The NA62 experiment reports the branching ratio measurement $BR(K^+\to\pi^+\nu\bar\nu)$ at 68% CL, based on the observation of 20 signal candidates with an expected background of 7.0 events from the total data sample collected at the CERN SPS during 2016-2018. This provides evidence for the very rare $K^+\to\pi^+\nu\bar\nu$ decay, observed with a significance of $3.4\sigma$. The experiment achieves a single event sensitivity of $(0.839\pm0.054)\times10^{-11}$, corresponding to 10.0 events assuming the Standard Model branching ratio of $(8.4\pm1.0)\times10^{-11}$. The result represents the most accurate measurement achieved so far of this ultra-rare decay. Future prospects and plans for data taking from 2021 will also be presented.

Searches for heavy neutral lepton production in $K^{+} \to e^{+}N$ and $K^{+} \to \mu ^{+}N$ decays using the data set collected by the NA62 experiment at CERN in 2016-18 are presented. Upper limits on the elements of the extended neutrino mixing matrix and are established at the levels of and , respectively, improving on the earlier searches for heavy neutral lepton production and decays in the kinematically accessible mass range. Searches for the $K^{+} \to \mu ^{+}\nu \nu \bar{\nu }$ and $K^{+} \to \mu ^{-}\nu X$ decays, where $X$ is an new light invisible particle, are also reported.

The NA62 experiment at CERN collected a large sample of charged kaon decays into final states with multiple charged particles in 2017-2018. Results from searches for lepton flavour and number violating decays in $K^+$ and $\pi^0$ to final states containing a lepton pair, based on this data set, are presented, reaching sensitivities of $\mathcal{O}(10^{−11}−10^{−10})$.

The NA62 experiment at CERN reports new results from the study of the radiative kaon decay $K^+ \to \pi^0 e^+ \nu \gamma$ ($Ke3\gamma$), using a data sample recorded in 2017 and 2018. Preliminary results with the most precise measurement of the $Ke3\gamma$ branching ratio, and a T-asymmetry measurement in the $Ke3\gamma$ decay, are presented.

Searches for the lepton number violating $K^{+}\rightarrow\pi^{-}\mu^{+}e^{+}$ decay and lepton flavour violating decays $K^{+}\rightarrow\pi^{+}\mu^{-}e^{+}$ and $\pi^{0}\rightarrow\mu^{-}e^{+}$ are reported, using NA62 data collected in 2017 and 2018. In the absence of a significant excess above the background in each channel, upper limits on the branching ratios are established at $90\%$ confidence level: $\mathcal{B}(K^{+}\rightarrow\pi^{-}\mu^{+}e^{+})

We report the results of a search for dark photon in-flight decays to μ + μ − pairs at NA62. Dark photons could be produced by dumping protons onto a copper-iron absorber, reach the NA62 decay volume more than 80 m downstream of the dump and decay therein. The measurement is based on data collected in 2021 which correspond to 1.4 × 1017 dumped protons.

During recent years, our group has pioneered the use of BNNTs for biomedical applications, first of all assessing their in vitro cytocompatibility on many different cell lines. At this point, in vivo investigations are necessary before proceeding toward realistic developments of the proposed applications. In this communication, we report a pilot toxicological study of BNNTs in rabbits. Animals were injected with a 1 mg/kg BNNT solution and blood tests were performed up to 72 hours after injection. The analyses aimed at evaluating any acute alteration of hematic parameters that could represent evidence of functional impairment in blood, liver, and kidneys. Even if preliminary, the data are highly promising, as they showed no adverse effects on all the evaluated parameters, and therefore suggest the possibility of the realistic application of BNNTs in the biomedical field.Keywords: boron nitride nanotubes, in vivo testing, toxicology

We study the processes e+e− → π+π−π0π0π0π0γ and π+π−π0π0π0ηγ in which an energetic photon is radiated from the initial state. The data were collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. About 7300 and 870 events, respectively, are selected from a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 469 fb^−1. The invariant mass of the hadronic final state defines the effective e+e− center-of-mass energy. The center-of-mass energies range from threshold to 4.5 GeV. From the mass spectra, the first ever measurements of the e+e− → π+π−π0π0π0π0 and the e+e− → π+π−π0π0π0η cross sections are performed. The contributions from ωπ0π0π0, ηπþπ−π0, ωη, and other intermediate states are presented. We observe the J/ψ and ψ(2S) in most of these final states and measure the corresponding branching fractions, many of them for the first time.

The process e+e−→π+π−π0γ is studied at a center-of-mass energy near the ϒ(4S) resonance using a data sample of 469 fb−1 collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II collider. We have performed a precise measurement of the e+e−→π+π−π0 cross section in the center-of-mass energy range from 0.62 to 3.5 GeV. In the energy regions of the ω and ϕ resonances, the cross section is measured with a systematic uncertainty of 1.3%. The leading-order hadronic contribution to the muon magnetic anomaly calculated using the measured e+e−→π+π−π0 cross section from threshold to 2.0 GeV is (45.86±0.14±0.58)×10−10. From the fit to the measured 3π mass spectrum we have determined the resonance parameters Γ(ω→e+e−)B(ω→π+π−π0)=(0.5698±0.0031±0.0082) keV, Γ(ϕ→e+e−)B(ϕ→π+π−π0)=(0.1841±0.0021±0.0080) keV, and B(ρ→3π)=(0.88±0.23±0.30)×10−4. The significance of the ρ→3π signal is greater than 6σ. For the J/ψ resonance we have measured the product Γ(J/ψ→e+e−)B(J/ψ→3π)=(0.1248±0.0019±0.0026) keV.

- Abstract
The process e⁺e⁻ → π⁺π⁻πγ is studied at a center-of-mass energy near the Υ(4S) resonance using a data sample of 469 fb⁻¹ collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II collider. We have performed a precise measurement of the e⁺e⁻ → π⁺π⁻π⁰ cross section in the center-of-mass energy range from 0.62 to 3.5 GeV. In the energy regions of the ω and ϕ resonances, the cross section is measured with a systematic uncertainty of 1.3%. The leading-order hadronic contribution to the muon magnetic anomaly calculated using the measured e⁺e⁻ → π⁺π⁻π⁰ cross section from threshold to 2.0 GeV is (45.86±0.14±0.58) × 10⁻¹⁰. From the fit to the measured 3π mass spectrum we have determined the resonance parameters Γ(ω → e⁺e⁻)B(ω → π⁺π⁻π⁰) = (0.5698±0.0031±0.0082) keV, Γ(ϕ → e⁺e⁻)B(ϕ → π⁺π⁻π⁰) = (0.1841±0.0021±0.0080) keV, and B(ρ → 3π) = (0.88±0.23±0.30) × 10⁻⁴. The significance of the ρ → 3π signal is greater than 6σ. For the J/ψ resonance we have measured the product Γ(J/ψ → e⁺e⁻)B(J/ψ → 3π) = (0.1248±0.0019±0.0026) keV.

In this paper we present new results on upper limits for the search of Heavy Neutral Leptons (HNL) with data collected by NA48/2 (2003-2004), NA62-RK (2007) and NA62 (2015) CERN experiments. The data collected with different trigger configuration allow to search for both long and short living heavy neutrinos in the mass range below the kaon mass. In addition the status of the search for K+ → π+vv with the NA62 detector will be briefly presented.

BABAR - Abstract
We study the processes , , and using a data sample of recorded with the BABAR detector operating at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy collider at center-of-mass energies at and near the (, 3, 4) resonances. This is the first observation of the decay and we measure the branching fraction . Significant interference is observed between and the nonresonant two-photon process . A Dalitz plot analysis is performed of decays to , , and . Combined with our previous analysis of , we measure the parameters and the ratio between its and couplings. The decay is dominated by the resonance, also observed in radiative decays. A new resonance is observed in the channel. We also compare decays to and final states in association with scalar mesons as they relate to the identification of the scalar glueball.

This contribution concerns the training course that the Astrophysics Group of the University of Salento proposed to the students of the Piano Lauree Scientifiche for the school year 2019–2020. Since the first edition of the Piano Lauree Scientifiche - Fisica of the University of Salento, the proposal of the Astrophysics Laboratory has been varied and every year different topics have been addressed, developing new methodologies for a more attractive teaching and a better education guidance. Arousing great interest from students, this year the proposal of the Astrophysics Group was dedicated to Planetology with a direct laboratory experience focused on the simulation and analysis of impact craters. After an introduction on the minor bodies of the Solar System and on the impact crater physics, the students digitally processed images of the Moon’s surface with a dedicated software, obtained the necessary information for the subsequent calculation of the involved physical parameters, and finally processed the results, comparing them with those reported in the literature.

BABAR detector - Abstract
We study the processes e+e-→π+π-π0π0π0π0γ and π+π-π0π0π0ηγ in which an energetic photon is radiated from the initial state. The data were collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. About 7300 and 870 events, respectively, are selected from a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 469 fb-1. The invariant mass of the hadronic final state defines the effective e+e- center-of-mass energy. The center-of-mass energies range from threshold to 4.5 GeV. From the mass spectra, the first ever measurements of the e+e-→π+π-π0π0π0π0 and the e+e-→π+π-π0π0π0η cross sections are performed. The contributions from ωπ0π0π0, ηπ+π-π0, ωη, and other intermediate states are presented. We observe the J/ψ and ψ(2S) in most of these final states and measure the corresponding branching fractions, many of them for the first time.

The NA62 experiment at CERN reports searches for $K^+\to\mu^+N$ and $K^+\to\mu^+\nu X$ decays, where $N$ and $X$ are massive invisible particles, using the 2016-2018 data set. The $N$ particle is assumed to be a heavy neutral lepton, and the results are expressed as upper limits of ${\cal O}(10^{-8})$ of the neutrino mixing parameter $|U_{\mu4}|^2$ for $N$ masses in the range 200-384 MeV/$c^2$ and lifetime exceeding 50 ns. The $X$ particle is considered a scalar or vector hidden sector mediator decaying to an invisible final state, and upper limits of the decay branching fraction for $X$ masses in the range 10-370 MeV/$c^2$ are reported for the first time, ranging from ${\cal O}(10^{-5})$ to ${\cal O}(10^{-7})$. An improved upper limit of $1.0\times 10^{-6}$ is established at 90% CL on the $K^+\to\mu^+\nu\nu\bar\nu$ branching fraction., Comment: Updated version published as Phys.Lett. B816 (2021) 136259

We study the processes e+e-→2(π+π-)π0π0π0γ and 2(π+π-)π0π0ηγ in which an energetic photon is radiated from the initial state. The data were collected with the BABAR detector at SLAC. About 14 000 and 4700 events, respectively, are selected from a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 469 fb-1. The invariant mass of the hadronic final state defines the effective e+e- center-of-mass energy. The center-of-mass energies range from threshold to 4.5 GeV. From the mass spectra, the first ever measurements of the e+e-→2(π+π-)π0π0π0 and the e+e-→2(π+π-)π0π0η cross sections are performed. The contributions from ωπ+π-π0π0, η2(π+π-), and other intermediate states are presented. We observe the J/ψ and ψ(2S) in most of these final states and measure the corresponding branching fractions, many of them for the first time.

Future liquid-argon DarkSide-20k and ARGO detectors, designed for direct dark matter search, will be sensitive also to core-collapse supernova neutrinos, via coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering. This interaction channel is flavor-insensitive with a high-cross section, enabling for a high-statistics neutrino detection with target masses of $\sim$50~t and $\sim$360~t for DarkSide-20k and ARGO, respectively. Thanks to the low-energy threshold of $\sim$0.5~keV$_{nr}$ achievable by exploiting the ionization channel, DarkSide-20k and ARGO have the potential to discover supernova bursts throughout our galaxy and up to the Small Magellanic Cloud, respectively, assuming a 11-M$_{\odot}$ progenitor star. We report also on the sensitivity to the neutronization burst, whose electron neutrino flux is suppressed by oscillations when detected via charged current and elastic scattering. Finally, the accuracies in the reconstruction of the average and total neutrino energy in the different phases of the supernova burst, as well as its time profile, are also discussed, taking into account the expected background and the detector response., 21 pages, 8 figures

- Abstract
We study the processes γγ→ηc→η′K+K−, η′π+π−, and ηπ+π− using a data sample of 519 fb−1 recorded with the BABAR detector operating at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e− collider at center-of-mass energies at and near the ϒ(nS) (n=2, 3, 4) resonances. This is the first observation of the decay ηc→η′K+K− and we measure the branching fraction Γ(ηc→η′K+K−)/(Γ(ηc→η′π+π−)=0.644±0.039stat±0.032sys. Significant interference is observed between γγ→ηc→ηπ+π− and the nonresonant two-photon process γγ→ηπ+π−. A Dalitz plot analysis is performed of ηc decays to η′K+K−, η′π+π−, and ηπ+π−. Combined with our previous analysis of ηc→KK¯π, we measure the K0*(1430) parameters and the ratio between its η′K and πK couplings. The decay ηc→η′π+π− is dominated by the f0(2100) resonance, also observed in J/ψ radiative decays. A new a0(1700)→ηπ resonance is observed in the ηc→ηπ+π− channel. We also compare ηc decays to η and η′ final states in association with scalar mesons as they relate to the identification of the scalar glueball.

247. A new digital health tool for the telemonitoring of patients with scleroderma during iloprost administration: a feasibility and acceptability study.

- Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To assess the feasibility of a new device for telemonitoring vital parameters during iloprost infusion. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In a pilot study, patients with systemic sclerosis received iloprost infusion while being telemonitored with Umana T1 Heart Monitor, within the hospital, under the supervision of family/community nurses and rheumatologists. Patients were administered a questionnaire to obtain information on satisfaction, practicability, and compliance with the new monitoring device. RESULTS: Data recorded by the device for blood pressure, heart rate, and oximetry were concordant with those registered directly by nurses. Most patients found the device useful and thought it could be used at home, even while working. CONCLUSIONS: Umana Heart Monitor T1 could be a valuable aid in at-home iloprost therapy in patients with systemic sclerosis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Congenital CMV infection (cCMV) is the most common congenital infection with 10–15% of cases developing symptomatic disease. Early antiviral treatment is of essence when symptomatic disease is suspected. Recently, the use of neonatal imaging has been implicated as a prognostic tool for long term sequalae among asymptomatic newborns at high risk. Even though neonatal MRI is commonly used in neonatal symptomatic cCMV disease, it is less often used in asymptomatic newborns, mainly due to cost, access and difficulty to perform. We have therefore developed an interest in assessing the use of fetal imaging as an alternative. Our primary aim was to compare the fetal and neonatal MRIs in a small cohort 10 asymptomatic neonates with congenital CMV infection. We performed a single-center retrospective cohort study (case-series) on a convenience sample of children born from January 2014 to March 2021 with confirmed congenital CMV infection who had undergone both fetal and neonatal MRIs. We created a checklist of relevant cerebral abnormalities and asked 4 blinded radiologists to assess the MRIs (2 for each, namely fetal and neonatal) and then compared the findings between the fetal and neonatal imaging as well as the concordance in reporting of abnormalities within each category. Overall concordance between prenatal and postnatal scans was high (70%). When comparing the two blinded reports for each MRI, we found high levels of concordance: 90% concordance for fetal MRIs and 100% for neonatal MRIs. The most common abnormalities identified in both fetal and neonatal scans were "abnormal white matter hyperintensity" and "subependymal cysts." Even though this is a small descriptive study, it indicates that fetal MRI could potentially provide us with similar information as neonatal imaging. - Abstract
DarkSide uses a dual-phase Liquid Argon Time Projection Chamber (TPC) to search for WIMP dark matter. The paper will present the latest result on the search for low mass (MW IMP < 20 Gev/c2) and high mass (MW IMP > 100 Gev/c2) WIMPs from the current experiment, DarkSide-50, running since mid 2015 a 50-kg-active-mass TPC, filled with argon from an underground source. The next stage of the DarkSide program will be a new generation experiment involving a global collaboration from all the current Argon based experiments. DarkSide-20k, is designed as a 20-tonne fiducial mass TPC with SiPM based photosensors, expected to be free of any background for an exposure of >100 ton x years. Like its predecessor DarkSide-20k will be housed at the Gran Sasso (LNGS) underground laboratory, and it is expected to attain a WIMP-nucleon cross section exclusion sensitivity of 10−47 cm2 for a WIMP mass of 1 TeV /c2 in a 5 yr run. A subsequent objective, towards the end of the next decade, will be the construction of the ultimate detector, ARGO, with a 300 t fiducial mass to push the sensitivity to the neutrino floor region for high mass WIMPs. The combination of the three experiments, part of a single family, will cover completely the WIMP hypothesis from 1 GeV /c2 to several hundreds of TeV /c2 masses.

- Abstract
In 2007, Società Italiana di Ecocardiografia e CardioVascular Imaging (SIECVI) already SIEC, published the document on the organization of echocardiography in Italy. In the years following the technological evolution, cultural and health factors have changed 'the way, we do echo' as a tool for the different clinical pathways. The SIECVI Accreditation Area and Board 2017-2019 considered necessary to review and update the document in the light of innovation in the application of ultrasound for the heart disease assessment. In the document, we have considered the role of SIECVI in multimodal imaging, the need of training and certification of operators, the quality of echo machines, the accreditation of laboratories, the compilation of the report and its responsibility, and the presence of the sonographers in the EchoLab.
