Activatable fluorescent and chemiluminescent dyes with near‐infrared emission have indispensable roles in the fields of bioimaging, molecular prodrugs, and phototheranostic agents. As one of the most popular fluorophore scaffolds, the dicyanomethylene‐4H‐pyran scaffold has been applied to fabricate a large number of versatile activatable optical dyes for analytes detection and diseases diagnosis and treatment by virtue of its high photostability, large Stokes shift, considerable two‐photon absorption cross‐section, and structural modifiability. This review discusses the molecular design strategies, recognition mechanisms, and both in vitro and in vivo bio‐applications (especially for diagnosis and therapy of tumors) of activatable dicyanomethylene‐4H‐pyran dyes. Fine regulation of the physicochemical structure of carbon‐based electrocatalysts to optimize the adsorption energies of oxygen intermediates is critically important to enhance the reaction kinetics of the oxygen evolution/reduction reaction (OER/ORR) but remains a huge challenge. Herein, nano‐space confined growth of Co9S8 nanoparticles (NPs) in porous carbon is realized through an in situ confined growth strategy by using thiol‐chains functionalized COF (COF‐S‐SH) as a confined template. COF‐S‐SH is used as binding sites to immobilize Co ions to improve the interaction between metal nanoparticles (NPs) and carbon skeletons, and simultaneously serves as a confined void to avoid the aggregation metal NPs. Impressively, as an efficient bifunctional catalyst, the resulting Co9S8/COF‐S800 shows significantly enhanced oxygen electrocatalysis with a small OER‐ORR voltage gap of 0.76 V, vastly superior to that of pristine COF‐S800. Furthermore, the assembled Zn–air battery with Co9S8/COF‐S800 catalyst displays a high peak power density of 181.5 mW cm−2 and great durability over 60 h charge–discharge cycles. The viscosity within cells is a crucial microenvironmental factor, and sulfur dioxide (SO2) has essential functions in regulating cellular apoptosis and inflammation. Some evidence has been confirmed that changes in viscosity and overexposure of SO2 within the cell may cause detrimental effects including, but not limited to, respiratory and cardiovascular illnesses, inflammation, fatty liver, and various types of cancer. Therefore, precise monitoring of SO2 and viscosity in biological entities holds immense practical importance. Therefore, in this research, we developed a versatile fluorescent TCF‐Cou that enables the dual detection of SO2 and viscosity in the living system. Probe TCF‐Cou possessed a response to viscosity and SO2 through red and green emissions. The alteration of SO2 and viscosity levels in live cells and zebrafish were also monitored using probe TCF‐Cou. We hope that this fluorescent probe could be a potential tool for revealing the related pathological and physiological processes through monitoring the changes in SO2 and viscosity. To delineate racial differences in the incidence and time course of ROP in a large cohort of premature infants. The secondary analysis of data from the two Postnatal Growth and ROP Studies (G-ROP-1 and G-ROP-2) that were collected in 41 hospitals in North America from 2006 to 2017. According to self-reported maternal race, premature infants were classified into 3 groups: White (N = 5580), Black (N = 3252), and Asian (N = 353). Incidence, severity, and time course of ROP; plus disease; and postnatal weight gain rate were compared among racial groups. Black infants had significantly smaller BW (mean 1035 vs. 1131 vs.1144 grams, P <.001) and lower GA (28.2 vs. 28.6, vs. 29.1 weeks, P <.001) than White and Asian infants. However, Black infants had lower incidences of severe ROP (11.1% vs. 12.4% vs. 11.9%), ROP (42.1% vs. 43.2% vs. 30.6%), and plus disease (3.6% vs. 6.3%, vs. 5.9%) than White and Asian infants (BW and GA adjusted risk ratio for Black vs. White 0.69 for severe ROP, 0.83 for ROP, 0.44 for plus disease, all P <.0001). Mean daily-weight-gain on days of life 11–20 and 21–30 were similar across groups (P >.05), but lower in Black and Asian infants on days 31–40 (P <.001). There were no differences in the timing of severe ROP and ROP across racial groups. Despite relatively lower GA, BW, and daily-weight-gain, Black preterm infants had lower incidences of ROP and plus disease than White preterm infants.
