Architecture education is very important in the education of future architects and is defined by the combination of practical and theoretical coursework. Due to the pandemic conditions, online education is one of the available options for education. which faces many challenges. However, due to the prevalence of virtual education in the world, due to the corona disease in the world and the need for communication between the scientific fields and practical education, it is faced with the adverse effects in the form of numerous challenges and shortcomings. The purpose of this research is to extract concepts and dimensions. And the components of the challenges of online education of architectural design. Methods: This research is practical in terms of purpose. The research method used is a qualitative method, which was done with content analysis and coding of data collected by 12MAXQDA software. Then, from among the challenges based on the sub-components of online education challenges, the coding process is divided into two sections: general challenges; online education and specific challenges; Architectural design is taught online. Findings: Based on the review of 732 free codes in 26 code-oriented categories, 7 main concepts were reached, which include the challenges of the educational environment and educational facilities; the challenge of students' psychology; the impossibility of correction and solving students' problems; weakness in the way professors evaluate students' learning. For architectural design, the lack of understanding of the design concept and the students' ability to analyze and be creative to implement the design, the weak educational program and the content of intensive courses, and the weakness of the electronic infrastructure. Conclusion: According to the findings for these 26 code-based online architectural design training courses, which are based on various and different challenges, and improving its quality will increase the quality of virtual courses and requires a serious look for the training of future architect engineers. Background: Compelling evidence suggests that schools' infrastructure and policy represent potential predictors of health and physical activity (PA) in children and adolescents. However, the translation of these findings into practice has not been examined. This study investigated the activity friendliness of Austrian schools. Methods: Using a census sampling method, principals of Austrian schools (n = 342) were invited to participate in an online survey assessing 1) the availability of PA facilities (e.g. playgrounds, sports courts, swimming halls) and 2) applied PA policies (e.g. cooperation with sports clubs and involvement in PA projects). Results: A total of 130 principals answered the survey which corresponds to a minimal response rate of 38%. While most schools (87.4%, n = 111) had a gymnastic hall, only one third (37%, n = 47) had access to a swimming hall. On average, the schools had 4.2 ± 2 PA facilities with significant variation between school types (i.e., high schools: 5 ± 2 vs. primary schools: 3.5 ± 2, p < 0.05). The most common facilities were meadow areas (89%, n = 113), sports fields (71.7%, n = 91), and playgrounds (64.6%, n = 82). Almost half of the schools were part of a PA project (e.g. "active break", 45%, n = 56) and offered extracurricular PA programs and courses (54%, n = 67), but only one in five (22%, n = 27) regularly conducted fitness tests. PA policies varied between school types (p < 0.05) but almost all principals (94%, n = 117) would welcome a stronger promotion of activity friendliness at their school. Conclusion: Schools are mostly activity-friendly regarding infrastructure although the limited possibilities for swimming lessons seem worrisome. Aim: This study aimed to explore the perception of nursing students regarding their engagement in digital learning environments. Design: At one of universities in Saudi Arabia, a qualitative descriptive study design was used among nursing students from various academic levels. Methods: Data were collected using focus group discussions among a sample of 23 participants. Data were analysed using thematic analysis. The COREQ Standards for Reporting Qualitative Research were used to report this study. Results: While sharing their perceptions the nursing students reflected on the behavioural and cognitive aspects of engagement, yet they did not include emotional aspects of engagement in their conceptualization. However, the results showed that, while they reflected on their experiences they tended to reflect on emotional aspects of engagement. According to the study's results, self‐paced studying, reflective exercises, and interaction with audiovisual and dynamic content all encourage the activation of past knowledge in online learning. The learning modality also was found to be a safe and convenient approach among the participating students. Digital learning presents as a promising educational approach that extends beyond the pandemic yet, efforts should be put in place to facilitate the optimal student engagement to meet learning outcomes. When academic integrity is maintained not only in the framework of education but also in professionals’ lives, educational institutions have a moral commitment to generate graduates of high quality for the greater community. Graduates are expected to be both competent and ethical in their professional lives. This study builds on previous academic integrity research to delve into students’ ethical decision-making in real-world situations. During regular class time, undergraduate students from public and private universities in Surabaya, Indonesia, were surveyed (N=496). Using a twosample t-test approach, the current study found students’ perceptions of their ethical perspective and situations in the workplace differed from their perceptions of themselves in current academic environment. This finding is worrisome because students who perceive themselves as lacking moral consistency believe that they have strong ethical convictions. Even though there was evidence to back up Lawson’s claim that the usefulness of an action is more essential than its ethicality, a workplace ethical decision reveals an anomaly in the operation of ethical decision-making. This study highlights the significance of cultivating risk-related decision-making throughout the educational process and should be encouraged as positive stimulant that prepares students for the ethical difficulties of the professional world. Mainly, research has explored pre-service teachers’ perspectives toward cooperative learning within face-to-face teaching. However, in a postpandemic scenario, previous research has yet to effectively explore preservice teachers’ (PSTs) perspectives toward online cooperative learning (OCL) in teacher education programs. So, recognizing the gap in the literature, this paper aims to explore the perspectives of PSTs towards OCL. The researchers employed a qualitative research design for the present study. The researchers conducted semi-structured interviews with 10 PSTs who underwent OCL during the pandemic. These PSTs may possess digital proficiency, virtual collaboration abilities, flexibility in evolving educational environments, and an enhanced understanding of online cooperative learning methodologies within modern education. Researchers employed a thematic analysis to analyze the qualitative data obtained. The various themes that emerged from the study are perceived benefits of OCL, challenges to OCL, technological proficiency, learning strategies and support, and building a supportive online learning community. Future researchers may contribute to advancing effective online learning practices by gaining a deeper understanding of pre-service teachers’ perspectives towards OCL through research on a larger scale, including various teacher education programs in various countries. For schools to maintain their competitiveness and enhance the standards of their education, they need to implement innovative approaches that allow them to stay abreast of the constantly changing technological, economic, and social environment. The success of these innovative approaches in schools relies heavily on teachers’ innovative work behavior (IWB), and so the role of teachers in this regard is pivotal. It is therefore crucial to determine the factors that affect teachers’ IWB. Thus, the purpose of the current study was to investigate the relationship between teachers’ autonomy, schools’ innovation climate, and IWB. A sample of teachers (n=376) from 12 primary and secondary schools in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia, were surveyed through a questionnaire that was self-administered. Utilizing structural equation modelling with IBM AMOS version 24, schools’ innovation climate was found to have a full mediating role in the relationship between teachers’ autonomy and IWB. The findings suggest the important role of innovation climate in linking teachers’ autonomy to IWB and therefore have significant implications for school leaders. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study sought to develop an Academic School Climate Scale measuring students' perceptions of the learning environments at their schools. With a pilot sample of 1,265 students and validation sample of 14,773 students in Grades 4–12 in schools across the U.S., results of EFA and CFA supported a bifactor model with a general factor and three subscales: High Standards, Teacher Support of Student Learning, and Peer Support of Learning. We found scalar invariance by gender and race, and metric invariance by grade band. The present study contributes to the development of effective measures to evaluate classroom climate, especially in elementary education where these remain limited. In addition, it addresses a typical "flaw" of several studies by approaching classroom climate as a group-level construct rather than an individual characteristic. Following a multilevel approach, we attempted to establish validity evidence for an adapted version of the Classroom Behavioral Climate (CBC) questionnaire and examine its equivalence across two contexts. The participants included 2963 students from 176 fourth and fifth grade classes. Multilevel Confirmatory Factor Analyses resulted in a shorter version of the CBC with three correlated factors in both countries. Two-level models performed better than the single-level models. Configural, metric, and partial scalar invariance was also achieved. The study highlights the need for researchers and practitioners to use appropriate methods and instruments to evaluate the classroom environment based on their research aims and intended use. In the current era, the use of corpora in language teaching is mainly explored in English classes as it has become a trend in education. Hence, this research aimed to identify the corpus metadata, frequently used words, and unique words related to the Islamic boarding school context to be used in the English instructional process. This research employed a mixed method combining quantitative and qualitative data analysis methods. Two English Islamic boarding school books, several articles covering the scope of Islamic boarding school, and students' speech texts were selected as the data. Then, they were analyzed using the Voyant tool. The finding showed total words of 49,970: 5,417 specific words, 0.108 vocabulary density, and a 12,980-readability index. The finding will be incorporated into instructional resources for developing Islamic boarding school students' general and/or specialized vocabulary. The words, in particular, will provide a foundation for students in constructing Islamic speech texts, delivering speeches, and using English in an Islamic boarding school environment. The rise and growing prevalence of juvenile delinquency is a matter of concern for many parties. This study aims to establish a research instrument in the form of a questionnaire that can be deployed to assess the learning environment perceived by high school students. This research endeavor constitutes a developmental study, wherein the outcomes are a single survey instrument encompassing six variables, nineteen indicators, and forty questions. The data-collecting process involved the utilization of a Google Form across five schools in five districts, containing a total of 1615 participants. The analysis of expert data was conducted utilizing V. Aiken and field trials employing confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) Second Order. The findings of this study indicate that the diagnostic survey instrument used to assess the learning environment's impact on the mental health of high school students demonstrated validity, as evidenced by loading factor values exceeding the established minimal threshold. The reliability of the instrument remains insufficient. This survey can be utilized to detect adolescent persistent tendencies carried out by students or other school members that interfere with mental health: the emergence and significant raising of juvenile delinquency. There is growing support for the dual-continua model of mental health, which emphasizes psychopathology and well-being as related but distinct dimensions. Yet, little is known about how these dimensions co-develop from childhood to early adolescence and what factors predict their different trajectories. The current study aimed to identify distinct patterns of mental health in Chinese early adolescents, focusing on both psychopathological symptoms (i.e., depressive symptoms and self-harm behaviors) and subjective well-being (i.e., life satisfaction and affect balance). This study also examined the contributions of school climate and future orientation to these trajectories. A total of 1,057 students (Mage = 11.88, SDage = 1.67; 62.1% boys) completed four assessments over two years, with six-month intervals. Using parallel-process latent class growth modeling, we identified four groups: Flourishing (32.5%), Languishing (43.8%), Troubled with Stable Depressive Symptoms (16.1%), and Troubled with Increasing Self-Harm Risk (7.6%). Furthermore, school climate and future orientation contributed to adolescents' membership in these trajectories, either independently or jointly. Specifically, higher levels of future orientation combined with higher school climate were associated with a lower likelihood of belonging to the Troubled with Increasing Self-Harm Risk trajectory, compared to the Flourishing group. Our findings identified four distinct mental health trajectories consistent with the dual-continua model, and demonstrated that the development of psychopathology and well-being were not always inversely related (e.g., the Languishing group). Adolescents with unique developmental profiles may benefit from tailored intervention strategies that build on the personal and environmental assets of the adolescent. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: Although not often used in the area of speech and language instruction, performing arts (such as improvisation, instrumental, vocal, and dance performance) provide a context for self-expression that involves both structure and opportunities for self-expression and can offer an opportunity to contribute to a motivating activity in individual, unique ways. Method: We describe a semester-long performing arts class in which students from various majors and with and without developmental disabilities together learn various performing art forms (specifically, improvisation, vocal performance, and diverse forms of dance) for the first half of the semester. The students work together the second half of the semester to create a final performance. Student reflections that were gathered during one semester (with approval from the institutional review board) were examined descriptively to provide student perspectives into the program and to help understand how the structure supported interpersonal relations. Results: Student reflections suggested that the structure of learning the various performing arts resulted in establishment of authentic peer relationships through three pillars of friendship proposed by Finke (2016): (a) the opportunity to engage in fun and motivating activities, (b) the presence of repeated/multiple opportunities to engage in the activities together, and (c) the establishment of a safe environment where each individual's contribution added something of value to the activity. Conclusion: This descriptive analysis identified mechanisms by which performing arts can be a valuable context for supporting important social and communication goals in individuals with and without developmental disabilities. Strong and consistent findings suggest that a positive school climate is related to improved student outcomes. However, assessment of the school climate rarely considers the environmental fit (or misfit) between individuals' actual or lived experiences and their preferred environment. This study drew on a person-environment fit perspective to examine whether: students' experiences of the school climate (actual environment) differed from their views of their ideal school climate (preferred environment); the views of the actual and preferred environment differed between schools; and the actual–preferred discrepancy (as a measure of the environmental fit) was related to student wellbeing, resilience and reports of bullying. The results from the analysis of data collected from 993 upper primary school students suggest that outcomes were enhanced when the perceived environment more closely matched the preferred environment. Our study's findings support using a person-environment fit perspective alongside a socio-ecological approach to inform strategic decisions for school improvement efforts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article reports youths ´ interests and concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic by analyzing what Argentine students aged 12 to 18 years expressed within the 2020 edition of TED-Ed Clubs, an extracurricular school program aimed at developing and communicating an idea following a TED-talk format. Based on video recordings of a random sample of 100 students´ talks, we identified six recurring themes: 'current social affairs' such as gender equality and social media; 'Interpersonal relationships', focusing on adolescents´ bonds with peers and adults; 'rethinking lifestyles' such as the importance of developing healthy habits; 'sharing passions' typically describing activities about which they felt passionate, such as sports; 'self-discovery', which addressed introspective insights; and 'Pandemic' when referring to the current health crisis. In all cases, students aimed to engage and inspire their audience to reflect and act upon these issues. With the increasing diversity in society caused by migration processes, the heterogeneity of classrooms in educational institutions is increasing. Teachers face new challenges related to cultural diversity in a multicultural classroom. This is more common in societies with a diverse population and in societies where newcomers regularly enter schools. In order to facilitate the inclusion of newcomer children in the education system, more analysis of teachers' intercultural competence is needed. Intercultural competence is the teacher's ability to understand, adapt to and work effectively in different cultural and linguistic contexts in the pupils' environment. This competence includes the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to work successfully in a multicultural and multilingual classroom. The intercultural competence of a teacher is essential to create a positive and effective learning environment in which all pupils can learn and develop better, regardless of their cultural or linguistic background. Experience gained in working with newcomers is an important factor influencing teachers' self-assessment of their knowledge, skills and attitudes, and the results show that respondents with such experience rate their knowledge, skills and attitudes higher than respondents without such experience, while age, work experience, level of education and workplace do not show statistically significant differences for the parameters analyzed. The aim of this study is to analyze the structure of the intercultural competence of teachers and its pedagogical potential and characteristics for the activities of teachers in a multicultural educational environment in the context of migration processes, and to assess the readiness of teachers for the inclusion of newcomer children in the Latvian education system. Society is currently immersed in a highly digitalised panorama due to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The educational process is also in a period of constant technological change and renewal. The transformation of education and methodologies can bring positive benefits for students, but also inequalities. This study aims to analyse the perceptions of families of pupils aged 3–18 on how the use of technology influences their children's education in terms of emotions, barriers and needs. It is also intended to study whether the perceived barriers are determined by the underlying needs of the households and/or the emotions they experience from the use of technological resources. Finally, the consequences of perceived barriers on needs are studied. For this purpose, 720 parents completed an online questionnaire. The application of the Structural Equation Model reveals that negative emotions have a positive and significant effect on perceived barriers. On the other hand, a positive and significant effect of perceived barriers on expressed needs is found. The results of the research show the inequalities that ICT generate in the school environment, which are determined by the characteristics of the pupils' family context. Knowing about the situations and perceptions of families is a first step towards carrying out actions to break down barriers and meet needs, the ultimate goal of inclusive education. Educational buildings tend to fail in the contagion containment of airborne infectious diseases because of the high number of children, for several hours a day, inside enclosed environments that often have inadequate indoor air quality (IAQ) conditions. This study aimed to assess indoor environmental quality and test the effectiveness of portable air cleaners (PACs) in alleviating airborne particle levels in schools of Central–Southern Spain during the period of reopening after the lockdown due to the COVID-19 outbreak. To accomplish this, three sampling campaigns were organized from September to December 2020 to consistently monitor temperature and relative humidity, carbon dioxide, and particulate matter in nineteen classrooms (seven school buildings). Results showed that although the recommendation of maintaining the windows open throughout the day seemed to be effective in promoting, in general, proper ventilation conditions (based on CO2 levels). For the colder campaigns, this practice caused notorious thermal comfort impairment. In addition, a great number of the surveyed classrooms presented levels of PM2.5 and PM10, attributable to outdoor and indoor sources, which exceeded the current WHO guideline values. Moreover, considering the practice of having the windows opened, the installation of 1 unit of PACs per classroom was insufficient to ensure a reduction in particle concentration to safe levels. Importantly, it was also found that children of different ages at different education levels can be exposed to significantly different environmental conditions in their classrooms; thus, the corrective measures to employ in each individual educational setting should reflect the features and needs of the target space/building. Purpose: Reflection can be a valuable learning strategy for connecting theory with practice and illuminating insights and understandings from complex or messy experiences. This learning is critical for educators and health professionals who work or teach students in complex contexts. In anticipation of their future needs, speech-language pathology students, like many health profession students in Australia, are expected to demonstrate the ability to reflect on their practice as part of their professional practice or clinical education. It is challenging to support educators to facilitate reflection and students to learn when, why, and how to reflect for personally and professionally meaningful outcomes given the diversity in understandings and capabilities present in the literature. The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility of an evidence-based reflection intervention to clarify and support student reflective practice. Method: A convergent mixed methods design captured quantitative and qualitative results from 16 participants for a better understanding of the feasibility of a reflection intervention. Result: The diversity in the reflection literature also appears to be present in students' reflection approaches. This diversity can encourage student engagement and ownership of reflecting when considered within a rich learning environment. Objectives: This study investigated the impact of structural isolation within peer relationships on physical activity levels among Korean adolescents, exploring how different types of social isolation within classroom networks influence physical activity. Methods: This study utilized cross-sectional survey data. Specifically, using data from the 8th Korean Children and Youth Happiness Index survey (2016), which included 3356 middle and high school students in Korea, the study employed binary logistic regression and social network analysis to assess the relationship between social isolation and physical activity. Based on types of isolation, adolescents were categorized into social avoidant, actively isolated and socially indifferent groups. Results: The analysis demonstrated significant differences in physical activity based on social isolation status (χ2 = 13.0, p < 0.001) and types of social isolation (χ2 = 18.3, p < 0.001). Key variables such as gender, household subjective economic status, and self-rated health significantly influenced physical activity. The number of physically active friends had a considerable impact on both non-isolated groups (OR = 1.31, p < 0.001) and the actively isolated group (OR = 1.42, p < 0.05). The actively isolated group exhibited the highest explanatory power in the logistic regression models (Nagelkerke R² = 0.230). Conclusions: This study has highlighted that not only social isolation but also the type of isolation significantly influences physical activity among adolescents. Understanding these distinctions and tailoring interventions accordingly are crucial for promoting physical activity among socially isolated adolescents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Schools are significant settings for the development of young people, yet few studies have investigated the multiple facets of school climate and students' well‐being. This research aims to map the literature production in the two intertwined concepts: students' well‐being, and school climate. The study applied bibliometric analysis to map the research status of school climate and students' well‐being using metadata extracted from over a period of 33 years. The analysis presents a detailed overview of school climate and students' well‐being in terms of scientific production, citations, authorship, countries' production, and institutions' outputs. Results highlighted the recent developmental trends of publications on students' well‐being and school climate and outlined the precursors for triggering this combination. With reference to students' overall well‐being, analysing the results shows that research on school climate increased markedly in different parts of the world. However, when compared to Arab countries, rare studies were conducted. Context and implicationsRationale: Mapping the exponentially growing research on school climate and student well‐being can guide stakeholders in understanding research, gaps and priorities. Background: Evidence supports the use of multi-modal approaches to develop nurse practitioner (NP) students' telehealth competency. Method: A virtual flipped classroom approach that included eLearning, interactive webinars, and virtual standardized patient (SP) simulations was implemented and evaluated to teach NP students to use telehealth and other connected health technologies to improve care for underserved populations. Results: Analysis of data from multiple-choice quizzes, surveys, and SP evaluations indicated students achieved high levels of knowledge, met the learning objectives, demonstrated above-average competency during telehealth simulations that improved over time, and were highly satisfied with the learning experiences. Conclusion: The educational benefits of a flipped classroom can be realized within a fully online learning experience. Background: Student knowledge acquisition and retention are essential in nursing training. This study examined differences in content knowledge acquisition and retention between traditional and flipped classroom (FC) formats. Method: A pretest-posttest quasiexperimental design with a follow-up test was used for this study of associate degree nursing students in a Hong Kong community college. The control group (n = 141) included nursing students in a traditional classroom (TC) setting before COVID-19 compared with nursing students in an FC (n = 130) setting during the pandemic. The effects were evaluated before the course, postcourse, and 3 months after the course. Results: Content knowledge scores for both groups improved after the course. Students in the FC performed better in the short-term (posttest immediately after the course) and long-term (follow-up-test 3 months later) than students in the TC. Background: As educators and schools redouble their efforts to support and graduate a diverse and highly competent student body, there is an urgent need to adopt an academic framework to understand the effects of trauma on student learning, ground equity and justice in nursing education, and underpin policy development. Method: This article explicates the use of equity-centered trauma-informed education practice (TIEP) as a framework for examining, scrutinizing, and eliminating the influences and effects of racism, including explicit, implicit, systematic, and microaggressions, as well as inequitable approaches in practices, pedagogy, and policy. Results: Five key strategies were identified: (1) bias and antiracist work; (2) safety and trust; (3) culturally responsive pedagogy; (4) wellness and balance and (5) community-building. Conclusion: Transforming nursing education requires a paradigm shift, with changes occurring from an individual to a system level. TIEP ensures changes are equity-centered and justice-focused. This study investigated the lived experiences of adolescent orphans, providing insights into the personal experiences, challenges encountered, and support services they received as a vulnerable and often underserved population-the research aimed to offer a broad understanding of the complex dimensions of their lives. Through in-depth interviews and qualitative analysis, the study showed the complex emotional, social, and educational environment in which adolescent orphans navigated. It highlighted their coping mechanisms, resilience, and goals, as well as the difficulties they faced in accessing necessary resources and services. The research also examined the roles of different support systems, including house parents, social workers, and teachers, in influencing the adolescents' experiences. The findings of this study served as the foundation for developing a tailored intervention plan that aimed to address the specific needs and promote the well-being of adolescent orphans. This intervention plan encompassed strategies to improve emotional resilience, academic success, and life skills development. Moreover, it emphasized the significance of tailored support systems that acknowledged the unique situations and aspirations of each orphan. By bridging the gap between research and practice, this study contributed to a more comprehensive understanding of adolescent orphans and laid the groundwork for a well-rounded and evidence-based intervention plan that could empower them to overcome the challenges they faced and build a more promising future. Although there is a large amount of scientific literature on the impact of colour on learning, there is considerably less research on the impact of coloured lighting on learning. Numerous studies have explored this traditional approach, but their results are inconsistent and lack systematic rigour. However, the logical technological evolution towards coloured lighting remains a nascent field, with most research focusing on colour temperature (CCT) rather than coloured lighting per se. Studies such as this one highlight the benefits of coloured LED lighting on students' cognitive processes, as it is a technology which can overcome the limitations of traditional colour applications by introducing the concept of "dynamic colour" as a key component of smart classrooms that can be integrated into artificial intelligence (AI)-based decision making. This study, conducted in a primary school classroom, employed a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and a control group, and had a duration of three months. The effect of coloured lighting on students' cognitive processes, such as attention, impulsivity control and figurative creativity, divided into four dimensions, was investigated. Descriptive, variance-based and comparative analyses of the overall results reveal that coloured light significantly influences cognitive processes, and some results are even generalisable across the variables analysed. This study aimed to examine the predictive effect of cultural orientation and perceived school climate on the formation of teachers' growth mindsets. A total of 811 middle school teachers (26.88% females; mean age = 29.77) from Shanghai City, mainland China, participated in the study. The growth mindset inventory, Hofstede's cultural dimensions, and the school-level environment questionnaire were used to assess teachers' growth mindset beliefs, cultural orientations, and perceptions of school climates, respectively. Hierarchical multiple regression analyses were applied to test the hypothesized roles of teachers' cultural orientations and perceived school climates in predicting the formation of their growth mindsets. Two interesting findings were obtained. First, regarding the effect of cultural orientation, teachers' growth mindset belief was positively predicted by the Confucian dimension of cultural value in relation to long-term orientation but negatively predicted by the dimensions of power distance and uncertainty avoidance. Second, regarding the predictive effect of school climate, growth mindset was positively predicted by three school climate factors: school resources, decision-making, and instructional innovation. These findings provide empirical evidence for the perspectives of social cognitive theory and cultural and ecological psychology by highlighting the contextual sensitivity of growth mindset formation. How can educators and students from settler backgrounds engage with and acknowledge the experiences and representation of transgenerational trauma among Indigenous peoples in educational environments, while remaining cognisant of the ethical and political implications? This challenge arises within the context of societal structures still influenced by colonial legacies, where systems of power are ingrained along lines of race, ethnicity, class, gender, disability, and sexuality. What would be some of the necessary conditions that educational environments would need to meet in order to ethically and politically respond to transgenerational traumatic encounters? This paper addresses these questions and suggests three conditions that educational environments would need to meet, when educators and students are invited to become witnesses of transgenerational trauma: decoloniality of time, rupture of developmentalism, and an ethic of non-innocence. This article presents a scoping review addressing the pressing issue of high attrition rates among early-areer teachers (ECTs), which poses a significant challenge to the development of a robust teacher workforce and student outcomes. Focusing on the role of external mentoring programmes, our study explores their potential in retaining ECTs within the teaching profession. Through a scoping review of the literature, we identified three central themes: (a) defining the role of external mentors, (b) elucidating the benefits of external mentoring and (c) examining the impact of external mentoring on ECT identity development. Our analysis revealed a scarcity of programmes emphasising university–school partnerships. Consequently, we propose the implementation of an ECT mentoring initiative involving university mentors collaborating with ECTs in their respective school environments. This study contributes significantly to the field of teacher education by shedding light on effective strategies for ECT induction and the transformative role of mentoring in cultivating ECTs as proficient educators capable of autonomous decision-making, networking, and enhancing overall teaching quality within schools. This study aimed to identify the factors associated with absenteeism among High School students for the school year 2022-2023. The research focused on 120 High School students from Nunungan District High Schools, located in the District of Nunungan, Lanao del Norte. Employing a descriptive-correlational research design, the study aimed to explore and identify the factors related to absenteeism within this specific population during the specified school year. The findings revealed that the school environment demonstrated a positive and significant relationship with absenteeism underscoring that a positive school environment was associated with reduced absenteeism. Commitment also exhibited a significant and negative relationship with absenteeism indicating that higher levels of commitment were linked to lower rates of absenteeism. However, parental control did not emerge as a significant predictor suggesting that, within the context of this model, parental control may not independently contribute to explaining absenteeism. Among the socio-demographic factors, only the father's education appeared to be a significant predictor highlighting the potential influence of a father's education on absenteeism. This study concluded that the positive perceptions of the school environment, commitment levels, and parental control among respondents collectively provided valuable insights into factors influencing students' academic experiences. The consistently favorable evaluations across various dimensions of the school environment underscoring the need for educational institutions to prioritize maintaining supportive atmospheres and positive interpersonal dynamics. Notably, the high levels of commitment exhibited by students emphasized the significance of fostering positive relationships, particularly with teachers and peers, to enhance the overall educational experience. This study focuses on the relationship between leadership styles adopted by school heads and the resultant school climate in public elementary schools. The aim is to provide insights into how different leadership approaches influence the overall atmosphere, culture, and effectiveness of educational institutions. Through a mixed-methods approach, data were collected from a diverse sample of public elementary schools, incorporating surveys, interviews, and observations. This study emphasizes the importance of nurturing supportive, inclusive, and growth-oriented school environments, aligning with principles of transformational leadership. Findings underscore the critical role of school heads' leadership styles in shaping the organizational culture and climate within public elementary schools. The ANOVA results revealed no significant difference in the perception of leadership styles among school heads, teachers, and parents, suggesting that despite minor variations in mean scores, these differences lack statistical significance. This study aims to reveal how and when college students' perception of teachers' entrepreneurial leadership affects entrepreneurial intention, and to provide new ideas for improving college students' entrepreneurial intention. Utilizing a stratified cluster sampling approach in this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 769 college students enrolled in two institutions in Hainan Province, China. The research findings indicate a significant and positive influence of college students' perception of teachers' entrepreneurial leadership on entrepreneurial intention. Moreover, this perception affects entrepreneurial intention through both a single mediating effect and a serial mediating effect involving creative self-efficacy and creativity. The moderated serial mediation model shows that when college students perceive a higher school innovation climate, the serial mediation effect of creative self-efficacy and creativity on the correlation between their perception of teachers' entrepreneurial leadership and entrepreneurial intention is stronger. In the ever-evolving landscape of educational technology, it is vital to understand the empirical relationships of teachers’ Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) and its interplay with explanatory factors such as cyber wellness, school climate, and digital nativity. This study employs Covariance-Based Structural Equation Modeling (CB-SEM) to analyze selfreported data from 311 basic education teachers in Central Visayas, Philippines. The model demonstrates robust validity and reliability, showing diverse direct impacts on the antecedent variables to the seven constructs of TPACK. The findings reveal 16 significant hypothesized paths, with digital nativity has a significant effect on all three core knowledge domains of TPACK while school climate and cyber wellness have a significant effect on two knowledge domains. Another significant finding shows that content knowledge emerged with the highest significant effect on technological content knowledge (β = 0.621). This connection highlights the fundamental role of content knowledge in successfully integrating technological competencies among teachers, especially from a developing economy. University students are likely to encounter mental health issues throughout their educational journey. Among the various factors that can impact students’ wellbeing, the physical environment can potentially restore cognitive, physiological, and emotional resources, thereby enhancing academic performance, and overall quality of life, while reducing feelings of stress and depression. The Perceived Restorativeness Scale is the most commonly used tool to assess the level of restorativeness derived from the educational physical environment. However, a tailored measure could be a more psychometrically suitable approach to capture the context-specific characteristics of university environments for academic students. This study aimed to validate an instrument that can accurately evaluate university spaces to measure the perceived restorativeness of university students. A total sample of 685 students from two Italian universities participated in the evaluation of the psychometric properties of the Restorativeness at University scale (Rest@US), consisting of 13 items divided into four dimensions: fascination, being-away, scope, and coherence. The hypothesised four-factor model (being-away, fascination, scope, and coherence) demonstrated excellent fit indices in both the calibration and validation samples and was invariant for sex. The scale demonstrates good reliability. Furthermore, criterion validity has been confirmed, highlighting that, in a theoretically consistent manner, the perceived restorativeness of university physical environments from the point of view of students and its dimensions were negatively correlated with techno-overload and study-related workload and positively correlated with perceived performance and psycho-physical wellbeing. Background: Typical adolescent diets do not meet current dietary recommendations. There is a need to address these dietary patterns to reduce the risk of obesity and other diet-related diseases. Schools provide an opportune setting to do so, as students consume a substantial proportion of their daily dietary intake whilst at school. There is a developing evidence base on the use of choice architecture (food choice cues) to promote healthy eating in school contexts. It is necessary to understand the acceptability and feasibility of implementing such interventions. We aimed to explore these factors from the perspectives of secondary school caterers. Methods: We conducted qualitative interviews with caterers from secondary schools across the West Midlands, UK and national/regional catering representatives. A semi-structured topic guide and visual aid were used to guide interviews. Interviews were recorded and transcribed. Framework analysis was conducted in NVivo v12. Results: Twelve participants took part. Seven themes were identified and grouped into three categories: Acceptability (Suitability; Salient cues; Student engagement), Barriers (Catering decision drivers; Limits of influence), and Enablers (Perceived role; Opportunities). Caterers considered healthy food cues to be suited to adolescents as they require minimal reflective motivation. Salient cues included enhancing the placement, presentation and portability of healthy items, improving the dining environment and focusing pricing/incentive strategies on increased quantity. Student engagement was considered important. Some catering decision drivers conflicted with healthy food cues, and many felt that their role in healthy eating was limited due to the overwhelming influence of external food environments, adolescent resistance, and features of the secondary school canteen setting e.g. short duration of lunchtime, lack of space. However, caterers appeared motivated to implement healthy food cues and identified key opportunities for implementation, including integration into whole-school approaches to healthy eating. Conclusions: Interventions using healthy food cues appeared acceptable to secondary school caterers, key potential implementers of these strategies. Future interventions could incorporate strategies relating to placement, presentation and pricing to prompt healthy selections, and actions to engage the student body and improve the dining environment. Aim:Our study aims to examine the interactions between empathy, victimization, and the school climate in Tunisian primary schools. Method: In total, 312 school children (158 boys and 154 girls), with a mean age of 10.75 ± 1.32 years old participated voluntarily in the study. The students answered three scales that measure the School Climate, the Victimization, and the Empathy. Result: The results indicate a predominantly positive perception of the school climate by the students, both for the overall score (2.67 ± 0.64) and the scores of the different components of the school climate (ranging from2.61 to 2.86). Also, girls seemed to have a more positive perception of the overall school climate, displaying higher scores (2.86 ± 0.54) compared to boys' scores (2.45 ± 0.67). Moreover, other results showed positive and statistically significant correlations (p < 0.01) between the different dimensions of the school climate. Conclusion: The findings highlight the importance of creating a safe and inclusive school environment where empathy is encouraged, and effective measures are in place to prevent and address victimization. This study examined the mediating effect of school culture on the relationship between transformational leadership and teaching performance in Yemeni public schools. A stratified random sample of 375 teachers from schools in Sana’a, Yemen, was selected to participate. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using structural equation modeling with SmartPLS 3. The results showed that transformational leadership and a positive school culture significantly predicted better teaching performance. Furthermore, school culture mediated the positive relationship between transformational leadership and teaching performance. These findings provide valuable insights for school leaders on the critical role of school culture in achieving teaching excellence. The results also shed light on mechanisms to improve school culture and educational leadership to implement policies for better student outcomes. Background: As nursing education embraces e-learning as a vital component of its pedagogical approach, understanding the interplay between students' readiness for E-learning and their academic self-efficacy becomes imperative in nurturing successful learning outcomes amidst evolving educational paradigms. Purpose: This study aimed to explore the relationship between e-learning readiness, academic self-efficacy, and the academic achievement of nursing students within the dynamic educational environment. Design: This study employed a cross-sectional design. Methods: A total of 208 nursing students were recruited through convenience sampling at the end of the second semester in 2022. The evaluation included the utilization of Grade Point Average, the Online Learning Readiness Scale, and the Academic Self-Efficacy Scale. Findings: Previous research has indicated a significant positive correlation between academic achievement and readiness for e-learning, suggesting that higher levels of readiness for e-learning among nursing students lead to improved academic achievement (p ≤ 0.001). Additionally, the findings of the current study revealed a notable positive correlation between academic achievement and academic self-efficacy (p ≤ 0.001). Conclusion: This study provides valuable insights into the critical role of academic self-efficacy and e-learning readiness in enhancing academic achievement among nursing students. This article seeks to provide a clearer understanding of Digital Capital in education. It introduces a comprehensive analytical framework that explores the relationship between Digital Capital and Bourdieu's Cultural Capital Theory. Instead of treating digital skills and resources as separate entities, it integrates them into Cultural Capital Theory as complementary elements. This approach helps shed light on the disparities in ICT usage. Data from the 2018 OECD‐PISA survey conducted in Italy are analysed to assess whether Digital Capital can be considered a component of Cultural Capital. The findings indicate that differences in Cultural Capital do not significantly impact the possession and usage of digital assets. Instead, distinctions become apparent through students’ behaviours within the school environment. This underscores the connection between digital competencies and various dimensions of cultural and educational capital. The article posits that status and cultural disparities stem not solely from digital competencies but also from their interplay with social and cultural resources. Background: Mental health and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in children and adolescents deteriorated during the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of this population-based longitudinal study was to explore whether distinct mental health trajectories in youths can be identified over the course of the pandemic. Methods: Mental health problems (MHP), psychosomatic symptoms and HRQoL were assessed at five time points between May 2020 and October 2022 in 744 children and adolescents aged 7 to 20 years using established instruments. We used generalized mixture modeling to identify distinct mental health trajectories and fixed-effects regressions to analyse covariates of the identified profiles of change. Results: We found five distinct linear latent trajectory classes each for externalising MHP and psychosomatic symptoms and four trajectory classes for internalising MHP. For HRQoL, a single-class solution that indicates a common development process proved to be optimal. The largest groups remained almost stable at a low internalising and externalising symptom level (64 to 74%) and consistently showed moderate psychosomatic symptoms (79%), while 2 to 18% showed improvements across the pandemic. About 10% of the youths had consistently high internalising problems, while externalising problems deteriorated in 18% of youths. Class membership was significantly associated with initial HRQoL, parental and child burden, personal resources, family climate and social support. Conclusions: The mental health of most children and adolescents remained resilient throughout the pandemic. However, a sizeable number of youths had consistently poor or deteriorating mental health. Background: Hidden curriculum (HC) can limit the effects of professionalism education. However, the research on how HC triggers unprofessional behavior among medical students is scant. Furthermore, there is no established approach for how faculty members may create a context, such as an educational environment and education system, that prevents students' unprofessional behavior. This study aimed to develop an educational approach to prevent unprofessional behavior and clarify how faculty members consider HC that triggers students' unprofessional behavior. Methods: The study sample comprised 44 faculty members and eight medical students from the Chiba University School of Medicine. The participants were divided into groups and asked the following question: "What attitudes, statements, and behaviors of senior students, physicians, and faculty members trigger medical students' unprofessional behavior?" The responses were collected using the affinity diagram method. The group members discussed the causes and countermeasures for the selected attitudes, statements, and behaviors of senior students, physicians, and faculty members based on the affinity diagram. The impact of the group work on the faculty members was surveyed using questionnaires immediately after its completion and six months later. Furthermore, the cards in the group work were analyzed using content analysis. Results: The responses to the questionnaire on group work indicated that some faculty members (43.8%) improved HC, while others suggested conducting group work with more participants. The content analysis revealed six categories – inappropriate attitude/behavior, behavior encouraging unprofessional behavior, lack of compliance with regulations, harassment of other medical staff, inappropriate educational environment/supervisor, and inappropriate self-control – and 46 subcategories. Conclusions: The HC that triggers students' unprofessional behavior includes the words and actions of the educator, organizational culture, and educational environment. Group work makes faculty members aware of the HC that triggers unprofessional behavior, and induces behavioral change for HC improvement in the educational activities. Educators should refrain from using words and actions that encourage unprofessional behavior, such as personal anecdotes, as they reduce students' learning motivation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The ways in which learning environments are spatially conceived have undergone a significant transformation from space as “a realm without meaning” into place as “a meaningful location.” In this context, the relevance of online interactions and the significance of online space and place in facilitating positive learning are worth exploration. Drawing on a nationwide survey involving 1010 international students at 41 Chinese HEIs in the COVID‐19 pandemic, this research applied k‐means cluster analyses which produced a typology of international students' perceived online educational environments and another typology of their online interpersonal interactions. The logistic regression results indicated the predictive power of both typologies on ability development. The discussion highlights the importance of considering spatial dimensions of international students' online learning. Promoting international students' online interactions and supporting inclusive, engaging learning experiences require both space for hosting and place enabling intercultural learning. Summary Oral tolerance promotes the suppression of immune responses to innocuous antigen and is primarily mediated by regulatory T cell (Tregs). The development of oral tolerance begins in early life during a “window of tolerance,” which occurs around weaning and is mediated by components in breastmilk. Herein, we review the factors dictating this window and how Tregs are uniquely educated in early life. In early life, the translocation of luminal antigen for Treg induction is primarily dictated by goblet cell‐associated antigen passages (GAPs). GAPs in the colon are negatively regulated by maternally‐derived epidermal growth factor and the microbiota, restricting GAP formation to the “periweaning” period (postnatal day 11–21 in mice, 4–6 months in humans). The induction of solid food also promotes the diversification of the bacteria such that bacterially‐derived metabolites known to promote Tregs—short‐chain fatty acids, tryptophan metabolites, and bile acids—peak during the periweaning phase. Further, breastmilk immunoglobulins—IgA and IgG—regulate both microbial diversity and the interaction of microbes with the epithelium, further controlling which antigens are presented to T cells. Overall, these elements work in conjunction to induce a long‐lived population of Tregs, around weaning, that are crucial for maintaining homeostasis in adults. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: While minoritized ethnoracial groups were most likely to be in online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, the impact of these ethnoracial disparities on adolescent mental health is unclear. Since past studies do not directly examine whether the association between school modality and self-reported mental health outcomes varied by race and ethnicity among U.S. adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic, this study addresses the gap. Methods: Adolescents aged 13 to 17 years old (n = 510) were surveyed for self-reports of anxiety and depression symptoms using the 4-item Patient Health Questionnaire during Spring 2021. Seemingly unrelated regressions were used to estimate the differential association between school modality and mental health by respondents' race and ethnicity. Results: Estimates without interaction between school modality and race and ethnicity suggested that Latino respondents reported a significantly higher frequency of depressive symptoms than their White counterparts (b = 0.459; p < 0.05). Similarly, the estimates without the interaction suggested respondents reporting hybrid learning had a higher frequency of depressive symptoms than in-person learning (b = 0.504; p < 0.05). Estimates with interaction between school modality and race and ethnicity suggested fully online learning was associated with poorer mental health only among White respondents and better mental health among Black respondents. Among adolescents attending school fully online, Black adolescents reported fewer mental health symptoms than their White counterparts (anxiety, b =– 1.364; p < 0.05, and depression, b =– 1.647; p < 0.05). Conclusions: Fully online learning may have benefitted the mental health of Black adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic, perhaps because it buffered racial discrimination and social anxiety in schools. Additional interventions should be explored to promote in-person school environments that better support the mental health of Black adolescents. Moreover, prioritizing equitable access to broadband internet will provide better access to online learning and ensure positive mental health, particularly for adolescents from minoritized ethnoracial groups during instances of future pandemics. Future research should continue to consider the race and ethnicity of adolescents to promote mental well-being in schools across learning modalities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
