Excitons are often given negative connotation in solar energy harvesting in part due to their presumed short diffusion lengths. We investigate exciton transport in single-crystal methylammonium lead tribromide (MAPbBr3) microribbons via spectrally, spatially, and temporally resolved photocurrent and photoluminescence measurements. Distinct peaks in the photocurrent spectra unambiguously confirm exciton formation and allow for accurate extraction of the low temperature exciton binding energy (39 meV). Photocurrent decays within a few μm at room temperature, while a gate-tunable long-range photocurrent component appears at lower temperatures (about 100 μm below 140 K). Carrier lifetimes of 1.2 μs or shorter exclude the possibility of the long decay length arising from slow trapped-carrier hopping. Free carrier diffusion is also an unlikely source of the highly nonlocal photocurrent, due to their small fraction at low temperatures. We attribute the long-distance transport to high-mobility excitons, which may open up new opportunities for novel exciton-based photovoltaic applications.

The practice of integrating listening and speaking in the classroom emanates from a belief that the attainment of proficiency in oral production is associated with listening since learners are plunged into the rich exposure of language input by means of listening tasks. Engaging in meaningful communication puts great demands on grammatical accuracy and vocabulary range. In this regard, listening provides an avenue for coming to good terms with knowledge of language structures, lexical units, phonological awareness and metacognition development. In addition, listening demonstrates overall positive effect on the development of oral production for it allows learners to experience good language models to communicate effectively. The study was designed to explore the influence of listening with a focus on top-down and bottom-up processes on the development of oral production. The present study adopted a quantitative approach and the participants were 45 English as a foreign language (EFL) first-year students. It was found that listening and speaking integrated language activities helped learners arrive at understanding of messages; thus, created the basis for production practice.

In this research, it is aimed to develop a scale for the use of cloud technologies in education. The sample group of the study consists of 415 preservice teachers who are studying at universities in Konya. For the validity and reliability analyses of the scale, the sample group consisting of 415 units was randomly allocated (n[subscript 1]=208 and n[subscript 2]=207) sub-samples, the first sample was used for explanatory factor analysis and the second sample was used for confirmatory factor analysis. As a result of the explanatory factor analysis of the data obtained from the first group, 6-item scale consists of motivation and interaction sub-dimensions. Interaction dimension of total variability alone explains 35.89% and motivation dimension explains 33.56%. Factor loads for the sub-dimensions ranged between 0.74 and 0.83. The internal consistency coefficient was 0.83 for Cronbach alpha, 0.77 for motivation subscale and 0.79 for interaction subscale. For the second sample, it was found that the model formed by the two-factor structure of the scale was appropriate according to the fit indices obtained from the confirmatory factor analysis results. As a result, Cloud Technologies Usage scale was found to be a valid and reliable measurement tool.

The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of in-service education designed to improve early childhood teachers' environmental awareness, knowledge, attitudes and their skills on integrating environmental issues in their teaching. Thirty early childhood teachers in the treatment group and Thirty in the control group participated the study. Teachers in the control group did not attain in-service education. Teachers responded to the Environmental Problems Attitude Scale (EPAS) before and after the in-service education. After the education process, teachers in the treatment group provided qualitative data about the impact of this education. For the treatment group the Mann-Whitney U test revealed a significant increase from pretest to posttest. Mann-Whitney U did not indicate a significant increase for the control group. Three major themes derived from qualitative data. These are an increase in environmental awareness, an increase in individual responsibility and taking action, as well as increased motivation and being better equipped for environmental education.

Examining the online privacy concerns of our prospective teachers who will raise our future generations is important in terms of determining and increasing the awareness levels of prospective teachers of the digital world and for the development of a conscious generation having this awareness while raising students. The definition of cyber space or virtual environments has further expanded; digital business applications, online services, online training systems, e-commerce sites, social media sites, and surely multiplayer video games have also been included in the definition. The definition of these digital spaces as virtual spaces creates questions as to how individuals exist in these places and how they travel in these places. This study, whose aim is to analyze online confidentiality concerns of prospective teachers in terms of various variables, consists of 92 teacher candidates who were studying in Necmettin Erbakan University of Konya in 2018-2019 academic year. In this study, where quantitative research was adopted, surveying model was used as a research method. The data collection tool was "The Online Privacy Concern Scale (OPCS)" developed. Descriptive statistics, Independent samples t-test and one-way analysis of variance were used during the analysis. It is found out that online privacy concerns of teacher candidates differ significantly in terms of mobile device usage times and classes. However there was no significant difference in online privacy concerns in terms of information and communication technologies usage levels, weekly Internet usage times, gender, department, age and mobile usage level.

Information technologies literate is an individual who produces information, can use it functionally in life, can solve problems, think critically, has entrepreneurial, stable, communication skills, empathizes, contributes to society and culture etc. The purpose of this research is to examine the effectiveness of "Information Technologies and Software Course (ITS)" in gaining knowledge, skills and values of digital citizenship with student views. Mixed research method has been adopted in the research. The sample of the study consisted of 150 students attending the 5th and 6th grade students in a public secondary school in Aksaray province in the 2018-2019 academic year. 50 students (33.3%) were in the fifth grade and 100 (66.7%) were in the sixth grade and 86 (57.3%) were female and 64 (42.7%) were male. "Digital Citizenship Scale (DCS) in ITS Scale" developed by Elci and Sari (2016) was used as a measurement tool. The obtained data were interpreted by using independent sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance in the analysis programs. As a result of the research; in the ITS course of the students, it has been observed that students have differentiated according to the variables of gaining knowledge, skills and values of digital citizenship, class, gender, socioeconomic status and having Internet access. However, it was found that there were no differences in terms of computer ownership status, mothers' education level and fathers' education level.

Abstract Lithium has been considered a potential acaricidal agent against the honey bee (Apis mellifera) parasite Varroa. It is known that lithium suppresses elevated activity and regulates circadian rhythms and light response when administered to humans as a primary therapeutic chemical for bipolar disorder and to other bipolar syndrome model organisms, given the crucial role of timing in the bee's foraging activity and the alternating sunlight vs dark colony environment bees are exposed, we explored the influence of lithium on locomotor activity (LMA) and circadian rhythm of honey bees. We conducted acute and chronic lithium administration experiments, altering light conditions and lithium doses to assess LMA and circadian rhythm changes. We fed bees one time 10 μl sucrose solution with 0, 50, 150, and 450 mM LiCl in the acute application experiment and 0, 1, 5, and 10 mmol/kg LiCl ad libitum in bee candy in the chronic application experiment. Both acute and chronic lithium treatments significantly decreased the induced LMA under constant light. Chronic lithium treatment disrupted circadian rhythmicity in constant darkness. The circadian period was lengthened by lithium treatment under constant light. We discuss the results in the context of Varroa control and lithium's effect on bipolar disorder.

Climate change has imposed a significant struggle for survival most of the Earth’s species, highlighting the urgent need for a healthy and secure environment. Recent scientific investigations have primarily concentrated on the development and use of microorganisms as powerful biotechnological tools to address the escalating pollution that poses a severe threat to life. But this microorganisims long-term effects on biodiversity and ecosystems remain a subject of inquiry. In this comprehensive review, we aim to thoroughly evaluate the effects of microorganisms on the general ecosystem and critically assess the use of existing biotechnological tools developed to combat climate-related challenges. By shedding light on the potential implications, this review strives to contribute to a deeper understanding of the intricate interplay between microorganisms, ecosystems, and climate change mitigation.

Background This study compares the analgesic effects and dermatomal blockade distributions of single and double injection bilateral thoracic paravertebral block (TPVB) techniques in patients undergoing reduction mammaplasty. Methods After obtaining ethics committee approval, 60 patients scheduled for bilateral reduction mammaplasty were included in the study. Preoperatively, the patients received one of single (Group S: T3–T4) or double (Group D: T2–T3 & T4–T5) injection bilateral TPVBs using bupivacaine 0.375% 20 ml per side. All patients were operated under general anesthesia. The T3–T6 dermatomal blockade distributions on the midclavicular line were followed by pin-prick test for 30 min preoperatively and 48 h postoperatively. All patients received paracetamol 1 g when numeric rating scale (NRS) pain score was ≥ 4, and also tramadol 1 mg/kg when NRS was ≥ 4 again after 1 h. The primary endpoint was NRS pain scores at postoperative 12th h. The secondary endpoints were dermatomal blockade distributions and NRS scores through the postoperative first 48 h, time until first pain and the analgesic consumption on days 1 and 2. Results Fifty-two patients completed the study. The NRS pain scores at 12th h were similar (right side: P = 0.100, left side: P = 0.096). The remaining NRS scores and other parameters were also comparable within the groups (P ≥ 0.05). Only single injection TPVB application time was shorter (P < 0.001). Conclusions The single injection TPVB technique provided sufficient dermatomal distribution and analgesic efficacy with the advantages of being faster and less invasive.
