The paper presents a novel method for tracking several air targets simultaneously. The developed concept concerns a multi-channel, passive, short-range anti-aircraft defence system based on the programmed selection of air targets and an algorithm of simultaneous synchronisation of several modified optical scanning seekers. The above system is supposed to facilitate simultaneous firing of several self-guided infrared rocket missiles at many different air targets. From the available information, it appears that, currently, there are no passive self-guided seekers that fulfil such tasks. This paper contains theoretical discussions and simulations of simultaneous detection and tracking of many air targets by mutually integrated seekers of several rocket missiles. In the course of 2018, on the background of increasing tensions with USA on Ukraine and Siria, Russian President Vladimir Putin decide to liquidate the conflict in Ukraine by destroying Ukrainian army and invading southern part of this country. The aims of the operation, are: -Denial of Ukraine access to the Black Sea; -Getting Russia's access to Danube. -Providing Russia's access from the mainland to the Crimea; -Preventing the creation of NATO's bases in southern Ukraine. As a Secondary Direction: An attack against Dobrogea in order to distract NATO's main operation and prevent the alliance to intervene before reaching primary objective in Ukraine by Russian troops: conquering the south of Ukraine. In this paper, a new guidance law, which is called virtual sliding target (VST) guidance law, is designed based on the concept of the virtual target (VT). The presented law is applicable for short- and medium-range missiles. It is shown that by using proportional navigation (PN) and considering the aerodynamic characteristics of the missiles, this law leads to a better performance than the PN law. In this approach, motion of the VT is started from a position higher than the real target. By controlling the speed of VT, which slides toward a predicted intercept point (PIP), speed, position, and trajectory of the missile can be controlled. Since arrival times of the missile to the VTand the VT to the real target are equal, the collision will happen. Furthermore, a new optimal guidance law is presented for long-range missiles based on the concept of the waypoint (WP) and VT. In the mentioned law, there are two important points. The first one is a constant point that is called a waypoint and the second one is called a virtual target, which slides toward the PIP. Then a teaching-learning--based optimization (TLBO) algorithm is used to find the optimal initial position of the WP and the VT to maximize the intercept speed. The article discusses the fundamental challenges in the development of anti-ballistic missile (ABM) systems to intercept incoming intercontinental ballistic missiles and defend the country against heavy missile assault in the U.S. According to the article, the first American ABM system called Nike Zeus system did not have the capability to address complicated problem of a number of objects arriving simultaneously. The author points three different types of ABM systems and their problems of interaction, including a simple kind of system that can detect few incoming objects, a defense system for hardened facilities and a deliberate system to defend the population against a heavy attack.

The article shares the author's thoughts concerning the issues about the strategy of military in Washington. The author notes that the new strategy will destroy the enemy's nuclear power without laying waste of its civilization. He said that McNamara, secretary of defense has outlined the strategic retaliatory forces in which the major mission of the forces is to dissuade war by its capability in destroying the war-making capacity of their enemies. He points out that the strategy has presumed that the Soviet Union would not use its more than 50 percent nuclear power. He cites that the stripped of Soviet Union in its missiles would still be prey to attack their enemies by the used of wide roaming Polaris submarines, medium-range rockets and bombers.

Threat evaluation (TE) is a process used to assess the threat values (TVs) of air-breathing threats (ABTs), such as air fighters, that are approaching defended assets (DAs). This study proposes an automatic method for conducting TE using radar information when ABTs infiltrate into territory where DAs are located. The method consists of target asset (TA) prediction and TE. We divide a friendly territory into discrete cells based on the effective range of anti-aircraft missiles. The TA prediction identifies the TA of each ABT by predicting the ABT's movement through cells in the territory via a Markov chain, and the cell transition is modeled by neural networks. We calculate the TVs of the ABTs based on the TA prediction results. A simulation-based experiment revealed that the proposed method outperformed TE based on the closest point of approach or the radial speed vector methods. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Global tracking performance analysis in near-real time for the space-based missile warning system is an architecture level demand for the system designers. The traditional method which based on Monte Carlo simulations cannot meet the demand for its time-consuming nature. In this paper, non-simulation rapid performance prediction methods in stereopsis and monocular observation conditions are studied. The latter, though inevitable, has not been taken into account in other literatures. Furthermore, we also find the geometrical symmetry for monocular observation and propose a rapid analysis method called compass of performance based on this symmetry. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article discusses a study which explored the distributed guidance law design problem for cooperative simultaneous attacks against a stationary target with multiple missiles. Topics covered include the description of the many-to-one missile-target engagement kinematics, the proposed idea to solve the simultaneous attack problem and the simulation results of a five-to-one engagement scenario.

Considering a class of skid-to-turn (STT) missile with fixed target and constrained terminal impact angles, a novel three-dimensional (3D) integrated guidance and control (IGC) scheme is proposed in this paper. Based on coriolis theorem, the fully nonlinear IGC model without the assumption that the missile flies heading to the target at initial time is established in the three-dimensional space. For this strict-feedback form of multi-variable system, dynamic surface control algorithm is implemented combining with extended observer (ESO) to complete the preliminary design. Then, in order to deal with the problems of the input constraints, a hyperbolic tangent function is introduced to approximate the saturation function and auxiliary system including a Nussbaum function established to compensate for the approximation error. The stability of the closed-loop system is proven based on Lyapunov theory. Numerical simulations results show that the proposed integrated guidance and control algorithm can ensure the accuracy of target interception with initial alignment angle deviation and the input saturation is suppressed with smooth deflection curves. Many analysts worry that improvements in Chinese missile, sensor, guidance, and other technologies will enable China to deny the U.S. military access to parts of the Western Pacific that the United States has long controlled. Although these "antiaccess, area denial" (A2/AD) capabilities are real, they are a geographically limited long-term threat. As both the United States and China deploy A2/AD capabilities, a new era will emerge in which the U.S. military no longer enjoys today's command of the global commons, but is still able to deny China military hegemony in the Western Pacific. In this new era, the United States will possess a sphere of influence around allied landmasses; China will maintain a sphere of influence over its own mainland; and a contested battlespace will cover much of the South and East China Seas wherein neither power enjoys wartime freedom of surface or air movement. This in turn suggests that the Chinese A2/AD threat to U.S. allies is real but more limited than often supposed. This paper presents a novel objective optimization approach based on clonal selection algorithm (CSA) to solve the problems of weapon-target assignment (WTA) in warship formation antiaircraft application. The proposed CSA, namely adaptive chaos parallel clonal selection algorithm (ACPCSA), combines the benefits of chaos theory and parallel population classification to realize the population initialization and population update. In this algorithm, Chaos regeneration and Chaos disturbance are creatively employed to design population initialization operator and hyper-mutation operator. And parallel population classification is adopted to design parallel mechanism for all sub-populations, which can keep the population diversity according to affinity. Besides, CSA is improved by adaptive clonal proliferation operator, antibody inhibition operator and antibody circulation supplement operator, where operators can improve global optimization ability and local searching ability. Finally, typical scenario is performed and compared by implementation of other algorithms. Simulation results show that the proposed ACPCSA has good optimization performance in terms of search accuracy and convergence flexibility, which can provide an effective way to solve WTA in warship formation antiaircraft application.
