Abstract Background Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) is a common public health issue affecting many women of reproductive age worldwide. This study has been designed to investigate of computer-based stress inoculation training (SIT) counseling approach on anxiety, depression, and stress of university students with PMS. Methods A randomized trial study with two parallel arms was done from 30 October 2022 to 21 June 2023 on 100 university students aged 18 to 38 at Babol University of Medical Sciences. The participants were randomly divided into two groups intervention and control. The data collection tools included questionnaires on demographic-fertility characteristics, the Premenstrual Symptoms Screening Tool (PSST), the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-14), the Sheehan Disability Scale (SDS) and Riff’s Psychological Well-being Scale (RPWS). The transtibial Prosthetic Socket serves as the primary connection between the residual limb of an amputee and the prosthesis. The socket must provide a secure and stable base for the amputee to bear their body weight and move around comfortably. Topological optimization is a process that aims to improve the mechanical properties of the prosthetic socket. It involves designing a structure that minimizes stress concentrations and maximizes strength while using the least amount of material. The objective of this study is to improve the parametric design of the transtibial socket prosthesis through topology optimization and determine the stress performance of 3D-printed transtibial sockets using static structural analysis. The method used is Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations of forces onto the socket during phases of walking on different topology-optimized socket designs and using the same material, which is ABS. Furthermore, the results were analyzed through static structural analysis using ANSYS software. The analysis revealed that a reduction in the weight of the model correlates with an increase in stress thus may contribute to material fatigue and reducing long term performance.

There is a lot of promise for the creation of briquettes made of wood dust, rice husks, and cow menure as alternative fuels. The Water Content (%) and Ash Content (%) will be measured in this study. Carbon Ratio (%) Value Calorific (cal/g) Briquettes' percentage of volatile content and their (gram/cm2) compressive strength. A financial feasibility analysis of briquettes was also conducted as part of this study. Sample 1 briquettes had a water content of 16%, whereas sample 2 briquettes had a water content of 12%. Because the results of this water content test range between 5% and 20%, they are still considered acceptable. According to the test results, sample 1 had an ash level of 33% and sample 2 had an ash value of 29%. According to test results, there were 65% and 60% of flying chemicals in sample 1 and sample 2, respectively. The quality of the briquettes increases with decreasing volatile matter content. From the test results, sample 1 of the briquettes has a carbon level of 2%, whereas sample 2 has an 11% carbon content. Because carbon concentration affects the calorific value, it is a measure of fuel quality. Sample 1's briquette density is 0.539 g/cm3, whereas Sample 2's briquette density is 0,337 g/cm3. Briquettes for sample 1 have a compressive strength of 13,26 g/cm2, whereas sample 2 has a compressive strength of 15,3 g/cm2. Overall, the briquettes' financial feasibility study is really promising, with a favorable net present value (NPV) of 144.074.566, a high internal rate of return (IRR) of 72,154%, a respectable Net B/C of 4,37, and a comparatively short payback period (PBP) of 3,22 years. This indicates the value of continuing this project. It is believed that by using these briquettes, the amount of deforestation would decline and the dependence on firewood will decrease. We may protect biodiversity and ecosystems by protecting forests.

In this paper, a new synchronous rectified converter with ultra-low output current ripple and high voltage attenuation is proposed. The presented converter can achieve soft switching without requiring any additional active components, leading to high efficiency while maintaining the simplicity of conventional converters. Other main features of the proposed circuit are inherent shoot-through protection, reduced current stress of the semiconductors due to the coupled inductor, and low voltage stress across the low-side MOSFET. In addition, a pulse frequency modulation control scheme is used, which allows for an extended soft-switching range without imposing an excessive circulating current at light loads. The steady-state analysis and experimental results from a 120 W prototype are presented in this paper.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are emerging and have been globally incorporated in wide range of technologies for various purposes due to its advantages over conventional techniques. Nonetheless, the strength of its application areas varies globally. The aim of this paper is to systematically review the literature to provide pertinent information on UAVs’ applications among the association of southeast Asian nations (ASEAN) countries by reviewing 179 documents published from 2012 to the end of 2023. Besides, we also investigated the current state of the relevant policies and regulations among member states. The results of the research demonstrate the state of UAV adoption, application areas, popularity among member states, key aspects that are main drivers for the adoption of UAV technology in the region, and a comparison of UAV policy usage among member states. In particular, the reviewed documents highlighted 12 distinct application areas and 4 major aspects making UAV technology attractive to the region, including geographical, climatic and environmental, ecosystem conservation, and economic factors.

The troublesome contradiction between science and religion, which originated during the Renaissance and was introduced to Indonesia during the colonial era, marked the beginning of the formation of scientific integration. The answer proposed by several colleges is the merger of science and religion in the realm of education. It is envisioned that scientific viewpoints would no longer be independent and open as a result of scientific integration. The purpose of this research is to learn about the idea and execution of Islam and science integration at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. This study employs a descriptive qualitative methodology in conjunction with a library research strategy. According to the findings of the study, the notion of Islam and science integration at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta is an interconnected integration strategy espoused by Amin Abdullah in the concept of scientific integration Spider's Web. The implementation has reached the level of systematic integrative scientific development, beginning with the philosophical level and progressing to the operational level of curriculum preparation and learning processes, or the strategic level.

Abstract Background The coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 pandemic has affected many aspects of life, including pregnancy, childbirth, and safe motherhood so that pregnancy and childbirth take place in completely novel and unusual conditions for people. Therefore, we aimed to determine the opportunities, threats, and needs of pregnant women during a crisis. Methods The present qualitative study was conducted among women who had a history of pregnancy and childbirth during the COVID-19 pandemic period in 2022. The data were collected by conducting face-to-face, semi-structured and in-depth interviews with 20 purposefully selected participants. Interviews continued until data saturation was attained. Data were analyzed through conventional qualitative content analysis based on the Graneheim and Lundman approach. Results The data were categorized under three main themes: 1(“Opportunities for safe motherhood in crisis“(2 Sub‑themes), 2) “Threats to safe motherhood in crisis“(2 Sub‑themes), and 3) “Needs for safe motherhood in crisis” (3 Sub‑themes). Conclusions Crisis is not always a threat. By developing an awareness of the opportunities, threats, and needs that safe motherhood faced during the COVID-19 crisis, policy makers can identify the existing gaps affecting the health of mothers and take the necessary measures to improve their conditions, experiences, and health in further crises.

Abstract Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have shown a significant increase in power conversion efficiency (PCE) under laboratory circumstances from 2006 to the present, rising from 3.8% to an astonishing 25%. This scientific breakthrough corresponds to the changing energy situation and rising industrial potential. The flexible perovskite solar cell (FPSC), which capitalizes on the benefits of perovskite thin-film deposition and operates at low temperatures, is key to this transition. The FPSC is strategically important for large-scale deployment and mass manufacturing, especially when combined with the benefits of perovskite thin-film deposition under moderate thermodynamic conditions. Its versatility is demonstrated by the ease with which it may be folded, rolled, or coiled over flexible substrates, allowing for efficient transportation. Notably, FPSCs outperform traditional solar panels in terms of adaptability. FPSCs have several advantages over rigid substrates, including mobility, lightweight properties that help transportation, scalability via roll-to-roll (R2R) deposition, and incorporation into textiles and architecture. This in-depth examination dives into their fundamental design and various fabrication techniques, which include conducting substrates, absorber layers, coordinated charge movement, and conductive electrodes. This review evaluates critical FPSC fabrication techniques such as thermal evaporation, R2R approaches, slot die and spray deposition, blade coating, and spin coating. The present challenges in constructing FPSCs with high performance and long-term stability are also highlighted. Finally, the solar industry's potential uses for both indoor and outdoor FPSCs have been discussed.

Abstract Background Paget's disease is a metabolic disorder characterized by disorderly bone remodeling process of excessive osteoclastic and osteoblastic activities leading to a structurally disorganized appearance of the bone. Paget's disease is usually diagnosed based on the clinical presentation of bony pain, raised serum alkaline phosphatase, and typical radiological changes. Bone scintigraphy with 99mTc-labeled radiotracers is commonly used to assess disease extent, and one of the classical findings of Paget's disease on bone scintigraphy is diffuse radiotracer uptake in the mandible bone, widely described as Lincoln or Black Beard sign. On the other hand, FDG PET-CT is commonly used in cancer imaging and frequently for staging or assessing recurrence in various malignancies. However, its use in evaluating Paget's disease is not established, attributed mainly to the heterogeneity of FDG uptake in Paget's disease and the high false-positive and negative findings. Case presentation A 57-year-old female with metastatic mucinous rectosigmoid adenocarcinoma underwent multiple surgeries and completed 12 chemotherapy cycles with no evidence of local recurrence in the colon or distant metastasis. In the tenth year of active surveillance, her serum CEA levels were found to be elevated, yet there was no evidence of cancer spread from colonoscopy and contrast-enhanced CT. An 18F-FDG PET-CT was then ordered, to which a unique diffuse FDG uptake pattern in the mandible was seen, resembling the Lincoln or Black Beard sign classically described in bone scintigraphy. This appearance was then verified by congruent uptake during a 99mTc-MDP scan, thus leading to the diagnosis of Paget's disease. Conclusion The Lincoln sign is not limited to bone scintigraphy. Hence, we intend to add this FDG PET-CT finding to enrich the literature on the Lincoln sign and when to expect this pattern.

Abstract The aim of this study was to reduce discrepancies between students and instructors in a preclinical dental course by employing structured peer feedback based on a detailed evaluation sheet. In a crossover study of dental students (n = 32), which compared peer feedback using an evaluation sheet (test) with the traditional method (control), participants completed tasks involving cavity and partial crown preparation. In an effort to capture travelers’ propensity towards micro-mobility options, a consumer survey was designed and conducted in the state of Florida in Fall 2021. In addition to collecting socioeconomic, demographic, attitudinal, and trip-related information, stated-preference scenarios were presented to the respondents, in which they were asked to choose between their current mode, and three different micro-mobility alternatives, namely: e-scooter, e-scooter + public transit, and moped. A machine learning classification model, the tree-based Extreme Gradient Boosting algorithm was applied to study users’ mode choice toward micromobility options given its non-parametric nature and high predictive power. SHAP values were then used to analyze the contributing factors for each of the micro-mobility options. In addition, Local Interpretable Model-agnostic Explanations (LIME) was employed to interpret and validate the SHAP findings at the individual prediction level. Model results show that age, car-oriented attitudes, lack of familiarity/previous experience, and lack of appropriate infrastructures were the major barriers to choose micro-mobility services. Such services can be suitable alternatives for young people who come from large families or ride-share users who have prior experience with micromobility services. Among different micro-mobility alternatives, mopeds were favored by males and green travelers. It seems that e-scooter + public transit was considered a safe and comfortable option, especially for students and low-income individuals, but generally not favored by travel time-sensitive or green travelers. Finally, e-scooters seem to be a favorable option for younger individuals with short travel distances. Our findings provide additional insights on policies that may help encourage the use of micromobility devices and promote sustainable, affordable, and equitable mobility services.

Orthodontic relapse, the return to a pre-treatment position after orthodontic correction, is driven by the RANKL/TNF-α-mediated ROS/Keap1/Nrf2 signaling axis. This mechanism triggers aseptic inflammation and oxidative stress, influencing bone resorption and formation. Antioxidants can mitigate oxidative stress, potentially improving post-orthodontic outcomes. This study explores the efficacy of antioxidant compounds derived from green seaweed/algae in managing orthodontic relapse. Green seaweed/algae extracts were prepared via sonication, and bioactive compounds were identified using ultra-performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-ESI-MS/MS) analysis. Compounds underwent bioactivity prediction, toxicity assessment, and drug-likeness evaluation, revealing significant therapeutic potential. Network pharmacology and molecular docking identified key proteins associated with orthodontic relapse, including IL-1β, STAT3, ESR1, MAPK1, JAK2, and HMOX1. Molecular docking simulations indicated favorable binding energies for green seaweed compounds, particularly the alkaloids adenosine (ΔG −6.9 to −7.3 kcal/mol) and lycopodine (ΔG −6.3 to −8.5 kcal/mol), against targeted proteins, matching or outperforming standard drugs such as s-ibuprofen (ΔG −6.7 kcal/mol). In vitro assays confirmed the antioxidant activity of these compounds, with EC50 dose of 52.2–54.2 μg/mL for ABTS radical scavenging capacities. Protein expression analysis in tibial-femoral bone marrow cells further demonstrated the potential of green seaweed/algae compounds to suppress osteoclastogenesis by modulating the RANKL/TNF-α-mediated ROS/Keap1/Nrf2 pathway. This research highlights the promise of green seaweed-derived antioxidants in reducing oxidative stress and managing orthodontic relapse, providing a foundation for future therapeutic developments.

The noble aim of publishing an article is to drive the wheel of scientific research forward; pragmatically speaking, though, and that is the case of many authors, a publication is a set criterion for their graduation or promotion. When publishing an article is mentioned, authors tend to contemplate rejection. Some fear rejection to the point of refraining from drafting the manuscript. To identify the most common reasons why submissions are rejected, internally by the journal editors (also referred to as preview or screening stage), and externally by the blind reviewers, we analysed the preview and review comments of 100 rejected submissions to the "International Journal of Education and literacy Studies" ("IJELS") in the period between 2018 and 2020. The results of inductive thematic analysis indicated that the main reasons why submissions were rejected at the preview stage were problems with originality, poor language, scope, format, and organization. At the review stage, the main reasons were methodology, organization, language, insignificance, and literature review. Additionally, other less common reasons why manuscripts were rejected were that they lacked clear and conventional result reports, in-depth discussions, and thick conclusions, relevant, current, and impactful references among others to be discussed in this article. Many of these issues are, of course, fixable and future authors are highly encouraged to go through this paper and treat it as a guideline that will improve the quality of their manuscripts, and therefore, they will stand higher chances of acceptance.

Electronic Word-of-Mouth (e-WOM) can convey product information about ratings, desires, requests and experiences. Therefore, it plays an important role in influencing purchases. This study aims to identify e-commerce quality, positive e-WOM and negative e-WOM on online impulse buying. E-commerce users sometimes act impulsively in purchasing after seeing some responses contained in e-WOM as information about the products. Positive product responses are not enough to convince e-commerce users to act impulsively, considering negative product responses is also an essential consideration for e-commerce users. This research uses a quantitative approach using a survey method of 315 respondents sampled from the population of e-commerce users in West Java, which was processed using smartPLS. This study found that e-commerce quality directly impacts online impulse buying, positive e-WOM, and negative e-WOM. Positive e-WOM does not directly impact online impulse buying, while negative e-WOM does. Another result shows that negative e-WOM successfully mediates the relationship between e-commerce quality and online impulse buying, while positive e-WOM fails to moderate the relationship between e-commerce quality and online impulse buying. This research contributes to e-commerce and consumer behaviour knowledge, serving as a reference for scholars by exploring how e-commerce quality relates to online impulse buying through positive and negative e-WOM among e-commerce users.

And how can one take an effective step in improving the quality and efficiency of Farhangian University by presenting the organizational excellence promotion model and achieve the excellence and excellence of the university?This research was conducted with the aim of identifying the lived experience of Farhangian University managers of organizational excellence in Farhangian University of Kermanshah, Kurdistan and Hamedan. This research, using a combined exploratory method, seeks to answer the question of what are the components of organizational excellence in Farhangian University and what model is the organizational excellence in this university basically affected by.Methodology: The data collection of this research is done in the qualitative part using in-depth semi-structured interviews and this research is done in a qualitative way. The statistical community of this research includes the managers of Farhangian University of Kermanshah, Kurdistan and Hamedan, which according to the statistics of these universities are about 177 people. are selected as statistical population. The method of this qualitative research is exploratory type, which was done with grounded theory technique. The statistical population of the research includes the directors of Farhangian University, 15 people were purposefully selected as the study sample and in-depth interviews were taken from them.Findings: The method of interview analysis was three stages of coding, and after a more detailed examination and the link between sub-category concepts, 11 core categories were obtained, which are: knowledge orientation, succession planning, stabilization of desirable results, networks and communication skills, organizational efficiency. , human resources, joint creation of value, competitiveness of the organization, empowerment, elite leaders and the identification of points that can be improved. The means of elite and excellent managers, together with the identification of points that can be improved and efficient, leads to the joint creation of sustainable values and the development of succession." It appeared that it can cover all other categories. Therefore, considering the fact that universities, especially Farhangian University and higher education institutions, are among the most important scientific institutions in the production of knowledge and technology and the education of students, they should always be on the path of excellence and be among the top organizations, moving in advance of the competitive environment. Discussion and Conclusion: The results of the modeling of this research show the fact that the effect of all variables on the dependent variable of organizational excellence in Farhangian University of Kermanshah, Kurdistan and Hamedan was significant. In a general conclusion, it can be said that all the results in structural equation modeling overlap with the results of hypothesis testing in Spss software. Therefore, the locally developed model for the basis of organizational excellence in Farhangian University of Kermanshah, Kurdistan and Hamadan has high credibility and is acceptable for implementation in other universities and scientific centers of the country. The advantages and consequences of this model include creating loyal and satisfied customers, successful leaders, creating a clear understanding of the organizational goal, managing changes, creating more motivation in the organization's stakeholders, effective and better use of organizational information, making organizational operations more efficient, creating He pointed out the opportunities for improvement in the organization, minimizing redundancies, and innovation and creativity and added value in the organization. By using the research excellence model, the university can evaluate its success in implementing improvement programs at different times and will have the possibility to compare its performance with other universities, especially with the best ones. Considering the fact that universities, especially Farhangian University and higher education institutions, are among the major scientific institutions responsible for the training of committed human resources and experts in the education system, as leaders of the country's human resources cycle, it should always be on the path of excellence and among the organizations Sarmad, the competitive environment of scientific universities should be on the move. This research explores the effectiveness of two hybrid composites, pattern-1 (K-M-G-K-M-G-G-M-K) and pattern-2 (K-M-G-K-M-G-K-M-G), in experimental and simulation tests to create a cost-efficient hybrid composite. The composite includes Mulberry (M) silk (Bombyx mori) fibers reinforcing an epoxy resin-matrix hybrid with Kevlar (K) and Glass fiber (G). Both pattern-1 and pattern-2 are evaluated through experimental tests, and simulation tests are conducted to validate the findings. ANSYS Workbench is used for simulation tests to determine the best stacking sequence for protective gears, aerospace components, automotive parts, sport equipment and marine applications. The structural morphology of the hybrid composites is examined using scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results show that pattern-1 performs better than pattern-2 in various experimental and simulation tests, with a wider plastic zone in the tensile test stress-strain curve, greater tensile strength (73 MPa and 67.923 MPa), higher load-bearing capacity, and enhanced ductility. Pattern-1 also demonstrates improved performance in flexural strength (45.35 MPa and 71.474 MPa) and impact strength (6 J and 5.4898 J). Simulation results confirm that pattern-1 is superior to pattern-2 in terms of energy absorption and resistance to bullet penetration.

Earth Observation Satellite has facilitated the study of the earth’s environment and become powerful in various applications such as: Land temperature, Land use, urban monitoring, defense, etc. Additionally, the transmission of this image captured from the EOS to the earth must be confidential and secure against illegal access, and without data corruption. However, this task remains challenging due to the space radiation environment that could affect the satellite’s hardware, and lead to corrupted data. These issues motivate our study to provide an enhanced approach to securing the satellite and ground station link. In this paper, we propose a secure implementation-based radiation-hardened Virtex-4QV FPGA. The secure implementation utilizes a combined architecture between the AES algorithm and Hamming code to ensure security. The most significant advantage of the proposed implementation is the use of the three keys 128/192/256 bits with the pipelined architecture which leads to a high throughput and a high level of security. Based on several security criteria, the suggested cryptosystem findings demonstrate the system’s effectiveness in terms of security. Therefore, this proposed solution can be used and utilized in the EOS application.

Segmental arterial mediolysis (SAM) is a rare, noninflammatory, nonatherosclerotic condition that occurs commonly in mesenteric vessels. There are no known predisposing risk factors to the development of SAM. We present a case of a 67-year-old woman who presented with abdominal pain 2 days following discharge after an elective endovascular abdominal aortic intervention. Repeat imaging 2 days after readmission showed the presence of multiple new aneurysms involving the mesenteric vasculature. She underwent attempted endovascular embolization of the largest aneurysm. The postmortem and histopathologic examinations confirmed the diagnosis of SAM.

The primary objective of this research was to observe the physical, mechanical and thermal properties of rattan fiber reinforced hybrid epoxy resin laminated composites. The hybrid composites were fabricated utilizing rattan fiber, carbon fiber, jute fiber and epoxy resin as matrix materials. This study employed two types of rattan fibers, namely plain weave and twill weave. These rattan fibers were combined with carbon fibers and jute fibers separately, forming R3C2, R′3C2, R3J2 and R′3J2 composites. The fabrication process involved conventional hand lay-up followed by high-temperature treatment and pressure application under a hydraulic press to ensure effective curing and minimize voids within the final composites. These were compared with the properties of monolithic laminates. Mechanical properties, including tensile, flexural and hardness characteristics, were assessed to evaluate the impact of rattan fibers in hybrid composites. Failure modes of the fractured tensile specimen were examined using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Additionally, water absorption behavior and fire retardant painting test were conducted. The results showed that hybrid composites reinforced with plain weave rattan fiber (R3C2 & R3J2) exhibit superior tensile strength, flexural strength and hardness. In comparison to R5 composites, the tensile strengths of these samples have improved by 104.36% and 349.68%, respectively. Moreover, the flexural strengths of R3C2 and R3J2 composites exhibit significant enhancements of 218.41% and 90.9%. These composites also excel in the Shore D Hardness test. Hence, it can be concluded that the hybrid composites reinforced with rattan fibers demonstrate enhanced physical, mechanical, and thermal properties.

The present work indicates the fabrication of Aluminum Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs) reinforced jute stick charcoal powder (JSCP) using stir casting process and investigates different properties of fabricated composites. Mechanical properties such as flexural strength, tensile strength, hardness, and impact tests are investigated. Additionally, the morphology of the MMCs were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Furthermore, X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis was used to identify the phase of the MMCs. From the investigation it was found that the tensile and flexural strength of the Al+3% JSCP composite decreased by 27.1% and 1.32% respectively compared to the Al+1% JSCP composite. On the other hand, impact strength and hardness were slightly greater for Al+3% JSCP composite. SEM analysis revealed micro-cavities and charcoal powder particle size and distribution differences. XRD patterns of the prepared composite revealed the presence of JSCP and lattice parameter of the composite. The investigation of surface roughness under different cutting speed reveals that, composite with 1% JSCP exhibited a higher surface roughness than the composite with 3% JSCP because the micro-cavity and porosity was less in Al+3% JSCP.

The study utilized quantitative research methods and secondary data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange, company websites, and relevant journals. The sample consisted of 474 observations from listed companies on the IDX, excluding non-financial firms, covering the period from 2016 to 2019. Statistical analyses, including Pearson Correlation, OLS Regression, and Moderated Regression, were conducted using STATA 14.2 software. The results indicate that managerial ownership, government ownership, and corporate governance quality positively influence tunnelling behaviour, while domestic ownership has a negative impact. Foreign ownership, on the other hand, does not significantly affect tunnelling behaviour. Notably, the number of subsidiaries strengthens the relationship between corporate governance quality and tunnelling behaviour.

Purpose: This study aims to examine the effect of which variables (financial performance and firm value) are better in explaining bankruptcy prediction in technology sector companies. Methodology/approach: This research is an exploratory study using a population of companies in the technology sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Samples were taken in the 2018-2022 period using purposive sampling techniques. The analysis technique used regression analysis with IBM SPSS 24 software. Findings: While firm value may not always predict a tech company's fate, financial performance stands as a critical indicator of potential bankruptcy. This study underscores the importance of prioritizing sound financial health over valuation when assessing risks in the tech sector. Practical and Theoretical contribution/Originality: This finding confirms that the information generated by the stock market is not immediately responded to by investors. This indicates that the stock market in Indonesia is still classified as semi-efficient. Research Limitation: The number of company samples is still limited. This happens because many companies do not have complete data. There are technology companies that have not been listed on the IDX for 5 years so they cannot be used in testing.

This study presents a comprehensive methodology for the implementation of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in the context of urban flood mitigation, specifically within the heritage city of Guangzhou, China. The investigation delves into the roles of urban morphology and impermeability in exacerbating flood risk through enhanced runoff accumulation and reduced infiltration. A key focus is the spatial heterogeneity of flood susceptibility, influenced by the disparate distribution of various building types and demographic segments. This research integrates susceptibility and vulnerability assessments with spatial analysis of NbS and multi-criteria decision-making, facilitating the identification of pivotal zones for NbS application. Findings underscore the critical role of urban design in flood risk management and reveal the efficacy of vegetation-based strategies, namely vegetated swales and bioretention cells, which account for 8.41% and 7.08% of the total area, respectively, in curbing urban flood impacts. Recommendations for heritage city innovation include the prioritization of vegetation-integrated road layouts coupled with a gradual enhancement of grey infrastructure in historical areas. The study culminates in providing strategic insights for policymakers and urban planners in heritage cities, underscoring the necessity of a balanced approach to technical feasibility and conservation imperatives in NbS deployment.

A 71-year-old male presented to Urology with three weeks of overt haematuria and increasing lethargy. Contrast-enhanced CT scans revealed an 8 × 6cm partially exophytic lesion in the left kidney's upper pole, extending beyond the capsule and invading the superior cortical vein, accompanied by abnormal retrocrural lymph nodes. Signs of paraneoplastic syndrome prompted a left radical nephrectomy for symptom relief. Histological analysis identified high-grade collecting duct renal carcinoma and invasive urothelial cell carcinoma. Post-surgery, he was referred for oncological treatment but passed away within two months of the initial diagnosis.

Between the changing Industry 4.0 landscape and the rise of Industry 5.0, where human intelligence and intelligent machines work together, vast amounts of privacy-sensitive data are generated, processed, and exchanged, making them attractive targets of various attacks. Hence, privacy protection has become a major human concern. Due to its importance, this paper investigates the state-of-the-art research efforts directed toward privacy preservation. Firstly, this paper examines the main privacy requirements and identifies the key privacy-related threats and attacks for systems integrating blockchain and AI. Secondly, we study Blockchain-based privacy preservation solutions, and we devise a taxonomy to classify them based on privacy of data and privacy of network. Thirdly, AI-based privacy-preserving methods are discussed and categorized into privacy-preserving data, privacy-preserving model, and privacy-preserving service. Moreover, this paper adds value by analyzing the impact of privacy from technical aspects, human and social-economic aspects, and ethical and legal considerations. Additionally, it sheds light on the role of privacy as a lifestyle, which is crucial not only in mainstream sectors but also for people with disabilities who depend on technological advancements and privacy safeguards for their empowerment. The paper concludes by addressing open challenges in privacy preservation, paving the way for future research directions vital for fostering a privacy-centric evolution in the dynamic Industry 4.0 and beyond.

The increased demand for energy has driven researchers to concentrate on generating secure energy sources for humanity. One advantage of inventing a biological and chemical way to generate green and efficient electrical energy is that it eliminates dependency on soon-to-extinct fossil fuels. Biofuels are one of many emerging sectors that are receiving major attention, all of which are alternative fuels. Carbon-based nanomaterials, due to their larger surface area, affordability, and ability to withstand high temperatures, have been engineered to serve as efficient electrocatalysts without the need for metals. These nanomaterials can also provide a stable structure for metal-based electrocatalysts, enabling the conversion of biofuels into environmentally friendly energy sources. Thus, biofuel synthesis is “greener” using its catalyst. Graphite, carbon nanoparticles, nanotubes, nanohorns, and nanorods can be used to construct and build a wide range of biofuels. This review gives insight into how carbon-based nanomaterials are used across all different stages of biofuel production, along with corresponding issues and possibilities. Moreover, it emphasizes the utilization of diverse carbon-based nanomaterials and nano-biocatalysts to enhance biofuel production by increasing its yield. Given its many possible uses, the research in concern exhibits a seemingly indefinite scope.

UNLABELLED: African-American (AA) men are more likely to be diagnosed with and die from prostate cancer than European American (EA) men. Despite the central role of the androgen receptor (AR) transcription factor in prostate cancer, little is known about the contribution of epigenetics to observed racial disparities. We performed AR chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing on primary prostate tumors from AA and EA men, finding that sites with greater AR binding intensity in AA relative to EA prostate cancer are enriched for lipid metabolism and immune response genes. Integration with transcriptomic and metabolomic data demonstrated coinciding upregulation of lipid metabolism gene expression and increased lipid levels in AA prostate cancer. In a metastatic prostate cancer cohort, upregulated lipid metabolism associated with poor prognosis. These findings offer the first insights into ancestry-specific differences in the prostate cancer AR cistrome. The data suggest a model whereby increased androgen signaling may contribute to higher levels of lipid metabolism, immune response, and cytokine signaling in AA prostate tumors. Given the association of upregulated lipogenesis with prostate cancer progression, our study provides a plausible biological explanation for the higher incidence and aggressiveness of prostate cancer observed in AA men. SIGNIFICANCE: With immunotherapies and inhibitors of metabolic enzymes in clinical development, the altered lipid metabolism and immune response in African-American men provides potential therapeutic opportunities to attenuate racial disparities in prostate cancer.

BackgroundCranial dural arteriovenous fistulas with cortical venous drainage are rare lesions that can present with hemorrhage. A high rate of rebleeding in the early period following hemorrhage has been reported, but published long-term rates are much lower. No study has examined how risk of rebleeding changes over time. Our objective was to quantify the relative incidence of rebleeding in the early and later periods following hemorrhage.MethodsPatients with dural arteriovenous fistula and cortical venous drainage presenting with hemorrhage were identified from the multinational CONDOR (Consortium for Dural Fistula Outcomes Research) database. Natural history follow-up was defined as time from hemorrhage to first treatment, rebleed, or last follow-up. Rebleeding in the first 2 weeks and first year were compared using incidence rate ratio and difference.ResultsOf 1077 patients, 250 met the inclusion criteria and had 95 cumulative person-years natural history follow-up. The overall annualized rebleed rate was 7.3% (95% CI, 3.2-14.5). The incidence rate of rebleeding in the first 2 weeks was 0.0011 per person-day; an early rebleed risk of 1.6% in the first 14 days (95% CI, 0.3-5.1). For the remainder of the first year, the incidence rate was 0.00015 per person-day; a rebleed rate of 5.3% (CI, 1.7-12.4) over 1 year. The incidence rate ratio was 7.3 (95% CI, 1.4-37.7; P, 0.026).ConclusionsThe risk of rebleeding of a dural arteriovenous fistula with cortical venous drainage presenting with hemorrhage is increased in the first 2 weeks justifying early treatment. However, the magnitude of this increase may be considerably lower than previously thought. Treatment within 5 days was associated with a low rate of rebleeding and appears an appropriate timeframe.
