Textron reported $2.86 billion for the quarter of 2005, while its earnings were $1 a share, up from the company's guidance of 85 to 95 cents. The company revealed that improved performance by Textron's Bell, Cessna and Textron Financial units helped offset problems elsewhere in the company and resulted in a 12.3 percent gain in revenues for the period.

The Czech Defense ministry which was against the sale of state-owned Czech aircraft producer Aero Vodochody has changed its position after consulting with colleagues in other ministries. The privatization of Aero was kicked off by the Czech government in 2005 following Boeing's withdrawal of its controlling interest in the debt-laden aircraft producer in late 2004.

The merger of the Aeronautical Systems and Reconnaissance Systems units of General Atomics Company indicates the company's ability to provide a systems solution for persistent situational awareness, said a company official in June 2005. The Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) business group and the Maritime Systems & Sensors (MS2) Marine Systems group, both of the Lockheed Martin Corporation is going to be combined together to form a new business unit known as the Littoral Ships & Systems. Fred Moosally, president of Lockheed Martin MS2 on 15 July 2004 stated that the headquarters of this unit will start in Washington D.C. and would be moved to Baltimore.

Lockheed Martin's Maritime Domain Awareness Center (MDAC) focuses on the integration of C4ISR capabilities in the United States Coast Guard's Deepwater recapitalization program. The MDAC plans to test C4ISR for unmanned aerial vehicles, Maritime Patrol Aircraft, Medium Endurance Cutters, Fast Response Cutters, National Security Cutters, Offshore Patrol Boats and shore communications master stations.

The European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company has established a Russian subsidiary to promote cooperation with RussiaEs aerospace industry. Increasing the amount of Airbus subcontracting work performed by Russian companies, marketing the Russian Be-200 seaplane and cooperating with Russia in new space vehicle engine and re-entry technologies are the main objectives of the new company, reports the author.
