166. Design and analysis of a 2D grapheneplus (G+)-based gas sensor for the detection of multiple organic gases.

Abstract

A new member of the 2D carbon family, grapheneplus (G+), has demonstrated excellent properties, such as Dirac cones and high surface area. In this study, the electronic transport properties of G+, NG+, and BG+ monolayers in which the NG+/BG+ can be obtained by replacing the center sp3 hybrid carbon atoms of the G+ with N/B atoms, were studied and compared using density functional theory and the non-equilibrium Green's function method. The results revealed that G+ is a semi-metal with two Dirac cones, which becomes metallic upon doping with N or B atoms. Based on the electronic structures, the conductivities of the 2D G+, NG+ and BG+-based nanodevices were analyzed deeply. It was found that the currents of all the designed devices increased with increasing the applied bias voltage, showing obvious quasi-linear current–voltage characteristics. IG+ was significantly higher than ING+ and IBG+ at the same bias voltage, and IG+ was almost twice IBG+, indicating that the electron mobility of G+ can be controlled by B/N doping. Additionally, the gas sensitivities of G+, NG+, and BG+-based gas sensors in detecting C2H4, CH2O, CH4O, and CH4 organic gases were studied. All the considered sensors can chemically adsorb C2H4 and CH2O, but there were only weak van der Waals interactions with CH4O and CH4. For chemical adsorption, the gas sensitivities of these sensors were considerably high and steady, and the sensitivity of NG+ to adsorb C2H4 and CH2O was greater as compared to G+ and BG+ at higher bias voltages. Interestingly, the maximum sensitivity difference for BG+ toward C2H4 and CH2O was 17%, which is better as compared to G+ and NG+. The high sensitivity and different response signals of these sensors were analyzed by transmission spectra and scattering state separation at the Fermi level. Gas sensors based on G+ monolayers can effectively detect organic gases such as C2H4 and CH2O, triggering their broad potential application prospects in the field of gas sensing. Abstract

Under the pressure of environmental performance appraisal and the public's environmental concerns, based on industrial symbiosis and using an evolutionary game, our paper investigates firms' abatement behavior. We explore whether implementing carbon taxation and cap-and-trade or dynamic carbon taxation and cap-and-trade can effectively induce firms to reduce carbon emissions through industrial symbiosis. Moreover, we propose a waste-dependent symbiotic chain between recycling suppliers and manufacturers. Our results indicate that carbon taxation and cap-and-trade can effectively facilitate the formation of a symbiotic chain. In addition, the government should enforce taxation rates and adjust market-oriented carbon trading prices so that the two players can realize a win-win situation through the symbiotic chain. Concerning the evolutionary stability trajectories of the two populations, a mixed strategy existed only under dynamic carbon taxation and cap-and-trade situations. Additionally, we find that the impact of dynamic carbon taxation on the two populations' intention to apply carbon emission reduction has the opposite effect. Further simulations prove that the taxation maximum does not affect the steady state of the recycling suppliers; however, as the taxation maximum rises, the proportion of manufacturers who adopt carbon emission reduction decreases. Abstract

We develop a perfect competitive upstream and downstream manufacturers model in an industrial symbiosis chain that produces partially differentiated products and generates pollution as a byproduct. We investigate the waste emission reduction decision-making of the industrial symbiosis chain in a competitive market while considering environmental regulations imposed by policy-makers or the government in the form of waste emission taxes and subsidies for waste usage. We prove that environmental regulation and market competition positively affect manufacturers' strategies to implement industrial symbiosis. In addition, we discover that implementing industrial symbiosis requires government leadership, while the market mainly plays a supporting role. Similarly, we show that the degree of competition plays a critical role in determining the economic consequences of environmental regulation. Our results suggest that the government or policy-makers should consider market competition when making environmental regulations. Through our simulations, when the upstream and downstream market sizes are the same, we discover that regardless of the market size, as the market competition becomes fiercer, the profit of the centralized model always dominates that of the other models. At the same time, a waste emission contract can be the technique to improve the performance of the decentralized industrial symbiosis chain. Abstract

The magnetic heterostructures provide flexible ways to realize particular magnetic properties that possess both scientific and practical significance. Here, by first-principles calculation, we predict strong Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interactions (DMIs) by constructing CrI3/Metal heterostructures. The underlaying mechanisms are ascribed to the large spin-orbital coupling (SOC) of the I atom and the structural distortion in CrI3 layer caused by substrates. This is different from the traditional way that deposit magnetic films on substrate to generate DMI, wherein DMI is dominated by interlayer hybridization and large SOC of substrates. In addition, both Heisenberg exchange and magnetic anisotropy are modulated dramatically, such as Heisenberg exchange is nearly doubled on Au(111), and the out-of-plane magnetism is enhanced by 88% on Ir(111). Our work may provide a experimentally accessible strategy to induce DMI in layered magnetic materials, which will be helpful to the design of spintronics devices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

182. A Multi-Scale Rebar Detection Network with an Embedded Attention Mechanism.

Abstract

With the rapid development of computer vision and machine vision, methods based on deep learning have achieved good results in the field of object detection, identification, and tracking. However, for the detection and identification of rebars in smart construction sites, it is very difficult to perform accurate real-time detection of rebars by using object detection technology on the equipment in the field because of the problems of the dense cross-section between bundled bars, the mutual adhesion of cross-section boundaries, and mutual occlusion between cross-sections. To address the above problems, we propose a multi-scale rebar detection network RebarNet with an embedded attention mechanism based on YOLOv5, combining the K-means++ algorithm, attention mechanism, a newly designed SD_IoU Loss, and multi-scale feature fusion, aiming to solve the problems of missed and false detection in dense small object detection. Due to the problems of scarce rebar cross-section datasets, no publicly available large datasets, and weak rebar cross-sectional features, we constructed a new rebar cross-sectional dataset, used a semi-automatic annotation method to annotate part of the dataset, and then used the data enhancement algorithm to expand the rebar dataset. The experimental results show that the average accuracy (mAP) of our proposed RebarNet network is 97.9%, which is comparable to mainstream target detection algorithms such as Faster R-CNN, SSD, RetinaNet, CenterNet, CornerNet, YOLOv3, YOLOv4, and YOLOv5s. mAP0.5 is improved by 8.1%, 13%, 26.4%, 25.8%, 26.2%, 11.7%, 7.6%, and 9%, respectively. In addition, the frames per second (FPS) transmission reaches 89 frames per second, the model weight is only 17.0 MB.
