Motivated by the latest improved measurements of B-meson decays, we make a comprehensive analysis of the impact of a family non-universal $Z^{\prime}$ boson on $B_s-\bar{B}_s$ mixing and two-body hadronic B-meson decays, all being characterized by the quark-level $b\to s$ transition. Explicitly 22 decay modes and the related 52 observables are considered, and some interesting correlations between them are also carefully examined. Firstly, the allowed oases of $b-s-Z^{\prime}$ coupling parameters $|B^{L,R}_{sb}|$ and $\phi^{L,R}_s$ are extracted from $B_s-\bar{B}_s$ mixing. Then, in the "SM limit"~({\it i.e.,} no new types of $Z^{\prime}$-induced four-quark operators arise compared to the SM case), we study the $Z^{\prime}$ effects on $B\to\pi K$, $\pi K^{\ast}$ and $\rho K$ decays. It is found that a new weak phase $\phi^{L}_s\sim -90^{\circ}$ is crucial for resolving the observed "$\pi K$ CP puzzle" and the allowed oases of the other $Z^{\prime}$ coupling parameters are also strongly restricted. Moreover, the $Z^{\prime}$ effects on $\bar{B}_s\to K K$, $K K^{\ast}$ and $\pi^0 \phi$ decays, being induced by the same quark-level $b\to s q\bar{q}~(q=u,d)$ transitions, are also investigated. Especially, it is found that the decay $\bar{B}_s \to \pi^0 \phi$, once measured, would play a key role in revealing the observed "$\pi K$ CP puzzle" and probing possible new physics hints. Finally, to check the non-universality of $Z^{\prime}$ couplings to light-quark pairs, we have studied the $B\to \phi K$ decays in detail and found that the left-handed $s-s-Z^{\prime}$ coupling is different from the $d-d-Z^{\prime}$ one, which is due to the large $A_{CP}^{dir}(B^-\to\phi K^-)$ reported by the BaBar collaboration., Comment: 38 pages, 11 figures; To appear in JPG

In the "Higgs basis" for a generic 2HDM, only one doublet gets a nonzero vacuum expectation value and, under the criterion of minimal flavour violation, the other one is fixed to be either colour-singlet or colour-octet, referred respectively as the type-III and the type-C model. Both of them can naturally avoid large FCNC transitions and provide very interesting phenomena in some low-energy processes. In this paper, we study their effects on exclusive radiative B-meson decays due to the exchange of colourless or coloured charged Higgs. It is found that, while constraints from the branching ratios are slightly weaker than the ones from the inclusive $B\to X_{s} \gamma$ decay, the isospin asymmetries in exclusive decays provide very complementary bounds on the model parameters. As the two models predict similar corrections to the dipole coefficient $C_7^{\rm eff}$ whereas similar magnitudes but with opposite signs to $C_8^{\rm eff}$, the branching ratios cannot discriminate the two models, and we have to resort to the direct CP and isospin asymmetries of $b\to s$ processes, which are more sensitive to $C_8^{\rm eff}$. Due to the CKM factors $|\lambda_u^{(d)}|\sim|\lambda_t^{(d)}|$, the terms proportional to $\lambda_u^{(d)}$ make the observables of $b\to d$ processes exhibit a different dependence on the possible new physics phase. In addition, correlations between the various observables in the exclusive $B\to V\gamma$ and the inclusive $B\to X_{s,d}\gamma$ decays are investigated, which could provide further insights into the models with more precise experimental measurements and theoretical predictions for these decays., Comment: 38 pages, 9 figures, 3 tables; more references and discussions added, matches version published in PRD

A sizable excess with respect to the SM expectation has been reported recently by the BaBar collaboration in the decay rates B -> D(*) Tau Nu, normalized by the corresponding light lepton modes. A violation of lepton flavor universality as suggested by this excess could be due to a charged Higgs mediating these processes at tree level. In this talk we analyze the implications of the observed excess within the framework of two-Higgs-doublet models, considering also the bounds from other semileptonic and leptonic decays of B and D(s) mesons. We analyze the recent experimental evidence for an excess of $\tau$-lepton production in several exclusive semileptonic $B$-meson decays in the context of two-Higgs-doublet models. These decay modes are sensitive to the exchange of charged scalars and constrain strongly their Yukawa interactions. While the usual Type-II scenario cannot accommodate the recent BaBar data, this is possible within more general models in which the charged-scalar couplings to up-type quarks are not as suppressed. Both the $B\to D^{(*)}\tau\nu_\tau$ and the $B\to\tau\nu_\tau$ data can be fitted within the framework of the Aligned Two-Higgs-Doublet Model, but the resulting parameter ranges are in conflict with the constraints from leptonic charm decays. This could indicate a departure from the family universality of the Yukawa couplings, beyond their characteristic fermion mass dependence. We discuss several new observables that are sensitive to a hypothetical charged-scalar contribution, demonstrating that they are well suited to distinguish between different scenarios of new physics in the scalar sector, and also between this group and models with different Dirac structures; their experimental study would therefore shed light on the relevance of scalar exchanges in semileptonic $b\to c\,\tau^-\bar\nu_\tau$ transitions., Comment: 26 pages, 8 figures, 3 tables, pdflatex; references added, final version to appear in JHEP

In the aligned two-Higgs-doublet model, the alignment of Yukawa matrices in flavour space guarantees the absence of tree-level flavour-changing neutral currents, while allowing at the same time for new sources of CP violation, implying potentially large effects in many low-energy processes. In this work we study the constraints from exclusive radiative $B\to V\gamma$ decays, where $V$ denotes a light vector meson. The current experimental data on the CP-averaged branching ratios and the direct CP and isospin asymmetries are analyzed. It is found that, while the branching ratios and direct CP asymmetries do not constrain the parameter space much further compared to the inclusive $B\to X_{s,d} \gamma$ decays, complementary constraints can be obtained from the isospin asymmetries $\Delta(K^*\gamma)$ and $\Delta(\rho\gamma)$. In addition, correlations between the various observables in exclusive $B\to V\gamma$ and inclusive $B\to X_{s,d} \gamma$ decays are investigated in detail, and predictions are made for several so far unmeasured observables., Comment: 35 pages, 15 figures, 4 tables, pdflatex; discussion slightly extended and references added, conclusions unchanged, version to appear in JHEP

Motivated by the very recent measurements performed at the LHCb and the Tevatron of the $B_s^0-\bar B_s^0$ mixing, in this paper we revisit it in a family non-universal $Z^{\prime}$ model, to check if a simultaneous explanation for all the mixing observables, especially for the like-sign dimuon charge asymmetry observed by the D0 collaboration, could be made in such a specific model. In the first scenario where the $Z^\prime$ boson contributes only to the off-diagonal element $M_{12}^s$, it is found that, once the combined constraints from $\Delta M_s$, $\phi_s$ and $\Delta \Gamma_s$ are imposed, the model could not explain the measured flavour-specific CP asymmetry $a_{fs}^s$, at least within its $1\sigma$ ranges. In the second scenario where the NP contributes also to the absorptive part $\Gamma_{12}^s$ via tree-level $Z^\prime$-induced $b\to c\bar{c}s$ operators, we find that, with the constraints from $\Delta M_s$, $\phi_s$ and the indirect CP asymmetry in $\bar{B}_d\to J/\psi K_S$ taken into account, the present measured $1\sigma$ experimental ranges for $a_{fs}^s$ could not be reproduced too. Thus, such a specific $Z^\prime$ model with our specific assumptions could not simultaneously reconcile all the present data on $B_s^0-\bar B_s^0$ mixing. Future improved measurements from the LHCb and the proposed superB experiments, especially of the flavour-specific CP asymmetries, are expected to shed light on the issue., Comment: 30 pages, 6 figures, 1 table, pdflatex; accepted by JHEP

As a top-factory, the LHC is performing a direct study of top-quark anomalous FCNC couplings, which are, however, correlated closely with the rare B- and K-meson decays. In this paper, we study the effects of anomalous $tqZ$ (with $q=u,c$) couplings in the rare decays $B_{s,d}\to \mu^+\mu^-$, $B\to X_s \nu \bar\nu$, $B\to K^{(*)}\nu \bar\nu$, $K^+\to \pi^+ \nu \bar\nu$, and $K_L\to \pi^0 \nu \bar\nu$. With the up-to-date experimental bounds on the branching ratios of these channels, constraints on the left-handed anomalous couplings $X_{ct}^L$ and $X_{ut}^L$ are derived, respectively. With these low-energy constraints taken into account, we find that, for real couplings $X_{ct}^L$ and $X_{ut}^L$, the indirect upper bounds on $\mathcal B(t\to qZ)$ are much lower than that from the D0 collaboration, but are still compatible with the $5\sigma$ discovery potential of ATLAS with an integrated luminosity of $10 {\rm fb}^{-1}$. With refined measurements to be available at the LHCb, the future super-B factories, the NA62 at CERN, and the KOTO at J-PARC, closer correlations between the $t\to qZ$ and the rare B- and K-meson decays are expected in the near future, which will be helpful for the searches of the top-quark FCNC decays at the LHC., Comment: 25 pages, 18 figures, 4 tables; More references added, version published in JHEP

The top-quark FCNC processes will be searched for at the CERN LHC, which are correlated with the B-meson decays. In this paper, we study the effects of top-quark anomalous interactions $tq\gamma$ in the exclusive radiative $B\to K^*\gamma$ and $B\to\rho\gamma$ decays. With the current experimental data of the branching ratios, the direct CP and the isospin asymmetries, bounds on the coupling $\kappa_{tcR}^{\gamma}$ from $B\to K^*\gamma$ and $\kappa_{tuR}^{\gamma}$ from $B\to \rho\gamma$ decays are derived, respectively. The bound on $|\kappa_{tcR}^{\gamma}|$ from ${\mathcal B}(B\to K^{*}\gamma)$ is generally compatible with that from ${\mathcal B}(B\to X_{s}\gamma)$. However, the isospin asymmetry $\Delta(K^{*}\gamma)$ further restrict the phase of $\kappa_{tcR}^{\gamma}$, and the combined bound results in the upper limit, $\mathcal B(t\to c\gamma)<0.21%$, which is lower than the CDF result. For real $\kappa_{tcR}^{\gamma}$, the upper bound on $\mathcal B(t\to c\gamma)$ is about of the same order as the $5\sigma$ discovery potential of ATLAS with an integrated luminosity of $10 {\rm fb}^{-1}$. For $B\to\rho\gamma$ decays, the NP contribution is enhanced by a large CKM factor $|V_{ud}/V_{td}|$, and the constraint on $tu\gamma$ coupling is rather restrictive, $\mathcal B(t\to u\gamma)<1.44\times 10^{-5}$. With refined measurements to be available at the LHCb and the future super-B factories, we can get close correlations between $B\to V \gamma$ and the rare $t\to q\gamma$ decays, which will be studied directly at the LHC ATLAS and CMS., Comment: 25 pages, 15 figures, pdflatex

According to heavy-meson chiral perturbation theory, the vector form factor $f_+(q^2)$ of exclusive semi-leptonic decay $B\to \pi \ell \nu$ is closely related, at least in the soft-pion region (i.e., $q^{2} \sim (m_B-m_{\pi})^2$), to the strong coupling $g_{B^* B\pi}$ or the normalized coupling $\hat g$. Combining the precisely measured $q^2$ spectrum of $B\to \pi \ell \nu$ decay by the BaBar and Belle collaborations with several parametrizations of the form factor $f_+(q^2)$, we can extract these couplings from the residue of the form factor at the $B^*$ pole, which relies on an extrapolation of the form factor from the semi-leptonic region to the unphysical point $q^2=m_{B^*}^2$. Comparing the extracted values with the other experimental and theoretical estimates, we can test these various form-factor parametrizations, which differ from each other by the amount of physical information embedded in. It is found that the extracted values based on the BK, BZ and BCL parametrizations are consistent with each other and roughly in agreement with the other theoretical and lattice estimates, while the BGL ansatz, featured by a spurious, unwanted pole at the threshold of the cut, gives a neatly larger value., Comment: 19 pages, no figure. We perform the two-loop matching calculation for heavy-to-light currents from QCD onto soft-collinear effective theory for the complete set of Dirac structures. The newly obtained matching coefficients enter several phenomenological applications, of which we discuss heavy-to-light form factor ratios and exclusive radiative decays, as well as the semi-inclusive decay anti-B ---> X(s) l+ l-. For this decay, we observe a significant shift of the forward-backward asymmetry zero and find q_0^2 = (3.34 +0.22 -0.25) GeV^2 for an invariant mass cut m_X^cut=2.0 GeV., Comment: 38 pages, 5 figures. Motivated by the measured large branching ratio of $\bar{B}^{0}\to\pi^0\pi^0$ (the so-called "$\pi\pi$" puzzle), we investigate the effects of a family non-universal $Z^{\prime}$ model on the tree-dominated $B\to\pi\pi$ decays. We find that the $Z^{\prime}$ coupling parameter $\zeta_{d}^{LR}\sim0.05$ with a nontrivial new weak phase $\phi_d^L\sim-50^{\circ}$, which is relevant to the $Z^{\prime}$ contributions to the QCD penguin sector $\triangle C_5$, is needed to reconcile the observed discrepancy. Combined with the recent fitting results from $B\to\pi K$, $\pi K^{\ast}$ and $\rho K$ decays, the $Z^{\prime}$ parameter spaces are severely reduced but still not excluded entirely, implying that both the "$\pi\pi$" and "$\pi K$" puzzles could be accommodated simultaneously within such a family non-universal $Z^{\prime}$ model., Comment: 28 pages, 4 figures. Motivated by the observed forward-backward asymmetry in $B\to K^{\ast} l^+ l^-$ decay, we perform a detailed analysis of this decay mode within a family non-universal $Z^{\prime}$ model. With the related coupling $Z^{\prime}-\bar{s}b$ constrained by $\bar{B}_s-B_s$ mixing, $B\to \pi K$, and $B\to X_s \mu^{+}\mu^{-}$ decays, we look for further constraint on the couplings $Z^{\prime}-\mu^{+}\mu^{-}$ from $A_{FB}(B\to K^{\ast} \mu^{+}\mu^{-})_{0 {\rm GeV}^2\leqslant q^2\leqslant 2 {\rm GeV}^2}$ and get numerically $B_{\mu\mu}^{L,R}\sim{\cal O}(10^{-2})$. The colour-suppressed tree amplitude in non-leptonic B decays is particularly sensitive to perturbative and non-perturbative corrections. We calculate the two-loop (NNLO) vertex corrections to the colour-suppressed and colour-allowed tree amplitudes in QCD factorization. Our results are given completely analytically, including the full dependence on the charm quark mass. We then update theoretical predictions for a range of interesting observables derived from pi pi, pi rho, and rho rho final states that do not depend (significantly) on penguin contributions, and hence are now available with NNLO accuracy. We observe good agreement with experimental data within experimental and theoretical errors, except for observables involving the pi^0 pi^0 branching fraction., Comment: 52 pages, 8 figures, 3 tables. Motivated by the large discrepancy of CP-violating phase in $\bar{B}_s-B_s$ mixing between the experimental data and the Standard Model prediction, we pursue possible solutions within a family non-universal $Z^{\prime}$ model. Within such a specific model, we find that both the $\bar{B}_s-B_s$ mixing anomaly and the well-known "$\pi K$ puzzle" could be moderated simultaneously with a nontrivial new weak phase, $\phi^L_s\sim-72^{\circ}$ (S1) or $-82^{\circ}$ (S2). With the stringently constrained $Z^{\prime}$ coupling $B_{sb}^{L}$, we then study the $Z^{\prime}$ effects on the rare $B\to X_s \mu^+\mu^-$ and $B_s\to \mu^+\mu^-$ decays, which are also induced by the same $b\to s$ transition. The observables of $B\to X_s \mu^+\mu^-$, at both high and low $q^2$ regions, are found to be able to put strong constraints on the $\mu-\mu-Z^{\prime}$ coupling, $B_{\mu\mu}^{L,R}\sim10^{-2}$. It is also shown that the combined constraints from $\bar{B}_s-B_s$ mixing, $B\to \pi K$ and $B\to X_s \mu^+\mu^-$ do not allow a large $Z^{\prime}$ contribution to the pure leptonic $B_s\to\mu^+\mu^-$ decay., Comment: 29 pages, 10 figs and 6 tables. Motivated by the large difference between the direct CP asymmetries $A_{CP}(B^-\to \pi^0 K^-)$ and $A_{CP}(\bar{B}^{0}\to \pi^{+} K^{-})$, we combine the up-to-date experimental information on $B\to\pi K$, $\pi K^{\ast}$ and $\rho K$ decays to pursue possible solutions with the nonuniversal $Z^{\prime}$ model. Detailed analyses of the relative impacts of different types of couplings are presented in four specific cases. Numerically, we find that the new coupling parameters, $\xi^{LL}$ and $\xi^{LR}$ with a common nontrivial new weak phase $\phi_L\sim-86^{\circ}$, which are relevant to the $Z^{\prime}$ contributions to the electroweak penguin sector $\triangle C_9$ and $\triangle C_7$, are crucial to the observed "$\pi K$ puzzle". Furthermore, they are found to be definitely unequal and opposite in sign. We also find that $A_{CP}(B^-\to \rho^0 K^-)$ can put a strong constraint on the new $Z^{\prime}$ couplings, which implies the $Z^{\prime}$ contributions to the coefficient of QCD penguins operator $O_3$ involving the parameter $\zeta^{LL}$ required., Comment: 27 pages, 6 figures. We present an analysis of non-leptonic B decays in the minimally flavour-violating MSSM with large tan(beta). We relate the Wilson coefficients of the relevant hadronic scalar operators to leptonic observables, showing that the present limits on the Bs->mu+ mu- and B+->tau nu_tau branching fractions exclude any visible effect in hadronic decays. We study the transverse helicity amplitudes of B->VV decays, which exhibit an enhanced sensitivity to the scalar operators, showing that even though an order one modification relative to the SM is not excluded in some of these amplitudes, they are too small to be detected at B factories., Comment: 16 pages, 2 figures

Combining the up-to-date experimental information on $B\to\pi K, \pi K^{\ast}$ and $\rho K$ decays, we revisit the decay rates and CP asymmetries of these decays within the framework of QCD factorization. Using an infrared finite gluon propagator of Cornwall prescription, we find that the time-like annihilation amplitude could contribute a large strong phase, while the space-like hard spectator scattering amplitude is real. Numerically, we find that all the branching ratios and most of the direct CP violations, except $A_{CP}(B^{\pm}\to K^{\pm}\pi^{0})$, agree with the current experimental data with an effective gluon mass $m_g\simeq0.5 {\rm GeV}$. Taking the unmatched difference in direct CP violations between $B\to\pi^{0} K^{\pm}$ and $\pi^{\mp}K^{\pm}$ decays as a hint of new physics, we perform a model-independent analysis of new physics contributions with a set of $\bar{s}(1+\gamma_{5})b\otimes\bar{q}(1+\gamma_{5})q$ (q=u,d) operators. Detail analyses of the relative impacts of the operators are presented in five cases. Fitting the twelve decay modes, parameter spaces are found generally with nontrivial weak phases. Our results may indicate that both strong phase from annihilation amplitude and new weak phase from new physics are needed to resolve the $\pi K$ puzzle. To further test the new physics hypothesis, the mixing-induced CP violations in $B\to\pi^{0}K_{S}$ and $\rho^{0}K_{S}$ are discussed and good agreements with the recent experimental data are found., Comment: Version published in JHEP

Using the soft-pion theorem and the assumption on the final-state interactions, we include the contribution of $DK$ continuum into the QCD sum rules for $D_{sJ}(2317)$ meson. We find that this contribution can significantly lower the mass and the decay constant of $D_s(0^+)$ state. For the value of the current quark mass $m_c(m_c)=1.286 {\rm GeV}$, we obtain the mass of $D_s(0^+)$ $M=2.33 \pm 0.02 {\rm GeV}$ in the interval $s_0=7.5-8.0 {\rm GeV}^2$, being in agreement with the experimental data, and the vector current decay constant of $D_s(0^+)$ $f_0=0.128 \pm 0.013 {\rm GeV}$, much lower than those obtained in previous literature.

We investigate whether the anomalous tensor operators with the Lorentz structure $\sigma_{\mu\nu} (1+\gamma_{5})\otimes \sigma^{\mu\nu}(1+\gamma_{5})$, which could provide a simple resolution to the polarization anomaly observed in $B\to \phi K^{\ast}$ decays, could also provide a coherent resolution to the large ${\cal B}(B\to \eta K^{\ast})$ and survive bounds from $B\to\eta K$ decays. Parameter spaces satisfying all these experimental data are obtained, and found to be dominated by the color-octet tensor operator contribution. Constraints for the equivalent solution with $(1+\gamma_{5})\otimes(1+\gamma_{5})$ operators are also derived and found to be dominated by the color-singlet one. With the constrained parameter spaces, we finally give predictions for $B_{s}\to \phi \phi$ decay, which could be tested at the Fermilab Tevatron and the LHC-b experiments., Comment: 27 pages, 5 tables and 6 figures.
