Indonesia as an archipelagic country has a unique location and topography, and the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is observed in this region, resulting in complex weather and climate variability. As a result, Indonesia including Bengkulu experiences regular natural disasters. Stable isotopes (δ18O and δ2H) have been used as natural tracers in solving water resources and water-related problems. The aim of this research is to investigate the variations of stable isotopes in Bengkulu City from three locations, namely Serut and Hitam Rivers and the Universitas Bengkulu (UNIB) lake, and to understand the hydrological processes in Bengkulu City. In this research, samples of surface water from Serut and Hitam Rivers and UNIB Lake in Bengkulu City were collected over five months between December 2018 and April 2019. Stable isotope compositions of these water samples were examined to understand the local hydrological processes. The result shows that the water samples are generally situated at the right side of Local Meteoric Water Line (LMWL) in δ18O and δ2H plot, indicating that water samples are more enriched in 18O and 2H as compared with the rainwater due to fractionation processes. The surface water samples define a local evaporation line with a slope of 6.536 while the LMWL has a slope of 7.848. This result indicates a significant evaporation effect on water bodies. Moreover, the slope of the regression line in all water samples was lower than the LMWL, in order of Serut River (7.696) > Hitam River (6.851) > UNIB Lake (6.436), indicating that UNIB Lake experienced more significant evaporation than river waters, resulting in enrichment in heavy isotopes. Serut River, one of largest river in Bengkulu City, which also plays an important role in flooding in Bengkulu City, has a regression equation similar to the regression line of rainwater (LMWL). It may be indicated that surface water from Serut River is strongly influenced by rainwater. Consequently, high amount of rainfall can affect the water level of Serut River, and can be associated with flooding. Therefore, long-term monitoring of stable isotopes is very important in the future to provide the pattern of changes in isotopic variation, particularly during flood and drought events as climate-disaster mitigation effort.

Self Compacting Concrete (SCC) is concrete with high fluidity so that it can flow and fill the spaces in the mold without the compaction process. This study discusses the effect of the adding of kaolin and polypropylene fibers in order to increase the flowability, compressive strength, flexural strength, and tensile strength in self-compacting concrete. The additional material of kaolin was 5%, 10%, and 15% of the cement weight. The polypropylene fibers were 1%, 1.5%, and 2%. The flowability test, which was used, was Table flow, V-Funnel, and L-Box. Compressive strength testing was conducted when the concrete was 7, 14, and 28 days old. The flexural test was performed with a measurement of 150 x 150 x 600 mm as many as 18 specimens tested at the age of 28 days. The results showed that the addition of kaolin and polypropylene fibers met the flowability specifications of self-compacting concrete. The addition of polypropylene can increase the flexural strength and tensile strength of the concrete beam, but cannot increase the compressive strength of self-compacting concrete.

This study was raised due to problems in learning reading. The researchers saw that teachers and students experience constraints in the learning process. The problem is when students do not understand the content of the reading because students only learn to translate word by word and do not understand the contents of the reading. The purpose of research is to know the strategies used by English teachers and the reasons why did the English teacher choose those strategies to teach English reading comprehension and describe the application using the strategies chosen by English teachers in reading understanding learning. This research is used with research objects of English teachers. The location of this research was at SMK Dharma Bakti 1, Medan. The method of the research was qualitative research. The Instruments of this research were observations and interviews. The results of this study using the strategy of Directed Reading Activity (DRA). DRA is a strategy used to expand and strengthen students’ reading skills. In short this strategy guides students to get information from a text read. So that in its implementation students can more easily understand the text of connecting the various student knowledge that students have. Before it was to build its own understanding and this assumption, this strategy was considered effective because it was able to build a teaching learning process. Making classes more conducive, students are also trained to build good cooperation, students capable of discussion and critical thinking as well as developing understanding after reading.

Kesalahan-kesalahan berbahasa masih ditemukan khususnya pada forum seminar proposal penelitian mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia STKIP Nias Selatan. Dalam kegiatan seminar proposal penelitian mahasiswa sering menggunakan tuturan yang berulang-ulang bahkan kadang menggunakan tuturan yang sehrusnya tidak perlu diucapkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kesalahan berbahasa lisan dalam bentuk kesalahan penghilangan (omission), kesalahan penambahan (addition), kesalahan formasi (misformation), dan kesalahan susun (misordering) dalam kegiatan seminar proposal penelitian mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia tahun akademik 2018/2019. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa yang diuji pada seminar proposal penelitian pada program studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia STKIP Nias Selatan Tahun Akademik 2018/2019. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode dokumentasi yang diawali dengan metode rekam dan dilanjutkan dengan transkripsi data. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik Miles dan Huberman: reduksi data, penyajian data, dan pengambilan kesimpulan. Target akhir tingkat kesiapan teknologi adalah 2. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, ditemukan bahwa kesalahan yang paling banyak dilakukan oleh penutur adalah kesalahan penambahan kata atau frase (52). Sedangkan kesalahan yang paling sedikit terjadi adalah kesalahan penghilangan kata atau frase (24). Selain itu, ditemukan bahwa hampir pada setiap tuturan yang diucapkan oleh mahasiswa peserta seminar terdapat minimal satu jenis kesalahan. Tuturan yang di dalamnya terdapat keempat jenis kesalahan berjumlah 10 kalimat. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa mahasiswa yang diuji pada seminar proposal penelitian masih belum mampu berbahasa Indonesia yang baik dan benar. Mahasiswa masih sering menambahkan kata/frase/klausa yang seyogianya tidak perlu ditambahkan sehingga makna kalimat bagi penutur dan atau pendengar tidak jelas (samar). Hal ini berdampak pada makna wacana secara keseluruhan. Peneliti menyarankan: (1) tenaga pendidik secara khusus pada program studi Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia harus memberikan perhatian khusus pada penanaman cara berbahasa Indonesia yang baik dan benar pada setiap proses pembelajaran; (2) mahasiswa khususnya pada program studi Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia harus selalu belajar dan berlatih menggunakan bahasa Indonesia yang baik dan benar terutama pada situasi formal.

Buildings have an essential function; they are a place for people to carry out various activities, such as social, economic, and religious activities. In a building construction plan, considering multiple factors from strength to architecture is necessary. The issue of limited land in some areas has resulted in the construction of vertical buildings, often known as high-rise buildings. High-rise building construction requires paying attention to various levels of vulnerabilities, especially for projects in earthquake-prone areas. In this study, the levels of vulnerability and vertical irregularity of high-rise buildings were analyzed based on structural rigidity for reinforced concrete structures. Building models including a cube-shaped model, L-shaped model, and U-shaped model were investigated. The STERA 3D program was used to determine the strength values of the structures by providing earthquake loads on each structure model using the time-history analysis method. The El Centro and Kobe earthquakes were tested in these structural models because the earthquakes are known to contribute the most exceptional damage value in the history of earthquake-caused disasters. The assessed parameters of the tested structural models include structural stiffness, the most significant displacement in the structure, the maximum displacement and load relations experienced by the construction, and the hysteretic energy exhibited by the structure. Therefore, the best performed structural model in resisting the load could be obtained. The results showed that the U-shaped building model had the highest stiffness value with an increase in stiffness of 7.43% compared with the cube-shaped building model and 3.01% compared with the L-shaped building model.

Penelitian ini membahas pengaruh dari perawatan beton menggunakan air laut dan air sungai terhadap karakteristik beton. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menjelaskan pengaruh dari jenis air pada perawatan beton, khususnya pada beton yang digunakan yang berhubungan langsung dengan air. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan tiga jenis produk semen yaitu Holcim, Tiga Roda dan Gresik dengan total 12 variasi dan 108 benda uji berbentuk silinder berdiameter 15 cm dan tinggi 30 cm. Seluruh variasi menggunakan standar mix design yang sama dengan 6 variasi menggunakan perbedaan jumlah superplasticizer dan 6 variasi menggunakan bahan tambah fly ash. Pengujian yang dilakukan berupa pemeriksaan workabilitas, kuat tekan dan nilai penyerapan. Hasil pada pengujian ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai workabilitas pada beton menggunakan superplasticizer lebih baik dibandingkan beton menggunakan bahan tambah fly ash. Hasil kuat tekan menunjukkan bahwa seluruh benda uji dengan perawatan air laut lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan beton menggunakan perawatan air sungai. Sedangkan nilai penyerapan menunjukkan bahwa pada umur 28 hari dengan menggunakan air laut menghasilkan nilai yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan perawatan menggunakan air sungai. This study will discuss the effect of concrete treatment using sea water and river water on the characteristics of concrete. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of water types in concrete treatment, especially for concrete used directly in contact with water. In this study three types of cement brands, Holcim, Tiga Roda and Gresik were used with a total variation of this study as many as 12 with the number of test specimens of 108 cylindrical concrete measuring 15cm in diameter and 30 cm in height. All variations use the same mix design and then modified with 6 variations using super-plasticizer added material while the remaining 6 variations use material added admixture in the form of fly ash which then carried out workability testing, compressive strength and percentage of absorption. The results of this study indicate that the level of concrete workability using superplasticizer added material is much better than using materials added by fly ash. The results of the compressive strength obtained showed that almost all specimens with soaking seawater had a higher compressive strength than concrete with treatment with river water. Absorption results show that at 28 days the seawater absorption rate is greater than river water.

Anemia is a disease associated with pregnant women. The incidence of anemia due to iron mineral deficiency. This studi aims to determine the effect of giving dates drink to increasing haemoglobin levels in pregnant women with anemia in Rumah Sakit Grandmed Lubuk Pakam. This research method is quasi experiment with pre and posttest design. The population in this study is pregnant women with anemia in Rumah Sakit Grandmed Lubuk Pakam. The sample is 38 people consisting. In the treatment group was given intervention dates drink as much as 240 ml every day for 10 days. From the result of this research the majority of haemoglobin levels increased.The average haemoglobin levels after giving dates drink of 10 mg/dl. The result of the analysis with T-test was obtained p Value 0,000, it can concluded that there is the effect of determine the effect of giving dates drink to increasing haemoglobin levels in pregnant women with anemia.

Background: Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) with intermediate resistance to Vancomycin (VISA) is reported worldwide. These strains frequently emerge among hospital-associated (HA)-MRSA and rarely within community-acquired (CA)-MRSA. Here, the genomic and transcriptomic adaptations distinguishing VISA daptomycin resistant (DAP-R) CA-MRSA, which emerged in a hospitalized patient under glycopeptide treatment, were explored. Methods: Whole-genome sequencing, RNA-Seq and bioinformatics were carried out. Results: Our CA-MRSA clustered in the USA400 lineage showing additional antimicrobial resistance (AMR) versus DAP and glycopeptides. Resistomics revealed adaptations related to glycopeptide, daptomycin and rifampin resistance (mprF nsSNPS and overexpression of glycopeptide and daptomycin-resistance related genes). Similar changes were detected in virulence traits (agrA HI-nsSNPs and toxin gene underexpression), in which a decrease was observed despite the abundance of virulence-related genes. Our results predicted a balance in adaptations, decreasing the virulence and biological costs to support the co-occurrence of extensive AMR in a hypervirulent genomic background. Conclusion: Our data show that VISA DAP-R CA-MRSA shifts the potential hypervirulent behavior of CA-MRSA towards the acquisition and maintenance of extensive AMR, by a decrease in virulence and biological costs mediated by a “compensatory modulatory mutation” silencing the Agr quorum-sensing cascade.

Engineering the architecture of materials is a new and very promising approach to obtain vibration isolation properties. The biggest challenge for lattice structures exhibiting vibration isolation properties is the trade-off between compactness and wide and low-frequency bandgaps, i.e., frequency ranges where the propagation of elastic or acoustic waves is prohibited. Here, we, both numerically and experimentally, propose and demonstrate a new design concept for compact metamaterials exhibiting extraordinary properties in terms of wide and low frequency bandgap and structural characteristics. With its 4 cm side length unit cell, its bandgap opening frequency of 1478 Hz, its band-stop filter behavior in the range 1.48–15.24 kHz, and its structural characteristics, the proposed 1 × 1 × 3 metastructure represents great progress in the field of vibration isolation and a very promising solution for hand-held vibration probes applications that were unattainable so far through conventional materials. The potential reactivity of a coarse recycled concrete aggregate (CRCA) obtained from concrete damaged by alkali–silica reaction (ASR) was evaluated by the concrete prism test method. Different recycled aggregate replacement percentages and exposure conditions were considered. Moreover, the use of Portland-limestone cement (PLC) as a preventive measure to mitigate the deleterious effect of ASR according to the Argentinian regulation was considered to evaluate the residual expansion of the CRCA. Expansions were recorded up to the age of 156 weeks, and different mechanical properties were also determined. The use of ordinary Portland cement (OPC) leads to an increase in ASR expansions for recycled concretes as CRCA content increases, whereas when PLC is used, expansions remain lower than the limits fixed in the standard test method, even at older ages.
