The purpose of this study was to explore whether or not synchronous neural activity changes were measured with the regional homogeneity (ReHo) method in acute EP patients.Methods: A total of 20 patients (15 males and 5 females) with EP and 20 healthy controls (HCs) consisting of 15 and 5 age-, sex-, and education-matched males and females, respectively, underwent resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging. The ReHo method was applied to assess synchronous neural activity changes.Results: Compared with HCs, acute EP patients had significantly lower ReHo values in the left precentral/postcentral gyrus (Brodmann area [BA]3/4), right precentral/postcentral gyrus (BA3/4), and left middle frontal gyrus (BA6). In contrast, higher ReHo values in acute EP patients were observed in the left superior frontal gyrus (BA11), right inferior parietal lobule (BA39/40), and left precuneus (BA7). However, no relationship was found between the mean ReHo signal values of the different areas and clinical manifestations, which included both the duration and degree of pain in EP patients.Conclusion: Our study highlighted that acute EP patients showed altered synchronous neural activities in many brain regions, including somatosensory regions. These findings might provide useful information for exploration of the neural mechanisms underlying acute EP. Using the amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) method, this study aimed to evaluate the spontaneous brain activity alterations and their relationships with clinical features in acute EP patients.Participants and methods: A total of 20 patients with EP (15 males and 5 females) and 20 healthy controls (HCs; 15 males and 5 females) closely matched in age, sex, and education underwent resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging scans. The ALFF method was applied to assess spontaneous brain activity changes. The ALFF values of the EP patients were distinguished from those of the HCs using a receiver operating characteristic curve. Pearson’s correlation analysis was used to investigate the relationships between the mean ALFF signal values from many brain regions and the clinical features in EP patients.Results: Compared with the HCs, acute EP patients had significantly lower ALFF in the left and right precentral/postcentral gyrus and left precuneus. In contrast, acute EP patients showed higher ALFF values in the right and left parahippocampal gyri and left caudate. However, no relationship was observed between the mean ALFF signal values from the different areas and clinical manifestations in the acute EP patients.Conclusion: We demonstrated that acute EP patients showed abnormal intrinsic brain activities in the precentral/postcentral gyrus and limbic system, which might provide useful information for explaining neural mechanisms in EP patients. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to systematically evaluate the effectiveness and safety of using different doses of estrogen in the treatment of perimenopausal osteoporosis in China. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Computer searches of the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Embase, CBM, CNKI, WanFang Date, and VIP databases were conducted. Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) on different doses of estrogen for the treatment of osteoporosis in Chinese perimenopausal women were searched for the period 01/01/2000-06/09/2022. Document screening and data extraction were completed independently by 2 researchers and assessed using the Cochrane recommended risk bias assessment tool for RCTs. The software used for analysis in this study was Stata, version 16.0. RESULTS: A total of 10 RCTs with a cumulative total of 804 patients were included. Meta-analysis results showed that low doses of estrogen were more effective in improving patient outcomes [OR=0.521, 95% CI (0.300-0.907), z = 2.31, p = 0.05] and bone mineral density [SMD = -0.218, 95% CI (-0.42,-0.016), z = 2.11, p = 0.05] was not superior. For bone metabolism and sex hormone indicators, the standard dose group had a slight advantage, but the difference was small (p > 0.05) and not statistically significant. With regard to safety, the incidence of adverse reactions was higher with the standard dose of estrogen. CONCLUSIONS: In China, standard doses of estrogen are used for clinical effectiveness. However, vigilance must be maintained for potential safety concerns that may arise during treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The multi-markers combined detection can make up for the deficiency of single marker detection and significantly increase the positive detection rates of tumors. This study aimed to assess the performance of serum HER-2 extracellular domain (HER-2/neu ECD), carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), and cancer antigen 15-3 (CA15-3) in early screening and auxiliary diagnosis of breast cancer. The HER-2, CEA, and CA15-3 serum levels were measured in 164 healthy volunteers, 111 patients with benign nodules (BN), 123 with early breast cancer (EBC), and 25 with advanced breast cancer. In distinguishing health and EBC, the sensitivity and specificity of joint detection of HER-2, CEA, and CA15-3 were 96.75% and 96.95%, respectively; the accuracy was up to 96.19%, and the AUC was 0.994. In the cohort for distinguishing BN from EBC, serum HER-2, CEA, and CA15-3 sensitivities were 77.03%, 75.27%, and 48.65%, respectively. Combined with three markers, the sensitivity was increased to 84.46%, the AUC was 0.834. All in all, through the combined detection of serum HER-2, CEA and CA15-3 levels in healthy volunteers, BN and EBC, our study found that this method can significantly improve the diagnosis level of breast cancer, suggesting that the three markers panel can be used as an effective tool to improve the early screening level, early diagnosis, and clinical intervention of breast cancer. Here, we report a case to review this disease.Case report: The proband is a five-and-a-half-year-old girl who has had phenotypes manifested mainly by ptosis, broad face, broad neck with low posterior hairline, mental retardation, short stature, and other malformations. Chromosomal analysis for her mother showed a normal karyotype. Her father and younger brother were phenotypically normal.Result: Phenotypical features were quite similar throughout other cases and in accordance with the usual phenotype of del(18p) suggested within the same cases and among the del(18p) cases described. She underwent blepharoplasty, which improved her appearance.Conclusion: 18p deletion syndrome is diagnosed by gene analysis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association among NEDD9 expression, E-cadherin expression, and survival in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients. Methods: NEDD9 and E-cadherin expressions were analyzed by immunohistochemistry in 106 TNBC patients and 120 non-TNBC patients. And the association of clinicopathological factors with survival was analyzed using Kaplan–Meier analysis and Cox regression in TNBC patients. An innovative divertor concept, the fish tail divertor, is proposed in this paper, aimed at reducing the surface temperature on the tokamak divertor plate as well as that due to the edge localized modes. This new concept has been implemented in experiments to demonstrate its capability of strike point sweeping on the plate at a frequency range from 10 to 100 Hz by using an oscillating magnetic field. A strike point movement of 5–6 cm is achieved by applying a coil current of several percent of plasma current, leading to a significant reduction of divertor surface temperature. However, the role of this polymorphism in the prognosis of GC remains largely elusive. Sequenom MassARRAY platform method and the polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-restriction fragment length polymorphism were used to investigate pri-let-7a-1 rs10739971 G→A in 334 GC patients. Real-time PCR detected expression of mature let-7a in serum and tissue. Patients with AA or GA+AA genotypes of the pri-let-7a-1 rs10739971 polymorphism demonstrated significantly longer survival time than those with the wild GG genotype. Stratified analysis indicated that survival time was significantly longer in women with AA or GA+AA genotypes and in Borrmann type I/II patients with GA heterozygote or GA+AA genotypes. AA genotype was more frequent in the lymphatic-metastasis-negative subgroup. Serum mature let-7a expression in healthy people with the GA heterozygote and the GA+AA genotype was higher than in those with the GG genotype, and the difference remained significant in the female healthy subgroup. Pri-let-7a-1 rs10739971 polymorphism might be a biomarker for GC prognosis, especially for female and Borrmann type I/II patients. The pri-let-7a-1 rs10739971 polymorphism might affect serum mature let-7a expression, and partly explain the mechanism of the relationship between the pri-let-7a-1 rs10739971 polymorphism and GC survival.
