170. Probing Carrier Dynamics in Large-Scale MBE-Grown PtSe2Films by Terahertz Spectroscopy

Abstract

Atomically thin platinum diselenide (PtSe2) films are promising for applications in the fields of electronics, spintronics, and photodetectors owing to their tunable electronic structure and high carrier mobility. Using terahertz (THz) spectroscopy techniques, we investigated the layer-dependent semiconducting-to-metallic phase transition and associated intrinsic carrier dynamics in large-scale PtSe2films grown by molecular beam epitaxy. The uniformity of large-scale PtSe2films was characterized by spatially and frequency-resolved THz-based sheet conductivity mapping. Furthermore, we use an optical-pump-THz-probe technique to study the transport dynamics of photoexcited carriers and explore light-induced intergrain carrier transport in PtSe2films. We demonstrate large-scale THz-based mapping of the electrical properties of transition metal dichalcogenide films and show that the two noncontact THz-based approaches provide insight in the spatial and temporal properties of PtSe2films.

171. GoComfort: Comfortable Navigation for Autonomous Vehicles Leveraging High-Precision Road Damage Crowdsensing

Abstract

Recent years have witnessed rapid advances in autonomous driving technologies. Autonomous vehicles are more likely to be accepted if they drive comfortably to avoid potholes, bumps, and other road damage conditions, especially when there are elderly and disabled passengers on board. Traditionally, sensing road damage conditions is either labor-intensive by field investigation and reporting, or inaccurate by surveillance cameras and driving recorders due to limited perspective. In this paper, we propose GoComfort, a crowdsensing-based framework to provide low-cost and fine-grained comfortable navigation for autonomous vehicles with road damage identification leveraging high-precision road sensing data. First, we propose to exploit city-wide autonomous vehicle fleets as crowdsensing participants, and employ an edge-cloud-hybrid computing paradigm to efficiently collect high-precision road damage-related data, including 3D LiDAR point clouds and street view images. Second, we design an accurate road damage identification model fusing spatial structures of point clouds and texture features of street view images, and use an active learning-based method to address the sparse labels issue. Finally, we devise two comfortable navigation scenarios, i.e., fine-grained road damage avoidance and coarse-grained city-wide navigation, and propose a hierarchical road damage assessment diagram for comfortable route planning. Experiments using real-world road sensing data in Xiamen, China show that our approach identifies road damage conditions with an accuracy of 87.5%, and achieves a user acceptance rate of 93.8% in riding comfort evaluation, outperforming the state-of-the-art baselines.

Abstract

Nowadays, interactive recommendation systems (IRS) play a significant role in our daily life. Recently, reinforcement learning has shown great potential in solving challenging tasks in IRS, since it can focus on long-term profit and can capture the dynamic preference of users. However, existing RL methods for IRS have two typical deficiencies. First, most state representation models use left-to-right recurrent neural networks to capture the user dynamics, which usually fail to handle the long and noisy sequential data in real life. Second, an IRS always needs to handle millions of items, leading to a large discrete action space in RL settings, which has not been fully addressed by the inefficient existing works. To bridge these deficiencies, in this paper, we propose attention-based tree recommendation (ATRec), an efficient tree-structured policy with attention-based state representation for IRS. ATRec uses an attention-based state representation model to effectively capture the user's dynamic preference hidden in the long and noisy sequence of behaviors. Moreover, to improve the learning efficiency, we propose an efficient tree-structured policy representation method, in which a complete tree is devised to represent the policy, and a novel parameter-sharing strategy is introduced. Extensive experiments are conducted on three real-world datasets and the results show the proposed ATRec obtains 42.3% improvement over some of the state of the arts methods in the hit rate and 21.4% improvement in the mean reciprocal rank of the top 30 ranked items. Abstract

Mixed mode fracture is a widely studied topic, while the coupling effects of mixed mode cracking are unclear. In this paper, elastic fracture behaviors and the coupling effects of the mixed mode cracks are studied in detail based on the finite element method, experimental study and linear elastic fracture mechanics. Results show that there always exist II-III coupling effects at the crack tips of mixed mode cracks, which have many effects on the crack tip field and crack propagation behavior. It is found that a mode II component at the tip of a mixed mode crack is the main reason for crack deflection, while the mode III components show no effect. For any mixed mode crack, mode II components at the crack tip can be divided as that by mode II loading which causes plane crack propagation, and by the coupling effect which causes spatial crack propagation. On this basis, a new fracture criterion suitable for any mixed mode crack is proposed, combined with the coupling effect and the linear elastic superposition principle. The research in this paper provides a solution to the problem of an II-III coupling effect in mixed mode fracture research and further promotes the development of fracture mechanics. 198. Zinc Oxide Nanoparticle Improves the Intestinal Function of Intrauterine Growth Retardation Finishing Pigs via Regulating Intestinal Morphology, Inflammation, Antioxidant Status and Autophagy

Abstract

This study was to investigate effects of zinc oxide nanoparticle (Nano-ZnO) on growth, immunity, intestinal morphology and function of intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR) finishing pigs. Six normal birth weight (NBW) and 12 IUGR male piglets were obtained and weaned at 21 d. NBW-weaned piglets fed basal diets (NBW group), IUGR-weaned piglets allocated to two groups fed basal diets (IUGR group) and basal diets further supplemented 600 mg Zn/kg from Nano-ZnO (IUGR+Zn group), respectively. All pigs were slaughtered at 163 d. Results showed: (1) IUGR pigs showed no difference in body weight at 77d and 163d (P > 0.05), while had increased villus height (VH) and villus surface area in jejunum (P < 0.05) and enhanced interleukin-6, TNF-α and NF-κB mRNA expression (P < 0.05) as compared to NBW group; Compared with IUGR group, dietary Nano-ZnO did not affect the body weight (P > 0.05), but increased VH to crypt depth ratio and IgA concentration (P < 0.05) and decreased TNF-α and NF-κB mRNA expression in jejunum (P < 0.05). (2) IUGR increased the number of swollen mitochondria and autolysosomes, and protein expressions of sequestosome-1 (P62) and microtubule-associated protein light chain 3 B/A (LC3B/A) in jejunum as compared to NBW group (P < 0.05); Compared with IUGR group, Nano-ZnO decreased the number of swollen mitochondria and autolysosomes, and P62 and LC3B/A protein expression (P < 0.05). (3) IUGR increased mucosal contents of malondialdehyde and protein carbonyl (PC) and Keap1 protein expression (P < 0.05) as compared to NBW group; Compared with IUGR group, dietary Nano-ZnO increased activities of total antioxidant capacity, catalase, glutathione peroxidase, and glutathione content (P < 0.05), and enhanced nuclear respiratory factor 2 (Nrf2), glutamate-cysteine ligase modifier subunit and glutathione peroxidase 1 mRNA expression, and increased total and nuclear Nrf2 protein expression (P < 0.05), and decreased malondialdehyde and PC content, and Keap1 protein expression (P < 0.05) in jejunum. Results suggested that IUGR pigs showed postnatal catch-up growth and improved intestinal morphology, and dietary Nano-ZnO may further improve intestinal morphology, reduce inflammation, decrease autophagy and alleviate oxidative stress via Nrf2/Keap1 pathway in jejunum of IUGR pigs.
