The development of multifunctional optical materials can meet the huge demands of modern optics. Generally, it is difficult to achieve multiple optical properties in one material. In this work, we choose ferroelectric (Ba, Ca)(Ti, Sn)O3 ceramics as the hosts, which are doped with rare earth ion Pr3+. The integration of photoluminescence, ferroelectricity, and piezoelectricity is realized in the Pr3+-doped (Ba, Ca)(Ti, Sn)O3 ferroelectric ceramics. The Pr-BCTS ceramics show excellent piezoelectric properties (Pr-BCTS-I: d33 = 210 pC/N; Pr-BCTS-II: d33 = 350 pC/N). Under 449 nm light excitation, all samples show strong orange-red emission centered at 603 nm, 617 nm, and 643 nm. Photoluminescence performance of the Pr-BCTS-I ceramics with orthogonal and tetragonal phase structure increases after polarization treatment, while that of the Pr-BCTS-II ceramics with rhombohedral and tetragonal phase structure after polarization treatment declines. The mechanism of luminescence modulation and polarization processing is discussed. Current research can provide a feasible example to achieve photoluminescence tunability in a material. Lower Paleozoic carbonate rocks are an important exploration area in craton area of the Tarim Basin, with the proven oil and gas reserves of more than 2.2×108 t, but no large-scale discovery has been made in the Gucheng area so far. The key issues restricting exploration are that the source rock, reservoir scale and law of oil and gas enrichment are unclear. By systematically examining the petroleum geological conditions of Lower Paleozoic carbonate rocks, the following findings are reached: (1) Source rocks of slope-basin facies developed in Cambrian-Lower Ordovician in the Gucheng area. (2) The dolomitized beach in the lower part of Ordovician Yingshan Formation has large-scale reservoirs, good reservoir-cap assemblage and developed gas source faults, and is an important field for increasing reserves and production in the near future; hydrocarbon enrichment is controlled by reservoir and gas source faults, and the central dolomitized beach zone is the main exploration area. (3) The Cambrian platform margin reef beach, large in scale, good in physical properties and close to source rocks, has the possibility to form monolithic gas field; the caprock and preservation conditions are the key factors for hydrocarbon enrichment; the northern part of the phases I and II platform margin reefs has better sealing conditions, and is the main direction of next exploration. (4) Limestone fault solution reservoirs in the upper part of Ordovician Yingshan Formation, controlled by faults and small in scale, but good in reservoir-cap combination, worth exploring. (5) The granular limestone beach of Ordovician Yijianfang Formation is well developed and gas-bearing, but short in exposure dissolution time, and the reservoirs are strongly heterogeneous, and are a potential exploration field. There are many oil and gas fields around the world that are sealed by tight carbonate caprocks. Compared with gypsum rocks and shales, tight carbonate caprocks are characterized by brittleness and ease of structural fracturing and dissolving in acidic groundwater. The breakthrough pressure (BP) is a significant indicator that indicates the sealing capacity of the caprocks. Therefore, we conducted a series of experiments, including effective porosity, permeability, casting thin-sections, BP, mineral composition, microstructural characteristics and clay minerals contents on carbonate samples from Ordovician system in the Kalpin area, Tarim Basin, China to research factors that affect the BP of carbonate caprocks. According to the experimental data analysis, the BP deceases with macropore proportions and increases with proportions of micropore and mesopore volume. Due to the large macropore proportion and low clay content (<10%), expansion of clay minerals with water hardly reduces effective porosity and permeability. Pore throat and cement influence effective porosity and permeability, and thus influence the BP. Generally, the BP decreases with the increase of effective porosity and permeability, and linear correlations exist between the reciprocal of effective porosity (A), −0.48 power of permeability (B) and the BP. Due to the interdependency between A and B, a principal component regression procedure (PCRP) is implemented with the statistical analysis system (SAS) software to eliminate the interdependencies and obtain a fitting formula of BP. The calculated BP with depth by this method matches gas logging results. This study provides a research idea and a mathematical calculation model of the BP of carbonate caprocks to further evaluate and predict carbonate caprocks behaviour. • The influence factors of BP (breakthrough pressure) of carbonate rocks have been investigated for the first time. • PCRP is used by SAS software to deduce a computational formula of BP values of carbonate rocks. • The application effect of the evaluation method of BP values in the Kalpin area shows the feasibility of this method. Abstract Source rocks in Lower Cambrian (Є 1) and Middle-Upper Ordovician (O 2+3) have low S2 values, ranging from 0.01 to 0.34 and 0.01–5.95 mg HC/g Rock, respectively. The averages of TOC are 1.07% and 0.84% for Є 1 and O 2+3 source rocks, respectively. The equivalent vitrinite reflectance values (VREs) indicate that Є 1 rocks are in a high-over mature stage for oil generation, and O 2+3 rocks are sufficiently mature. Four oil seepages from the Yingshan Formation in the Qingsong quarry of the Aksu area and 34 core samples from Є 1 and O 2+3 rocks in the Kalpin area were analyzed for stable carbon isotopes. Moreover, 4 oil seepages and 16 core samples were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Compared with O 2+3 rocks, Є 1 rocks are characterized by lower values of Gammacerane/C 30 hopane (G/H), C 28 /(C 27 + C 28 + C 29) 20R ααα sterane (C 28 %), C 29 /(C 27 + C 28 + C 29) 20R ααα sterane (C 29 %), C 26 20S/C 28 20S triaromatic steroids (C 26 /C 28), (C 26 + C 27)/C 28 triaromatic steroids and (C 26 20R + C 27 20S)/C 28 20R triaromatic steroids, and higher values of C 21 /C 23 tricyclic terpane (C 21 /C 23), C 27 /(C 27 + C 28 + C 29) 20R ααα sterane (C 27 %), and C 35 αβ (22R + 22S) homohopane/αβ C 30 -hopane (C 35 H/H). Background Continued debate exists on the management of displaced 3- or 4-part proximal humeral fractures. Only a few studies have compared the efficacy of proximal humeral locking plates (PHLPs) for treating anatomic neck fractures (ANFs) and surgical neck fractures (SNFs). Methods The medical data of 31 consecutive patients with displaced 4-part proximal humeral fractures treated with PHLPs between May 2013 and April 2015 were reviewed retrospectively. We divided the patients into the ANF and SNF groups and assessed the neck-shaft angle (NSA), sum of the screw tip–articular surface distance, and other parameters postoperatively at 3 days and at 12 months using shoulder radiographs. The Constant-Murley scores were assessed at 3 days, 12 months, and last follow-up. Results The ANF group had a significantly lower mean age and significantly greater mean operative duration, estimated blood loss, and rate of bone grafting. Full or partial osteonecrosis of the humeral head developed in 7 patients and 1 patient in the ANF and SNF groups, respectively. Screw cutout and/or pullout complications occurred in 8 cases in the ANF group but not in the SNF group. In the ANF group, the values for NSA and the sum of the screw tip–articular surface distance changed significantly from 3 days to 12 months postoperatively. There were no significant correlations among the tested parameters. Conclusion ANFs resulted in more complications at a younger age than SNFs. ANF treatment using PHLPs is more prone to a decreased NSA and humeral head osteonecrosis and has poorer clinical outcomes than SNF treatment using PHLPs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract Recently, tumor neoantigens have been attractive for development of personal therapeutic vaccines. However, how to instantly deliver multiple neoantigens for efficient anti-tumor immunity is still challenging. Here, we established a SpyCatcher-modified ferritin nanoparticle platform, which permits convenient and stable covalent conjugation with tumor specific antigens containing SpyTag in a click-link manner. These ferritin nanoparticles are rapidly drained to lymph nodes and target dendritic cells, especially CD8α+ population, upon subcutaneous immunization. Ferritin nanoparticles carrying HPV16 oncogene E7 peptide antigen or MC38 tumor derived mutant neoantigens elicit about 2-3 folds enhanced antigen-specific cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) response than soluble peptide antigens and significantly suppress the growth of E7-related or MC38 tumors. The anti-tumor effect was further enhanced in combination with PD-1 checkpoint blockade. Together, our study provides a ferritin nanoparticle-based, SpyTag/SpyCatcher-enabled click vaccine platform, especially for personalized tumor immunotherapy. Regulatory effects of fragile histidine triad (FHIT) gene on proliferation and apoptosis of osteosarcoma cells were studied. The hFOB1.19 and Saos2 cells were routinely cultured, pcDNA3.1-FHIT overexpression vectors carrying FHIT gene fragments and blank pcDNA3.1 vectors were transfected into Saos2 cells, respectively, and the cells were divided into hFOB, Saos2, transfection and no-load transfection groups. After transfection for 48 h, the cells were collected and analyzed. The expression of FHIT messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) was detected by reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). The expression of FHIT protein was detected by western blot analysis. Cell Counting Kit 8 (CCK8) was used to detect cell proliferation, and flow cytometry was used to detect apoptosis. The expression of FHIT mRNA was significantly decreased in Saos2 group compared with that in hFOB group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The expression of FHIT mRNA was significantly increased in transfection group compared with that in Saos2 group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The expression of FHIT protein was obviously decreased in Saos2 group compared with that in hFOB group, and there was a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). The expression of FHIT protein was obviously increased in transfection group compared with that in Saos2 group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Compared with that in the hFOB group, the cell proliferation rate was remarkably increased in Saos2 group, while the apoptosis rate was remarkably decreased, showing statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The gas metal arc welding (GMAW) is a complicated chaotic dynamic process and its arc electrical signals have the characteristics of both chaos and fractals. The multifractal can accurately depict the geometric characteristics and local scale behaviors of time series signals. Through local and global self-similarity, we can determine the overall characteristics from the local dynamic behaviors of a dynamic system. Here, we used the multifractal theory to obtain the multifractal spectra under different welding parameters, and defined a multifractal spectrum index that described the multifractal spectrum of welding current signals. When the shielding gas flow increases under the short-circuiting mode, the welding process becomes more stable and the multifractal spectrum index decreases. As the welding current increases, the droplet mode gradually changes from the stable short-circuiting mode to the stable spray droplet mode, while the multifractal spectrum index first increases and then decreases. It is confirmed the droplet transfer behavior of GMAW is a complicated chaotic dynamic process, and the current signal has the multifractal characteristics. Purpose: Robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty (r-TKA) facilitates precise bone resection and lower limb alignment, yet accuracy and functional recovery for severe varus/valgus deformity is not well-documented. The aim of study was to investigate whether r-TKA improves implant alignment in the coronal and sagittal view and early functional recovery compared to conventional TKA(c-TKA). Methods: This comparative study included 86 patients with symptomatic knee arthritis who underwent primary TKA at our institution between 1st May and 31th November 2021. Radiological parameters evaluated included hip-knee-ankle angle (HKAA), femoral varus-valgus angle (FVVA), tibial varus-valgus angle (TVVA), posterior tibial slope angle (PTSA), femoral sagittal angle (FSA), posterior condylar offset ratio, and Insall-Salvati index. Operative time, stay length, and complications were reviewed from patient records. The hospital for special surgery (HSS), Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and knee joint motion range were evaluated at the six-month follow-up. Results: The c-TKA and r-TKA groups had no significant differences in HKAA (179.73 ± 3.76°, range: 172.10-188.90° vs. 180.53 ± 2.91°, range: 173.30-188.32°, p = 0.277), FVVA (96.13 ± 2.61°, range: 90.27-101.52° vs. 96.38 ± 2.23°, range: 90.98-100.95°, p = 0.636), and TVVA (88.74 ± 2.03°, range: 83.75–92.74° vs. 89.43 ± 1.83°, range: 85.32–94.15°, p = 1.000). Outlier of mechanical alignment incidence (> 3°) was significantly lower in r-TKA compared with c-TKA, 17.50% (7/40) vs. 41.30% (19/46), (p = 0.017). PTSA of r-TKA remained significantly lower than c-TKA (p = 0.009) in mild-deformity patients. For severe varus/valgus deformity, r-TKA had a significantly lesser HKAA-outlier incidence (p = 0.025), PTSA-outlier incidence (p = 0.019), and lower PTSA (p < 0.001) compared with c-TKA. The r-TKA functional outcome was better than c-TKA regarding HSS (93.12 ± 1.97, range: 90–95, 95%CI:92.11–94.13 vs. 91.33 ± 2.50, range: 85–95, 95%CI:90.20-92.69, p = 0.036), and VAS (0.24 ± 0.44, range:0–1 vs. 0.72 ± 0.75, range:0–2, p = 0.026), knee joint flexion (118.53° ± 8.06, range: 105–130°, 95%CI:114.39-122.67° vs. 112.22 ± 8.09°, range: 100–130°, 95%CI:108.20-116.24° ,p = 0.027) for severe varus/valgus deformity. Conclusion: r-TKA improved lower-limb coronal alignment, sagittal implant position, and early functional recovery for patients with severe varus/valgus deformity of the knee. r-TKA did not confer substantial advantages over c-TKA in both radiological and clinical outcomes for the mild varus/valgus deformity. Road dusts and agricultural soil samples were collected from eight sites close to steel mills, chemical plants, and municipal solid waste incinerator in suburban Shanghai. Sixteen polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) priority controlled list were analyzed quantitatively using GC-MS. The total PAH concentrations ranged from 0.79 to 6.2 μg g in road dust samples with a mean value of 2.38 μg g and 0.26 to 0.54 μg g in agricultural soils with an average of 0.36 μg g. The most abundant individual PAHs were phenanthrene, fluoranthene, pyrene, chrysene, and benzo(b)fluoranthene in dust samples and phenanthrene, fluoranthene, chrysene, and benzo(b)fluoranthene, benzo (k) fluoranthene in soil samples. Dominant compounds were four-ring and five- to six-ring PAHs, which accounted for 41.5 and 31.5 % in dusts and 33.9 and 41.1 % in soils. The spatial distribution of PAHs in dusts and soils was consistent. The wind direction could affect the spatial distribution of PAHs. Organic matter contents were found to be significantly positively correlated with PAH concentrations in both dusts and soils while grain size of particles had no correlation with PAH concentrations and could not significantly influence the distribution of PAH concentrations. PAH isomer ratios showed that combustion of grass, wood, and coal was important sources of PAHs in road dusts and agricultural soils. Toxic equivalent concentrations indicated seven kinds of carcinogenetic PAHs were major toxic equivalent concentration (TEQ) contributors, accounting for 98 % of TEQ, in the road dusts and agricultural soils. Incremental lifetime cancer risk (ILCR) estimation results showed that the PAHs in the dusts and soils had potential cancer risk for both children and adults only by direct ingestion exposure. The TEQ and ILCR values of PAHs in road dusts were much higher than those in soils, which suggested that PAHs in road dusts could be an important source of PAHs in soils. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Pore connectivity is a key parameter affecting the hydrocarbon yield of shale reservoirs, and a quantitative study on it is helpful to evaluate the exploration and development potential of shale gas. In this paper, the shales from the Jurassic Yangxia and Kezilenur Formations in the Kuqa Depression, Tarim Basin, China, were taken as an example, and organic petrography analysis, X-ray diffraction analysis, field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), gas adsorption and helium pycnometry were carried out to determine their petrological, organic geochemical characteristics and pore distribution features. A method for estimating the connectivity of shale with isotherm adsorption curves of a H3 hysteresis loop was established and used to characterize the connectivity of shale pores. The results show that the total pore volume of shale ranges from 2.479 × 10-3 to 20.379 × 10-3 cm3/g, and the specific surface area (SSA) ranges from 1.222 cm2/g to 12.668 cm2/g. The samples' coordination number (Z) is between 1.215 and 3.064, and the percolation cluster length (L) is between 2.429 and 3.859. Shale with more micropores or higher TOC has a larger Z value, indicating that organic matter pores and micropores have better connectivity. There is no correlation between Z and T max , meaning that the effect of maturity on Z is insignificant. The impact of TOC on the L value is also not substantial.
