Abstract Background Patients diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) have poor sleep quality due to multiple factors. We aimed to assess the sleep status and related factors of TB patients in Shenzhen, China. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted on 461 TB patients hospitalized at Shenzhen Third People’s Hospital from March 2021 to January 2022, and sleep quality was assessed using the Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI). Results A total of 459 valid questionnaires were collected, and 238 of the 459 TB patients had general or poor sleep quality (PSQI > 5). With the increasingly close integration of artificial intelligence technology and networks, the operation and production of networks in the future should be fully digitalized, automated and intelligent.At present, fault locating of cross-professional network mainly relies on operation and maintenance staff of each professional network to analyze and dispatch orders, resulting in long trouble clearing time and repeated orders.In order to save manual work, with the help of automation and artificial intelligent technologies, a cross-professional network intelligent operation and maintenance system was developed and applied in real network.The associated topology information of IPRAN and OTN, along with the real-time IPRAN and OTN alarm data were analyzed, the root cause alarm was located accurately, the fault location was determined, and dispatch order was achieved automatically.A automatic cross-professional fault diagnosis capability was built by the system, which reduced the fault locating time from traditional two minutes to tens of milliseconds, therefore, the manual work was reduced by more than 90%, and 95% fault types of the existing network could be covered.

Li et al. evaluate the immunogenicity and safety of the CoronaVac inactivated COVID-19 vaccine in elderly patients with underlying medical conditions in China. Most patients show comparable neutralizing antibody and SARS-CoV-2-specific T cell responses to healthy controls, and no serious adverse effects are seen.

Abstract Background A new approach for laparoscopic gastric dissociation in minimally invasive esophagectomy (MIE) was attempted. This study aimed to evaluate the short-term outcomes, safety, and efficacy of two-port laparoscopy using the McKeown procedure. Methods This retrospective study included 206 consecutive patients with esophageal cancer who underwent a modified two-port laparoscopic or the traditional five-port McKeown procedure at our institution from August 2019 to August 2021. Surgical outcomes of the two methods were compared. Results Of the 206 patients, 106 (51.46%) underwent the modified two-port procedure, whereas 100 (48.54%) underwent the traditional five-port procedure. Subsequently, 182 propensity score-matched patients were compared. No significant differences were observed in laparoscopic operative time, blood loss during laparoscopic surgery, number of dissected lymph nodes, and pain score on postoperative day 1 between the two groups. The rate of complication and postoperative length of hospital stay did not differ significantly between the two groups. The total hospitalization cost also did not differ significantly between the two groups (p = 0.325). No postoperative deaths occurred in either group. Conclusions Our findings demonstrate that laparoscopic gastric dissociation using the two-port approach in MIE is a safe and effective procedure, with short-term outcomes comparable to those of the traditional five-port procedure in patients with esophageal cancer. Larger studies with longer follow-up duration are warranted.

To study the evolution law of internal pore structure of Jinping marble under loading, the mineral composition and uniaxial compression test were first conducted. Then, the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) tests were carried out on the samples subjected to different axial pressures, and the corresponding test results were further analyzed. Finally, the functional relationships of the damage degree and effective stress ratio with the axial compression ratio were established according to the NMR porosity parameters. It is found that the pore distribution in the marble has multi-scale characteristics. During the loading process, the T 2 spectrum distribution curve of NMR shifts to the right as a whole, and the proportion of small-sized pores decreases while the proportion of medium-sized pores increases. There exist multi-fractal structures of pores inside the rock samples, and the fractal dimension and connectivity of pores are affected by the small pore proportion. When the small pore proportion is low, the pore structure is relatively simpler and the fractal dimension is lower. When the small pore proportion is high, the pore structure is more complex and the fractal dimension increases. Both the porosity and damage degree of the marble increase exponentially with the increase of load, and the effective stress ratio of damaged and undamaged state also increases. This study has important guiding significance for revealing the mechanism of rock damage and failure, and also own certain reference value in rock damage detection.

Introduction: Understanding and tracking changes in crop water requirements is crucial for effective irrigation, water planning, and future decisions. Determining the reference evapotranspiration (ETO) and crop evapotranspiration (ETC) of China cotton is essential for water resource management.Methods: This study analyzed the spatiotemporal changes in ETO and ETC at 248 standard stations in cotton production regions of China from 1960 to 2019, and the ETO and ETC of each station were quantified by using the CropWat 8.0 and non-parametric Mann-Kendall test. The impacts of climate change on ETO and ETC were evaluated by analyzing the contribution rate and sensitivity coefficient of climate change.Discussion: The results revealed distinct distributions of ETO and ETC across various growth stages and spatial scales in the cotton production regions of China. In the Huanghe Valley, the rate of decline for ETO decreased from 787.23 mm to 769.84 mm, while in the Yangtze Valley cotton region, it decreased from 749.19 mm to 735.01 mm. Similarly, in the Northwest inland cotton regions, the rate of decline for ETO reduced from 991.19 mm to 982.70 mm. As for ETC, the rate of decline decreased from 677.62 mm to 654.33 mm in the Huanghe Valley, from 653.02 mm to 625.50 mm in the Yangtze Valley, and from 916.25 mm to 886.74 mm in the Northwest inland cotton regions. ETO was highly sensitive to maximum air temperature (Tmax), followed by relative humidity (RH), sunshine duration (SD), wind speed at 2 m height (WS), and minimum air temperature (Tmin). WS was the most influential climate variable associated with ETO change, followed by Tmax, SD, RH, and Tmin. Significant declines in WS and SD were indicated in the decrease in ETO in the Huanghe Valley and Yangtze Valley cotton regions. WS showed a significant decrease in ETO in the northwestern inland cotton region. However, decreased RH and increased temperature commonly reversed the trend of ETO from 2000 to 2019, and the northwestern inland cotton region had the most significant upward trend. Amidst high temperatures and drought stress, the irrigation needs of cotton were rising, posing a significant threat to both cotton production and water resources.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs with the unique ability to degrade or block specific RNAs and regulate many cellular processes. Neuroinflammation plays the pivotal role in the occurrence and development of multiple central nervous system (CNS) diseases. The ability of miRNAs to enhance or restrict neuroinflammatory signaling pathways in CNS diseases is an emerging and important research area, including neurodegenerative diseases, stroke, and traumatic brain injury (TBI). In this review, we summarize the roles and regulatory mechanisms of recently identified miRNAs involved in neuroinflammation-mediated CNS diseases, aiming to explore and provide a better understanding and direction for the treatment of CNS diseases.

Transcriptional plasticity interacts with natural selection in complex ways and is crucial for the survival of species under rapid climate change. How 3D genome architecture affects transcriptional plasticity and its interaction with genetic adaptation are unclear. We transplanted estuarine oysters to a new environment and found that genes located in active chromatin regions exhibited greater transcriptional plasticity, and changes in these regions were negatively correlated with selective signals. This indicates a trade-off between 3D active regions and selective signals in shaping plastic responses to a new environment. Specifically, a mutation, lincRNA, and changes in the accessibility of a distal enhancer potentially affect its interaction with the ManⅡa gene, which regulates the muscle function and survival of oysters. Our findings reveal that 3D genome architecture compensates for the role of genetic adaptation in environmental response to new environments and provide insights into synergetic genetic and epigenetic interactions critical for fitness-related trait and survival in a model marine species.

To study the dynamic responses and energy characteristics of the marble from the Jinping hydropower station, the dynamic compression tests on the rock samples are carried out using the split-Hopkinson pressure bar, and the fractal dimension of the fragments is also introduced to quantitatively characterize the relationship among the failure shape, energy consumption characteristics and strain rate of the rock samples. The results show that the initial compaction section of the stress-strain curve of the marble under dynamic loading is not obvious, and the stress-strain curve takes on a rebound phenomenon when the strain rate is low, and the peak stress of the sample increases with the rise of strain rate. The dynamic compressive strength has a linear relationship with the logarithm of strain rate, and the energy time-history curves show an "S"-shaped evolution. The incident energy, reflected energy and transmitted energy all increase with the increasing strain rate. The dynamic compressive strength has a logarithmic growth with the energy consumption density. As the energy consumption density or strain rate rises, the failure degree and the fractal dimension of the samples gradually increase. This study is of certain reference value for improving the cognition of rock damage and fracture evolution mechanism under dynamic loads such as blast.

A new challenge for multi-view learning was posed by corrupted view-correspondences.To address this issue， an effective multi-view learning method for view-unaligned data was proposed.First，to capture cross-view latent affinity in multi-view heterogenous feature spaces，representation learning was employed based on multi-view non-negative matrix factorization to embed original features into a measurable low-dimensional subspace.Second, view-alignment relationships were modeled as optimal matching of a bipartite graph, which could be generalized to multiple-views situations via the proposed concept reference view.Representation learning and data alignment were further integrated into a unified Bi-level optimization framework to mutually boost the two learning processes, effectively enhancing the ability to learn from view-unaligned data.Extensive experimental results of view-unaligned clustering on three public datasets demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms eight advanced multiview clustering methods on multiple evaluation metrics.

Abstract Background Compound Turkish gall ointment (CTGO) has a long history of being widely used as a folk medicine in Xinjiang for the treatment of eczema. CTGO is currently in the pre-investigational new drug application stage, but its pharmacological mechanisms of action have not yet been clarified. Methods First, a sensitive and reliable ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-Q exactive hybrid quadrupole-orbitrap high-resolution accurate mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q-Orbitrap HRMS) technique was established. Second, an integrative strategy of network analysis and molecular docking based on identified and retrieved ingredients was implemented to investigate the potential targets and pathways involved in the treatment of eczema with CTGO. Finally, Sprague–Dawley (SD) rats with eczema were prepared to verify the predicted results. The skin conditions of the rats were observed, evaluated, and scored. Skin tissues were observed by hematoxylin–eosin (HE) staining, and the levels of serum interferon-γ (IFN-γ) and interleukin-4 (IL-4) were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The expression levels of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), nuclear factor kappa-B p65 (NF-κB p65), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) were detected by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). Results A total of 29 compounds were identified. We found 38 active components and 58 targets for the treatment of eczema, which included 118 signaling pathways related to inflammation, immunity, and apoptosis. CTGO significantly improved the skin surface and histopathological characteristics of eczema-affected rats, downregulated the expression of IL-4, TLR4, NF-κB (p65), IL-1β, and TNF-α, and upregulated the expression level of IFN-γ. Conclusion We predicted and validated our prediction that CTGO may be used to treat eczema by affecting the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway, which provides guidance for future experimental studies.

ObjectiveTo examine the relationship between urinary copper (Cu), zinc (Zn) and arsenic (As) and the incidence of nodular goiter and to provide evidences for nodular goiter prevention and treatment. MethodsThe cases of the study were 373 pathologically diagnosed nodular goiter patients hospitalized in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery of Anhui Cancer Hospital from September 2016 through March 2019; while, the controls were 1 : 1 individually gender- and age (± 2 years)-matched healthy people selected from a cohort study conducted in Anhui province. Face-to-face questionnaire interviews and laboratory tests were carried out among the participants. ResultsSignificantly lower morning urinary Cu (median [µg/g]; 25th quartile, 75th quartile) was detected in the cases compared to that in the controls (6.13; 2.36, 11.00 vs. 10.36; 6.27, 16.95; Z = – 6.625; P < 0.001); while, no significant differences between the cases and the controls were detected in morning urinary Zn (312.16; 98.65, 500.19 vs. 340.40; 99.41, 580.54) and As (30.44; 4.36, 88.30 vs. 23.75; 3.67, 81.82) (both P > 0.05). After adjusting for confounding factors such as gender, age, marital status, smoking, passive smoking, alcohol consumption, daily sleep time, body mass index, fasting blood glucose, serum total cholesterol, serum triglyceride, serum high density lipoprotein cholesterol, urinary Zn and urinary As, the results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that higher urinary Cu was associated with a decreased risk of nodular goiter (the third quartile [Q3] – the highest quartile [Q4] vs. the lowest quartile [Q1]: odds ratio [OR] = 0.73, 95% confidence interval [95% CI]: 0.54 – 0.98; [Q4] vs. Q1: OR = 0.56, 95% CI: 0.39 – 0.81; and Q4 vs. Q1: OR = 0.42, 95% CI: 0.19 – 0.97 only for male participants); the analyses did not revealed significant correlations between urinary Zn and As and nodular goiter incidence (all P > 0.05). ConclusionUrinary Cu concentration may reversely associated with nodular goiter incidence in Chinese people.

Purpose – The microseismic monitoring technique has great advantages on identifying the location, extent and the mechanism of damage process occurring in rock mass. This study aims to analyze distribution characteristics and the evolution law of excavation damage zone of surrounding rock based on microseismic monitoring data. Design/methodology/approach – In situ test using microseismic monitoring technique is carried out in the large-span transition tunnel of Badaling Great Wall Station of Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway. An intelligent microseismic monitoring system is built with symmetry monitoring point layout both on the mountain surface and inside the tunnel to achieve three-dimensional and all-round monitoring results. Findings – Microseismic events can be divided into high density area, medium density area and low density area according to the density distribution of microseismic events. The positions where the cumulative distribution frequencies of microseismic events are 60 and 80% are identified as the boundaries between high and medium density areas and between medium and low density areas, respectively. The high density area of microseismic events is regarded as the high excavation damage zone of surrounding rock, which is affected by the grade of surrounding rock and the span of tunnel. The prediction formulas for the depth of high excavation damage zone of surrounding rock at different tunnel positions are given considering these two parameters. The scale of the average moment magnitude parameters of microseismic events is adopted to describe the damage degree of surrounding rock. The strong positive correlation and multistage characteristics between the depth of excavation damage zone and deformation of surrounding rock are revealed. Based on the depth of high excavation damage zone of surrounding rock, the prestressed anchor cable (rod) is designed, and the safety of anchor cable (rod) design parameters is verified by the deformation results of surrounding rock. Originality/value – The research provides a new method to predict the surrounding rock damage zone of large-span tunnel and also provides a reference basis for design parameters of prestressed anchor cable (rod).

Background: An association between testicular cancer and Down syndrome has been reported by several studies. Down syndrome with cryptorchidism and retroperitoneal mixed germ cell tumours is rare, and yolk sac tumours are often considered secondary components of mixed germ cell tumours. Herein, we present a rare case of retroperitoneal mixed germ cell tumour with cryptorchidism accompanied by yolk sac tumour and seminoma in a patient with Down syndrome, along with its imaging features. Case presentation: A 42-year-old man was admitted to the hospital for 6 months due to a worsening abdominal pain that was followed by syncope for 8 h. There was a significant increase in AFP and β-HCG levels. An enhanced computed tomography (CT) scan of the entire abdomen showed a mixed cystic solid mass in the retroperitoneal space. Fluorine-2-fluoro-2-deoxy-d-glucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography/CT examination showed an abnormal increase in the FDG uptake in the parenchymal part of the mass, with a maximum standardised uptake value of approximately 10.5. The pathological diagnosis was retroperitoneal mixed germ cell tumour (yolk sac tumour + seminoma). One and a half months postoperatively, the tumour recurred. Consequently, the patient underwent chemotherapy, and after one course of treatment, the patient developed bone marrow suppression. Finally, he died due to complications. Conclusions: Yolk sac tumours, the main components of mixed germ cell tumours, are rare in adults and exhibit rapid growth, heightened malignancy, and poor prognoses. CT features play a crucial role in diagnosis. Down syndrome is a high-risk factor for malignant testicular germ cell tumours. Therefore, comprehensive examinations for gonadal and germ cell tumours in patients with Down syndrome are imperative and should be prioritised by clinicians. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Hot working environment not only affects work efficiency, but also poses a potential threat to the physical and mental health of staff. The current common method for dealing with high temperatures is spray-only or ventilation-only. To investigate the impact of different spray and ventilation modes on indoor high-temperature environments, this study examined their effects on indoor environmental parameters, average skin temperature, and psychological indicators. By establishing an experimental platform for high-temperature thermal environments, a spray ventilation cooling system was implemented, and its cooling efficacy in the indoor thermal environment was analyzed. The environmental classification of the high-temperature working environment under experimental conditions is provided based on the experimental data. A comparison and analysis of environmental parameters and physiological and psychological indicators between moderate and high-temperature environments were conducted. The combination of spray and ventilation modes resulted in a 5.3 °C reduction in air temperature, a 24.1% increase in average relative humidity, and a 3.3 °C reduction in average Wet-bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT). The cooling effect was increased by 2.3 °C and the average relative humidity was increased by 10.8% compared to spray-only and ventilation-only modes. In spray and ventilation mode, when the spray volume is increased by 15 mL/min, the air temperature is reduced by 8.2 °C, the average relative humidity is increased by 31.9%, and the average WBGT is reduced by 5.1 °C. This study has guiding significance for finding a reasonable cooling scheme to cope with indoor high-temperature environments.

To investigate the mechanism of flow-induced vibrations in the cooling system of a double crystal monochromator (DCM), this paper utilizes a multi-physics numerical simulation approach, employing ANSYS and FLUENT platforms to simulate the flow state of liquid nitrogen in the cooling system and explore the amplitude response of the DCM. Initially, simulations were conducted to examine the flow state of liquid nitrogen with varying frequency and amplitude pulsations. Subsequently, modal analysis was employed to investigate the amplitude response of the DCM in the pitch direction vibrations under pulsating excitation. Finally, this research investigated the influence of high heat load-induced liquid nitrogen boiling on a DCM. The results indicate that pipe resistance is the fundamental cause of vibration induced by pulsating excitation. Low-frequency excitation enhances the amplification factor of DCM vibration. In contrast, due to the rapid conversion of fluid kinetic energy to pressure potential energy, high-frequency excitation increases the pulsation amplitude in the pipe. Additionally, there is a linear relationship between the amplitude of liquid nitrogen velocity fluctuations and the response amplitude of a DCM. The slug flow formed after liquid nitrogen boiling generates low-frequency pulse signals, and intermittent fluid impacts cause significant vibrations in the DCM. These research findings provide a reference for the analysis and design of ultra-high-stability DCM cooling systems.

The whole life cycle degradation data set of rolling bearings has the characteristics of large capacity, diversity, and non-stationarity. As a powerful tool for processing such time series data in deep learning algorithms, LSTM is prone to the loss of important time series information in the process of the life prediction of rolling bearings, which leads to a decline in prediction accuracy. Therefore, a method for predicting the remaining useful life (RUL) of rolling bearings based on the combination of temporal pattern attention mechanism (TPA) and LSTM is proposed. The method firstly combines hierarchical clustering and principal component analysis (PCA) to construct a multi-faceted and multi-scale preferred feature set reflecting the degradation information of rolling bearings, then strengthens the information correlation between hidden layers of the LSTM model through TPA and optimates the parameters of the fusion model of TPA and LSTM by using the gazelle optimization algorithm (GOA). Finally, the model is applied to the experimental data set of rolling bearing degradation. The results show that, compared with the traditional model, this method is more suitable for the remaining life prediction of rolling bearings.

Colchicine (COL), a widely used natural drug, has potent anti-inflammatory effects; however, as a narrow therapeutic index drug, its clinical application is limited by its serious gastrointestinal adverse effects, and only oral formulations are currently marketed worldwide. Recent studies have shown that transdermal, injection, and oral drug delivery are the three main delivery strategies for COL. This article elaborates on the research progress of different delivery strategies in terms of toxicity reduction and efficacy enhancement, depicting that the transdermal drug delivery route can avoid the first-pass effect and the traumatic pain associated with the oral and injection routes, respectively. Therefore, such a dosage form holds a significant promise that requires the development of further research to investigate effective COL delivery formulations. In addition, the permeation-promoting technologies utilized for transdermal drug delivery systems are briefly discussed. This article is expected to provide scientific ideas and theoretical guidance for future research and the exploration of COL delivery strategies.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection caused the COVID-19 pandemic, impacting the global economy and medical system due to its fast spread and extremely high infectivity. Efficient control of the spread of the disease relies on a fast, accurate, and convenient detection system for the early screening of the infected population. Although reverse transcription–quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) is the gold-standard method for SARS-CoV-2 RNA analysis, it has complex experimental procedures and relies on expensive instruments and professional operators. In this work, we proposed a simple, direct, amplification-free lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) with dual-mode detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA via direct visualization as well as fluorescence detection. The viral RNA was detected by the designed DNA probes to specifically hybridize with the conserved open reading frame 1ab (ORF1ab), envelope protein (E), and nucleocapsid (N) regions of the SARS-CoV-2 genome to form DNA–RNA hybrids. These hybrids were then recognized by the dual-mode gold nanoparticles (DMNPs) to produce two different readout signals. The fluorescence characteristics of different sizes of GNPs were explored. Under the optimized conditions, the LFIA presented a linear detection range of 104–106 TU/mL with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.76, 1.83, and 2.58 × 104 TU/mL for lentiviral particles carrying SARS-CoV-2 ORF1ab, E, and N motifs, respectively, in the fluorescent mode, which was up to 10 times more sensitive than the colorimetric mode. Furthermore, the LFIA exhibited excellent specificity to SARS-CoV-2 in comparison with other respiratory viruses. It could be used to detect SARS-CoV-2 in saliva samples. The developed LFIA represents a promising and convenient point-of-care method for dual-mode, rapid detection of SARS-CoV-2, especially in the periods with high infectivity.

Given the growing demand for increased energy capacity and power density in battery systems, ensuring thermal safety in lithium-ion batteries has become a significant challenge for the coming decade. Effective thermal management plays a crucial role in battery design optimization. Air-cooling temperatures in vehicles often vary from ambient due to internal ventilation, with external air potentially overheating due to vehicle malfunctions. This article highlights the efficiency of lateral side air cooling in battery packs, suggesting a need for further exploration beyond traditional front side methods. In this study, we examine the impact of three different temperature levels and two distinct air-cooling directions on the performance of an air-cooling system. Our results reveal that the air-cooling direction has a more pronounced influence compared with the air-cooling temperature. By employing an optimal air-cooling direction and ambient air-cooling temperature, it is possible to achieve a temperature reduction of approximately 5 K in the battery, which otherwise requires a 10 K decrease in the air-cooling temperature to achieve a similar effect. Therefore, we propose an empirical formula for air-cooling efficiency under various conditions, aiming to provide valuable insights into the factors affecting air-cooling systems for industrial applications toward enhancing the fire safety of battery energy storage systems.

This study analyzes the occurrence and early warning of rainstorm disasters in China. It also analyzes the ways of communication of meteorological early warning information in detail, especially about early warning information of rainstorm disaster. In addition, this study also proposes some strategies for social management. The results show that the frequency of rainstorm disasters in China keeps increasing in recent years, which have caused heavy casualties and economic losses in China. The effective ways to improve the accuracy of early warning information of rainstorm disaster are to strengthen the monitoring capability of rainstorm disaster, conduct more researches of rainstorm, and improve the operational prediction and early warning of rainstorm disaster. Weather situation is the most important meteorological information needed by the public, particularly for the next 3-day. Mobile app has become the most frequently used communication way of meteorological service for the public for the last decade. The public has also paid more attention to obtaining meteorological early warning information through various ways. The rapid release is the key strategy to improve the effective coverage of early warning information. In order to spread the early warning information to the managers at all levels and the public in the shortest time, we must make full use of some new technologies and build an integrated release platform of early warning information based on the "cloud + end" architecture. In this way, the "one click" release and multi-way dissemination of early warning information can be realized. In addition, the monitoring and management of the whole process of early warning can be achieved. Finally, we conclude that the management strategies of early warning information of rainstorm disaster must include information dissemination, timely feedback, and simultaneous emergency actions

To suppress chatter is very important for ensuring processing quality and efficiency in ultrasonic-assisted grinding of thin-walled workpiece of SiCp/Al composites. Based on the chatter mechanism analysis, a stability analysis model is built and the analytical method is proposed. The cutting parameters can be selected reasonably based on the lobe diagram of stability, and the experiments were conducted using the parameters of selected points on lobe diagram. The experimental results show that the cutting force and surface roughness of unstable points are much larger than that of stable points, the vibration marks appear on the workpiece surface with unstable machining, and the surface quality is better in stable machining, which indicate that the chatter could be suppressed by this method to guarantee machining quality and efficiency.

ObjectiveTo describe the characteristics of large vestibular aqueduct syndrome (LVAS) in wideband acoustic immittance (WAI) and to explore whether inner ear deformity has an impact on WAI results.MethodsSubjects with typical LVAS (LVAS group) and control subjects with a normal anatomical structure of the inner ear (control group) were screened from pediatric patients with cochlear implants using thin-slice computed tomography (CT) images of the temporal bone. With inflammation of the auditory canal and middle ear excluded by routine ear examination and 226 Hz acoustic immittance, WAI data were acquired. Then, the maximum absorbance as the major observation indicator on the mean tympanogram was compared between the LVAS group and control group, and a descriptive comparison of the mean tympanogram and frequency-absorbance curve at peak pressure was performed between the two groups.ResultsThe LVAS group included 21 cases (38 ears), and the control group included 27 cases (45 ears). All LVAS subjects met the Valvassori criteria, and the VA at the horizontal semicircular canal displayed flared expansion. On the mean tympanogram, the maximum absorbance in the LVAS group (0.542 ± 0.087) was significantly higher than that in the control group (0.455 ± 0.087) (p < 0.001). The tympanogram in the LVAS group showed an overall elevation, and the absorbance at all pressure sampling points was significantly higher than that in the control group (p < 0.001). The frequency-absorbance curve at peak pressure first increased and then decreased in both groups, and the LVAS group showed higher absorbance than the control group in the frequency range below 2,828 Hz. The absorbance at 343–1,124 Hz was significantly different between the two groups (p < 0.001), and 343–1,124 Hz was the major frequency range at which the maximum absorbance on the mean tympanogram increased in the LVAS group.ConclusionLarge vestibular aqueduct syndrome (LVAS) shows increased absorbance in low and medium frequency ranges in WAI. The maximum absorbance on the mean tympanogram can serve as a reliable evaluation indicator. Inner ear factors must be considered when middle ear lesions are analyzed by WAI.

IntroductionMost previous studies focused on the effects of fathers’ presence on adolescent development, but rarely examined the mechanisms underlying the presence of fathers on adolescent development. Moreover, previous studies ignored the impact of fathers’ way of being present on adolescent interpersonal relationships. Based on social identity theory, the present study introduced adolescents’ social responsibility as a mediating variable to explore the influence of father’s presence style on adolescents’ interpersonal. This study examined the mechanism of fathers’ way of being present on father’s presence, adolescents’ social responsibility, and their quality of interpersonal relationships; if fathers adopt a democratic approach to be present, the study examines whether teenagers are more likely to enhance their sense of social responsibility and achieve harmonious interpersonal relationships.MethodsParticipants were 1,942 senior high school and college students who responded to the Fatherhood Questionnaire, Social Responsibility Questionnaire, and Interpersonal Relationship Quality Diagnosis Scale. This study used PROCESS macro of SPSS 24.0 and Amos 26.0 to examine the hypotheses.ResultsEmpirical results demonstrated that (a) fathers’ presence is directly and positively related to adolescents’ social responsibility, (b) fathers’ presence is indirectly and positively related to the quality of adolescents’ interpersonal relationships through social responsibility, and (c) parenting styles played a moderating role in the first half of the fathers’ presence on social responsibility and the quality of interpersonal relationships. Results demonstrated that more harmonious interpersonal relationships were present among teenagers when fathers adopted a democratic upbringing, and this interaction effect on interpersonal relationships was mediated by teenagers’ sense of social responsibility.DiscussionThe findings of this study enrich the literature by exploring the significance of emphasizing fathers’ democratic presence on teenagers’ sense of social responsibility and interpersonal relationships. The practical implications of this study are that society should encourage more fathers to be present and guide them to adopt a democratic parenting style that will benefit adolescents’ development and family well-being.
