This paper reports new data on the age of picrites in the Lysogorsk complex, which are common in the Taratash metamorphic complex (Bashkir Meganticlinorium, the western slope of the Southern Urals). Based on Sm–Nd dating (1409 ± 89 Ma) and calculated data on the crystallization pressure and the temperature of mineral parageneses, it is concluded that picrites belong to the initial type of magmatism, which characterizes the initial stages of the Mashak magmatic event.

The bulk chemical composition of synrift sandstones and associated mudstones is analyzed. Distribution of their fields in the discriminant paleogeodynamic diagrams SiO2–K2O/Na2O (Roser and Korsch, 1986) and DF1–DF2 (Verma and Armstrong-Altrin, 2013) is examined. In terms of the bulk chemical composition, the sandstones correspond mainly to graywackes, litites, arkoses, and subarkoses. The samples also include sublitites and quartz arenites, as well as a significant part of psammites (with log(Na2O/K2O less than –1.0) that are lacking in Pettijohn’s classification diagram. This fact supports our conclusion based on the results of mineralogical-petrographic studies: the sedimentary infill of riftogenic structures combines immature sandstones, clastic framework of which is derived from local provenances represented by diverse igneous and sedimentary rocks. Synrift mudstones, relative to sandstones, are composed of a more mature clastic material. Distribution of data points of mudstones in diagram F1–F2 (Roser and Korsch, 1988) suggests that they were sourced mainly from sedimentary rocks. Contents of the majority of main rock-forming oxides in synrift sandstones are almost similar to those in silty–sandy rocks of the Upper Precambrian–Phanerozoic sedimentary megacomplex in the Russian Plate, but differ from contents in the average Proterozoic and Phanerozoic cratonic sandstones, as well as the average composition in the upper continental crust. It is shown that the distribution of synrift sandstones and mudstones in diagram SiO2–K2O/Na2O lacks any prominent features, and their data points cluster in the fields of terrigenous rocks of passive and active continental margins. In diagram DF1–DF2, fields of the studied psammites and mudstones occur in zones of the riftogenic and collisional settings. We believe that the boundary between these zones in the diagram occupies a different position, and this suggestion needs further examination.

The paper analyzes the bulk chemical composition and distribution of the fields of syn-rift clayey rocks on a number of discriminant paleogeodynamic diagrams. It is shown that, in general, there are significant variations in the bulk chemical composition for syn-rift clayey rocks. Thus, for example, the average SiO2 content varies from 44.74 to 66.42 wt. %, the average content of Al2O3 varies from 16.62 to 29.92 wt. %, and the K2Oaver are in the range 0.24 ... 5.77 wt. %. Based on the distribution of the figurative points of the syn-rift clayey rocks of various objects/riftogenous structures in the F1–F2 diagram, it can be assumed that the sources of fine aluminosilicoclastic were magmatic and sedimentary rocks of a wide range of compositions. The substantial overlap of the fields of various objects in the classification diagrams [(Na2O + K2O)/Al2O3]–[(Fe2O3tot + MgO)/SiO2] and K/Al–Mg/Al indicates, in general, the similarity of the compositions of the syn-rift fine-grained clastic rocks of various types of riftogenic structures. The localization of the composition fields of the clayey rocks of different riftogenous structures on such discriminant paleogeodynamic diagrams as K2O/Na2O–SiO2/Al2O3 and SiO2–K2O/Na2O suggests that they do not allow correctly distinguishing between syn-rift clayey rocks and fine-grained rosks of other geodynamic environments. The position of the syn-rift clayey rocks fields presented in our database on the diagram DF1–DF2 has its own characteristics. In most cases, they occupy a particular position in the areas characterizing collision and rifting environments, and a number of fields are located in all three classification areas of this diagram. A significant part of the midpoints of the syn-rift clayey rocks is localized in the DF1–DF2 diagram in the collision field. It seems that all of the above indicates that the DF1–DF2 diagram also does not allow us to obtain a correct information about the geodynamic nature of terrigenous associations.

The results of the study of the influence of Cu on the Shubnikov–de Haas effect and the electrical properties of p-Sb2 –xCuxTe3 single crystals (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.1) are presented. In the framework of the parabolic model of the energy spectrum, the hole concentrations and the Fermi energy in Sb2 –xCuxTe3 are calculated based on the oscillation frequencies of the magnetoresistance. It is shown that doping by Cu has an acceptor effect and significantly increases the frequencies of Shubnikov–de Haas oscillations. A plateau is observed in the dependences of the Hall resistance on magnetic field. The dependences of the resistance on temperature obey the power law with the exponent m = 1.2, which is characteristic of scattering on phonons with the contribution of scattering on ionized impurities. Unlike other impurities, the exponent remains almost unchanged when doped by Cu to the maximum concentrations studied.

Subject and ppurpose. In this paper, the spatial-energy characteristics of laser beams with inhomogeneous spatial polarization with their moderate and sharp focusing are theoretically investigated. In the numerical simulation of focusing of wave laser beams in the terahertz range, laser resonator modes based on a circular metal waveguide were used as the radiation under study. These modes coincide with the proper types of oscillations of such a waveguide. For the calculation, we selected symmetric and asymmetric modes with azimuthal, radial, and complex spatial polarization of the field. Methods and methodology. In the study of the propagation of the components of the electric field of laser radiation in free space, Rayleigh-Sommerfeld integrals were used in the nonparaxial approximation. The effect of the focusing lens on the radiation under study was taken into account using the function of amplitude-phase correction. The transverse distributions of the total field intensity and its individual components of the studied resonant modes in the region of the minimum size of the focal spot of focused radiation beams were studied. Results. Wave beams with inhomogeneous spatial polarization of radiation are necessary for solving important fundamental and applied problems. These tasks are associated with the interaction of electromagnetic waves of the terahertz range with matter. For example, diagnostics of the surface of materials, thin films, biological objects, THz transmission systems and information processing, the achievement of subwave resolution THz tomography, terahertz communication systems, etc. The results of studies of focusing features in the terahertz range are practically absent. A theoretical study was made of the physical features of moderate and sharp focusing of laser beams of radiation excited by the modes of a resonator with a circular metal waveguide with different spatial polarization of the field. The results obtained extend knowledge of the focusing features of terahertz laser beams. Conclusions. The physical features of the spatial-energy characteristics are established with moderate and sharp focusing in free space of radiation beams with different spatial polarization of the field. These beams were excited by laser resonator modes based on a circular metal waveguide in the terahertz range.

Research subject. This article presents the results of a study undertaken to investigate the systematics of rare-earth elements (REE), Y, Th, U and Mn in the Upper Devonian conodonts of the Western Ural region of the foreland fold of the Southern Urals (Askyn and Makarovo horizons, Kukkarauk, Ryauzyak and Lemezinsky sections).Methods. The conodonts were isolated from carbonate rocks using the conventional method of their dissolution in organic acids, mainly formic acid. Sample preparation and mass spectrometric analysis were carried out in the class 1000 and 10 000 cleanroom facilities of the Zavaritsky Institute of Geology and Geochemistry. A PerkinElmer ELAN 9000 quadrupole ICP mass-spectrometer was used to determine the concentration of the trace elements under study. Sm and Nd isotope ratios were measured from a 3% nitric acid solution by a Thermo Fischer Neptune Plus multicollector inductively coupled plasma mass-spectrometer. The long-term reproducibility and accuracy of the measurement procedure were evaluated using a standard Merck Nd solution based on the NIST Nd2O3 and yielded 143Nd/144Nd = 0.511720 ± 15 (1 SD, n = 40).Results. The established features of PAAS-normalised lanthanide distributions in the conodont bulk samples (10.4–21.8 mg), Ce-anomalies, high REE values (173–1211 ppm) and a number of other parameters indicate the leading role of late diagenetic processes in the formation of conodont REE systematics. This is also evidenced by the Y/Ho values (≈26–32) specific for the studied conodont samples.Conclusions. In general, the distribution of lanthanides in the conodonts suggests that this process was mainly controlled by a lithogenic (from 90 to more than 99%) REE source. The εNd (t) (–4.0…–2.8) values characteristic of the cono donts of the Askyn and Makarovo horizons suggest that their Nd isotopic composition was either formed under the influence of the open ocean (island arc basin), characterised by a significant share of radiogenic Nd, or due to the entry of radiogenic waters of the ocean into the shelf zone at the peak of the marine transgression that took place in the region under consideration in the Famennian.

Currently, invasive species spreading is becoming a key problem on the global scale. Scope of invasive species control get solved at governmental level in many countries; hundreds of billions dollars a year are allocated as financial support; global programs are created. For the first time, biological control of invasive species Ambrosia artemisiifolia using an introduced phytophage insect was applied in Russia (former USSR) in the 60-70s years of the 20th century and it remains a unique large-scale example until to nowadays. Ambrosia leaf beetle ( Zygogramma suturalis (Fabricius, 1775) was brought to the Russian Far East for biological control of Ambrosia artemisiifolia in the 80-90s years of the 20th century for the first time, however the targeted result was not achieved. At present, Zygogramma suturalis were adapted at the Primorskii Krai in the south of the Far East, but due to climatic conditions its numbers are low and, as a result, the impact on ambrosia is minimal. The search for native insect species with capable of effectively suppressing the spread of aggressive quarantine weed in local conditions remains in the area of focus. At the moment, two species of native leaf beetles have been identified, using Ambrosia as an additional element in the diet. Climate changes and the shift of biogeographic boundaries cause the natural expansion of the areals of some East Asian insect species to the north within the Russian Far East. Bug-edge Molipteryx fuliginosa (Uhler, 1860) is one of such species. Expanding the area to the north and east, the species also corrects trophic preferences. As a result of our research in the south of Primorskii Krai, the trophic relations of Molipteryx fuliginosa were studied in the field conditions and in rearing cages. The same work was carried out in places where Ambrosia artemisiifolia were growing in a great number. For insects observing were used standard methods. As a result, firstly was established and confirmed that the bug-edge uses Ambrosia artemisiifolia as a feed plant only in select developmental stages, including imago. The feeding of larvae of IV – V ages was noted in natural conditions. The long-time Molipteryx fuliginosa development cycle on ambrosia leads to break the course of normal plant ontogenesis and causes wilting of individual organs.

The isotopic characteristics ((Nd, 207Pb/206Pb, and 87Sr/86Sr) of the modern bottom sediments sampled in the Barents Sea during the 67th voyage of the R/V “Akademik Mstislav Keldysh” are considered. It is shown that the major contribution to the formation of the sediments in the central Barents Sea is made by rocks of the North European continental margin, which are found in the zone of influence of the North Cape Current. The values of (Nd, and 87Sr/86Sr are lower in the bottom sediments of this part of the sea than the corresponding characteristics of sedimentary material incorporated into ices and carried by the Transpolar Drift Stream. This allows one to conclude that such material has not contributed much to the sedimentation in the Barents Sea.

The Co, Hf, Ce, Cr, Th, and REE systematics are analyzed for modern sediments collected by a bottom grab during the 67th and 68th cruises of R/V “Akademik Mstislav Keldysh” and samples taken in the Barents Sea bays and inlets. Our results indicate that most modern bottom sediments are composed of fine silicoclastic material enhanced with a suspended matter of the North Cape current, which erodes the western coast of Scandinavia, and due to bottom erosion of some marine areas, as well as erosion of rock complexes of the Kola Peninsula, Novaya Zemlya, and Franz Josef Land (local provenances). Material from Spitsbergen also probably played a certain role. In the southern part of the Barents Sea, clastic material is supplied by the Pechora River.

The results of U–Pb-isotopic dating of detrital zircons from sandstones of the Proterozoic Pogor`uy Fm. from the northern and southern parts of the Eastern-Angara block of the Yenisei Ridge are presented. The sandstones of the northern part of the Eastern-Angara block are dominated by the Archean and Paleoproterozoic populations of detrital zircons, while in the samples from the southern part of the Eastern-Angara block up to 25% of the Mesoproterozoic age grains have been fixed. The dates of detrital zircons allow us to constrain the maximum sedimentary age of the Pogor`uy Fm. and the entire interval of its formation as 1.2–0.9 Ga. The paleogeographic features of the formation of the Pogor`uy Fm. in the context of existing views on a location of Siberia within the Rodinia supercontinent are considered.

The spectroscopic and laser characteristics of two benzopyrane derivatives for 600–670 nm spectrum region of lasing in preliminarily annealed silica xerogel matrices in non-selective cavity under laser pumping at 551 nm have been measured and analysed. The influence of molecular structure of the dyes on their non-radiating losses has been revealed. The specific output laser energy of the studied matrices was approximately equal to the ones for corresponding methanol solutions under the same pumping conditions. The laser spectra of the matrices were displaced to the red region from the fluorescence maximum by about 1000–1500 cm−1 in a nonselective cavity. Such spectral displacement may improve the characteristics of biosensors made on the basis of these matrices because it shifts their emission spectrum to the range of deeper penetration into biological tissues.

Sharp changes in the biodiversity of fossil organisms in the Upper Vendian of the East European Platform are considered as the manifestation of global crisis immediately prior to the “Cambrian Explosion.” However, they could be caused by local environmental perturbations. Variations of some lithogeochemical indicators of depositional environment (indicators of paleoclimate, exhalation activity, redox settings, and paleobioproductivity) were analyzed in order to establish the possible influence of sedimentary systems on evolutionary processes in the Late Vendian and at the boundary with the Cambrian. The applied algorithm of lithogeochemical studies revealed no significant perturbations in physical properties of the environment on a scale of sedimentary basins. The obtained data suggest that local factors did not affect the evolution of Ediacaran biota on the East European Platform and confirm the global nature of transitions between the Redkinian, Belomorian, and Kotlinian biotas.

The results of U–Pb-isotopic dating of detrital zircons from sandstones of the Proterozoic Pogor’uy Formation, occurring to the north and south of the East Angara block of Yenisei Ridge, are presented. The sandstones of the northern part of the East Angara block are dominated by Archean and Paleoproterozoic populations of detrital zircons, while the samples from the southern part of the East Angara block have been revealed up to 25% of Mesoproterozoic age grains. The detrital zircon ages allow limiting the maximum sedimentary age of the Pogor’uy Fm. and the entire interval of its formation to 1.2–0.9 Ga. The paleogeographic features of the Pogor’uy Fm. deposition in the context of the existing opinions on the location of Siberia within the Rodinia supercontinent were examined.

The results of studying the photoelectric characteristics of an nBn structure are presented. The photodiodes based on such structures may have a cutoff wavelength as high as 5 μm. Calculations based on these results show that such photodiodes have a threshold photosensitivity comparable with that of traditional analogs. An energy band diagram of the nBn structure is proposed based on experimental results and theoretical estimations; this diagram makes it possible to estimate the effect of potential barriers in the valence band of the wide-gap layer and at its boundaries with narrow-gap layers on the nBn-based photodiode sensitivity. The experimental results of studying the dependence of the photocurrent thermal-activation energy on the photodiode bias turned out to be important for developing the model.

According to several reports, the presence of transition metal elements in the atmosphere was associated with adverse health effects. The purpose of this investigation was to analyze the presence of transition metal particles with atomic numbers 22–29 on some medicinal plants (n = 22) from various regions of the Republic of Tajikistan and their content in the atmosphere. Samples (n = 43) of individual plant organs, such as seeds, flowers, leaves, trunks, and plant roots, were examined for their elemental composition using X-ray fluorescence analysis. Selection of particles contained in the atmosphere was carried out for 24 h/3 days by the aspiration method using fiberglass filters GF 10 in an apparatus installed at an altitude of 864 m on the periphery of the capital. For the analysis of plant samples, measurements were carried out on a SPECTROSCAN MAX-G wave-dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer. For samples containing filtered atmosphere elements, a high-resolution PANanalytical Epsilon 5 high-resolution energy-dispersive spectrometer was used. Eight transition elements from the 1st main series of metals with atomic numbers 22–29, such as titanium, vanadium, chromium, manganese, iron, cobalt nickel, and copper, were found in plant organs, as well as in the atmosphere samples. Our results showed that the distribution of metals on plants varied depending on plants and their organs. We did not find any correlation between the region of plant collection and their absorption of metal elements. The distribution of metals varied in various plant organs. In the atmosphere samples, we found all the metals that were found in plants. In conclusion, medicinal plants can adsorb and accumulate some harmful chemical elements in their organs, are involved in the recirculation of these metals, and contribute air pollution.

Public–private partnership ,Business ,Public administration - Abstract
In recent years, cooperation between the state and private business is one of the prerequisites for implementing the strategy of economic development of Ukraine's economy. The separation of forms and models of public-private partnership depending on the industry, type of partnership and form of socio-economic significance of projects will ensure the creation of a platform for the formation of national competitiveness. The purpose of the article is to identify and analyze domestic and foreign models of public-private partnership, the formation of prospects, priority areas for their implementation and realization. To achieve this goal, a set of general scientific methods is used: theoretical generalization - to determine the nature and content of public-private partnership models, the method of scientific abstraction - to identify areas of application of models of cooperation between government and business, comparison - to identify models -logical - for theoretical generalization and formulation of conclusions. The analysis and generalization of public-private partnership models revealed the content of their classification proposed by the World Bank and taking into account the basic principles of risk sharing between the state and the private sector: "Management and lease contracts", "Concessions", "Projects from scratch" "And" Transfer of assets ". It is noted that the main PPP models used in the implementation of infrastructure projects in the European Union differ slightly from the above classification, mostly in the degree of involvement and transfer of project risks from the state to the private sector. The main models of public-private partnership in the European Union are analyzed, which according to the study include: service contract; management and operation contract; lease agreement; turnkey construction; design, construction, financing and operation. It is studied that in the United States three models of PPP are most often used: design and construction; design, construction and operation / maintenance; construction, operation and transmission. It is proved that for the full effect for the national economy it is necessary to implement the characteristic features of several of the analyzed models of public-private partnership. A promising area of research is the need to improve approaches to implementing the principles of public-private partnership, given the study of structural classification of forms and models, the etymology of the concept of partnership in dynamic economic conditions, and the uncertain realities of today.

- Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of experience of Anglo-American and continental legal system countries as to including the public into administration of justice as jurors. The studied form of criminal legal procedure is one of the most disputable, as it is dependent not only and not as much on the criminal-procedural legislation development, as on the condition of judicial system, its efficiency, democratization and humanization of criminal justice. Besides, the jury trial institution has not only legal but also social significance, because it is a form of the public control over observance of criminal law serving as a guarantee against abuse on the part of the state. The research objective is to comprehensively analyze the features of judicial investigation with participation of jurors in the Anglo-American and continental legal system countries, to reveal the positive experience, and to evaluate the possibility of its implementation in the Russian legal framework taking into account the dynamics of criminal-procedural legislation development. The leading research method is comparative-legal method used for studying the foreign legislation regulating the order of judicial investigation with participation of jurors. Analysis of the data on complicated form of judicial investigation is based on statistical method, and analyzing 32 criminal cases investigated by jury trial. It was concluded that the Russian model of judicial investigation with the jurors significantly differs from the foreign analogs; given the significant differences of the subject and structure, it can be defined as a composite one, combining the features of Anglo-American and continental law models. The article materials may serve as a basis for constructive academic discussion, for further insights into the issues of implementation of the citizens’ constitutional right for administering justice, and for elaboration of practical recommendations on implementation of Article 42 of the Russian Criminal-Procedural Code and clarification of certain normative provisions.

In a referencing scheme, some of the whispering gallery mode (WGM) sensors are functionalized for detecting particular substances and some are not functionalized for monitoring effects of unwanted perturbations. It is known that in principle the same perturbation can cause different shifts for WGM peaks with different polarizations and orders. We studied such effects using 2-D finite difference time domain (FDTD) modeling for sensing the index variations in the surrounding medium. Our results show that the assumption of referencing scheme that the sensing and reference resonators identically respond to the same perturbation holds only for the same order WGM subsets with the same polarization. This means that the application of referencing scheme requires identification of polarization and order of the WGM spectral peaks in sensing and reference resonators prior to sensing experiments.

The lithogeochemical features of gray, green and red clayey rocks and volcanic tuffs found among Vendian deposits of the western slope of the Middle Urals (Serebryanka Group, Koiva Formation; Sylvitsa Group, Starye pechi Formation, Chernyi Kamen Formation) are considered. The materials presented and their analysis make it possible to reasonably assume that clayey rocks of usual color and their red-colored varieties do not fundamentally differ in their characteristics. On the discriminant lithogeochemical diagrams, their data points form fields characterized by significant, if not almost complete, overlaps. Moreover, as follows from an analysis of the Strakhov and Bostrom module values, as well as the position of the data points on the (Y/Ho)PAAS–(Ce/Ce*)PAAS diagram, they do not contain exhalation components. The sources of the fine-grained aluminosilicoclastic material for clayey rocks of different colors were mainly acidic (magmatic?) rocks. Volcanic tuffs, on the contrary, are composed of material similar in composition to trachyandesites, andesites, and trachyandesibasalts. The data presented in the article give reason to believe that the red color of many clayey rocks present among the Vendian deposits of the Middle Urals is the result of pedogenic processes, as is expected for the red-colored rocks present among the Upper Riphean and Vendian deposits of the Southern Urals. On the other hand, some of the interlayers that we took in the field for volcanic tuffs, as previously assumed, can be ordinary sedimentary rocks, the color of which was changed by secondary processes (gleying, etc.), including modern ones.

Clinical examination of three-dimensional image data of compound anatomical objects, such as complex joints, remains a tedious process, demanding the time and the expertise of physicians. For instance, automation of the segmentation task of the TMJ (temporomandibular joint) has been hindered by its compound three-dimensional shape, multiple overlaid textures, an abundance of surrounding irregularities in the skull, and a virtually omnidirectional range of the jaw's motion - all of which extend the manual annotation process to more than an hour per patient. To address the challenge, we invent a new angle to the 3D segmentation task: namely, we propose to segment empty spaces between all the tissues surrounding the object - the so-called negative volume segmentation. Our approach is an end-to-end pipeline that comprises a V-Net for bone segmentation, a 3D volume construction by inflation of the reconstructed bone head in all directions along the normal vector to its mesh faces. Eventually confined within the skull bones, the inflated surface occupies the entire "negative" space in the joint, effectively providing a geometrical/topological metric of the joint's health. We validate the idea on the CT scans in a 50-patient dataset, annotated by experts in maxillofacial medicine, quantitatively compare the asymmetry given the left and the right negative volumes, and automate the entire framework for clinical adoption., Comment: 20 pages, 5 main figures, 3 tables, 11 supplemental figures, supplementary material

The existing problems regarding the phylogenetic resolution of Ediacaran macroscopic organisms stem from a failure to factor-in the information captured through different ‘taphonomic windows’. Here we integrate the information from sandstone- and limestone-hosted occurrences of the fossil Palaeopascichnus linearis that together show a conspicuously greater range of taxonomic and taphonomic variation. The limestone-hosted material comes from a new locality discovered on the northwestern slope of the Olenek Uplift in Arctic Siberia that characterises the uppermost Ediacaran strata of the Khatyspyt Formation, Khorbusuonka Group. Detailed taphonomic and morphodynamic studies of the fossil material revealed evidence of possible chamber wall agglutination and growth through addition of new chambers with little sideway growth. Palaeopascichnus linearis outlived the intra-Ediacaran (∼550 Myr ago) drop in species richness, the advent of bilaterians, and the increase in complexity of burrowing behaviour in metazoans. It remains to be seen whether or not the remarkable ecological success achieved by Palaeopascichnus linearis during the times of rich evolutionary experimentation has anything to do with the invention of an agglutinated test. Palaeopascichnus poses major scientific challenges, and it is now clear that such preservation as occurs in Siberia may hold the answer to what they were, how they lived and what they were related to.

The article briefly describes the lithochemical features of sandstones and clayey rocks of Mashak Formation (Southern Urals), a second synrift volcano-sedimentary association in Riphean stratotype. It is shown that the sandstones of the Mashak Formation are characterised by wide variations in the bulk chemical composition (from greywacke to quartz arenite). The presence of the latter, as well as a relatively small proportion of arkoses and subarkoses, distinguishes the second synrift association from the first one (the Ai Formation, Lower Riphean). There is no overlap in between the Mashak’s and Ai’s psammites on the diagram log(SiO2/Al2O3)–log(Na2O/K2O) of F. J. Pettijon and co-authors. It indicates significant differences in provenances and common features of accumulation of the Mashak and Ai formations. On the basis of bulk chemical composition, the clayey rocks of the Mashak Formation are related to smectite (with kaolinite and illite admixture) clays and their chlorite-smectiteillite varieties. The clayey rocks of the Ai Formation differ by lower values of total normative alkalinity (0.27 ± 0.06 vs. 0.42 ± 0.07). It is established that sandstones and clayey rocks of the Mashak Formation contain a significant proportion of the “first-cycle material”, i. e. they are composed mainly by products that have passed one sedimentation cycle. As opposite, there is a significant proportion of “second-cycle/lithogenic material” of the first synrift sandstones association (the Ai Formation). The high K2O/Na2O values, which are characterised for a halfstudied samples of the Mashak Formation, indicate that they were influenced by processes of potassium metasomatism. The distribution of data points of terrigenous rock of the Mashak Formation on diagram F1—F2 (Roser and Korsch, 1988) displays that they are composed by products of erosion of acid, average or mafic igneous and/or metamorphic rocks. The individual data points of Mashak Formation terrigenous rocks, as well as sandstone compositionmidpoint, are localised in the areas of riftogenic and collisional settings on the DF1—DF2 diagram (Verma and Armstrong-Altrin, 2013). It does not allow us to define their paleogeodynamic settings. In such a manner, the a critical role, traditionally, remains on general geological data and petrogeochemical characteristics of igneous rocks.

The paper discusses the geochemical and Sr–Nd–Pb-isotope data on ice-rafted sediments (IRS) from different areas of the Arctic Ocean. Samples were collected during the Cruise of R/V Polarstern between Spitsbergen and North Pole, Yermak Plateau, as well as in Fram Strait. It is shown that the studied IRS samples in terms of LaN/YbN and eNd values are close to the composition of suspended particulate matter (SPM) from the mouth parts of large rivers and rivers transporting the sedimentary erosion products. This also follows from their Th/Sc, Th/Co, La/Sc, La/Sm, Sc/Th ratios and Sc content and from the position of their data points in the Sc–Th/Sc, La/Sc–Th/Co, and La/Sm–Sc/Th diagrams between the average SPM compositions of the Ob and Lena rivers. The values of 207Pb/206Pb and eNd in IRS samples give grounds to suggest that the rock complexes of the European, North American, and Asian continental margins could be potential sources for this sedimentary material. In the 207Pb/206Pb–eNd diagram, the IRS samples from all three studied areas define a compact cluster and are mainly confined to the triangle with corners represented by the Mackenzie River, Okhotsk–Chukotka volcanic area, and Lena River, being closer to the latter. In the Sm/Nd–eNd diagram, IRS points also form a compact field, being located almost in the middle between the average SPM compositions of the Yenisei and Ob rivers, on the one hand, and Lena River, on the other. In all diagrams, IRS samples from the different West Arctic areas show no significant scatter. With allowance for the fact that sediments are not subjected to significant homogenization during ice rafting, sediments from all three areas were obtained from a common source. As seen from the position of IRS data points in the 87Sr/86Sr–eNd diagram, this source was the Asian continental margin.

The results of studying the structure and mineral composition of the Upper Holocene bottom sediments of Lake Onega are presented. It is established that there are two types of columns of bottom sediments, for which stratification of layers and formation of Fe–Mn crusts are determined by the diagenesis processes occurring under physicochemical conditions of sediment accumulation according to two scenarios. The distribution spectra of rare-earth elements (REEs) are different in the indicated types of columns, which is apparently attributed to the differences in the oxidation–reduction conditions at the water–sediment interface during the formation of REEs and possibly to the influence of hydrothermal processes.
