This study investigates the UV degradation of black Chinese lacquer by incorporating carbon black and ferrous hydroxide as additives. The purpose of this research is to understand the effects of these additives on the degradation behavior of the lacquer film. Different concentrations of carbon black powder (1%, 3%, and 5%) and Fe(OH)2 (10%, 20%, and 30%) were added to the lacquer following traditional techniques. The main methods employed for analysis were gloss loss measurement, color change assessment, SEM imaging, FTIR spectroscopy, and XPS analysis. The results demonstrate a significant decrease in gloss levels and an increase in lightness values with increasing ultraviolet exposure time. SEM images reveal the formation of cracks in the lacquer film. FTIR analysis indicates oxidation of the urushiol side chain and an increase in oxidation products. The infrared difference spectrum highlights the differences between the additives, with Fe(OH)2 showing a lower impact on the spectra compared to carbon black. XPS analysis confirms the oxidation of the C-H functional group and the presence of C-O-C and C-OH groups. In conclusion, this study sheds light on the influence of carbon black and ferrous hydroxide additives on the UV degradation of black Chinese lacquer and suggests the protective effect of Fe(OH)2 against UV aging. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the degradation mechanisms and provide insights for improving the UV resistance of Chinese lacquer coatings. Further research can explore alternative additives and optimization strategies to mitigate UV-induced degradation.

Abstract Using the GECROS model, we simulated the effect of improvements in photosynthesis a range of growth parameters, including yield, and on the εc (the conversion efficiency of absorbed solar energy to the chemical energy of biomass) and εi (the efficiency of solar energy interception or absorption by the canopy) parameters of the Monteith crop growth equation, for wheat and potato (which use C3 photosynthesis) and maize (which uses C4 photosynthesis). In the case of the C3 crops, the improvements in photosynthesis were via 20% increases in the parameters Vcmax (carboxylation capacity of Rubisco), Jmax (electron transport capacity), Sc/o (Rubisco specificity), κ2LL (efficiency of converting incident light into electron transport) and gm (mesophyll conductance), while for the C4 crop, it was via 20% increase in Vcmax, Jmax and Sc/o and a 20% decrease in gbs (the conductance that controls the leak of CO2 from the bundle sheath cells in C4 leaves). The changes were applied individually and in combination. The responses were modelled using climate data collected over a 10‐year period from 66 sites around Europe. Improvements in photosynthesis did result in increases in yield but with considerable variation between the parameters that were adjusted. The greatest increases were obtained for increases in Jmax and κ2LL (up to an average 11% increase for total plant biomass), and these increases were found across all Europe. Increases in both these parameters have a predominant effect on the light‐use efficiency for subsaturating irradiances. Improvements in the other parameters produced smaller increases.

Abstract The growing world population and global increases in the standard of living both result in an increasing demand for food, feed and other plant‐derived products. In the coming years, plant‐based research will be among the major drivers ensuring food security and the expansion of the bio‐based economy. Crop productivity is determined by several factors, including the available physical and agricultural resources, crop management, and the resource use efficiency, quality and intrinsic yield potential of the chosen crop. This review focuses on intrinsic yield potential, since understanding its determinants and their biological basis will allow to maximize the plant's potential in food and energy production. Yield potential is determined by a variety of complex traits that integrate strictly regulated processes and their underlying gene regulatory networks. Due to this inherent complexity, numerous potential targets have been identified that could be exploited to increase crop yield. These encompass diverse metabolic and physical processes at the cellular, organ and canopy level. We present an overview of some of the distinct biological processes considered to be crucial for yield determination that could further be exploited to improve future crop productivity.

As an important factor affecting the edible quality of peanut kernels, sucrose content is a complex quantitative trait regulated by multiple factors. In this study, an F2 segregating population and a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population, derived from a cross between the high sucrose content variety Jihuatian 1 and the low sucrose content line PI478819, were used as materials to map a quantitative trait locus (QTL) associated with sucrose content in peanut kernels. Four QTLs were initially located on chromosomes A03 and A06 based on BSA-seq technology, and multiple kompetitive allele-specific PCR markers were developed based on single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the intervals. The markers were genotyped in the RIL population and finely mapped to a stable QTL, qSUCA06, located on chromosome A06 within a 0.29-Mb physical genomic interval (112367085–112662675 bp), which accounted for 31.95%–41.05% of the phenotypic variance explained. SNP and insertion/deletion annotations were performed on genes in the candidate interval, and having screened out those genes with mutations in exons, candidate genes were verified by qRT-PCR. The results revealed that Arahy.Y2LWD9 may be the main gene regulating sucrose content. The QTL identified in this study will not only contribute to marker-assisted breeding for improvement of peanut sucrose content but also paves the way for identifying gene function.

Abstract Background Studies have shown that the decrease of osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) is an important mechanism of osteoporosis. The object of this study was to explore the role and mechanism of microRNA miR-425-5p in the differentiation of MSC. Methods The expression of miR-425-5p in MSC was detected by quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Cell proliferation, cell cycle and apoptosis were detected by CCK-8 colorimetry and flow cytometry. The expression of TNF were detected by ELISA. Results Our data show that MiR-425-5p could modulate TNF-induced cell apoptosis, proliferation, and differentiation. ANXA2 is also the target of miR-425-5p and ANXA2 was involved in TNF-induced MSC cell apoptosis, proliferation, and differentiation. In addition, MiR-425-5p enhanced osteoporosis in mice. Conclusion MiR-425-5p might serve as a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of osteoporosis.

[Purpose/Significance] Based on the investigation of scientific data literacy ability of domestic graduate students, this paper constructs the scientific data literacy ability training system of university libraries, so as to provide targeted suggestions for university libraries to carry out scientific data literacy education. [Method/Process] Based on the data literacy evaluation research, a questionnaire was designed, and graduate students s of Jiangnan University were taken as the sample. [Results/Conclusions] The research shows that the data consciousness and data ethics of postgraduates in domestic universities are showing an optimistic trend. But students' ability of data collection, data organization and management, data utilization and preservation need to be improved, especially the data analysis capabilities need to be urgently strengthened. Based on this, this paper constructs a training system in accordance with the current situation of scientific data literacy of university graduates from four aspects of training objectives, contents, methods and evaluation.

Immunoglobulin (Ig) M is an important immune effector that protects organisms from a wide variety of pathogens. However, little is known about the immune response of gut mucosal IgM during bacterial invasion. Here, we generated polyclonal antibodies against common carp IgM and developed a model of carp infection with Aeromonas hydrophila via intraperitoneal injection. Our findings indicated that both innate and adaptive immune responses were effectively elicited after A. hydrophila infection. Upon bacterial infection, IgM+ B cells were strongly induced in the gut and head kidney, and bacteria-specific IgM responses were detected in high levels both in the gut mucus and serum. Moreover, our results suggested that IgM responses may vary in different infection strategies. Overall, our findings revealed that the infected common carp exhibited high resistance to this representative enteropathogenic bacterium upon reinfection, suggesting that IgM plays a key role in the defense mechanisms of the gut against bacterial invasion. Significantly, the second injection of A. hydrophila induces strong local mucosal immunity in the gut, which is essential for protection against intestinal pathogens, providing reasonable insights for vaccine preparation.

Gastric-type mucinous endocervical adenocarcinomas (GAS) are new variant types of cervical adenocarcinomas according to the 2014 World Health Organization (WHO) classification. GAS is a unique disease that can be differentiated from typical adenocarcinomas—it is less common and more aggressive and likely to have deep invasion and horizontal diffusion, invasion of the uterus and vagina, early distant metastases, and a lower 5-year survival rate compared to the usual-type cervical cancer. At present, initial treatment and postoperative adjuvant therapy are not conclusive, but early detection and early treatment are a consensus that can improve prognosis. Most of its occurrence has nothing to do with human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. Whether it is only negative for the subtypes that can be detected at present and whether it may be an unknown subtype of infection need to be further explored in the future. The clinical symptoms commonly include aqueous secretion, lower abdominal pain, and elevated serum carbohydrate antigen-19-9 (CA19-9) levels, which may be helpful for diagnosis. MRI and PET-CT can help to describe the characteristics of lesions and judge the state of the systemic metastasis. We believe that early detection and surgical treatment will give patients more benefits. Looking for potential gene and molecular changes and establishing biomarkers to identify molecular targets will be the key to early identification and target therapy.

Pod size is one of the most important agronomic features of peanuts, which directly affects peanut yield. Studies on the regulation mechanism underpinning pod size in cultivated peanuts remain hitherto limited compared to model plant systems. To better understand the molecular elements that underpin peanut pod development, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of chronological transcriptomics during pod development in four peanut accessions with similar genetic backgrounds, but varying pod sizes. Several plant transcription factors, phytohormones, and the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathways were significantly enriched among differentially expressed genes (DEGs) at five consecutive developmental stages, revealing an eclectic range of candidate genes, including PNC, YUC, and IAA that regulate auxin synthesis and metabolism, CYCD and CYCU that regulate cell differentiation and proliferation, and GASA that regulates seed size and pod elongation via gibberellin pathway. It is plausible that MPK3 promotes integument cell division and regulates mitotic activity through phosphorylation, and the interactions between these genes form a network of molecular pathways that affect peanut pod size. Furthermore, two variant sites, GCP4 and RPPL1, were identified which are stable at the QTL interval for seed size attributes and function in plant cell tissue microtubule nucleation. These findings may facilitate the identification of candidate genes that regulate pod size and impart yield improvement in cultivated peanuts.

Ureaplasma spp. and Mycoplasma hominis, frequent colonizers in the lower urogenital tract, have been implicated in various infections, with antibiotic resistance growing and varying regionally. This study aims to investigate the prevalence and antibiotic resistance profiles of Ureaplasma spp. and M. hominis in outpatients in Hangzhou, China, from 2013 to 2019. A total of 135,263 outpatients were examined to determine the prevalence of Ureaplasma spp. and M. hominis, including 48,638 males and 86,625 females. Furthermore, trends in antibiotic susceptibility of Ureaplasma spp. and M. hominis during 1999–2019 were analyzed. The cultivation, identification, and antibiotic susceptibility of the bacteria (ofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, erythromycin, clarithromycin, azithromycin, josamycin, tetracycline, doxycycline, and pristinamycin) were determined using the Mycoplasma IST2 kit. Our study indicated that the overall prevalence of total Ureaplasma spp./M. hominis was 38.1% from 2013 to 2019. Ureaplasma spp. were the most frequently isolated species (overall prevalence, 31.3%), followed by Ureaplasma spp./M. hominis coinfection (6.0%) and single M. hominis infection (0.8%). The prevalence of Ureaplasma spp. and M. hominis was significantly higher in females than in males, and the highest positive rates of total Ureaplasma spp./M. hominis were observed in both female and male outpatients aged 14–20 years. During 2013–2019, josamycin, tetracycline, doxycycline, and pristinamycin maintained exceptionally high activity (overall resistance rates, 70%). During 1999–2019, the rates of resistance to ofloxacin and ciprofloxacin increased against both Ureaplasma spp. and M. hominis but decreased to erythromycin, clarithromycin, azithromycin, tetracycline, and doxycycline against Ureaplasma spp. In conclusion, our study demonstrates a high prevalence of Ureaplasma spp. compared to M. hominis and Ureaplasma spp./M. hominis, and their distribution was associated with sex and age. Josamycin, doxycycline, and tetracycline are promising antibiotics that have remarkable activity against Ureaplasma species and M. hominis.
