Background Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PNET) are rare, with a significant malignant potential. This study aimed to determine outcomes of patients with resected PNETs according to the cystic component and confirm the accuracy of preoperative staging. Methods From 1997 to 2016, 106 patients underwent resection of PNETs, including 73 purely solid (S-PNETs, 69%), 21 mixed (M-PNETs, 20%), and 12 purely cystic lesions (C-PNETs, 11%). To ensure consistent comparisons of overall (OS) and disease-free (DFS) survival outcomes between the 3 groups, the patients were matched according to the World Health Organization (WHO) grade and tumor height. Results Overall, the rate of correlation between the preoperative and pathological diagnoses was low in the C-PNET group (33%, P = 0.03). None of the 24 patients (23%) with metastatic disease at the time of surgery were in the C-PNET group. Furthermore, significantly more parenchyma-sparing resections (P = 0.039) and fewer enlarged resections (P = 0.019) were achieved in the C-PNET group. C-PNET group had a significantly lower node invasion rate than the S-PNET and M-PNET groups (8% vs. 41% and 24%, P = 0.004). Although median OS was comparable in all 3 groups before (P = 0.3) and after (P = 0.18) matching, higher median DFS was observed in the C-PNET group than in the other groups after matching (P = 0.038). Conclusion C-PNET was associated with a better prognosis than PNET with a solid component. The results support a wait-and-see policy in cases wherein a reliable preoperative diagnosis remains challenging.

One-anastomosis gastric bypass/mini-gastric bypass (OAGB/MGB) remains controversial because it may cause chronic biliary reflux (BR). The risk of developing esogastric cancer due to BR after OAGB/MGB is based on the results of experimental rat studies using esojejunostomy (EJ). The aim of this study was to analyze the potential long-term consequences of BR on the esogastric mucosae in OAGB/MGB-operated rats and to compare these results to those from the use of EJ. Wistar rats received OAGB/MGB (n = 16), EJ (n = 16), and sham (n = 8) operations. Mortality and weight changes were evaluated throughout the experiment. BR was measured using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Rats received follow-ups for 30 weeks. A double-blinded histological analysis was performed in the esogastric segments. BR was diagnosed in OAGB/MGB and EJ rats using the MRI technique; no BR occurred in the sham group. After a 30-week follow-up, no incidences of dysplasia or cancer were observed in the three groups. Additionally, esophageal intestinal metaplasia and mucosal ulcerations were observed in 41.7% and 50% of EJ rats, respectively, and no incidences of these conditions were observed in OAGB/MGB and sham rats. Wildlife and Traffic is a solution-orientated handbook focused on providing practical guidance about measures to mitigate habitat fragmentation due to transportation infrastructures. It is based on the first European handbook on the topic that was published in 2003 as the main output of the Cost 341 Project promoted by the Infrastructure and Ecology Network Europe (IENE), which is now leading a cooperative process to update the handbook.

Two kiln sites manufacturing Late Roman 1 amphorae at Soli-Pompeiopolis, Cilicia,were first located by J.-Y. Empereur and M. Picon in 1989. Twenty years later, abrief investigation was conducted at one of these locales, near the ancient harbour,referred to by Empereur and Picon as the ‘Soles-Ouest’ kiln site. Visual observationsand photography with a digital microscope enabled us to document the LR 1amphorae manufactured at Soli-Pompeoipolis. Since the samples collected exhibita homogeneous and characteristic fabric we can propose a preliminary chronotypology for their production at this site. Precise identification of local fabrics of LR 1amphorae produced throughout the region remains essential to any reconstruction ofthe maritime trade network that Soli and other Cilician cities were engaged in duringthe Late Roman period.

International audience; Cliff-top boulder deposits (CBDs) are morphological indicators of high-energy conditions. Since 2014, a monitoring of CBDs dynamics has been undertaken on the south-western coast of Iceland (Reykjanes Peninsula) to monitor their long-term activation (quarrying, transport and deposition) as a proxy of the inter-annual winter storminess variations and basaltic cliff erosion processes in a context of rocky coast progradation. Annual topomorphological surveys of four study sites were conducted and Structure-from-Motion photogrammetry was performed to quantify CBDs displacements. Hydrodynamic conditions were analyzed based on offshore waves and water level. Results show that CBDs activation occurs every winter, regardless of the variability of hydrodynamic conditions. Depending on the site and the year, more than 2% and 17% of the CBDs accumulated above 8 m to 10 m asl at the top of the cliffs are regularly mobilized. While inland movements represent the main mode of transport of blocks (between 50% to 60%), seaward and longshore movements are also well represented (10% to 20%). Longshore displacement is favored by the wide tabular morpho-structural setting of the wave-scour cliff-top platforms, which is explained by the structure of pāhoehoe lava flows. The activation of CBDs –measured from the volumes of displaced boulders–, shows a good correspondence with the frequency and duration of storms. However, as was the case during the winter of 2018-2019, it was rather the intensity of two highly morphogenic episodes combining storm waves and especially very high spring tide water levels, that generated the largest boulders displacements. Substantial interannual activation of the CBDs confirms that they constitute an important and still understudied proxy of the morphogenic system of high-energy rocky coasts, whose the dynamic in terms of carrying, transport, and deposition, could significantly increase with rising sea level.
