152. The optimization of pre-slug size in CO2-N2 compound flooding

Abstract

In order to enhance oil recovery in low and ultra-low permeability layer, both of the numerical simulation and physical model experiment have been researched. First, the dynamic distribution of CO1 and N1 in the oil and gas phase in the CO2-N2 compound flooding process was numerically simulated by using the long slim-tube model. The results show that the CO2 slug should have at least 0.3 PV to prevent the impact of N2 channeling effectively. Second, under the experimental conditions of complete miscibility of CO2-crude oil, the two types of natural cores including low and ultra-low permeability, respectively, are used for experimental study on oil displacement. The results confirm that CO2-N2 compound flooding with 0.3 PV CO2 pre-slug can achieve a good result. Finally, a five-point well pattern element model is established by CMG. The recovery and the gas cost of per ton of oil are calculated respectively for CO2-N2 compound flooding and full CO2 flooding at 300 m well spacing of low and ultra-low permeability layer. According to the simulation results, the optimal CO2 pre-slug size in CO2-N2 compound flooding under the condition of low and ultra-low permeability layer five-point well pattern is 0.4 PV.

Abstract

Equol is the most potent soy isoflavone metabolite and is produced by specific intestinal microorganisms of mammals. It has promising application possibilities for preventing chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, breast cancer, and prostate cancer due to its high antioxidant activity and hormone-like activity. Thus, it is of great significance to systematically study the efficient preparation method of equol and its functional activity. This paper elaborates on the metabolic mechanism of equol in humans; focuses on the biological characteristics, synthesis methods, and the currently isolated equol-producing bacteria; and looks forward to its future development and application direction, aiming to provide guidance for the application and promotion of equol in the field of food and health products. Abstract

Salt stress is a major limiting factor that severely affects the survival and growth of crops. It is important to understand the salt stress tolerance ability of Brassica napus and explore the underlying related genetic resources. We used a high‐throughput phenotyping platform to quantify 2111 image‐based traits (i‐traits) of a natural population under three different salt stress conditions and an intervarietal substitution line (ISL) population under nine different stress conditions to monitor and evaluate the salt stress tolerance of B. napus over time. We finally identified 928 high‐quality i‐traits associated with the salt stress tolerance of B. napus. Moreover, we mapped the salt stress‐related loci in the natural population via a genome‐wide association study and performed a linkage analysis associated with the ISL population, respectively. These results revealed 234 candidate genes associated with salt stress response, and two novel candidate genes, BnCKX5 and BnERF3, were experimentally verified to regulate the salt stress tolerance of B. napus. This study demonstrates the feasibility of using high‐throughput phenotyping‐based quantitative trait loci mapping to accurately and comprehensively quantify i‐traits associated with B. napus. 198. Comparing Water Use Characteristics of Bromus inermis and Medicago sativa Revegetating Degraded Land in Agro-Pasture Ecotone in North China.

Abstract

Revegetation with herbaceous plants has been effective in neutralizing land degradation; however, there is limited understanding about the water use characteristics and influences on soil water dynamics of revegetated species for ecological restoration. Hence, the stable isotopic composition of xylem water, soil water and groundwater was measured to investigate the water uptake patterns of Bromus inermis and Medicago sativa in the semi-arid agro-pasture ecotone in North China. Based on hierarchical clustering analysis of soil volumetric water content (SWC), soil was classified into four layers (0–5 cm, 5–10 cm, 10–20 cm and 20–30 cm) as different water sources. The main sources for Bromus inermis were from 20–30 cm (27.0%) and groundwater (24.2%) in May, to 0–5 cm (33.9%) and 5–10 cm (26.8%) in June, became groundwater (54.7%) in July, and then to 10–20 cm and 20–30 cm in August (23.2% and 20.6%) and September (35.1% and 32.1%). Medicago sativa were from groundwater (52.9%) and 20–30 cm (32.4%) in May, to 0–5 cm in June (61.0%), July (39.9%), August (47.6%), and then to 5–10 cm (77.8%) in September. Regression analysis showed a negative relationship between SWC and contribution of water uptake (CWU) (CWU = −2.284 × SWC + 60.833), when the difference in water isotopes was small among soil layers. Finally, the two grassland types showed distinct soil water dynamics shaped by species-specific water use strategies and associated soil pore properties. These results indicate that water use characteristics are species specific and a species combination with less water competition is recommended for sustainable revegetation of degraded land.
