Abstract

По отриманим раніше коефіцієнтам аналітичної форми хвильової функції дейтрона в координатному представленні для нуклон-нуклонного потенціалу Reid93 розраховані поляризаційні спостережувані в A(d,d’)X- реакціях. Обчислені величини тензорної Ауу і векторної Ау аналізуючих здатностей порівнюються з експериментальними даними в t- масштабуванні. В моделі імпульсного наближення також оцінені теоретичні значення тензор-тензорної Kyy та вектор-векторної Ky передач поляризації., По полученным ранее коэффициентам аналитической формы волновой функции дейтрона в координатном представлении для нуклон-нуклонного потенциала Reid93 рассчитаны поляризационные наблюдаемые в A(d,d’)X- реакциях. Рассчитанные величины тензорной Ауу и векторной Ау анализирующих способностей сравниваются с экспериментальными данными в t- масштабировании. В модели импульсного приближения также оценены теоретические значения тензор-тензорной Kyy и вектор-векторной Ky передач поляризации., Introduction: Deuteron wave functions in a convenient form are necessary for use in calculations of polarization characteristics of the deuteron and to evaluate the theoretical values of spin observables in dp- scattering and characteristics of (d,d’)- reactions.Purpose: In the received analytical forms of deuteron wave function in coordinate representation it is necessary to calculate polarization observables Ауу, Ау, Kyy, Ky.Results: On the received coefficients of the analytical forms for deuteron wave function in coordinate space for the nucleon-nucleon potential Reid93 are calculated polarization observables in A(d,d’)X reactions. The obtained values of tensor Ауу and vector Ау analyzing powers have been compared with the published experimental data a t scaling for the inelastic scattering of deuterons on hydrogen, carbon and beryllium. In the impulse approximation are also appraised theoretical values of vector-vector Kyy and tensor-tensor Ky polarization transfers.Conclusion: The obtained values of the polarization observables Ауу, Kyy, Ky can be used to calculate the partial cross sections or spin-flip cross sections.

Abstract

In this paper a general method to measure the longitudinal polarization of $\tau$ lepton in the process $pp \rightarrow Z^{0} \rightarrow \tau\tau$ is described. The method of optimal observable allows to distinguish between the $\tau$ lepton helicity states with maximum possible sensitivity. The optimal observable for the main $\tau$ decay modes ($e/\mu\nu\nu$, $\pi\nu$, $\rho\nu$, $a_{1}\nu$) that can be identified by CMS or ATLAS detectors is described. The analyzing power for $\tau$ polarization can be further gained by taking into account a correlation between longitudinal spin states of $\tau^{+}$ and $\tau^{-}$. The theoretical systematic uncertainty on the $\tau$ polarization measured using the $\tau \rightarrow 3\pi\nu$ decays is estimated to be $(\Delta P_{\tau})_{model} = (1.41 \pm 1.37)\times 10^{-4}$. This value is approximately 50 times smaller than the best uncertainty on $\tau$ polarization measurement given by combination of all LEP results. An approach to propagate the measured $\tau$ polarization averaged over the $Z^{0}$ lineshape and parton density functions to the electroweak parameters is also discussed.

Abstract

During 2015, the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) provided collisions of transversely polarized protons with Au and Al nuclei for the first time, enabling the exploration of transverse-single-spin asymmetries with heavy nuclei. Large single-spin asymmetries in very forward neutron production have been previously observed in transversely polarized p+p collisions at RHIC, and the existing theoretical framework that was successful in describing the single-spin asymmetry in p+p collisions predicts only a moderate atomic-mass-number (A) dependence. In contrast, the asymmetries observed at RHIC in p+A collisions showed a surprisingly strong A dependence in inclusive forward neutron production. The observed asymmetry in p+Al collisions is much smaller, while the asymmetry in p+Au collisions is a factor of 3 larger in absolute value and of opposite sign. The interplay of different neutron production mechanisms is discussed as a possible explanation of the observed A dependence.
