Early detection of emerging research trends could potentially revolutionise the way research is done. For this reason, trend analysis has become an area of paramount importance in academia and industry. This is due to the significant implications for research funding and public policy. The literature presents several emerging approaches to detecting new research trends. Most of these approaches rely mainly on citation counting. While citations have been widely used as indicators of emerging research topics, they suffer from some limitations. For instance, citations can take months to years to progress and then to reveal trends. Furthermore, they fail to dig into paper content. To overcome this problem, we introduce Leap2Trend, a novel approach to instant detection of research trends. Leap2Trend relies on temporal word embeddings (word2vec) to track the dynamics of similarities between pairs of keywords, their rankings and respective uprankings (ascents) over time. We applied Leap2Trend to two scientific corpora on different research areas, namely computer science and bioinformatics and we evaluated it against two gold standards Google Trends hits and Google Scholar citations. The obtained results reveal the effectiveness of our approach to detect trends with more than 80% accuracy and 90% precision in some cases. Such significant findings evidence the utility of our Leap2Trend approach for tracking and detecting emerging research trends instantly.

For the recent decades, self-citations have been extensively studied by the academia, therein Web of Science (WoS) citations count and h-index are being considered as the benchmark parameters. The WoS is used to determine citations based on the Institute for Scientific Information's (ISI) master list. Towards this end, Google Scholar maintains a broad source of the research articles. However, Google Scholar does not exclude self-citations from the list of citations of one particular journal, author or co-author. The Google Scholar citation statistics are, therefore, not regarded as highly accurate. In this paper, we propose an updated h-index for Google Scholar by first quantifying and thereafter excluding the self-citations from the h-index. We target the two aspects of Google Scholar that belong to the evaluation of the quality of Google Scholar sources and the self-citation' records available in the citation lists. In our analysis, we have taken two datasets. The first dataset is composed of scientists awarded by the Scientometrics, which is recorded from the Google Scholar. According to this dataset, 28 scientists have been awarded as best researchers on the basis of their maximum citations and the h-indexes. The second dataset includes 16 non-award winner scientists. Both datasets include records falling in the period of 1984 to 2017. Based on analysis of award winner scientists' data, the aggregated journal self-citations are observed as 3.95%, whereas author and coauthor self-citations are found as 2.86% and 3.33%, respectively. In contrast, non-award winner scientists have average journal biased citation as 1.22%, author biased citations as 0.41% and co-author biased citations as 0.90%. We consider three types of the self-citations, i.e., journal, author, and coauthor for each scientist to cumulatively calculate the revised h-index. We obtained a new ranking of the scientists, which is based on a more accurate updated h-index. The updated h-index for the Google Scholar can be used for a more accurate academic ranking of the authors and the research articles.

It is generally known that the influential Kyiv researcher, professor of the St. Volodymyr University and honorary member of the Kyiv Theological Academy Ivan Sikorsky (1842–1919) made a significant contribution to the development of the psychological science of his times and gained great authority among his colleagues in the West. In recent years, many studies have been launched in Ukraine, whose authors are trying to demonstrate the relevance of his work also in terms of contemporary science. It remains unclear as to when and how he was recognized in the West, which of his colleagues he influenced in his own life, how his academic achievements are now appreciated in foreign professional circles. Trying to fill this gap, the author of the paper created Sikorsky’s personal profile on the Internet platform “Google Scholar” (“Google Academy”). This Internet-based platform is regularly used to calculate citations of the contemporary scholars and publications. However, as it has turned out, Google Scholar may also be a useful tool for the historical research. This search engine collates information on almost all of the Sikorsky’s works, including those written or translated into foreign languages and published abroad. Despite the fact that Google Scholar identified and included in its own list not all of the existing references, it nevertheless helped to reconstruct a rather large and representative bibliography. Combining the quantitative and qualitative analysis of relevant information from Google Scholar as well as such tools as Google Books, Internet Archive, JSTOR, etc. helps to clarify and substantially expand the understanding of Sikorsky’s place within the history of science and the treatment of his works in the West. As it is clearly shown in the article, he became one of the brightest domestic representatives of the leading trends in the world psychology. A significant number of Western experimental psychologists of the late nineteenth and first half of the twentieth century (including such prominent figures as Alfred Binet, Franz Boas, Edouard Claparede, Edward Thorndike, etc.) were actively referring to his pioneering researches on the phenomenon of mental fatigue in children. It is also shown that the contribution made by Sikorsky to the development of psychology and pedagogy has not been forgotten by the contemporary researchers.

LEARNING Management System ,VIRTUAL classrooms ,COVID-19 pandemic ,SELF-contained classrooms ,VIRTUAL reality ,SCHOOL discipline ,ONLINE education - Abstract
Technology can assist instructional designers and teachers in meeting the needs of learners in traditional classrooms and virtual course environments. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many teachers and instructional designers began looking for resources they could use for hybrid and online course delivery. Many found that the cost of some technology tools was well outside of their financial means to assist them in meeting student learning outcomes. However, some digital tools provide free access for educators and are beneficial to students. In this article, the authors shared five tools they have used in developing and teaching online and traditional technology courses at the college level. They share how they used a learning management system tool, a collaboration tool, a search engine tool, a content creation tool, and a content sharing tool to engage students in their courses. As teachers look for alternatives to use as they move content from classroom teaching to online instruction, this article can help them consider the recommended tools for instruction. Teachers, instructors, and instructional designers may explore the free digital tools in this article and do further research on other digital tools to support student learning in their disciplines. 161. The i100-index, i1000-index and i10,000-index: expansion and fortification of the Google Scholar h-index for finer-scale citation descriptions and researcher classification.

Teixeira da Silva, Jaime A.
- Abstract
The Hirsch or h-index continues to be one of the most popular author-based metrics, despite some of its flaws and limitations. In some cases, citations to some academics' work are increasing at a phenomenal pace, and in some exceptional cases such as Highly Cited Researchers (HCRs), whether alive or deceased, citation counts to their work have reached tens or hundreds of thousands, with h-indexes in the hundreds. Although the h-index currently has one additional derivative index, the i10-index, which is a measure of the number of publications with 10 or more citations, the i10-index is clearly not a sufficient differentiating factor for academics with very high citation counts such as HCRs. In this letter, an expansion of this metric is proposed to include an i100-index, an i1000-index, and an i10,000-index, which indicate the number of publications with 100, 1000, or 10,000 or more citations, respectively. These three new, expanded and/or modified metrics that are based on the h-index may assist in more effectively differentiating the top echelon of HCRs or leaders in a specific field of study. The i100-, i1000-, and i10,000-indexes for 10 HCRs (Michel Foucault, Ronald C. Kessler, Graham Colditz, Sigmund Freud, JoAnn E. Manson, Shizuo Akira, Pierre Bourdieu, Robert Langer, Eric Lander, and Bert Vogelstein) were calculated. Limitations to these three new proposed h-index-based indexes are noted. - Abstract
In this study we present a method for systematic investigation of the diversity in academic performance and its influence factors among successful scholars. In addition, we examine the potential effect of citation indices on the scholarly performance evaluation. To this end, a quantitative research was conducted on the data of 663 tenured professors, sampled from six faculties in two Israeli universities. The scholars' productivity and impact rates were collected from the two major citation indices: Web of Science (WoS) and Google Scholar (GS). A comparison was carried out among the highest impact, lowest impact and average impact scholars in the corpus for each citation index. Significant differences were found between scholars' performance rates in different impact-level groups in the two indices. The top performing group comprised 44 scholars who belonged to the highest impact sub-corpora according to both citation indices. Linear regression analysis showed that women, despite being a minority in the Israeli academia, outperformed men in terms of scientific impact. Interestingly, there were several differences among the two indices in terms of seniority and performance rates. Our findings provide evidence for the "rich get richer" phenomenon in GS compared to WoS. In WoS mean performance rates stabilize after 15 years of seniority, while in GS performance rates of the scholars constantly grow over time. The study contributes to the evaluation of scholarly success and performance diversity in the academic community. The obtained results provide useful insights on academic success and promotion policies for researchers and institutions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The African Academy of Sciences (AAS) is the preeminent science academy on the African continent, but there is currently no information on the academic productivity of the fellowship members. This study investigated the bibliometric parameters of the AAS medical and health sciences fellows. The demographic information (year of induction, gender, and region of employment in Africa) of the 80 medical and health sciences fellows were obtained from the AAS website. Subsequently, the bibliometric information (total number of publications, H-index scores, citation, and co-authorship counts) were extracted from the Scopus database. The majority of the fellows were from the East (36%) and West (33%) African regions (χ² = p=.001); the North (6%) and Central (4%) regions were vastly underrepresented. Although only 34% of the AAS fellows were women, there was no statistically significant difference (p=.05) in the bibliometric parameters of both genders. The year of induction as a fellow and region of employment in Africa significantly (p=.05) influenced the bibliometric parameters. For all the fellows combined, their H-index mean (SD) score is 27.9 (17.0), while the median score for the total number of publications is 100, H-index is 27.5, and the citation and co-authorship count is 2,894 and 446, respectively. The fellows from the West African region had the highest number of publications (Mean = 212), citations (Mean = 9,437), and co-authorship count (Mean=975), and the South African fellows had the highest H-index score (Mean=40.8). The data presented provide insight into the bibliometric productivity of African scientists compared with their peers from other science academies around the world. Similarly, the data may assist burgeoning scientists aspiring to be AAS fellow set realistic goals toward achieving the stipulated H-index benchmarks.

- Abstract
Purpose/Thesis: The study seeks to determine whether Google Scholar allows the user to identify the most frequently cited researchers and their research papers published in Polish, and if the number of citations and the presence of keywords affect the publication's position in the ranking of the results yielded by GS. The author ranks Polish researchers and publications in the field of information science published in the period 2010-2019 to verify the hypothesis that the presence of a given publication in the search results and its position in the ranking is affected by the absence of keywords. Approach/Methods: The author verifies and analyzes the data collected from Google Scholar. The sample comprises the results of forty queries, with key terms relating to information science, as well as names and surnames of researchers in the field. Results and conclusions: The analysis of the sample disproves the hypothesis that Google Scholar search engine allows the user to identify the most frequently cited works and researchers. A significant part of scholarship indexed in GS does not appear in search results when the query is a phrase related to information science. Many frequently cited texts place very low in the ranking. The study also disproves the thesis that the number of citations determines a given publication's ranking. The vast majority of the bibliographic entries in the GS search results does not meet the user's needs. Use of appropriate key terms does not make it more likely that a given publication will be found. Originality/Value: The work refutes the increasingly popular belief that Google Scholar can be professionally used to search for the most important (or rather, the most frequently cited) scientific papers and to rely on the number of citations as a basis for evaluating the papers published in Polish and the researchers publishing mainly in this language. Background: As the volume of scientific publications increases, the rate of retraction of published papers is also likely to increase. In the present study, we report the characteristics of retracted papers from clinical neurosurgery and allied clinical and basic science specialties. Methods: Retracted papers were identified using two separate search strategies on PubMed. Attributes of the retracted papers were collected from PubMed and the Retraction Watch database. The reasons for retraction were analyzed. The factors that correlated with time to retraction were identified. Detailed citation analysis for the retracted papers was performed. The retraction rates for neurosurgery journals were computed. Results: A total of 191 retractions were identified; 55% pertained to clinical neurosurgery. The most common reasons for retraction were plagiarism, duplication, and compromised peer review. The countries associated with the highest number of retractions were China, USA, and Japan. The full text of the retraction notice was not available for 11% of the papers. A median of 50% of all citations received by the papers occurred after retraction. The factors that correlated with a longer time to retraction included basic science category, the number of collaborating departments, and the H-index of the journal. The overall rate of retractions in neurosurgery journals was 0.037%. Conclusions: The retraction notice needs to be freely available on all search engines. Plagiarism checks and reference checks prior to publication of papers (to ensure no retracted papers have been cited) must be mandatory. Mandatory data deposition would help overcome issues with data and results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Asian American family caregivers have gained increased attention due to the need to provide life-sustaining aid at home given the rising numbers of older adults. This article reflects upon caregiving-related research studies that have overlooked the circumstances Asian American caregivers bring to the home-care context. Policies written to address community needs tend to omit the social circumstances many Asian American caregivers must face when trying to take advantage of programs and services. For example, the eligibility requirements fail to recognize distinctive cultural values embedded within the caregiving processes. Further, most Asian American data is aggregated. Aggregating data by ethnicity limits an accurate portrayal of social circumstances. The health effects developed from caregiving demands tend to remain unaddressed and the distribution of goods and essential services generally does not reach many home-based Asian American caregivers in need. This text examines a within-group perspective to uncover sociocultural dimensions influencing caregiving. Different perspectives include those of government and community agencies, research institutions, and data-driven websites (e.g., U.S. Census Bureau). Role Strain Theory and Role Enhancement Theory are discussed. This article explores critical issues such as the health impacts of caregiving demands, Asian American identity conflicts, and United States caregiving policy's lack of acknowledgment of Asian American diversity. To begin making corrections to misleading assumptions about Asian Americans and their culture, the article closes with how researchers need to accept the heterogeneity of Asian Americans and provide a foundation for culturally appropriate policies and programs that can enhance caregivers' quality of life. This study compares search results in Google Scholar (GS), Microsoft Academic (MA), Scopus, and Web of Science (WoS) for a set of fifteen business and economics journals, ten of which had impact factors, and five that did not. These results were analyzed to evaluate the relative performance of each database in identifying citations for articles, and to determine whether one source might be preferable to another in different circumstances. Results showed that Google Scholar and Microsoft Academic have nearly the same number of average citations, with GS only slightly higher, and each has twice as many as either Web of Science or Scopus. Even so, higher numbers did not automatically lead to an unequivocal recommendation to use the related databases without considering other aspects of each database, such as how citations are reported in each of these sources and the transparency that is provided in the fee-based databases. - Abstract
The information sources that are often used to monitor and to obtain a better understanding of the system of scholarly communication (such as Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar) have historically been distributed under restrictive use licenses. However, in a scenario where science and scientific communication are undergoing a process of digital transformation, these models do not facilitate the development of new infrastructure that is better adapted to current and future needs. At the same time, these models hamper reproducibility. In recent years, a variety of open data sources, such as Microsoft Academic, Crossref, and others, have become available, providing easy access to large collections of metadata that were previously only available from closed sources. Citation data are one type of metadata provided by these open data sources. This study documents the significant growth in coverage of open citation data that has taken place between 2019 and 2021, and the events that have led to this point. These collections of open scholarly metadata have kick-started the development of a new ecosystem of scholarly information services. However, their fragility still poses a risk for downstream applications. Academic libraries could become important allies of open scholarly metadata initiatives. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
To date, limited studies have examined the citations of articles published in predatory journals, and none appears to have been done in marketing. Using Google Scholar (GS) as a citation source, this study aims to examine the extent of citations of (articles published in) 10 predatory marketing journals. Citation analyses indicate that the most cited predatory marketing journal gathered 6296 citations since it was first published in 2008. Four of the 10 predatory journals gathered over 732 citations each since they were launched (i.e., highly cited). Three other journals were cited between 147 and 732 times (i.e., moderately cited). The three remaining journals received below 147 citations each (i.e., trivially cited). Findings show that the 1246 articles published in these 10 predatory journals, and which are visible to GS, received 10,935 citations, with 8.776 citations per paper. About 11.624% of these 1246 articles were cited 13 times or more. The most cited article received 217 citations, of which 21 are from journals indexed in Clarivate Analytics' Social Sciences Citation Index. Based on these findings, this study concludes that the conventional marketing literature has been already contaminated by predatory marketing journals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
New sources of citation data have recently become available, such as Microsoft Academic, Dimensions, and the OpenCitations Index of CrossRef ope DOI-to-DOI citations (COCI). Although these have been compared to the Web of Science Core Collection (WoS), Scopus, or Google Scholar, there is no systematic evidence of their differences across subject categories. In response, this paper investigates 3,073,351 citations found by these six data sources to 2,515 English-language highly-cited documents published in 2006 from 252 subject categories, expanding and updating the largest previous study. Google Scholar found 88% of all citations, many of which were not found by the other sources, and nearly all citations found by the remaining sources (89–94%). A similar pattern held within most subject categories. Microsoft Academic is the second largest overall (60% of all citations), including 82% of Scopus citations and 86% of WoS citations. In most categories, Microsoft Academic found more citations than Scopus and WoS (182 and 223 subject categories, respectively), but had coverage gaps in some areas, such as Physics and some Humanities categories. After Scopus, Dimensions is fourth largest (54% of all citations), including 84% of Scopus citations and 88% of WoS citations. It found more citations than Scopus in 36 categories, more than WoS in 185, and displays some coverage gaps, especially in the Humanities. Following WoS, COCI is the smallest, with 28% of all citations. Google Scholar is still the most comprehensive source. In many subject categories Microsoft Academic and Dimensions are good alternatives to Scopus and WoS in terms of coverage. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Academic departments, research clusters and evaluators analyze author and citation data to measure research impact and to support strategic planning. We created Scholar Metrics Scraper (SMS) to automate the retrieval of bibliometric data for a group of researchers. The project contains Jupyter notebooks that take a list of researchers as an input and exports a CSV file of citation metrics from Google Scholar (GS) to visualize the group's impact and collaboration. A series of graph outputs are also available. SMS is an open solution for automating the retrieval and visualization of citation data., Competing Interests: The authors declare that the research was conducted in the absence of any commercial or financial relationships that could be construed as a potential conflict of interest., (Copyright © 2024 Cao, Cheung, Giustini, LeDue and Murphy.)

CITATION analysis - Abstract
Although the traditional bibliometric citation database is an established academic impact assessment source, in this paper, we examine the role of social media impact on academic books. We identified the highly cited books in Scopus and compared the citations with ratings and reviews on the Goodreads website. R stat was used to extract the data from Goodreads website. We found that there is an uneven distribution of Goodreads rating and reviews. Social science books received the highest number of user's ratings, reviews and citations. The study finds that there is no relationship between citation counts and Goodreads ratings and reviews count in social science books. Although social science books generated the highest number of studies and engagement by the readers, there seems to be no evidence to suggest that this engagement results in an academic citation. Whereas, a correlation was observed between health science books citations and Goodreads overall rating, as with physical science book reviews and Google Scholar citation counts. - Abstract
In the neoliberal environment of contemporary academia, an individual's research rankings and outputs can shape their career security and progression. When applying for ongoing employment and promotional opportunities, academics may benchmark their performance against that of superior colleagues to demonstrate their performance in relation to their discipline. The H-index and citation rates are commonly used to quantify the value of an academic's work, and they can be used comparatively for benchmarking purposes. The focus of this paper is to critically consider if Google Scholar be used for benchmarking against the professoriate in education, by weighting up issues of data reliability and participation. The Google Scholar profiles of full professors at top ranked universities in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States of America are analysed to explore how widespread Google Scholar use is in the education professoriate. Quartiles of impact are established in relation to H-index, with exploration of how gender is distributed across these quartiles. Limitations of using Google Scholar data are highlighted through a taxonomy of quality confounders, and the utility of Google Scholar as a legitimate tool for benchmarking against the professoriate in education is strongly challenged. As metrics continue to rise in their importance for academics' job security and promotional prospects, reliance on metrics of dubious quality and uneven participation must be questioned. [EN] Research organizations¿ persistent identifiers allow for reducing affiliation ambiguities, enable accurate institutional analyses and favor the design of modern online scholarly databases suited for research discovery and research evaluation. However, few studies have attempted to quantify their degree of use. The purpose of this work is precisely to determine the use of Research Organizations Registry (ROR) IDs in author academic profiles, specifically in Google Scholar Profiles (GSP). To do this, all the Google Scholar profiles including the term ROR in any of the public descriptive fields were collected and analyzed. The results evidence a low use of ROR IDs (1,033 profiles), mainly from a few institutions (e.g. Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia, and Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral in Ecuador hold 55.7% of all profiles), from low citationbased impact authors (45.1% of profiles attain less than 100 citations each), belonging mainly to Social Sciences (26.3%), Engineering fields (25.3%), and Natural Sciences (22.2%). Although Google Scholar does not facilitate the inclusion of identifiers, it seems that the world¿s leading research institutions are not recommending their researchers include these identifiers in their profiles yet., [ES] Los identificadores persistentes de las organizaciones de investigación permiten reducir las ambigüedades de afiliaciones, realizar análisis institucionales precisos y favorecen el diseño de modernas bases de datos online académicas adecuadas para el descubrimiento y la evaluación la investigación. This project has been supported by the project UNIVERSEO (Ref. Due to medical researchers need for updated and valid scientific findings in their research area, it is important to evaluate medical journals. On the other hand, researchers are looking for prestigious journals to publish their articles in their field of activity. Because much of the medical journals in Iran published by Universities of Medical Sciences, this study aimed to evaluate Iranian Medical Sciences Universities' research journals in Google Scholar citation database between 2010-2014, with emphasis on both scientific impacts: The Journal Hirsch index and Journal Impact factor. In order to collect data the researchers used publish or perish, which is a citation analysis software. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and Spearman correlation test using Microsoft Excel and SPSS16. The results showed that a total of 38,717 articles from 130 surveyed journals in the period of study was indexed in Google Scholar and these articles had received 61,938 citations, i.e. 1.6 citations per article. Total average of Hirsch index in study population was 7 and total average of journals impact factor was 1.31. Spearman correlation test results showed that the journal language and number of journals articles have a significant positive correlation with the number of received citations, journal Hirsch index and journal impact factor. The relationship between journal impact factor and Hirsch index was significant too. It seems that due to the high correlation between journal impact factor and Hirsch index, these two indicators can be used as complementary elements in evaluating journals.

Past studies of citation coverage of Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar do not demonstrate a consistent pattern that can be applied to the interdisciplinary mix of resources used in social work research. To determine the utility of these tools to social work researchers, an analysis of citing references to well-known social work journals was conducted. Web of Science had the fewest citing references and almost no variety in source format. Scopus provided higher citation counts, but the pattern of coverage was similar to Web of Science. Google Scholar provided substantially more citing references, but only a relatively small percentage of them were unique scholarly journal articles. The patterns of database coverage were replicated when the citations were broken out for each journal separately. The results of this analysis demonstrate the need to determine what resources constitute scholarly research and reflect the need for future researchers to consider the merits of each database before undertaking their research. This study will be of interest to scholars in library and information science as well as social work, as it facilitates a greater understanding of the strengths and limitations of each database and brings to light important considerations for conducting future research. Open access (OA) search tools can expedite the turnaround of interlibrary loan (ILL) fulfillment by locating openly available articles not found by library harvesting tools. Several search tools are available, but no comparison has been done of their efficacy in the context of ILL. Six OA search tools were evaluated using 153 ILL article requests for quantity of openly available articles found, accuracy of results, and value. Article availability was analyzed by publication year and broad academic discipline. Google and Google Scholar outperformed specialty OA search tools, although they were more prone to error and more likely to locate pre-publications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Google Scholar combines versions of what should be the same item into a single record with multiple versions listed and a common citation rate for all versions. However, these versions are not always the same document. A study on the citations of theses and dissertations found unusually high citation rates for some titles. On closer examination, these titles had versions that were other formats, sometimes with additional authors. A close examination of highly cited theses and dissertations revealed that nearly half of the titles were considered versions of other different formats, often much shorter and sometimes multi-authored journal articles. The introduction of the internet has revolutionized the dissemination and assessment of research outputs with renewed emphasis on the impact of scholarly publications. The purpose of this study was to measure scholarly presence and citation impact of research scientists of the Building and Road Research Institute (CSIR-BRRI) on the internet. Bibliometrics was employed as a quantitative research method for this study. using Google Scholar. The results showed that majority (77.5%) of scientists had at least one scholarly reference on the internet. It also found that, almost all (96.5%) scientists who had scholarly works online showed affiliation to the CSIR-BRRI. Again, it was observed that most mentions/hits were journal publications (59%) followed by thesis (35%). However, the study found that there was a weak positive relationship between number of journal articles and citations online, a clear indication that a web presence does not automatically reflect the usefulness of a scholarly output. It is recommended that scientists identify and research into globally relevant topics and also publish in reputable journals to enhance their visibility. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to identify the profiles of researchers in the knowledge organization domain on Google Scholar Citations (GSC) and investigate its sociological and ontological dimensions. The sociological dimension is related to GSC users who declared research interests that fall within the scope of the knowledge organization domain. The ontological dimension is based on the study of these concepts. Domain analysis was used as a methodological framework for this study. A search was conducted on GSC using keywords in order to create a list of scholars who declared the knowledge organization domain as one of their research interests in their Google Scholar Profiles (GSPs). Next, the search for GSPs of authors who had published their papers in the Knowledge Organization journal from 2000 to 2019 was conducted. The results showed that there were 379 publicly available GSPs. Analysis of the affiliated institutions showed that the majority of them were based respectively in the USA, Brazil, and then in India. The ontological dimension of the knowledge organization domain on GSC was examined by studying keywords attached to GSPs. The most frequently used keywords were identified and using network analysis five clusters that represented the main areas of interest were extracted. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
This paper explores which journals publish management accounting research and which sources are most cited in these journals. We apply bibliometric methods based on citation data from Web of Science and Scopus. Quantitatively, we examined the boundaries of management accounting by analysing 506,753 and 1,075,838 cited references from each respective database in the timespans 1945–2018 and 1960–2018 and found that the five most cited journals represent 6.5% and 4.7% of the total citations. The most cited journal in both Web of Science and Scopus is AOS, followed by MAR. The findings are discussed in light of diversity, and the article will claim that the boundaries of management accounting research are not subject to severe constraints. Google Scholar was initially chosen alongside Web of Science and Scopus, but, among other challenges, Google Scholar does not provide comparable citation data. Therefore, issues concerning using citation data and databases are also thoroughly discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study explores how the academic environment facilitates the ability of academic librarians at public universities in Ghana to fulfil their research and publication mandate. A web survey of academic librarians was conducted to explore the opportunities and resources for research. Based on a bibliometric analysis of journal articles, the study also investigated the nature of research production of academic librarians in Ghana, specifically their co-authorship patterns, publication outlets and research visibility. The results show that academic librarians mainly produce single-authored articles and articles that are co-authored within their home institution, with a preference for publishing in local journals. Their research visibility, operationalised as time-based citation scores derived from data in Google Scholar, is also limited in light of a lack of international co-authorship. Opportunities and resources for project participation, funding, conference participation and publishing are all mostly linked to having completed a research qualification. The results further suggest that, for some librarians, it seems indeed possible to engage in research despite the odds. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
