The day-ahead wind power forecast is essential for the designation of dispatch schedules for the grid and rational arrangement for production planning by power generation companies. This paper specifically investigates the effect of adding noise to the original wind data for forecasting models. Linear regression, artificial neural networks, and adaptive boosting predictive models based on data-intensification white noise and uniform noise are evaluated in detail and their superiority over the original data-based models is compared. The results demonstrate that solely injecting noise into the dataset can statistically boost the performance of all forecasting models with learning algorithms. The findings of this study suggest a fresh perspective for developing wind power prediction models and carry certain wind energy engineering merits.

The quality of wind data from the numerical weather prediction significantly influences the accuracy of wind power forecasting systems for wind parks. Therefore, an in-depth investigation of these wind data themselves is essential to improve wind power generation efficiency and maintain grid reliability. This paper proposes a novel framework based on machine learning for concurrently analyzing and forecasting predictive errors, called residuals, of wind speed and direction from a numerical weather prediction model versus measurements over a while. The performance of the framework is testified by a wind farm inside the Arctic. It is demonstrated that the residuals still contain significant meteorological information and can be effectively predicted with machine learning and the linear autoregression works well for multi-timesteps predictions of overall, East–West,​ and North–South wind speeds residuals by comparing the four forecast learning algorithms’ performance. The predictions may be applied to correct the NWP wind model, making quality feedback improvements for inputs for wind power forecasting systems.

Chasing is one of the main decorative techniques found in metal work. The imprints left by different chasing tools are unique not only to the tool, but also to the chaser. The analysis and characterisation of toolmarks provide vast information that is valuable for the understanding of an object. Microtopography is a non-contact imaging technique that allows a metrical analysis of a surface on a microscopic scale. In this paper, metal mock-ups made using different chasing tools were scanned using microtopography, and their morphological features were used to classify the tools used for their fabrication. The mock-ups were artificially aged to replicate conditions of real archaeological metal objects. The overall classification accuracy obtained for the non-aged mock-ups was 91% for brass and 84% for copper mock-ups. After ageing, the classification accuracy was 65% for brass and 68% for copper. The change in classification accuracy before and after ageing was caused by the corrosion on the aged mock-ups. These results show that this is a promising methodology that could be applied on real chased metal objects.

Neurometabolic disorders such as tyrosinemia type 1 (TYRSN1) may interfere with brain metabolism and show symptoms of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in patients treated with the enzyme inhibitor nitisinone [2-(2-nitro-4-trifluoromethylbenzoyl)-1,3-cyclohexanedione, NTBC]. It has been reported that ADHD treatment improves treatment compliance, which is imperative for the long-term prognosis of patients with TYRSN1. In this study, we report the case of a male patient who was diagnosed with TYRSN1 at 3 months of age and was subsequently treated with NTBC, restricted protein intake, and amino acids supplementation. At 7 years of age, he was referred for neuropsychiatric assessment, diagnosed with ADHD, and treated with methylphenidate. The effects of the treatment were monitored via parental interviews, questionnaires covering ADHD symptoms, and a continuous performance test. A reduction in ADHD symptoms, particularly inattentiveness, was observed across all measures. The early identification of ADHD and the treatment of neurometabolic disorders, such as TYRSN1, may be important from a lifetime perspective as this may improve the prognosis of the medical condition as well.

BACKGROUND The stomach-derived hormone ghrelin stimulates appetite, but the ghrelin receptor is also expressed in brain circuits involved in motivation and reward. We examined ghrelin effects on decision making beyond food or drug reward using monetary rewards.METHODS Thirty participants (50% women and 50% men) underwent 2 fMRI scans while receiving i.v. ghrelin or saline in a randomized counterbalanced order.RESULTS Striatal representations of reward anticipation were unaffected by ghrelin, while activity during anticipation of losses was attenuated. Temporal discounting rates of monetary reward were lower overall in the ghrelin condition, an effect driven by women. Discounting rates were inversely correlated with neural activity in a large cluster within the left parietal lobule that included the angular gyrus. Activity in an overlapping cluster was related to behavioral choices and was suppressed by ghrelin.CONCLUSION This is, to our knowledge, the first human study to extend the understanding of ghrelin’s significance beyond the canonical feeding domain or in relation to addictive substances. Contrary to our hypothesis, we found that ghrelin did not affect sensitivity to monetary reward anticipation, but rather resulted in attenuated loss aversion and lower discounting rates for these rewards. This article explores belonging as social interaction in relation to power and values. Power has both positive and negative aspects. We view children as active agents with the power to include or exclude others, create space for each other or set boundaries. The article shows how children's powers are limited by education staff's structural power and discusses the ethical and pedagogical implications of children's and staff's use of power. We find that well-considered use of power may widen children's horizons and provide them with social opportunities that they would otherwise miss. The data consist of video observation and interviews with children and teachers in three Early Childhood Education and Care settings in Norway. The article uses a lifeworld hermeneutical approach to study children's belonging as a complex and sometimes ambiguous phenomenon. The article shows that children's possibilities to position themselves and belong are made possible and limited by their social group via relational and structural power. By becoming aware of these contradictory tendencies, teachers can provide children with a variety of social experiences that promote belonging, which requires knowledge of how groups are formed by dynamic power relations that condition different social experiences.

Det finnes i dag mange studier for oppfølging og veiledning av ph.d.-studenter, men tilsvarende få for mastergradsstudenter, til tross for at den store majoriteten av studenter avslutter utdanningen med nettopp mastergraden. Kartlegging viste at mange studenter er usikre på sin egen rolle i arbeidet med masteroppgaven. I tillegg har mange lav motivasjon og mestringstro. Vi har sett på hvordan veiledning og rammer kan gjøres bedre med små og enkle grep, blant annet ved å oppmuntre studentene til å jobbe med laboratoriearbeid, teori og skriving parallelt. De viktigste tiltakene som ble gjennomført, er aktiv bruk av læringsplattformen, bedre opplæring innen litteratursøk og mer øvelse i muntlig og skriftlig formidling. Resultatene viser at studentene ble mer drevet av indre motivasjon, føler mer eierskap og har økt mestringstro etter at tiltakene ble innført.

The work presented in this paper is part of a wider research project, which aims at documenting and analyzing stained glass windows by means of hyperspectral imaging. This technique shares some similarities with UV-VIS-IR spectroscopy, as they both provide spectral information; however, spectral imaging has the additional advantage of providing spatial information, since a spectrum can be collected in each pixel of the image. Compared to UV-VIS-IR spectroscopy, spectral imaging has rarely been used for the investigation of stained glass windows. One of the objectives of this paper is, thus, to compare the performance of these two instruments to validate the results of hyperspectral imaging. The second objective is to evaluate the potential of analyzing colored-glass pieces in reflectance modality and compare the results with those obtained in transmittance, in order to highlight the differences and similarities between the two approaches. The geometry of the systems and the backing material for the glass, as well as the characteristics of the glass pieces, are discussed. L*a*b* values obtained from the spectra, as well as the calculated color difference ΔE00, are provided, to show the degree of agreement between the instruments and the two measurement modalities.

Many pupils experience restricted participation in Swedish schools due to a non-inclusive learning environment. Partnering for Change (P4C) is an evidence-based service delivery model, developed and employed successfully in Canada to create inclusive learning environments. P4C could potentially be used in Swedish schools, but its feasibility outside Canada is unknown. The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility of P4C in Swedish compulsory schools. Fifteen interviews with teachers, occupational therapists (OT), and principals conducted after four months of applying P4C in seven classes, were analysed using deductive content analysis based on five feasibility areas. Quantitative questionnaire data concerning implemented interventions were analysed using descriptive statistics. Findings showed that participants considered P4C acceptable and its implementation possible. P4C integrated well with, and extended, schools' existing work on inclusive learning environments. Teachers and OTs implemented 83 interventions, indicating a need for improvements in the learning environment, which P4C helped to address, as positive effects for both pupils and teachers were noted. In summary, P4C was considered feasible in fostering inclusive learning environments in Swedish compulsory schools, offering potential value to the pupil health team without requiring further adaptions. Hepatitis B reactivation (HBVr) can occur due to a variety of immune-modulating exposures, including multiple drug classes and disease states. Antiviral prophylaxis can be effective in mitigating the risk of HBVr. In select cases, clinical monitoring without antiviral prophylaxis is sufficient for managing the risk of HBVr. This clinical practice guideline update aims to inform frontline health care practitioners by providing evidence-based practice recommendation for the management of HBVr in at-risk individuals. The Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation framework was used to assess evidence and make recommendations. The panel conducted a systematic evidence review to identify new studies since publication of the first version of this clinical practice guideline in 2014. The Evidence to Decision framework was used to develop recommendations regarding the role of antiviral prophylaxis and monitoring without antiviral prophylaxis for management of HBVr. Clinical recommendations were based on the balance between desirable and undesirable effects, patient values, costs, and health equity considerations. The panel agreed on 4 recommendations. Based on evidence and baseline risk assessment, the panel made a strong recommendation in favor of antiviral prophylaxis for individuals at high risk of HBVr. For individuals at moderate risk of HBVr, a conditional recommendation was made in favor of antiviral prophylaxis. For individuals at low risk of HBVr, a conditional recommendation was made in favor of monitoring alone without antiviral prophylaxis. Monitoring should be performed at 1- to 3-month intervals, and must include assessment of hepatitis B viral load in addition to assessment of alanine aminotransferase. For individuals deemed to be at-risk of HBVr, the panel agreed on a strong recommendation in favor of testing for HBV; given universal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention screening guidance for hepatitis B for all adults 18 years and older by testing for HBV surface antigen, hepatitis B surface antibody, and total hepatitis B core antibody, stratifying screening practices by magnitude of HBVr risk is no longer needed. This document provides updated guidance for the management of HBVr in at-risk individuals. Limitations and gaps in the evidence are highlighted. Abstract\nIMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONChildren with acquired brain injury (ABI) are at risk of developing cognitive, physical, or emotional impairments that affect their daily lives at home, school, and in society. Purpose: To explore this, we used the Swedish version of the Child and Family Follow-up Survey (CFFS-SWE) to describe the participation of 39 children (aged 5–17 years) who had sustained ABIs. Materials and Methods: We assessed their participation using the CFFS-SWE at three points: upon discharge from the acute hospital, six months post-discharge, and between one and four years after discharge. Results: Findings revealed that 69% of the children had rehabilitation needs at discharge, with physical symptoms, pain, mobility, and visual difficulties being the most common. Environmental barriers to participation included family stress, inadequate information about diagnosis and/or treatment, lack of assistance in school, and lack of family finances. Additionally, 31% of the sample had unmet support needs in everyday life. Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies have the potential to enhance learning, teaching, and assessment by providing AI-generated feedback to students. This study used five different AI plug-ins and four different knowledge bases for the optimization of feedback in classroom formative assessments. The sample consisted of 26 students and 13 teachers at five secondary schools in Norway. Interviews and unstructured observations were used to collect data. The findings indicate that AI-generated feedback is appreciated by both students and teachers. It provides immediate subject-specific, concrete, and relevant feedback. High-performing students were motivated to further improve their writing. However, some students found the feedback to be too general or complicated, and the teachers who had not conducted whole-term periodic planning struggled with using AI for formative assessment purposes. Finally, both students and teachers contend that the teacher needs to have the last word when AI takes over formative feedback procedures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Carbon dioxide is emitted in several industrial processes and contributes to global warming. One of the industries that is considered a significant emitter is metallurgy. Therefore, it is necessary to search for and implement methods to reduce its emissions from metallurgical processes. An alternative option to the use of conventional coke, which is produced solely from fossil coal, is the utilization of bio-coke. The production of bio-coke involves the use of coking coal and the incorporation of biomass-derived substances such as biochar (charcoal). The article presents the results of the research on the influence of the biochar addition on the structural, textural, and technological properties of produced bio-coke. Research on the production and analysis of the properties of the obtained bio-coke aimed at assessing the potential possibilities of applying it in the process of a carbothermal reduction of manganese ore in order to smelt ferroalloys. Studies have shown that biochar addition to the coking blend in an amount of up to 20% allows a bio-coke characterized by properties enabling the mentioned use to be obtained. Bio-coke was characterized by higher CO2 reactivity index (CRI), lower post-reaction strength (CSR), and higher reactivity to synthetic manganese ore than regular metallurgical coke. Purpose: To describe the distribution and extent of the physiotherapy students' digital competence, using the European Digital Competence Framework (DigComp). Materials and methods: Two focus group interviews with second-year students enrolled in a Physiotherapy Bachelor study program were conducted. Meaningful units from the interviews were linked to a competence area of DigComp and rated on a 4-point ordinal scale. Results: Based on the accounts from 10 participants, a total of 208 meaningful units, were identified. Of these 155 (74.5%) were coded, while 53 (25.5%) remained uncategorised. The competence area Problem solving accounted for 49% of the instances, Communication and collaboration, and Data literacy each accounted for 21%, Safety accounted for 8%, and Digital content creation for 3%. The overall proficiency level score was a mean of 1.99 (SD = 0.83), indicating an intermediate level of digital competence. Conclusions: This study uncovered an uneven distribution of digital competence among physiotherapy students, highlighting the absence of several potentially clinically important competencies. Moreover, the students' overall proficiency level in digital competence was determined to be at an intermediate level. Deficiencies in their digital competence could have implications for critical clinical aspects, including integrating digital content in patient interactions and addressing safety concerns. There is a renewed interest in third sector organizations with hope for contributions to systems of new public governance and welfare services. This study is based on a survey to the local authorities in Sweden and aims to analyze how collaboration between public and third sector organizations occurs at the local level. A special focus for the study is idea-driven public partnerships (IOPs). The results indicate that collaboration mainly occurs outside of the core fields of welfare and also that the national level agreements set standards to be used in especially the larger local authorities who are more in need of formalized policies to handle the local relations. The institutionalized collaborative relations are diverse and mainly meant to promote a thriving third sector for its democratic values, but there are also certain welfare fields with less local remit such as sports, leisure time activities, and homelessness where NPOs are not crowded out by the public sector.
