Quantum state transfer along a one-dimensional spin chain has become a fundamental ingredient for quantum communication between distant nodes in a quantum network. We study the average fidelity of quantum state transfer (QST) along a XY spin chain by adjusting the basis identification between the first spin and the last spin. In a proper choice of the basis identification, we find that the QST fidelity depends only on the average parity of the initial state linearly. We propose a simple scheme to adjusting the basis identification to optimize the average fidelity such that it depends linearly on the absolute value of the average parity. In the case that the absolute value of the average parity is $1$ we prove that the fidelity takes the maximum at any time over arbitrary initial state and basis identification., 6 pages, 4 figures

We study a class of random block operators which appear as effective one-particle Hamiltonians for the anisotropic XY quantum spin chain in an exterior magnetic field given by an array of i.i.d. random variables. We consider an infinite one dimensional anisotropic XY spin chain with a nearest neighbor time-dependent Heisenberg coupling J(t) between the spins in presence of a time-dependent magnetic field h(t). We discuss a general solution for the system and present an exact solution for particular choice of J and h of practical interest. We investigate the dynamics of entanglement for different degrees of anisotropy of the system and at both zero and finite temperatures. We find that the time evolution of entanglement in the system show non-ergodic and critical behavior at zero and finite temperatures and different degrees of anisotropy. The asymptotic behavior of entanglement at the infinite time limit at zero temperature and constant J and h depends only the parameter lambda=J/h rather than the individual values of J and h for all degrees of anisotropy but changes for nonzero temperature. Furthermore, the asymptotic behavior is very sensitive to the initial values of J and h and for particular choices we may create finite asymptotic entanglement regardless of the final values of J and h. The persistence of quantum effects in the system as it evolves and as the temperature is raised is studied by monitoring the entanglement. We find that the quantum effects dominates within certain regions of the kT-lambda space that vary significantly depending on the degree of the anisotropy of the system. Particularly, the quantum effects in the Ising model case persists in the vicinity of both its critical phase transition point and zero temperature as it evolves in time. We provide a class of initial encodings that can be sent with a high fidelity over an unmodulated, linear, XY spin chain. As an example, an average fidelity of ninety-six percent can be obtained using an eleven-spin encoding to transmit a state over a chain containing ten-thousand spins. Toeplitz matrices have applications to different problems of statistical mechanics. Recently they were used for calculation of entanglement entropy in spin chains. We use the Fisher-Hartwig formula to calculate entanglement entropy of large block of spins in the ground state of XY spin chain. We also calculate Renyi entropy and prove that the spectrum of the density matrix of a block of spins is exact geometric sequence [also different eigenvalues are degenerated differently]., Comment: 29 page, 2 figures

Jordan-Wigner transformation and Bogolyubov transformation are the main steps of the diagonalization of Hamiltonian and paly an important role in the statistical mechanics calculations for one-dimensional Heisenberg spin chain model. Many methods can be exploited as a tool to detect quantum phase transition, regions of criticality and scaling behavior in the vicinity of a quantum phase transition, such as geometric phase, fidelity susceptibility, order parameter, and entanglement entropy, which have direct relation with Bogolyubov transformation. We diagonalized the Hamiltonian in XY spin-chain systems with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions, the results shows that only the energy spectrum but not the coefficients of the Bogolyubov transformation depends on DM interaction. Therefore, the DM interaction may not influence the critical magnetic field of quantum phase transitions and not induce new critical regions in the XY spin model. We study the dynamics and the asymptotic behaviors of quantum discord in a one-dimensional XY model coupled through time-dependent nearest-neighbor interactions and in the presence of a time-dependent magnetic field. We find that the time evolution of the nearest-neighbor quantum discord in this system shows non-ergodic behaviors but is asymptotic to its steady value at the long-time limit. The zero-temperature asymptotic behaviors of quantum discord is only determined by the ratio between the coupling parameter and magnetic field, whereas the finite-temperature asymptotic behaviors determined by both of them. These asymptotic behaviors are sensitive not only to the initial values of the coupling parameter and magnetic field, but also to the final values. It is interesting to note that quantum discords are more robust than entanglement against the effect of temperature. We also find particular parameter regimes, where the nearest-neighbor quantum discord is enhanced significantly.

We present a general formulation of Floquet states of periodically time-dependent open Markovian quasi-free fermionic many-body systems in terms of a discrete Lyapunov equation. Illustrating the technique, we analyze periodically kicekd XY spin 1/2 chain which is coupled to a pair of Lindblad reservoirs at its ends. A complex phase diagram is reported with re-entrant phases of long range and exponentially decaying spin-spin correlations as some of the system's parameters are varied. We study the complete phase space and the quench dynamics of an exactly solvable spin chain, the cluster-XY model. In this chain, the cluster term and the XY couplings compete to give a rich phase diagram. The phase diagram is studied by means of the quantum geometric tensor. We study the time evolution of the system after a critical quantum quench using the Loschmidt echo. We study the Loschmidt echo (LE) of a coupled system consisting of a central spin and its surrounding environment described by a general XY spin-chain model. The quantum dynamics of the LE is shown to be remarkably influenced by the quantum criticality of the spin chain. In particular, the decaying behavior of the LE is found to be controlled by the anisotropy parameter of the spin chain. Furthermore, we show that due to the coupling to the spin chain, the ground-state Berry phase for the central spin becomes nonanalytical and its derivative with respect to the magnetic parameter $\lambda$ in spin chain diverges along the critical line $\lambda=1$, which suggests an alternative measurement of the quantum criticality of the spin chain., Comment: 15 pages, 5 figures

We study an asymptotic behavior of a special correlator known as the Emptiness Formation Probability (EFP) for the one-dimensional anisotropic XY spin-1/2 chain in a transverse magnetic field. This correlator is essentially the probability of formation of a ferromagnetic string of length $n$ in the antiferromagnetic ground state of the chain and plays an important role in the theory of integrable models. For the XY Spin Chain, the correlator can be expressed as the determinant of a Toeplitz matrix and its asymptotical behaviors for $n \to \infty$ throughout the phase diagram are obtained using known theorems and conjectures on Toeplitz determinants. We find that the decay is exponential everywhere in the phase diagram of the XY model except on the critical lines, i.e. where the spectrum is gapless. In these cases, a power-law prefactor with a universal exponent arises in addition to an exponential or Gaussian decay. The latter Gaussian behavior holds on the critical line corresponding to the isotropic XY model, while at the critical value of the magnetic field the EFP decays exponentially. At small anisotropy one has a crossover from the Gaussian to the exponential behavior. We study this crossover using the bosonization approach., 40 pages, 9 figures, 1 table. Using quantization in the Fock space of operators we compute the non-equilibrium steady state in an open Heisenberg XY spin 1/2 chain of finite but large size coupled to Markovian baths at its ends. The impurities of exchange couplings, external magnetic fields and Dzyaloshinskii--Moriya (DM) interaction considered as Gaussian distribution, the entanglement in one-dimensional random $XY$ spin systems is investigated by the method of solving the different spin-spin correlation functions and the average magnetization per spin. The entanglement dynamics at central locations of ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic chains have been studied by varying the three impurities and the strength of DM interaction. (i) For ferromagnetic spin chain, the weak DM interaction can improve the amount of entanglement to a large value, and the impurities have the opposite effect on the entanglement below and above critical DM interaction. (ii) For antiferromagnetic spin chain, DM interaction can enhance the entanglement to a steady value. Our results imply that DM interaction strength, the impurity and exchange couplings (or magnetic field) play competing roles in enhancing quantum entanglement., Comment: 12 pages, 3 figures

The entanglement in one-dimensional random XY spin systems where the impurities of exchange couplings and the external magnetic fields are considered as random variables is investigated by solving the different spin-spin correlation functions and the average magnetization per spin. The entanglement dynamics near particular locations of the system is also studied when the exchange couplings (or the external magnetic fields) satisfy three different distributions(the Gaussian distribution, double-Gaussian distribution, and bimodal distribution). We find that the entanglement can be controlled by varying the strength of external magnetic field and the different distributions of impurities. A XY Heisenberg spin chain model with two perpendicular spins par site is mapped onto a Kirchhoff thin elastic rod. It is shown that in the case of constant curvature the Euler—Lagrange equation leads to the static sine-Gordon equation. The case of a double-helical DNA-like configuration corresponds to two interacting Heisenberg spin chains and the corresponding Euler—Lagrange equation gives a system of coupled static sine-Gordon-type equations. The kink-antikink type and periodical static solutions for these models are derived. The soliton dynamics and the the nonlinear excitations of the systems are investigated. The interplay between curvature and nonlinear excitations is analyzed as well.

We consider the one-dimensional XY quantum spin chain in a transverse magnetic field. We are interested in the Renyi entropy of a block of L neighboring spins at zero temperature on an infinite lattice. The Renyi entropy is essentially the trace of some power $\alpha$ of the density matrix of the block. We calculate the asymptotic for $L \to \infty$ analytically in terms of Klein's elliptic $\lambda$ - function. We study the limiting entropy as a function of its parameter $\alpha$. We show that up to the trivial addition terms and multiplicative factors, and after a proper re-scaling, the Renyi entropy is an automorphic function with respect to a certain subgroup of the modular group; moreover, the subgroup depends on whether the magnetic field is above or below its critical value. Using this fact, we derive the transformation properties of the Renyi entropy under the map $\alpha \to \alpha^{-1}$ and show that the entropy becomes an elementary function of the magnetic field and the anisotropy when $\alpha$ is a integer power of 2, this includes the purity $tr \rho^2$. We show that the geometric phase of the ground state in the XY model obeys scaling behavior in the vicinity of a quantum phase transition. In particular we find that the geometric phase is nonanalytical and its derivative with respect to the field strength diverges at the critical magnetic field. Furthermore, the universality in the critical properties of the geometric phase in a family of models is verified. In addition, since the quantum phase transition occurs at a level crossing or avoided level crossing and these level structures can be captured by the Berry curvature, the established relation between the geometric phase and quantum phase transitions is not a specific property of the XY model, but a very general result of many-body systems.

By introducing the Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya (DM) interaction, the Loschmidt Echo (LE) of a quantum system consisting of a central spin and its surrounding environment characterized by an XY spin chain was investigated analytically and numerically. At the critical points of the magnetic field, the LE presents an obvious decay. The decay amplitude can be tuned by the DM interaction. In some specific intervals the DM interaction can remarkably delay the decay of the LE. On the other hand, the DM interaction can change the effects of the anisotropy parameter on the LE.

The entanglement dynamics of spin chains is investigated using Heisenberg-XY spin Hamiltonian dynamics. The various measures of two-qubit entanglement are calculated analytically in the time-evolved state starting from initial states with no entanglement and exactly one pair of maximally-entangled qubits. The localizable entanglement between a pair of qubits at the end of chain captures the essential features of entanglement transport across the chain, and it displays the difference between an initial state with no entanglement and an initial state with one pair of maximally-entangled qubits., Comment: 5 Pages. 3 Figures

A correlation function of the XY spin chain is studied at zero temperature. This is called the Emptiness Formation Probability (EFP) and is expressed by the Fredholm determinant in the thermodynamic limit. We study an asymptotic behavior of the probability of formation of a ferromagnetic string (referred to as EFP) of length "n" in a ground state of the one-dimensional anisotropic XY model in a transversal magnetic field as n goes to infinity. We find that it is exponential everywhere in the phase diagram of the XY model except at the critical lines where the spectrum is gapless. One of those lines corresponds to the isotropic XY model where EFP decays in a Gaussian way, as was shown in cond-mat/0106062. The other line is at the critical value of the magnetic field.
