The study investigated effect of insecurity on library services in Nigerian universities. In carrying out this study three objectives were posed. Ascertain the causes of insecurity that affects the library services, identify the effect of insecurity on library services and determine the measures used to reduce the effect of insecurity on library services. Descriptive survey research design and Online Structure Questionnaire was utilized to solicit data. The population of the study comprised of one hundred and forty Federal university library staff in the North Central. The findings revealed various causes of insecurity in the universities libraries such as cultism among students causes insecurity in the university libraries/ insurgency causes insecurity around the university community /community disaster and dispute among the people within the university community cause insecurity, indecency dress causes insecurity/ religious and ethnic fanatics within the university community cause insecurity. It also discovered that insecurity elongate university calendar, insecurity destabilizes staff motivation for better performance in the library, insecurity affect regular opening and closure time of library, insecurity affect regular user patronage to the library, insecurity affects general staff training in the library, insecurity stimulates theft and wreckage of resources in library. The study discovered some measures in order to reduces insecurity in the university library with include among others improve number of physical security personnel in the library to reduce the negative effect of insecurity. This study recommended that overall security of the library should be seen by all the staff as a combined responsibility. The study investigated effective records retention program in selected university libraries in the South-South, Nigeria. The population consists of 790librarians and library staff of the federal, state and private university libraries in the south-south, Nigeria, The questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection. Seven hundred and ninety (790) copies of the questionnaire were administered but 670 copies were retrieved from the respondents. The data collected were subjected to frequency count and simple percentage. The results of the study, among others, showed that universities libraries has the following typed of records commonly stored which include books and journals acquired, periodical/ appraisal /promotion/ conference records, staff files, library holdings, minute of meeting, receipts of money received, library equipment, actual budget allocation, releases and retiring/ shipment receipts and purchase order. The outcomes of the study revealed that existing records retention programs in the university libraries were patron records, library resources records, standard records /managerial records and digital records. The study further reveals that using computer, stored manually and file cabinets were the methods utilised to improve records retention programs. It also, revealed lack of awareness on records policy /lack of professional training on records retention/ improper filling, inadequate finance, inadequate resources facilities', lack of policy implementation, poor maintenance culture, quality and quantity of staff / poor storage condition. It was recommended that management should develop a comprehensive records retention policy that establish clear guidelines of what constitutes a record, identify different record types, and categorize them based on their importance and legal requirements and how long each record type should be retained, considering factors like legal obligations, historical value, and operational needs and among others. Access points to Heliophysics information are often poorly inter-linked to one another, making it challenging for researchers to integrate information, mature their understanding, and incorporate more complex ideas and relationships into their analyses. The authors reason this behavior to be a direct conseaquence of the lack of infrastructure for knowledge and data discovery in Heliophysics. Building an online library resource for Heliophysics addresses this gap in resources, and can also address other troublesome gaps related to community-building, such as access to help from other scientists, example analysis tutorials, and collaboration opportunities. Grant programs that foster the use of open educational resources (OER) significantly reduce undergraduate student spending on textbooks per semester. The Zero-Cost Course Materials (ZCCM) grant program at the University of California, Merced (UC Merced), eliminated text costs and ensured access to course materials by replacing required commercial materials with OER and library licensed e-resources. The present study applies the COUP framework (cost, outcomes, usage, and perceptions) to evaluate the ZCCM program. The ZCCM program resulted in student cost savings and did not negatively impact student outcomes. Students in ZCCM courses demonstrated higher rates of course completion than students enrolled in previous sections. For the outcomes of final course grade, passing with a C- or better, and number of credit hours enrolled in, findings were comparable between the cohorts. Student usage and perception of course materials were gathered using a survey. Though students reported favorable views of zero-cost materials, they reported using them less frequently than commercial texts. By being careful not to violate the legitimate component (absolute part). Problems with legal protection and legal repercussions for heirs about grants that hurt the absolute portion (Legitieme Portie) of the heirs will occur if they breach the law's restrictions. By looking into secondary data or library resources, the normative juridical research methodology was applied to create this paper. As a result of identifying the absolute portion (Legitieme Portie), as specified in Article 913 of the Civil Code, various provisions in the Civil Code (Burgerlijk Wetboek) have given the heirs legal protection. Then, if the heirs feel wronged by the grant or grant or based on a will or who has passed away, the legal implications of a grant deed that breaches Legitieme Portie be revoked. Personal factors explicate the reason undergraduates behave differently when they are apparently undergoing the same experiences which has correlate impact on the use of their university libraries. This study therefore investigated the correlational impact of personal factors (age, gender, academic discipline, type of secondary school attended, level of study, previous library experiences and level of awareness) on library use by the undergraduates. Descriptive survey of the correlational type was adopted. Multistage sampling procedures through purposive sampling method were used to select five conventional federal universities and three homogenous faculties. Two departments common to the faculties were also purposively selected, while five percent of 200 to 400 level undergraduates (797) were selected from a total population of 116, 213. Instruments used were Personal factors (previous library skills (r=0.85) awareness of library resources and services (r=0.93). Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's product moment correlation and Multiple regression at 0.05 level of significance. All Personal factors showed positive significant relationships with library use except gender and level of study (academic discipline r=.08, type of secondary school attended r=.09, previous library skills r=.33, level of awareness of library resources and services r=.24, gender r=-.01 and level of study r=-.06). The result indicates that Age (â = .014, p>.05), gender (â = .012, p>.05), academic discipline (â = .045, p>.05) and level of study (â = .022, p>.05) had no significant relative contribution while type of secondary school attended (â = .068, p<.05), previous library experience (â = .198, p<.05) and level of awareness (â = .213, p<.05) had significant relative contribution. Personal factors determined library use by the undergraduates in federal universities in the North-central, Nigeria. Therefore, the stakeholders in the university library should create awareness about the importance of library through current awareness programmes in order to increase library use. This study investigated the knowledge and perception of artificial intelligence among library and information science professionals in Zambia by surveying 245 randomly selected participants. The results show that the library and information science professionals had a favourable and encouraging outlook with regard to artificial intelligence but were also concerned about artificial intelligence replacing librarians' roles and the barriers to adopting artificial intelligence technologies in Zambian libraries. This research examines political identity from the Christian perspective and the Implication for Christian politicians. In 2024, Indonesia will run the presidential election. The most apparent phenomenon of identity politics in the history of Indonesian democracy was the election for the Jakarta area in 2017. It was done by a handful of people considering the success of identity politics in 2017. They want to repeat their success in 2017 in the forthcoming 2024 election. Politicians and Christians must be different; they must stand firm in their Christian identity and bring important messages to Indonesia. The study adopted a literature study which is a library study method research technique that involves seeking sources that offer factual information or expert opinions relevant to a research question. This method utilizes various library resources, such as books, scholarly journals, and online databases, to collect reliable information. The authors carefully analysed works to build a frame of mind to answer the problem that was formulated. Data analysis techniques were based on careful content analysis. The purpose of this study was to investigate barriers faced by Pakistani university libraries to implement digital preservation programs. A questionnaire was developed and pilot tested before being sent to 70 libraries of the public sector universities and degree awarding institutions to measure the phenomena. Out of the targeted 70 libraries, 63 responded to the survey (90 % response rate). The results highlighted that a lack of institutional/national policies, financial and technological resources, and administrative support are key barriers that hinder the implementation of digital preservation practices in Pakistani university libraries. The findings of this novel study emphasize devising a national policy for digital preservation in Pakistan. Results point out key barriers to digital preservation and help designing knowledge-based systems in order to meet information and knowledge needs of library users around the clock. This paper examines the establishment, growth, achievements, and future planning of the CALA Canada Chapter. Since its inception in June 2018, the Chapter has experienced significant growth, with the number of members doubling, and the number of life members also doubling. Currently there are a total of thirty members in the Chapter, comprising ten life members, eight overseas members, and seven student members, with the majority residing or working in Ontario. The Chapter has achieved notable milestones, including the organization of successful events such as conferences, workshops, and networking sessions. The Chapter has also contributed to the development of the library profession in Canada, particularly by promoting diversity and inclusivity. Looking forward, the Chapter plans to expand its reach and increase its membership by promoting itself in other regions of the country. The Chapter aims to continue providing valuable resources, programs, and opportunities for its members to enhance their professional development and foster collaboration. In the over three decades since its establishment in 1990, the Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI) Library has been a leader through taking the initiative in developing and maintaining partnerships for the benefit of its primary user community: the firefighters of Illinois. Partnerships at the local, state, national, and international levels have allowed the IFSI Library to respond to the unique information needs of firefighters through the creation and continued use of services and programs which have been created specifically to meet these unique needs, and the IFSI Library's place within the Illinois state fire academy allows these services and programs to be promoted and made available to firefighters across the state. By taking the initiative to create partnerships for the benefit of firefighters, the IFSI Library has established itself as a leader in partnership with both the library and information science field as well as to the fire service. The services and programs made possible through the IFSI Library's partnerships have contributed to Illinois firefighters' ability to access the information and resources that they need to continue keeping their communities safe. This paper reports the results of a survey undertaken in December 2021 and January 2022 related to public library staff in the United Kingdom and their experiences of COVID-19, exploring the lockdowns that were enabled, the subsequent re-openings, their mental health and their views for the future of the service post-COVID-19. Over 200 responses were received, and the findings indicate a range of views. The importance of the library as a community resource is evident in the comments from staff, and their observations of patrons on library re-openings. Findings also indicate concern for the future of the library service, and fear that new technologies like e-books may be seen as adequate replacements for the traditional library service. Beginning in March 2020, academic libraries experienced dramatic changes to services resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent stay-at-home orders. Architecture libraries in particular serve a unique user group who are still partially reliant on print resources and were therefore significantly challenged. This article outlines changes to library services and resources, and it considers which transitions are likely to have long-term impact on library functions. Data from two surveys circulated during the early and late stages of the pandemic is compared, contrasted, and supported by research literature. Libraries, as service-oriented organizations, are being guided on every aspect of their operation by local and international standards. In the Philippines, public libraries are expected to adhere to the stipulations of the Philippine Standards for Public Libraries. This study was conducted to assess the adherence of the 11 municipal libraries in Iloilo Province to the following areas of the Standards: library administration, collection management, services and utilization, physical facilities, financial resources, and linkages, networking and collaboration. Findings revealed that most libraries were non-compliant with almost all aspects of the Standards. Specifically, the majority lacked support from their local government units and were managed by non-professional librarians with inadequate knowledge and skills in successfully managing a library. Additionally, most libraries have a low budget to purchase updated resources of various types and formats and appropriate facilities and equipment. Furthermore, almost all libraries lacked networks and linkages, and collaborative activities that could have helped librarians enhance their skills, improve library resources and services, and increase their visibility and value to the stakeholders.
