Fault detection and isolation in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) propellers are critical for operational safety and efficiency. Most existing fault diagnosis techniques rely basically on traditional statistical-based methods that necessitate better approaches. This study explores the application of untraditional feature extraction methodologies, namely Permutation Entropy (PE), Lempel–Ziv Complexity (LZC), and Teager–Kaiser Energy Operator (TKEO), on the PADRE dataset, which encapsulates various rotor fault configurations. The extracted features were subjected to a Chi-Square (χ2) feature selection process to identify the most significant features for input into a Deep Neural Network. The Taguchi method was utilized to test the performance of the recorded features, correspondingly. Performance metrics, including Accuracy, F1-Score, Precision, and Recall, were employed to evaluate the model’s effectiveness before and after the feature selection. The achieved accuracy has increased by 0.9% when compared with results utilizing traditional statistical methods. Comparative analysis with prior research reveals that the proposed untraditional features surpass traditional methods in diagnosing UAV propeller faults. It resulted in improved performance metrics with Accuracy, F1-Score, Precision, and Recall reaching 99.6%, 99.5%, 99.5%, and 99.5%, respectively. Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common and aggressive type of liver cancer. Most chemotherapeutic medications nowadays imply oxidative stress leading to toxicity, which causes the necessity to find agents with better safety profiles against normal cells in addition to their anticancer activity. Sitagliptin has been shown to possess antioxidant as well as apoptotic properties by the specific suppression of dipeptidyl-peptidase 4, a glycoprotein produced in many tissues that have been thought to promote tumorigenesis and metastasis. Methods: Five groups of cell lines were included: Control (untreated HepG2 cells); cisplatin treatment HepG2 cells; sitagliptin treated HepG2 cells; combination of different concentrations of cisplatin plus sitagliptin (250 μg/mL) treated HepG2 cells, and finally, combination of different concentrations of sitagliptin plus cisplatin (25 μg/mL)-treated HepG2 cells. After an incubation period for 48 hours, the supernatants were collected to quantify the level malondialdehyde (MDA) and B-cell lymphoma-2 (BCL-2) by ELISA assay kits. Data were finally gathered and analyzed statistically. Results: Our findings indicated that sitagliptin significantly decreased the oxidative stress, particularly at high concentrations, through decreasing the MDA level. In addition, sitagliptin exhibited significant apoptotic activity against HepG2 cells through decreasing BCL-2 level. In combination with cisplatin, sitagliptin significantly potentiated the apoptotic effect and reduced the oxidative stress parameters. Conclusions: Sitagliptin showed apoptotic and antioxidant activity against HCC which may potentiate chemotherapeutic agents like cisplatin, in addition to reducing the oxidative stress against normal cells.

Advanced driver assistance systems (ADASs) have recently gained popularity as they assist vehicle operators in staying within safe boundaries, helping them thereby to prevent possible collisions. However, despite their success and development, most ADAS use common and deterministic warning thresholds for all drivers in all driving environments. This may occasionally lead to the issuance of annoying inadequate warnings, due to the possible differences between drivers, the changing environments and driver statuses, thus reducing their acceptance and effectiveness. To fill this gap, this paper proposes adaptive algorithms for commonly used warnings based on real-time traffic environments and driver status including distraction and fatigue. We proposed adaptive algorithms for headway monitoring, illegal overtaking, over-speeding, and fatigue. The algorithms were then tested using a driving simulator. Results showed that the proposed adaptive headway warning algorithm was able to automatically update the headway warning thresholds and that, overall, the proposed algorithms provided the expected warnings. In particular, three or four different warning types were designed to distinguish different risk levels. The designed real-time intervention algorithms can be implemented in ADAS to provide warnings and interventions tailored to the driver status to further ensure driving safety.

Simultaneous in situ measurements of coronal mass ejections (CMEs), including both plasma and magnetic field, by two spacecraft in radial alignment have been extremely rare. Here, we report on one such CME measured by Solar Orbiter (SolO) and Wind on 2021 November 3–5, while the spacecraft were radially separated by a heliocentric distance of 0.13 au and angularly by only 2.2°. We focus on the magnetic cloud (MC) part of the CME. We find notable changes in the R and N magnetic field components and in the speed profiles inside the MC between SolO and Wind. We observe a greater speed at the spacecraft farther away from the Sun without any clear compression signatures. Since the spacecraft are close to each other and computing fast magnetosonic wave speed inside the MC, we rule out temporal evolution as the reason for the observed differences, suggesting that spatial variations over 2.2° of the MC structure are at the heart of the observed discrepancies. Moreover, using shock properties at SolO, we forecast an arrival time 2 hr 30 minutes too late for a shock that is just 5 hr 31 minutes away from Wind. Predicting the north–south component of the magnetic field at Wind from SolO measurements leads to a relative error of 55%. These results show that even angular separations as low as 2.2° (or 0.03 au in arc length) between spacecraft can have a large impact on the observed CME properties, which raises the issue of the resolutions of current CME models, potentially affecting our forecasting capabilities.

Coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are large-scale eruptions with a typical radial size at 1 au of 0.21 au but their angular width in interplanetary space is still mostly unknown, especially for the magnetic ejecta (ME) part of the CME. We take advantage of STEREO-A angular separation of 20°–60° from the Sun–Earth line from 2020 October to 2022 August, and perform a two-part study to constrain the angular width of MEs in the ecliptic plane: (a) we study all CMEs that are observed remotely to propagate between the Sun–STEREO-A and the Sun–Earth lines and determine how many impact one or both spacecraft in situ, and (b) we investigate all in situ measurements at STEREO-A or at L1 of CMEs during the same time period to quantify how many are measured by the two spacecraft. A key finding is that out of 21 CMEs propagating within 30° of either spacecraft only four impacted both spacecraft and none provided clean magnetic cloud-like signatures at both spacecraft. Combining the two approaches, we conclude that the typical angular width of an ME at 1 au is ∼20°–30°, or 2–3 times less than often assumed and consistent with a 2:1 elliptical cross section of an ellipsoidal ME. We discuss the consequences of this finding for future multi-spacecraft mission designs and for the coherence of CMEs.

Background/Aims: Radiation proctitis (RP), a well-known complication of pelvic radiation therapy, may lead to recurrent hospitalizations. We aimed to assess readmissions of RP in the United States. Methods: We analyzed the Nationwide Readmission Database from 2016 to 2020 to identify all 30-, 60-, and 90-day readmissions of RP in the United States. Hospitalization characteristics, predictors, clinical outcomes, and healthcare burdens were assessed. Results: From 2016 to 2020, we noted a declining trend of 30-, 60-, and 90-day readmissions of RP in the US. However, the all-cause 30-, 60-, and 90-day readmission rates of RP were still high at 13.7%, 19.4%, and 23.16%, respectively. On readmission, RP was identified as the admitting diagnosis in only 20.61%, 17.87%, and 15.76% of 30-, 60-, and 90-day readmissions, respectively. The mean age for all readmissions was 70 years with a significant male dominance. Lower endoscopy at index admission reduced the risk of readmissions within 90 days, but this was not statistically significant. However, the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) score was an independent predictor of all readmissions. Furthermore, the mean length of stay was 5.57 (95% CI 5.15–6), 5.50 (95% CI 5.12–5.89), and 5.47 (95% CI 5.07–5.87) days and the mean hospitalization charge was USD 60,451 (95% CI USD 54,728–66,174), USD 62,671 (95% CI USD 57,326–68,015), and USD 62,144 (95% CI USD 57,144–67,144) for 30-, 60-, and 90-day readmissions. The all-cause inpatient mortality for 30-, 60-, and 90-day readmissions was 3.58%, 3.89%, and 3.46%, respectively. Conclusions: RP readmissions are a significant healthcare burden. Further efforts must be directed toward improving management strategies to reduce readmission rates.

Graduation rates and degree completion have always been a concern for students, students' families and universities. Moreover, many consider college degree completion rates to be among one of the most important indicators of institutional quality according to a report from the Higher Education Research Institute published in the United States of America. This research studied factors that can explain graduation rates which include student-faculty ratio, financial factors, and enrollment status. Data was collected and analyzed for state and private universities, and a Multiple Regression Model (MLR) was built to forecast graduation rates. The model was able to highlight variables that significantly relate to graduation rates. Researchers can use this article to understand the different factors that correlate with degree completion and to forecast graduations rates at Higher Education Institutions. The international researcher can explore replicating the forecasting model at universities outside the United States of America.

The incidental detection of pancreatic cysts, an opportunity for the early detection of pancreatic cancer, is increasing, owing to an aging population and improvements in imaging technology. The classification of pancreatic cystic precursors currently relies on imaging and cyst fluid evaluations, including cytology and protein and genomic analyses. However, there are persistent limitations that obstruct the accuracy and quality of information for clinicians, including the limited volume of the complex, often acellular, and proteinaceous milieu that comprises pancreatic cyst fluid. The constraints of currently available clinical assays lead clinicians to the subjective and inconsistent application of diagnostic tools, which can contribute to unnecessary surgery and missed pancreatic cancers. Herein, we describe the pathway toward pancreatic cyst classification and diagnosis, the volume requirements for several clinically available diagnostic tools, and some analytical and diagnostic limitations for each assay. We then discuss current and future work on novel markers and methods, and how to expand the utility of clinical pancreatic cyst fluid samples. Results of ongoing studies applying SERS as a detection mode suggest that 50 µL of pancreatic cyst fluid is more than sufficient to accurately rule out non-mucinous pancreatic cysts with no malignant potential from further evaluation. This process is expected to leave sufficient fluid to analyze a follow-up, rule-in panel of markers currently in development that can stratify grades of dysplasia in mucinous pancreatic cysts and improve clinical decision-making.

Acrodermatitis dysmetabolica (AD) describes eruptions characterized by the clinical triad of acral dermatitis, diarrhea, and alopecia. AD can be caused by various metabolic disorders one of which is maple syrup urine disease (MSUD). We present a 2-month-old boy diagnosed with MSUD by the age of 5 days and treated with branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) restricted diet, BCAAs formula, and thiamine supplementation. He was referred to dermatology with a 3-week history of diarrhea, progressive acrodermatitis enteropathica like cutaneous eruption and hair loss over the scalp treated with topical mometasone ointment, isoleucine supplementation and leucine restriction. Complete resolution of skin eruption was achieved by 4 weeks, which correlates with normalization of BCAA levels based on close monitoring of biochemical lab values and growth. This case emphasizes the dangers of limiting BCAA intake when treating MSUD, as well as the importance of close monitoring during the amino acid depleting period of growth.

A new approach for baud time (or baud rate) estimation of a random binary signal is presented. This approach utilizes the spectrum of the signal after nonlinear processing in a way that the estimation error can be reduced by simply increasing the number of the processed samples instead of increasing the sampling rate. The spectrum of the new signal is shown to give an accurate estimate about the baud time when there is no apriory information or any restricting preassumptions. The performance of the estimator for random binary square waves perturbed by white Gaussian noise and ISI is evaluated and compared with that of the conventional estimator of the zero crossing detector.

The traditional technique of generating MPSK signals is basically to use IQ modulator that involves analog processing like multiplication and addition where inaccuracies may exist and would lead to imbalance problems that affects the output modulated signal and hence the overall performance of the system. In this paper, a simple method is presented for generating the MPSK using logic circuits that basically generated M-carrier signals each carrier of different equally spaced phase shift. Then these carriers are time multiplexed, according to the data symbols, into the output modulated signal.

The vaginal contraceptive ring is very effective and user dependent. In this article, we will discuss the different types of vaginal contraceptive rings, namely, the etonogestrel/ethinyl estradiol (ENG/EE) ring (NuvaRing, Merck, Rahway, NJ, USA) and the segesterone acetate (SA)/EE (Annovera, Mayne Pharma, Raleigh, NC, USA) ring. The details of dosing and administration, indications, advantages, disadvantages, and cost-effectiveness are presented. This literature review was conducted using PubMed and Google Scholar. The search terms included ‘vaginal contraceptive ring’, ‘etonogestrel/ethinyl estradiol ring’, and ‘segesterone acetate/ethinyl estradiol ring’. The search was then sorted by year from 2000 until present, and the most recent articles were reviewed. The purpose of this article is to provide a comprehensive reference on the two vaginal contraceptive rings widely used in the United States for clinicians to guide management. Both vaginal contraceptive rings are combination of hormonal contraceptives that suppress ovulation and create physiologic conditions unfavorable for pregnancy. The ENG/EE ring is designed to be replaced monthly, while the SA/EE ring is a single device used over the course of 1 year. Common side effects of both devices include headaches, nausea, vomiting, and vaginitis. Serious adverse reactions can occur with the vaginal contraceptive rings including venous thromboembolism, psychiatric events, and hypersensitivity. Both devices are contraindicated in patients at high risk for arterial or venous thrombotic events, patients with a history of breast cancer or other estrogen/progesterone cancers, and patients with severe liver disease. Overall, the vaginal contraceptive ring is well tolerated and liked by patients. Patients should be well counseled on known severe adverse reactions. The vaginal contraceptive ring is more expensive than other forms of contraception and this should be an important point of discussion with patients.

Leaching scheduling techniques are one of the suggested solutions for water scarcity problems .The aim of the study is to show the possibility of using leaching scheduling, when applying the irrigation scheduling program for a certain irrigation project, which was prepare by Water Resources Engineering –University of Baghdad with some modifications to generalized it and it make applicable to various climatic zone and different soil types. The objectives of this research is to build a system that concerns the prediction of the leaching scheduling (depth and date of leaching water), illustrating the main problems (soil salinity, save the amount of leaching requirement, and to maintain crops growth).The other objective is to compare between the calculated amount of leaching water with the amount of water that is suggested by designers. The program includes, the calculating of predicted daily soil salinity ,the depth of leaching water that should be applied to remove the salt from the soil when it reaches a harmful level, and the total annual volume of leaching water. The results showed, that the use of predicted leaching scheduling with its applicable constrains require high attention when choosing the cropping pattern for each climate zone. Also, it was found that the leaching program is a useful tool for saving irrigation water if cropping pattern has been adapted carefully. This means the leaching water depth should be added only when needed, and may not be necessary with each irrigation event.

The problem of the high peak to average ratio (PAPR) in OFDM signals is investigated with a brief presentation of the various methods used to reduce the PAPR with special attention to the clipping method. An alternative approach of clipping is presented, where the clipping is performed right after the IFFT stage unlike the conventional clipping that is performed in the power amplifier stage, which causes undesirable out of signal band spectral growth. In the proposed method, there is clipping of samples not clipping of wave, therefore, the spectral distortion is avoided. Coding is required to correct the errors introduced by the clipping and the overall system is tested for two types of modulations, the QPSK as a constant amplitude modulation and 16QAM as a varying amplitude modulation.

Free-electron lasers provide a source of x-ray pulses short enough and intense enough to drive nonlinearities in molecular systems. Impulsive interactions driven by these x-ray pulses provide a way to create and probe valence electron motions with high temporal and spatial resolution. Observing these electronic motions is crucial to understand the role of electronic coherence in chemical processes. A simple nonlinear technique for probing electronic motion, impulsive stimulated x-ray Raman scattering (ISXRS), involves a single impulsive interaction to produce a coherent superposition of electronic states. We demonstrate electronic population transfer via ISXRS using broad bandwidth (5.5 eV full width at half maximum) attosecond x-ray pulses produced by the Linac Coherent Light Source. The impulsive excitation is resonantly enhanced by the oxygen 1s→2π^{*} resonance of nitric oxide (NO), and excited state neutral molecules are probed with a time-delayed UV laser pulse.

Previous single-pulse extreme ultraviolet and x-ray coherent diffraction studies revealed that superfluid He4 droplets obtained in a free jet expansion acquire sizable angular momentum, resulting in significant centrifugal distortion. Similar experiments with normal fluid He3 droplets may help elucidate the origin of the large degree of rotational excitation and highlight similarities and differences of dynamics in normal and superfluid droplets. Here, we present a comparison of the shapes of isolated He3 and He4 droplets following expansion of the corresponding fluids in vacuum at temperatures as low as ∼2 K. Large He3 and He4 droplets with average radii of ∼160 and ∼350 nm, respectively, were produced. We find that the majority of the shapes of He3 droplets in the beam correspond to rotating oblate spheroids, in agreement with previous observations for He4 droplets. The aspect ratio of the droplets is related to the degree of their rotational excitation, which is discussed in terms of reduced angular momenta (Λ) and reduced angular velocities (ω), the average values of which are found to be similar in both isotopes. This similarity suggests that comparable mechanisms induce rotation regardless of the isotope. We hypothesize that the observed distribution of droplet sizes and angular momenta originates from processes in the dense region close to the nozzle, where a significant velocity spread and frequent collisions between droplets induces excessive rotation followed by droplet fission.

Methods We conducted a retrospective study of the Nationwide Readmissions Database to identify adult hospitalizations with a principal diagnosis of CDE for 2018. Individuals

Sustainability includes social, economic, and ecological responsibilities. The worldwide concern about sustainability is increasing, especially for those issues related to the ecological domain. Any organization wishing to survive and sustain its business should consider sustainability pillars within daily activities. Therefore, this study is directed to investigate how consumers’ identification, involvement, and commitment to sustainability affect entrepreneurship. This paper uses a quantitative cross-sectional method to collect the data from 400 respondents in Jordan. The results show a correlation between consumers’ level of involvement, identification, commitment, and sustainability components (economy-driven venture, society-driven venture, and ecology-driven venture). Moreover, commitment has the highest effect on customers’ intentions and behavior; identification has the second highest effect, while involvement does not significantly affect both customers’ intentions and behavior. The study recommends that all organizations, whatever they do and wherever they conduct their business, should consider sustainability pillars within their strategies and daily practices. The sustainability-driven ventures should not only attract the required customer segmentation via social media, but also enhance, strengthen, and engage their sense of identification, commitment, and belonging.

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy probes the chemical environment in a molecule at a specific atomic site. Here the authors extend this concept with a site selective trigger to follow chemical bond changes as they occur on the femtosecond time scale.
