This study was intended to hear from experts. Meta-classroom is a university curriculum in the field of culture and arts. The research area is a Korean university lecture room. The target audience is the master's program, doctoral program and related experts, and the departments are performing arts, media communication, and film department. Outside were educators and experts. Due to the COVID-19 environment, meta-classrooms were provided to the educational environment. The purpose is to find the Meta-classroom and the possibility of curriculum progress. The content of the curriculum consists of knowledge VR, AR, AI and big data. The research tool did a regression analysis, found to have an impact on, they are online education is 0.28 (%), metaverse classroom is 20.6 (%), knowledge system is 12.5 (%), Meta-class is overall influence 33.38 (%). It had a positive impact on a new educational curriculum in the field of culture and art.

University students crave immersive, collaborative, interdisciplinary, applied learning contextualized to real world sustainability challenges. Liberal arts and sciences institutions are particularly well positioned to respond. Here we report on our high impact, cross-disciplinary, biomimicry-themed firstyear experience (FYE) curricula. Biomimicry is an emerging, multidisciplinary approach to innovative problem-solving that seeks to emulate functional biological adaptations to inspire more innovative, efficient, resilient, and regenerative solutions to human challenges. In the classroom, biomimicry fosters higher-order thinking, creativity, and imaginative problem-solving while teaching the fundamentals of functional biology, STEM research, communication, and systems thinking. The highly integrative, skills-focused, experience-based, and philosophy-grounded nature of our curricula is optimized for the liberal arts and sciences FYE mission. Our goal is for students to successfully begin their transition to the liberal arts and sciences undergraduate setting, relate more strongly to the natural world, and draw inspiration for human problem-solving from nature. Merging the first-year seminar and biomimicry pedagogies seems to amplify learning in both areas. We share highlights of our curricula and pedagogy to encourage the development of more nature-based biomimicry first-year seminars promoting global citizenship at other liberal arts and sciences institutions.

This study is an aesthetic inquiry, as part of a middle school visual arts class, from the standpoint of Maxine Greene's aesthetic perspective in education. By adopting Maxine Greene's perspective, affective learning comes to the fore along with cognitive learning, and accentuates multiple realities through the imagination through the research experiences of the artist, in the process of aesthetic inquiry. In this context, a research was carried out within the scope of visual arts education course for an improvement in students' interpretation from multiple perspectives with the understanding of aesthetic inquiry. In their processes of aesthetic inquiry, students' were to examine works of art and it was tried to reveal the different realities of these works depending on their imagination. The purpose of this study is to reveal the improvement in students' interpretation processes from different perspectives through aesthetic inquiry in visual arts course. The study uses action research design, one of the qualitative research designs. It covers a 14-week course at a public middle school. Thematic analysis was used to interpret the data and the research findings were presented. According to the findings, it was determined that the students reflected that which they discerned in the course processes, the connections they established regarding their knowledge, emotions and experiences, the differences forming in their ideas and the development they saw in themselves from their personal perspectives. Students showed empathy by seeing different ideas together during the course process and provided new interpretations from multiple perspectives. Under the guiance of the teacher, the students developed self-confidence in the process, expressed themselves by asking questions about what they were curious about and explaining the reasons for their ideas, and made artistic applications. Thus, through aesthetic inquiries, it was possible to reveal the interpretations of students in which they reflect themselves from multiple perspectives, diversify their ideas and develop a clear perspective on what they can do.

The aim of this study is to explain the case that preservice teachers will enable alternative experiences to today's visual arts education by using alternative ceramic firing techniques. In this study, qualitative research was carried out using a single-case study during the 2018-2019 academic year. Six preservice teachers were chosen using the criteria of having the necessary knowledge and skills for ceramic training and teaching, and for being educated in the Fine Arts Education Department. In the collecting data part of the research, the techniques of alternative firing such as; fumed firing, raku firing, saggar firing, and obvara firing techniques were practised in the context of this study. The main research data were based on the observation data collected through the process of the practices which were conducted by the artist- researcher. In addition to observations, a data set was gathered to understand and describe the case such as; lesson instruction materials, diaries, self-evaluation forms, and product evaluation forms. The data was analysed using a descriptive framework based on art education and teacher training literature. The findings of the study represent seven themes; "Adaptation of learning to school conditions", "Organising practise steps", "Motivation for creative experiences", "Suggestions for professional practices", "Suggestions for problems", "Adaptability to teaching" and "interaction during the teaching process". According to the findings, it can be stated that the alternative firing techniques transformed into alternative ways for teaching processes in visual arts education through this case. Consequently, the discussion topics are as follows: "Alternatives motivate creative experience"; "Adapting the alternatives to school conditions"; "Organising steps for alternative practises"; Transferring alternative experiences to professional lives".

New liberal arts refer to the reorganization of traditional liberal arts to realize the intersection and integration within liberal arts and between liberal arts and natural sciences. The characteristics of new liberal arts are mainly problem-orientation, cross-integration, new technology application and innovative development. Under the background of new liberal arts, the implementation of interdisciplinary education in foreign language majors is an effective way for local colleges and universities to promote the construction of "new foreign languages" and the training of interdisciplinary and applied foreign language talents. Based on the connotations of new liberal arts and interdisciplinary education, and in view of the institutional and cultural barriers to the planning and implementation of interdisciplinary education, this paper proposes an optimized path for the design and implementation of interdisciplinary education for foreign language majors in local colleges and universities: deepen the integration between foreign language majors and other disciplines, build a staged, multi-level talent training system, set up cross-discipline curricular groups, apply new technology to transform traditional teaching and learning methods, strengthen the construction of interdisciplinary education platforms and faculties, and establish a foreign language interdisciplinary education system guarantee mechanism.

China International "Internet +" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is one of the important starting points for the country to cultivate innovative and entrepreneurial talents. After investigation and research, it was found that the proportion of liberal arts projects advancing to the national finals was much lower than that of science and engineering projects, and the degree of compatibility between innovation and entrepreneurship projects and competition requirements was relatively lower. Liberal arts college students have many pain points such as little interest in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, low participation, solidification of innovative concepts, and insufficient innovation. Colleges and universities should pay attention to their core advantages in text expression, topic speeches, information collation and other core advantages when cultivating the ability of liberal arts students in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, combined with the current political hotspots to cultivate awareness of problems. They can stimulate the innovation vitality of liberal arts students through educational means such as "practical" professional course learning, "cross-border" second classroom construction and "immersive" innovation and entrepreneurship guidance, and then inject new momentum into social innovation and entrepreneurship.

Background: Visual perception and observational skills are an essential part of Visual Arts education, through which young learners, in the primary school, acquire important and necessary skills to create artworks during their creative projects. These skills provide learners in the primary school the opportunity to overcome their self-imposed criticism to their own works of art. Similar research projects highlight the inability of learners in the middle childhood to creatively express what they visually perceive. Aim: The study sought to assist learners in the middle childhood to overcome the slump in their creative attempts through a series of visual sharpening exercises, in the form of an Art intervention. Setting: A qualitative case study with elements of action research was conducted at a single site at a primary school in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town. Methods: The participants of the study comprised of four grade 5 classes divided into a test group and control group. The intervention was administered to the test group in the form of visual sharpening exercises. The practical projects of four grade 5 classes were assessed, analysed, compared, and the findings were discussed according to the themes identified during the study. Results: The results indicate factors that might influence the visual perceptual skills of learners in middle childhood, while completing Visual Art projects. Analysis of the research data revealed an increase in the test group's score compared to the control group. There was a marked effect on the test group participants' ability to record what they visually perceived. Conclusion: This study investigated and highlights shortcomings in the CAPS Visual Art curriculum for Grade 5. Bridging the gap between practice and curriculum shortfalls is important. The study suggests that the Department of Education (DoE) should supplement the Visual Arts curriculum with visual perceptual training for middle childhood learners.

In recent years, Open Educational Resources (OER) have gained significant reach globally as a means of facilitating free and open access to educational materials. However, most of the empirical research on the adoption of OER in higher education is conducted in the US, while Europe and other countries, including Greece, fall behind. To that end, this research focused on the awareness and use of OER by higher education students and educators within the Graphic Arts discipline in Greece, to provide evidence regarding the adoption of OER to university administrations and libraries and encouraging their use across campus. The findings suggest that awareness is low, especially among undergraduate students, despite the fact that educators are aware of OER and already share their work as such. This paradox is probably related to students' vague knowledge of what OER are and how to use them for learning. Therefore, actions are required from educators, university administration and librarians to inform students of the benefits of OER adoption in the educational process as well as to communicate educators' OER efforts to students. Moreover, participants identified as the biggest obstacle for adopting OER in Graphic Arts the lack of a portal that accommodates OER for this discipline, which lays the groundwork for further research.

It is scarce to find a village where most of its citizens are engaged in traditional wayang crafts, especially if the most residents are Muslims. Moreover, the number of puppets needed to fulfill shadow puppet shows is limited throughout the world. However, the fact shows that Butuh Hamlet has a majority of residents who work as wayang artisans and still exist today, a model for the continuation of traditional arts in facing tough challenges and is an example of the sustainability of traditional arts in facing tough challenges, both externally and internally. This sustainability can be seen in the number of residents who still pursuing the crafting profession, which craft are still the main source of income for residents. Butuh Hamlet has received the title of Kampung Berseri (a beautiful and clean village). Apart from that, they also continue to work on strengthening the wayang craft with the Among System: caring for, fostering, and sharpening each other in developing the wayang craft. The sustainability of wayang as a means of livelihood and a medium for preaching (da'wah) has made the lives of artisans better.

Teachers heavily rely on the dominant language of instruction—a spoken and written mode of communication—rather than expressing creative art forms through actions, signs, symbols, and other means. The reliance on monolingual forms of instruction to teach these art forms may diminish their efficacy. This research thus aimed to optimise the use of multilingualism in the context of Creative Arts and expression. Teachers teach Creative Arts with the aim of equipping learners with fundamental knowledge and skills in the arts, thereby fostering creativity, imagination, and appreciation for artistic activities. Multilingualism also entails using the human senses to see, understand, and navigate the various symbolic worlds humans encounter. The study adopted a transformational paradigm based on qualitative participatory research, focusing on ten eighth-grade learners purposefully selected from a particular school. Semiotics, the study of signals and the epistemology of their presence in society, served as the theoretical foundation for the research. The researcher collected data through focus groups and observations and then used a narrative analysis method for analysis. The findings revealed that limitations such as insufficient instructional time, a lack of training and linguistic dominance, a lack of resources, and limited preparedness impede the effective use of multilingual instructional methodologies. The researcher concludes that compulsory incorporation of semiotics in Creative Arts instruction may be crucial in fostering creative thinkers who cannot only express creative practices in a conventional manner but also use their talents in other domains, such as animation in creative practice.

The value of academic advising has been increasingly emphasized in higher education. In this study, attention is given to the most significant types of advice that a sample of cybersecurity faculty and advisors from the Commonwealth of Virginia recommend giving to cybersecurity students. The results show that faculty and advisors recommended that students be aware of six different aspects of cybersecurity education including the value of experience, the need for lifelong learning, the importance of hard work, the need to develop technical skills, the interdisciplinary nature of cybersecurity, and the need to develop liberal arts or professional/soft skills. Implications of the findings include the need to embrace the advising of cybersecurity students, the importance of helping cybersecurity faculty and advisors deliver effective advising, and recognition that good advising is more than simply telling students which classes to take.

There is a critical need to consider ways to enrich the educational experiences and well-being of adolescents when the lack of empathy in the world is high. This paper presents the concepts of "Artful Empathy" and "Artful and Empathic Learning Ecology." The concepts are exemplified from a multi-site case study within Australian secondary visual art studio classrooms. The article demonstrates how learning and making art in an artfully empathic ecology can support the legitimacy of diverse and marginalized voices. Arts-based performative approaches may facilitate empathic knowing across disciplines with global traction.

In the study, it was aimed to examine Fine Arts High School (FAHS) students' self-perceptions for their musical instruments and their music performance anxiety according to some variables. Also it was aimed to reveal the relationship between their self-perceptions for musical instrument and music performance anxiety. The sample of the research consisted of 273 music department students studying at Malatya Abdulkadir Eris FAHS, Konya Çimento FAHS, Balikesir T.C. Ziraat Bankasi FAHS and Ayvalik Sebahat-Cihan Sisman FAHS. The data for the research were obtained by using the "Self-Perception Scale for A Musical Instrument" and the "Kenny Musical Performance Anxiety Scale". As a result of the study, it was determined that Ayvalik Sebahat-Cihan Sisman FAHS students had lower music performance anxiety than students of other schools. It was concluded that female students experienced more anxiety than male students. In addition, it was determined that as the duration of education increased, the level of self-perception for the musical instrument increased. A statistically significant negative weak correlation was found between self-perception for the musical instrument and musical performance anxiety values. In other words, it was concluded that as the students' self-perceptions for their musical instruments increased, their music performance anxiety decreased.

Successful implementation of the current English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum invites a new approach to teacher professional learning (PL). A focus on establishing and renewing relationships must play a role in developing the collaboration necessary for curriculum implementation. This article presents a research-based argument that effective and sustainable teacher professional development, structured to build teachers' capacity and improve student learning outcomes, would support the implementation of the Manitoba ELA curriculum.

Learning should be assisted by both outdoor and in-class activities that contribute to knowledge structuring. Students can energetically participate in outdoor actions and learn by doing. Learning requires an unlimited deal of participation and effort. These activities that afford firsthand experiences, support EFL students in putting theory into repetition and improving their performance. The goal of this investigation is to find out how important outdoor language arts activities are for intermediate school students. The researcher employed an experimental approach and enlisted the help of (60) male students. The participants are split into two groups, each with thirty students: an experimental group and a control group. To balance the two groups, certain variables are used. The findings show that there are important differences in reading ability between the experimental and control groups, with the experimental group outperforming the control group.

Under the background of new liberal arts, the era of "great foreign languages" requires college English teaching in local applied colleges and universities to break through the barriers of result-centred traditional teaching and bravely shoulder the important task of "moral and political education". In order to guide teachers to carry out this key task effectively, the present study preliminarily builds a teaching model in which four links of curriculum moral and political goals, teaching content, implementation steps and curriculum evaluation are interrelated. After a semester of teaching practice, the students participants are not satisfied with such an English teaching model integrated with moral and political education. The teacher participants do not understand the connotation of curriculum moral and political education, how to integrate moral and political goals with knowledge and ability goals, on how much degree to integrate moral and political education with college English teaching, and what is the standard to evaluate such a comprehensive course. Most of them hope to be guided by experts and learn from the demo courses. Therefore, this study further accurately sets teaching goals, determines systematic teaching content, highlights the gradual teaching process, and integrates teaching evaluation methods to reconstruct a dynamic and systematic teaching model of moral and political education into the course of college English, in order to provide teachers with standards and norms of moral and political education in the course of college English, and help teachers design excellent courses of moral and political education in the course of college English, so as to provide a guarantee for local colleges and universities to train applied and qualified talents.

This qualitative case-study looks at how one preservice teacher uses multimodal counter-storytelling to push back on dominant historical narratives in social studies teaching. It examines how the teacher conceptualizes the use of critical arts and humanities as pedagogical tools to represent historically marginalized voices and disrupt dominant narratives (counter-storytell) in social studies education, and secondly, how they engage with these critical multimodalities in order to counter-storytell in their social studies student teaching. Findings show that preservice teachers can deftly and richly use multimodalities as access for counter-storytelling towards transformative social justice teaching with their students, but that a lack of curricular support and the necessity of content knowledge create challenges which demand greater assistance for educators in this pedagogical journey.

This article examines the unique intersection of knowledge that occurs in the digital arts learning context. The knowledge shared has emerged from the author's practice as a teaching artist designing and delivering an immersive and interactive intermedial arts learning experience in the field of physical theatre entitled Creature Interactions: an interactive workshop. Building on Mishra and Koehler's TPACK model for technology integration in learning contexts, an adapted model for conceiving and understanding technology integration in arts learning is proposed, TPAACK. The revised model presented acknowledges the primacy of aesthetic knowing and affect in arts encounters and its intrinsic presence in arts learning across any domain; digital or analogue.

This article reflects the inquiries and discoveries experienced by early childhood educators and teaching artists involved in participatory action research designed to explore how to co-construct sustainable collaborations in early childhood settings. Drawing inspiration from the Reggio Emilia Approach and other international examples, the authors detail how professional development through collaborative research leads to co-constructed experiences that significantly impact artistic encounters for children. This article highlights a two-year research project, named the Leading Learning Council (LLC), and focuses on overarching pedagogical practices, the role of documentation and reflection in the co-construction of arts experiences for educators and children, an example of the classroom as a laboratory, and considerations for applying the model within diverse early childhood settings. A significant outcome of the project was participant recognition of leadership roles in sustaining collaborative arts-based approaches in early childhood education.

At a time of uncertainty Arts Education continues to offer powerful learning possibilities for being in, and with, the world. While it is crucial to research these possibilities in our own communities, clearly, engaging and collaborating with colleagues from various global contexts and cultures offers great potential. These interactions can develop our understandings of common and disparate issues related to arts education from a range of perspectives and allow us greater impact in the work we do. The Arts Education Research for Cultural Diversity and Sustainable Development network is an international think tank and part of the UNESCO UNITWIN program supporting arts education academics to collaborate and engage in interdisciplinary discussions and research initiatives. In this article we outline the distillation of previous and current research from this group and affiliates to identify four key areas of arts education research that have global relevance and significance. We argue that these four "imperatives"--decolonisation; cultural resilience; inclusion, agency, and wellbeing; and the post-digital age--not only represent a snapshot of current research in arts education but provide a focus for future research and collaborations critical in a pandemic and post-pandemic world. We invite arts education scholars to join us in the discussion.

Engaging along with music during lockdown is a kind of common behavior of human beings. This article mirrors the mass perception of music during the specific situation of lockdown in Nepal. The descriptive online survey design was used by taking 136 participants from Fine Arts Campus by purposive sampling technique. Frequency, percentage, and presentation of chars were major statistical techniques used in this research. The finding indicates that most of the participants were enjoying by listening and participating in musical activities during the pandemic. Whatever the purpose of listening, singing, dancing, composing, recording, playing the musical patterns, mass people knowingly-unknowingly connected with music during a lockdown. So, concluded that almost all respondents voted for the need for musical activities and varieties of music for managing their stress.

The National Art Education Association (NAEA) launched the Connected Arts Networks (CAN) initiative in September 2022. CAN is a collaborative effort among the NAEA, the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) and other esteemed partners, including the Educational Theater Association (EdTA), the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and the New York City Department of Education's Arts Office. Funded by an $8 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education, CAN aims to establish virtual Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) nationwide. The objective is to create a sustainable model for professional learning among arts educators in public schools and public charter schools with a focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion (ED&I) and social-emotional learning (SEL). Accordingly, CAN empowers dance, music, theater, visual, and media arts educators to enhance their pedagogy, instruction, and leadership skills over a five-year period.

The article explores the aesthetic transfer approach as a pivotal and distinctive element of contemporary visual arts pedagogy, emphasizing the "learning by making" method, which prioritizes hands-on exploration and creation for acquiring artistic skills and knowledge. It advocates moving from traditional architectural education towards a more experimental approach. The study assesses a visual arts course at a private university in Cairo, Egypt, where students designed and implemented a full-scale wooden chair inspired by a celebrity. The results reveal significant success in fostering team collaboration, enhancing practical skills, and bridging the theoretical and physical design gap. Comparisons with related research highlight the impact of instructional shifts, such as adapting to virtual platforms during the COVID-19 pandemic and employing alternative design techniques like Shape Grammars, on student learning and final project outcomes. The findings emphasize the importance of effective composition and practical experience in art education while identifying areas for future improvement.

Abstract Background International research demonstrates an association between arts and culture activities and health and wellbeing. A similar association exists for sports event attendance and health. The aim of this study was to investigate associations between arts and culture engagement and attending sports events during the past year and self-rated health (SRH). Methods A cross-sectional study. A public health survey with three reminders was sent to a stratified random sample of the adult 18–84 population in Scania in the southernmost part of Sweden in October-December 2019. The weighted response rate was 44%, and 40,087 total respondents were included in the present study. Analyses were performed in logistic regression models with multiple adjustments for age, education, country of birth, leisure-time physical activity (LTPA), smoking, alcohol consumption, and economic stress. Results The prevalence of poor SRH was 32.8% among women and 27.6% among men. The prevalence of theatre/cinema attendance was 63.2% among women and 55.2% among men, arts exhibition/museum attendance was 41.0% among women and 36.0% among men, and for sports attendance it was 33.8% among women and 48.2% among men. All items included in the final models showed statistically significant associations with self-rated health in bivariate logistic regression models. In the multiple model, adjusted for all covariates including both men and women, the odds ratios (ORs) of poor SRH were statistically significant OR 1.21 (95% confidence interval: 1.14–1.29) for not visiting theatre/cinema during the past year, OR 1.11 (1.04–1.17) for not visiting arts exhibition and OR 1.31 (1.24–1.39) for not visiting a sports event. Conclusions Significant associations between arts and culture engagement and sports event attendance, and SRH were observed, although effect measures were comparatively low for arts and cultural engagement. The results may be useful for informing public health promotion and prevention strategies.

My name is Selena Chau. I’m a librarian and a retired performing artist. I performed with a dance company that held rehearsals and concerts at this building, the Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts, at 14th and Alice Street in downtown Oakland. This building is over 90 years old and is now a city-managed arts center. Through continued care of its theater and studio spaces, civic and performing arts companies have drawn audiences to dance and theater concerts held in this building at 1428 Alice Street. For the first forty years, the building’s ownership and uses were exclusively for White Protestant society–first by the Women’s City Club and then by the Oakland Moose Lodge. Eventually, this building became a significant location for Black and African-American performing arts companies.

The study had a descriptive survey model. The purpose of the study was to determine the problems faced in art education by academicians in fine arts education under the conditions of COVID-19 pandemic, and to help take measures for the solution of these problems. The population of the study consisted of higher education institutions/branches that provide fine arts education. The sampling was the academicians of the Fine Arts Education Department, Faculty of Fine Arts, and Painting/Sculpture and Conservatory Departments. After the pandemic was detected in Turkey in mid-March 2020, an attempt was made to contact the sampling between April and June 2020. The study was conducted with 196 academicians who had different academic titles. An online survey was used as the data collection tool in this study. The survey included 37 questions in 6 problem fields on demographic data, distance education backgrounds, and problems that could be experienced in distance education and art education, was applied to those who wanted to participate voluntarily in the study from academicians. Frequency and percentage distributions were used in statistical analysis of the data in the present study. The participants stated that they experienced problems mostly due to the contents/achievements of the courses, student-related problems, and measurement and evaluation-related problems during the distance education process. However, they also stated that they experienced fewer problems that stemmed from internet and computer, distance education program, and teacher-related problems.

Capacity to teach the arts is a problem reported by many teachers in primary (elementary) school settings in Australia. This paper reports on research which explored how to build primary school teachers' capacity in arts-based pedagogy. It outlines the design and development of a co-mentoring program between arts mentor practitioners and generalist primary school teachers which used an Arts Immersion approach. The findings of this research reveal the effectiveness of co-mentoring as an approach to support professional learning in arts education, and the use of an Arts Immersion approach to improve teachers' capacity in planning, facilitating, and assessing authentic arts experiences.
