Abstract

Thispaper presents a novelarray pattern synthesis algorithm based on relaxation optimization. We consider the problem of how to auto-determine the width of mainlobe region in beampattern synthesis. By introducing a slack region and a slack vector, the beampattern synthesis problem can be transformed as a relaxation optimization problem. The relaxation optimization problem is non-convex with an objective of sparsifying the slack vector. The sequential convex optimization procedure is then applied to solve the relaxation optimization problem and find its sparse solution. Representative simulations are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in beampattern synthesis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Background: Obesity is an important underlying cause of central precocious puberty (CPP), but previous large studies are flawed by using just age and breast examination to diagnose CPP. We aimed to determine whether overweight and obesity in childhood increases hormonally diagnosed CPP.Methods: Our retrospective, case-control study recruited 846 children diagnosed as having CPP and randomly sampled 1650 healthy control subjects in Xingtai Third Hospital in China between November 2018 and March 2021. Information was obtained from an electronic medical record and questionnaire investigated in the outpatient visit. Observations were made before the a priori hypothesis. Unconditional logistic regression for analysis was used to determine whether overweight and obesity status and duration of overweight/obesity were associated with CPP.Results: Overweight and obesity were significantly associated with increased odds of CPP among girls, even after adjusting for birth weight, exclusive breastfeeding for 6 month, household income, maternal overweight, paternal overweight, and maternal menarche age (overweight: the adjusted odds ratio (aOR) (95%CI): 1.92 (1.16, 3.24), p = 0.02; obesity: aOR (95%CI): 1.78 (1.13, 3.48), p = 0.03). Furthermore, the effects of overweight and obesity were significant when ongoing for 1 to 2 years, 2 to 3 years, and greater than 3 years, but not at less than 1 year. For boys, association between obesity and increased odds of CPP was observed (aOR (95%CI): 1.68 (1.09, 3.75), p = 0.03). The effects of overweight and/or obesity were only significant when ongoing for greater than 2 years.Conclusions: Prolonged overweight and obesity in early childhood may be risk factors for CPP, especially in girls. Abstract

As a new manufacturing technology, three-dimensional (3D) printing is being applied gradually to all walks of life. 3D printing ceramic materials can solve the problem of hard and brittle materials in shape processing. In this study, precursor ceramic parts were prepared based on the technology of fusion deposition molding. To attain high surface accuracy of ceramic green samples, 3D printer plunger and screw extruders were applied for printing and for comparing the printing results. Two types of slurry extruder were simulated and analyzed. The determined slurry extrusion device was optimized. Results show that the quality of the green sample obtained by the screw extruder is significantly better than that obtained by the plunger extruder. The optimized 3D printer can finish printing the ceramic sample efficiently with the required printing precision.

184. How does work pressure moderate the formation mechanism of revisit intention of leisure tourism destinations

Abstract

Tourism destination choosing intention is the key field of tourism behavior research and tourism marketing. Though previous studies confirm that tourist’s perceived value has a significant impact on tourism destination choosing intention, there has been little research to date the formation mechanism of tourism destination choosing intention. Especially for leisure tourism destination, because of the purpose of leisure, there must be some factors that play an important role in the formation mechanism. This paper, using the hierarchical regression analysis method to analyze the formation of leisure tourism destinations from the perspective of the Theory of Planned Behavior, constructs an extended model of formation mechanism, including leisure value, work pressure and attitude. Using random sampling survey method, the data have been collected in different types of leisure tourism destinations, and have been used to explore the differences in tourists’ revisit intention of leisure tourism destinations under different levels of work pressure. The results show that the perceived value and attitude of leisure tourists have a significant impact on their revisit intention. During the process of activating the impact, the work pressure has apparently negative moderating effects. Among them, the moderating effect on the perceived value is obviously stronger than on the attitude. This study shows that work pressure has a significant moderating effect on the relationship between attitude and revisit intention to leisure tourism destinations, and this moderating effect is also negative. What is more, we show that the moderating effect of work pressure is different on the process how perceived value and attitude of tourists affect their revisit intention to leisure tourism destinations. The moderating effect of work pressure on perceived value is significantly stronger than that on attitude.

186. Survival rates and reproductive ecology of a reintroduced population of the Asian Crested Ibis Nipponia nippon in Shaanxi Qianhu National Wetland Park, China.

Abstract

Summary: Reintroductions aim to re-establish a viable population within the indigenous range of living organisms, especially of threatened species. The population of the Asian Crested Ibis Nipponia nippon, a well-known 'Endangered' bird species, has increased over 100 times since wild populations were rediscovered in 1981, and several reintroduction projects were subsequently carried out in its former range. An experimental release of the Asian Crested Ibis was conducted in Qianhu National Wetland Park located in the southern part of the Loess Plateau, China. It is vitally important to monitor released birds (at least their survival and breeding), to inform subsequent releases in other suitable sites. During extensive post-release monitoring, data on capture-recapture and reproductive status were obtained using banding, radiotelemetry, and field observations. Using the Cormack-Jolly-Seber (C-J-S) model, the average annual survival rates were estimated to be 0.569 (95% CI: 0.353–0.762) for released individuals and 0.643 (95% CI: 0.038–0.987) for all individuals. From 2014 to 2018, a total of 14 breeding pairs produced 28 eggs and 10 fledglings with successful reproduction of the second generation. The mean clutch size was 2.07 ± 0.25 (n = 29), and the breeding success was 34.5%. Predation and poor habitat quality have been shown to be the main factors affecting the reintroduced population at establishment stage. Some management suggestions at the metapopulation and ecosystem levels, including further release, predator control and habitat improvement, have been proposed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

This paper presents a new array response control scheme named complex-coefficient weight vector orthogonal decomposition ($ \textrm{C}^2\textrm{-WORD} $) and its application to pattern synthesis. The proposed $ \textrm{C}^2\textrm{-WORD} $ algorithm is a modified version of the existing WORD approach. We extend WORD by allowing a complex-valued combining coefficient in $ \textrm{C}^2\textrm{-WORD} $, and find the optimal combining coefficient by maximizing white noise gain (WNG). Our algorithm offers a closed-from expression to precisely control the array response level of a given point starting from an arbitrarily-specified weight vector. In addition, it results less pattern variations on the uncontrolled angles. Elaborate analysis shows that the proposed $ \textrm{C}^2\textrm{-WORD} $ scheme performs at least as good as the state-of-the-art $\textrm{A}^\textrm{2}\textrm{RC} $ or WORD approach. By applying $ \textrm{C}^2\textrm{-WORD} $ successively, we present a flexible and effective approach to pattern synthesis. Numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the flexibility and effectiveness of $ \textrm{C}^2\textrm{-WORD} $ in array response control as well as pattern synthesis.
