192. Research on the integral forming process of thin walled and thick mouth seamless gas cylinders

Abstract

Abstract There is a considerable difference in wall thickness between the mouth and the cavity of thin-walled and thick-mouthed seamless gas cylinders, and the existing manufacturing processes are unable to effectively meet product requirements. To overcome such issue, a step-by-step boring-necking-spinning solution for gas cylinders was proposed, in which sufficient wall thickness is reserved for the mouth area of the cylinder blank, followed by necking-spinning to realize the overall forming of thin-walled, thick-mouthed seamless gas cylinders. The stress–strain distribution and geometric dimensional changes of gas cylinders during the spinning process were investigated by means of finite element simulation, and the effects of different process parameters on the stress and wall thickness of the bottle mouth were analyzed. Further, multi-objective optimization of the response surface model was performed using the NSGA-II algorithm to derive a set of optimal process parameters. Finally, the correctness of the simulation and optimization results was verified experimentally, and the expected geometry and optimal strain state of the gas cylinder were obtained. The newly developed processing solution represents a groundbreaking advancement in the manufacturing of thin-walled and thick-mouthed gas cylinders.

Abstract

As random operations for quantum systems are intensively used in various quantum information tasks, a trustworthy measure of the randomness in quantum operations is highly demanded. The Haar measure of randomness is a useful tool with wide applications such as boson sampling. Recently, a theoretical protocol was proposed to combine quantum control theory and driven stochastic quantum walks to generate Haar-uniform random operations. This opens up a promising route to converting classical randomness to quantum randomness. Here, we implement a two-dimensional stochastic quantum walk on the integrated photonic chip and demonstrate that the average of all distribution profiles converges to the even distribution when the evolution length increases, suggesting the 1-pad Haar-uniform randomness. We further show that our two-dimensional array outperforms the one-dimensional array of the same number of waveguide for the speed of convergence. Abstract

Quantum Information Technologies and a Practical Module is a new course we launch at Shanghai Jiao Tong University targeting at the undergraduate students who major in a variety of engineering disciplines. We develop a holistic curriculum for quantum computing covering the quantum hardware, quantum algorithms and applications. The quantum computing approaches include the universal digital quantum computing, analog quantum computing and the hybrid quantum-classical variational quantum computing that is tailored to the noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) technologies nowadays. Besides, we set a practical module to bring student closer to the real industry needs. The students would form a team of three to use any quantum approach to solve a problem in fields like optimization, finance, machine learning, chemistry and biology. Further, this course is selected into the Jiao Tong Global Virtual Classroom Initiative, so that it is open to global students in Association of Pacific Rim Universities at the same time with the offline students, in a specifically updated classroom.
