suillus granulatus, Tricholomopsis rutilans, Hygrophorus agathosmus, Amanita rubescens, Russula cyanoxantha, Boletus edulis, Tricholoma equestre, Fistulina hepatica, and Cantharellus cibarius) was developed. To define the qualitative and quantitative profiles, a derivatization procedure with dabsyl chloride was performed, followed by HPLC-UV-vis analysis. Twenty free amino acids (aspartic acid, glutamic acid, asparagine, glutamine, serine, threonine, glycine, alanine, valine, proline, arginine, isoleucine, leucine, tryptophan, phenylalanine, cysteine, ornithine, lysine, histidine, and tyrosine) were determined. B. edulis and T. equestre were revealed to be the most nutritional species, whereas F. hepatica was the poorest. The different species exhibited distinct free amino acid profiles. The quantification of the identified compounds indicated that, in a general way, alanine was the major amino acid. The results show that the analyzed mushroom species possess moderate amino acid contents, which may be relevant from a nutritional point of view because these compounds are indispensable for human health. The aim of this work was to find the most useful inorganic nitrogen source to enable Leucopaxillus giganteus to become a more nutritious mushroom, regarding organic acid and phenolic composition and total alkaloids content. For these, the influence of NH 4NO 3,NaNO 2, KNO 3,, and (NH 4) 2HPO 4 on the organic acid production was determined by HPLC-UV and total alkaloid content was assessed by a spectrophotometric method, after precipitation by Dragendorff's reagent. The results showed that L. giganteus presented an organic acid profile composed of oxalic, cis-aconitic, citric, and fumaric acids, citric acid being the major one. The quantitative organic acid profile and total alkaloid content were affected by the nitrogen source and depended on the developmental stage of mycelium and nitrogen availability. Despite being present in all samples, no phenolic compound could be identified.

Volatile and semivolatile components of 11 wild edible mushrooms, Suillus bellini, Suillus luteus, Suillus granulatus, Tricholomopsis rutilans, Hygrophorus agathosmus, Amanita rubescens, Russula cyanoxantha, Boletus edulis, Tricholoma equestre, Fistulina hepatica, and Cantharellus cibarius, were determined by headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) and by liquid extraction combined with gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Fifty volatiles and nonvolatiles components were formally identified and 13 others were tentatively identified. Using sensorial analysis, the descriptors “mushroomlike”, “farm-feed”, “floral”, “honeylike”, “hay-herb”, and “nutty” were obtained. A correlation between sensory descriptors and volatiles was observed by applying multivariate analysis (principal component analysis and agglomerative hierarchic cluster analysis) to the sensorial and chemical data. The studied edible mushrooms can be divided in three groups. One of them is rich in C8 derivatives, such as 3-octanol, 1-octen-3-ol, trans-2-octen-1-ol, 3-octanone, and 1-octen-3-one; another one is rich in terpenic volatile compounds; and the last one is rich in methional. The presence and contents of these compounds give a considerable contribution to the sensory characteristics of the analyzed species Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia for a grant (SFRH/BD/22108/2005)

The phenolic compounds and the organic acids composition of the edible beefsteak fungus Fistulina hepatica was determined by HPLC/DAD and HPLC/UV, respectively. The results showed a profile composed by five phenolic compounds (caffeic, p-coumaric and ellagic acids, hyperoside and quercetin) and six organic acids (oxalic, aconitic, citric, malic, ascorbic and fumaric acids). The quantification of the identified compounds revealed that ellagic acid (ca. 49.7%) and malic acid (ca. 57.9%) are the main compounds in this species. In a general way the phenolic profile revealed to be more constant than the organic acids one and could be more useful for the quality control of the species. Beefsteak fungus was also investigated for its capacity to act as a scavenger of DPPH() radical and reactive oxygen species (superoxide radical, hydroxyl radical and hypochlorous acid). Good results were obtained against DPPH in a concentration-dependent manner. Beefsteak fungus also displayed good activity against superoxide radical, achieved by its capacity to act as both scavenger and xanthine oxidase inhibitor. A prooxidant effect was noticed for hydroxyl radical, which may be due to its capacity for iron ions reduction. Little ability for iron chelation was also observed. Beefsteak fungus showed a weak protective effect against hypochlorous acid.

The organic acids and phenolics compositions of nine wild edible mushrooms species (Suillus bellini, Tricholomopsis rutilans, Hygrophorus agathosmus, Amanita rubescens, Russula cyanoxantha, Boletus edulis, Tricholoma equestre, Suillus luteus, and Suillus granulatus) were determined by HPLC-UV and HPLC-DAD, respectively. The antioxidant potential of these species was also assessed by using the DPPH• scavenging assay. The results showed that all of the species presented a profile composed of at least five organic acids: oxalic, citric, malic, quinic, and fumaric acids. In a general way, the pair of malic plus quinic acids were the major compounds. Only very small amounts of two phenolic compounds were found in some of the analyzed species: p-hydroxybenzoic acid (in A. rubescens, R. cyanoxantha, and T. equestre) and quercetin (in S. luteus and S. granulatus). All of the species exhibited a concentration-dependent scavenging ability against DPPH•. T. rutilans revealed the highest antioxidant capacity. Keywo...
